A Red Bridge Near A Blue Pheasant

8:45 am - I searched for a half hour for this one and came up empty. I understood the hint, but apparently didn't look in the right spot. I got a hint later on in the day, so I must have been really close, just didn't get my eyes on it. Tomorrow perhaps.

Northwest Passage

8:15 am - I saw the container right away, but didn't think that was it. I searched all over the place then read the logs and came back to it. Nicely done. Much better than my poor attempt at the same method a while back. . Thanks.

Just Another Hide

8:20 am - Missed bullit by 4 minutes. Maybe a few more as his watch seemed a bit fast on the deathmarch.

Easy find in the drizzle. Hey, who took the black Jazz token??

8:30 am - It's amazing that this place has survived all the development. I should have guessed the container - does Marky hide anything else these days?! Thanks.

Bad Badtz-Maru's Secret Hideout

12:24 pm - This was my last cache of the day. I previously found and broke "Got the Hotts for Olives", so I promised Marky I would drop it off for him.

I was surprised how well a cache could be hidden in someone's front yard - I had to use the hint. I would have stopped in to say hello, but it was Easter Sunday!

Took nothing, left the Got the Hotts for Olives cache.

I find it hard to believe the the neighbors don't know about Geocaching in this neighborhood. Thanks.

Is it a wash?

12:18 pm - Nicely-done cache. I was almost afraid to grab it. I haven't seen that one before for sure. Thanks!

WaterRats' Cache

12:07 pm - I found the first location OK and sat down to figure things out.

Please don't use special characters for numbers. They don't come out at all in pocket queries.

I had to guess at substitutions until I found something that made sense. It didn't help that I kept making math errors too. At one point I looked up and noticed a man had just walked by.

As I walked to the cache, I noticed the same guy sitting on a log with some paper. I thought he might be cacher, but I didn't see any GPSr.

I found the cache after a bit and TNLNSL. Walking back to the car, I ran into the guy again who was MRsquared! I don't know why I didn't recognize him before. We chatted about the deathmarch and then headed off.

Thanks (again) for the cache.

Here's the Benchmark

11:34 am - This one was hard, but not as hard as the last one! I found the benchmark first, then said "Where's the cache?". The logs helped and I found it soon after. Sign, roll, roll, roll. Thanks!

Got the Hotts for Olives

11:27 am - I searched for a long time on this one and eventually decided to give up. On the way back to the car, I read some more logs and decided to ungive up with some new information.

I looked some more, and then resolved to ask for some up. Before I got an answer I spotted it. Then it was just a matter of getting to it. Finally I grabbed it and pulled it apart - and broke it. Well, it was mostly broken before, but it was completely broken after I handled it.

I let Marky know and told him I would drop it off later for repairs. Thanks!

UB: Guerilla Warfare - Arms Cache

10:39 am - My coords were a little off, but the hint helped me get in the right place.

Unfortunately there were some people in the area which made it hard to search. I waited a while but more people just kept coming. I'll come back another day.

9:59 am - Crikes, that's a lot of Pez! I checked my stuff and all I found was actual pez candy, but no containers, so I TNLNSL. Thanks!

Area 51

9:37 am - This one took about 3 seconds to find and 2 minutes to roll the log back up. I had some trouble getting the cache to stay in place, but I guess that's how it is. Thanks.

9:29 am - This trail was bizz-eee this morning. I was feeling crabby too, but the other kind. I finally spotted it when looking somewhere else. Thanks.

Blinker

9:07 am - This was the first of a bunch of M&J blinker caches I did this morning.

Since it looked virtually identical, I looked where Earth Red was. It wasn't in the same place. I finally spotted it in a break in foot traffic. Thanks.

8:55 am - Found the cache, still no tokens encountered. I'm sure I'll find one eventually or maybe someone will let me borrow a couple.

Alien Mother Ship

8:45 am - The first thing I saw when I got here was a guy in a security car letting himself into the gate. I hung out for a minute and then headed into the park. I hung out behind the bushes for a minute and then the security guy drove back in the other direction. I waited until he opened the gate and crossed through again before I cautiously emerged. You don't what kind of alien secrets these security guys could be concealing. Or maybe he was an alien!

Anyway, I poked around for a few minutes before I found the alien stronghold. So that's where they all came from!

