Anniversary Cache

2:38 pm - Hey, it's another cache. We grabbed this one on our drive back to the Bay Area. We've been happily married for 5 years now. TNLN. Thanks!

Kolly Wobbels #16 Beautiful Passage

1:27 pm - It probably would have been a good idea to read the description on this one before we did the long hike up to here. It was a lot of fun though and we got to hike through the snow, even if there wasn't a cache at the end. Thanks.

The 90 Foot Cache

12:06 pm - That's a pretty nice view from up here. I messed up my foot hiking here a couple of years ago and it still hurts every once in a while. TNLN. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at 12:06 PM

manram

10:57 am - This was another quick stop on the way home. We had to be stealthy, but found it OK. TNLN. Thanks!

Thunder & Lightening at Sugarpine

7:47 pm - We were tired from a long day of caching, but we needed to finish this one up since we had found the first stage. That's a pretty cool lightning strike. Thanks for the cache.

Intro to Dendro III: Calocedrus decurrens

7:34 pm - After wandering around in this park for a couple hours, we were ready to get out here, but we couldn't skip a cache. I followed my GPS down the trail, then off the trail (making everyone follow me into the brush) and then back onto the trail where I found the cache. TNLN. Thanks!

The World's Highest Working Lighthouse

7:13 pm - A bit unimpressive as far as lighthouses go (where's the house?), but an interesting cache. Anne volunteered to get wet to grab this one while we all snickered. I at least was able to direct her to where I thought it was, and I was right. Thanks for the fun.
Posted by jeff at 07:13 PM

See Der Inside

6:53 pm - The four of us searched for this one for quite a long time. I'd definitely call this one a micro instead of a regular (though a regular could easily be put here). I'm still amazed that I ever found it.
Posted by jeff at 06:53 PM

Campy Caching

6:06 pm - My GPS was sending me in circles, be we found it after a while. TNLN. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at 06:06 PM

Bear Grub

5:58 pm - This one was a pretty quick find for me as I tried to ignore the dogs. TNLN. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at 05:58 PM

Kim's Overlook

5:49 pm - Wow, that is a great view from up here! We took the hard way up, scrambling up the steep side. After finding the cache, we found an easier way down which could have been even easier if we followed it better. TNLN. Thanks for the adventure!
Posted by jeff at 05:49 PM

Mile Marker # 71

4:49 pm - We searched all over for this one until my Dad finally came up with it. Good deal. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at 04:49 PM

All Shapes & Sizes II

4:35 pm - I was here a few years ago before all this construction was completed. This place sure has changed a lot. We tried to be stealthy looking for the cache, especially from a couple looking our way much too often. There was a reason for that - they had the cache and they were trying to replace it! We got the cache handoff from DeutschersinNV and put it back where we had looked before. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at 04:35 PM

Part-Time Girlfriend

4:03 pm - This is a bit of precarious spot with all the traffic, but we found it OK. My Dad took a spill, but only got a scrape. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at 04:03 PM

Carnelian Cache

3:45 pm - After driving up some interesting roads, we had a nice walk up to this cache. TNLN. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at 03:45 PM

Go Tahoe

2:55 pm - This cache is in great condition. We stopped and chatted for a while about the Ponderosa Ranch and its future. I