TNLNSL. As I left I saw some other people walking in the park including a couple that came in the entrance I used, which happened to be the one in the description. So I guess there's no reason to hide from the security guy... unless you're an alien.

Thanks.

Boulter

8 pm - We decided to grab some dinner here because we were too tired to cook after the deathmarch.

I wanted to see if Anne could find this one (since it's her namesake cache too), so I put her in the right area and told her to start searching in the dark. She looked at one object from 10 feet away and instantly said "it's that".

"What do you mean?" I said. "Are you sure?". She said yes and then I had to admit to her that she was right. I pulled it out and showed it to her and she seemed completely unsurprised. How did she do that? Not fair.

What A View!

3:34 pm - We had never been up here before, so we took a nice uphill drive to the spot. I found the cache easily and took the book crossing book; it's the first time I've seen one of these in a cache. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at 03:34 PM

Look what I found!

3:13 pm - This was a nice cache. I headed right into the PO of course, while Anne pointed right at it and let me take it out. TNLNSL. Thanks!

Priest Rock Trailhead

2:35 pm - About a half-mile up the hill I noticed that I had missed a cache at the start. I guess we were the last to arrive and everyone had already grabbed it.

I started hobbling back up the hill from the Limekiln trail at the end of the hike, but then flagged down Nagzul. He let me ride on his siderail up to the cache. The look from my wife as we went by was just priceless.

bullit found the cache first and I gladly signed. Thanks for all the caches. Just don't do that here again anytime soon.

Posted by jeff at 02:35 PM

1:20 pm - I thought I had found all the caches on the way down, but there was this one. Someone else grabbed it and I signed it, or perhaps Nostrada signed it for me. I have no clue.

Nice view from here. Thanks!

We made it up the hill, finally. And everyone finally had a ckayaks coin. TFTC.

Nearby "A Pair of Quintuplets "

11:19 am - TeamSimo and I stared up at where our compasses were pointing for a while and I finally decided to scramble up. Of course there was a much better way to get to this one, but our way was more fun.

I got my eyes on this one first, carefully avoiding the PO and thorns.

A 2005 USA geocoin was in the cache and kaelia dropped a shotglass which I HAD to have. Of course I had nothing to trade on me, so I had to run back down to Anne and grabbed and hot wheels car and a pez container.

The uphill part is almost done, right? Thanks.

Evidence Of Fire

10:17 am - We tried to be sneaky and not tell WoW and some others that they had just passed this cache. Unfortunately workerofwood's delayed geosense kicked in a hundred feet away and the reared about.

The bugger then proceeded to find the cache first, even with our head start! That'll teach us. Of course he didn't announce he had found it either, leaving a bunch of us to continue searching, like the fools we are.

Ah, good times. Thanks.

9:48 am - I like bullit's new rule! It would have helped me on this one because all I have for notes is "Parallel effort", which means absolutely nothing to me now. The brain cells that stored that must have been converted to energy somewhere on the climb.

It probably means I was looking in completely the wrong place, which I was. TNLNSL. Thanks.

Feel The Burn!

9:02 am - That was a pretty good uphill! TeamSimo and I powered up and started looking. Of course the first thing I did was cross the fence, until he informed me it wasn't necessary. We searched for a few minutes and then the rest caught up with us.

Workerofwood then shamed us by finding the cache right away. That bugger! TNLNSL. Thanks.

Assume Nothing #7: WoW's 45th Birthday Micro-Multi

11:19 am - We were lying in bed this morning and I was trying to get Anne excited about going out to do some caching with impending rain. We noticed this one on the map and it piqued our interest, so we thought we would give it a try.

Of course when we got to the park, it was raining steadily with lots of dark clouds overhead. We went on anyway.

#1 was easy enough. #2 didn't take long either. Then we took a little hike up, it started raining harder and we got soaked. The rest were just a blur of water and log sheets.

I think 38 was missing, but it didn't seem to matter by that point. We were too wet to care. Shortly after we found the cache, it really started to downpour and we waited under the tree, trying to decide whether we were crazy enough to try even more in this park. We started to, but later found our senses and headed toward home.

Thanks for the soggy old time. Do we get bonus points for finding 45 caches in the rain? And what's up with only getting to claim this as one find?!! All that work for one sticking number.

Hey look, there's a bunch of new ones in Fremont!

10:52 am - It was sunny at home, so we thought the weatherman was lying to us about all the rain today. We decided to venture out to Quicksilver and see if we could pick up a few caches.

I made a quick run to this one by myself, and quickly got soaked from all the wet grass. A deer was hanging out near the cache, but took off when I arrived.

That's a nice big 'un! I took an alien driver's license and left U-turn sig item #22. Thanks!

10:56 am - I had some feelings of deja vu here. Wasn't there a bykenut cache close by?

10:03 am - I drove by this place a few weeks ago and wondered what it was and why there wasn't a cache here. Now I know the answer to both questions.

I got here at first about 8 am and it was closed, so I went and did some other nearby caches. When I returned at 9:50 it was open and I was the only one in the place.

The rain had stopped for the moment, so I had a nice walk. I had to use the hint before I noticed the cache. Nice hide. TNLNSL.

9:32 am - It was raining pretty hard now. I waited in the car for a bit, then ventured out under an umbrella.

8:52 am - I drove around and around to get to this one as there was some kind of cleanup day nearby. I had to get around a long line of cars with old furniture in their trunks.

Once I finally found the right place to park, I had a nice stroll to the cache. The spot was a bit exposed, so I had to wait for a break in the traffic. TNLNSL. Thanks.

I could have sworn I already logged this one, but I guess not.

This version of the cache was pretty uneventful. No homeless people, just me and a quick find of a blinker. It felt kinda weird to sign the same log sheet twice, but if it's cool with the owner, it's cool with me.

It is a pretty nice skate park. Thanks.

4:30 pm - I'm amazed this LC wasn't taken, since there's a cache right under it! I almost didn't bother taking a picture. This tiny old Jail is in San Juan Bautista, California and is near the San Juan Bautista Mission. It was used to house mostly drunkards on Saturday nights. Today it's part of a state park, right next to the restrooms.

2:10 pm - We had a great time at Pinnacles today. There were lots of great views and some interesting geology.

We took the loooong way to the cache from the Chapparral Ranger station up the Juniper Canyon Trail, then the Tunnel Trail, then High Peaks, Old Pinnacles, Balconies Cave and finally Balconies trail, for a total of 7.7 miles. Only the first mile or so was tough.

The cave was exciting. We only had one headlamp, so I used my Treo as my flashlight. The funniest part was when we entered the cave and couldn't find find the way up! It was really dark in there.

We did get a bit wet later, but it was worth it. Thanks!

Terrain Challenge 3

1:54 pm - Today was the day to find some caches I was sick of looking at and this was the the second one I found.

I wanted to do this one a few weeks ago, but it was pouring rain up here.

I had looked at some maps at home, so I knew which way to go. I decided to explore Alpine Road anyway and tried to find another way in. I couldn't find any, so I used the suggested parking.

I had a great hike down, listening to music and enjoying the day.

The stream crossing was a bit tricky, but I made it across. After that the trail got pretty scarce and full of poison oak. I continued on anyway and soon I approached the cache and a gate. I hadn't seen a soul on the way down, but stragely there was a guy just standing there at the cache. At first I thought it might be popeye2 or at least another geocacher. Who would come all the way down here?

The guy turned out to be an entomologist, health inspector and hardcore hiker named Kevin. I asked him if he knew about geocaching and he had heard about it. I then went over and found the cache while we chatted. The cache was in OK shape; the container was kinda crushed but the insides were dry. I was #3 on the log and I TNLNSL.

Kevin and I headed back up together and we talked about all the parks we've been to. The hike back up felt quick with some good conversation. I think he'd have a lot of fun caching, so I hope he checks it out.

Thanks for a nice hike on a beautiful day!

GRIZZLY STASH

11:07 am - Today was the day to pick up some difficult caches that I was tired of looking at. This was the first.

I looked at a map and determined that the easiest way to drive all the way up Stevens Creek Canyon Road as far as I could and walk the rest of the way to the cache. According to my map, it would be less than a 1 mile walk with little elevation change.

My map was wrong. There was a gate 1.8 miles from the cache. There were no parking signs everywhere, but I parked somewhere where it didn't explicitly say no parking right here.

The walk up the canyon was nice. There were lots of people on bikes barrelling down the narrow trails. After a while I got paranoid that I wouldn't hear them and they'd run me over.

About a mile in I came upon a stream crossing and there was no way I was going to be able to jump it. So I took off my socks and sneakers, crossed it , and it put them back on.

The rest of the hike was nice and only gently uphill. When I got close to the coordinates I started looking. I didn't find anything at first, so I went all the way down to the creek crossing. That seemed too far away, so I went back and found it just inches from the first place I looked! TNLNSL.

I avoided the bikes and crossed the stream on the way back. My car was still in place, and no ticket. Hooray!

5:33 pm - I made an assumption about where it would be at first, so I had to make a second pass. Nice paint job. It was a bit rusty and hard to open though. Thanks for another on this road.

Out of my Mines

5:16 pm - We had a great drive from San Jose to Livemore today and this was one of our stops. Once I got to the top, it was an easy find. TNLNSL. Thanks!

Road of Mines, You make me ill

5:02 pm - The cylists on this road must have been really wondering what was going on. We'd drive past them, then park and disappear while we searched for a cache. Meanwhile they passed us. Then we'd pass them again.

They came up past us again just as I put this one back. Quick find, TNLNSL. Thanks!

Quarter Turn

4:45 pm - I may have to claim another purple heart for this one.

First, I was convinced the cache was on the other side of the stream, so I crossed it. It was running pretty wide and swift today. Once I got over there it became clear that I went totally the wrong way.

Then we crossed the road and started climbing up the rocks. There were lots of nooks and crannies to search, so I kept climbing higher and higher until I got to the top.

On one scramble I fell a little bit and landed on my ribcage. I didn't think much of it.

I went all the way around the rock down the other side until I followed the GPSr to a place where I zeroed out and finally found the cache. We had been looking for a long time, so it was satisfying to find it just about when we were going to give up.

On the way back to the car, I noticed my ribs still hurt. It got progressively worse and tonight it's pretty painful. Hopefully it's just a bad bruise. TFTC!

Fruit of the Earth

3:49 pm - For some reason I thought I was looking for a potato. Nope, just a regular cache. It was an easy find. After that we headed back west then north up to Livermore from San Jose. Thanks!

Meeting of the Mines

3:37 pm - Today we took Mines road all the way up over Mt. Hamliton from San Jose all the way to Livermore. It was a beautful day and the ride was scenic, especially while the hills were still green.

This was our first stop for a cache. There were a few bikers and some cyclists resting here.

While I searched for the cache, Anne counted 29 mailboxes all in a row.

There have been some finders since last November even though they haven't logged it online.

Thanks for the pit stop.

SJC- 3 - Tale of Fox and Donner

9:52 am - - sad building. I'm glad I got the cache while the building is still there! Thanks.

St. James Park

9:46 am - I got a bit confused on this one. I couldn't find the first stage so I wandered until I found the third. I'm never good at doing even simple math in my head so it took a while to do the final two stages. The cache wasn't hard to find. Thanks for the tour.

SJC- 1 - The Brooke Hart Kidnapping

9:17 am - I dunno, this puzzle was kinda hard for me. When I found the coordinates, I wasn't sure about them.

They led me to the right spot today though and it was an easy find. Scenic spot, Nostrada! TFTC and the history.

The Village Cart

9:10 am - The cache was in the first place I looked. That said, I didn't see it there when I looked the first time.

I've driven by this place and thought about a cache too. Thanks.

Gotta Love It

8:50 am - I helped MotorBug and WoW place this one, giddy from Krisy Kremes despite the rain. I just love all the places Geocaching takes me.

I ran into a non-geocaching hiker today and we talked about all kinds of parks. I was amazed how many I had been to! Thanks for all the fun guys.

A Pair of Quintuplets (Multi-Location Virtual)

8:50 am - This spot is right near my favorite place to park outside of San Jose airport. Since you can't sit and idle anywhere inside, I usually park right around here because it's close. It's sure better than doing laps around the terminals.

Anyway, it was a parking lot behind some corporate buildings right next to CA State Highway 87. It took me a while to get the coordinates and the picture, but they eventually came out OK.

Sunnyvale Skate Park

8:36 am - 12 hours and one minute later, I found it. There were no homeless people and no kids today, so I could search with abandon. I looked all over and was getting stuck when MotorBug called and of course I asked him for some help on this one. I got some direction and then I spotted the little bugger.

Kinda cruel to put something that small here, but it's off my list now. Thanks.

Sunnyvale Skate Park

8:35 pm - Strike 2. No vagrants today, just some kids on the bleachers.

One of them asked me if there was anything interesting about this park. Well there is to me, of course, but I told them no. I'll try again some other time.

Halt!

8:22 pm - I found the cache OK, but I didn't think I was going to be able to get it open. Finally I did, signed it with the wrong date and checked out a spot for a new cache nearby. Thanks.

Saratoga Creek Overlook #1

7:45 pm - Crap, I broke it.

I found the container quickly, but there was a lot of traffic, so I waited for a break.

At the right moment I grabbed the container and pulled it away. I felt a little tug and then it came free. Uh oh. I didn't expect that. I got out my flashlight and figured out what happened and realized I was not going to be able to fix the original cache.

I went back to the car and cobbled together a film can, a log sheet in a bag and some rare earth magnets.

I then put the cache back in the container, but using the magnets instead of the previous attachment method. It worked. I played with it some more to make sure it wouldn't fall out or get stuck. It got stuck. Uggh.

Some smacks on the pavement got the cache back out and I filled in some of the container to make sure that wouldn't happen again.

I replaced the container and I checked it again. I think it's all set to go now. Sorry for the trouble!

SC-17 - Gulliver plays here - LC * 2

7:07 pm - I've seen this place before, now why didn't I notice it was an LC? Oh well. I found the cache quickly and then used the free wifi in the lot to see which caches were next. Thanks.

Not Rainbow Camo

6:58 pm - I came to this park a bunch of times when I first started caching. I guess the caches that were here are all gone now.

It took me a while to find the cache and then I found it guarded by a big nasty spider. I delicately removed it, signed the log (dated the 5th, oops!) and returned it. Thanks!

Calabazas Park

6:44 pm - I got here and messed around in my car with my flashlight for awhile in preparation for the search. It turns out I didn't need it.

I read the logs on the way over and that set me in the right mode. I went for the first thing I saw and it was the cache.

How do you make these things? And how do you get it to match so well?

Thanks for the cache!

BADGES Power!

6:39 pm - Great camo! I wish I could have picked it up the other night, but it was just too rainy. TNLNSL and accidentally dated my find the 5th. Thanks.

Go Fly A Kite

8:22 am - Go MotorBug! I got up a little early so I could be part of the festivities. We got a little wet, but still had fun.

Afterwards we introduced MotorBug to Krispy Kremes. With all that sugar, I think he went out and found another thousand after that so we'll have to meet up again tomorrow morning for 3K.

TNLNSL. Thanks.

Fremont Older OSP's Side Door

8:51 am - The coast was all clear until I got near the cache when all kinds of people started walking by. I waited for them next to my car and when they passed, I found I had been standing 2 feet way from it the whole time. Thanks!

Ceara's First Puzzle

8:39 am - My that's a pretty long walk for a 2 month-old!

I powered up the trail before work and found the cache. It was filled with all kinds of fun things to put in your mouth! Just as I found it some people came down the trail, so I had to get down and get back up again after the passed. Left signature token #25.

Thanks, Ceara! We hope to finally meet you soon.

E.L.P.

8:55 am - Marky tempted me with one more cache before work, so I went along. We did a quick fence hop and I found the cache, a bit muddy on the outside. Thanks.

Cupertino City Center Cache

8:45 am - I had just run into Marky and I heard this one was tough, so I enlisted him to come with me to helo with it. He didn't need much convincing.

It was quite helpful to have him there because when I part in the description about the him providing the container, he knew exactly what it was and found it quickly. We found another spot that would have been perfect, but your spot is more evil.

Thanks!

Bored Of Caching?

8:32 am - I'm honored to have been able to suppy Marky with a lifeline, especially since he's found 1600 more caches than me!

I recognized the red suv immediately as I turned into the lot and Marky was looking a bit lost. To be fair he didn't have the description. Otherwise I'm sure he would have found it. But it was a good opportunity to demonstrate how I could download new pocket queries right to my phone to Marky.

Once we signed the log we headed off to another cache. Thanks!

Rage Over A Lost Symphony

8:21 am - This one really wasn't as hard as I thought it was, which made it harder. Does that make sense?

I cornered atc at the event and he confirmed some of my thoughts. With that reinforcement I found the needed information pretty quickly and surmised some coordinates. Appropriate spot. Thanks for the puzzle!

Cache into Caches

8:12 am - The cache was an easy find but once I opened it, it could have been a puzzle - find the right log book! I decided to TNLNSL. Thanks.
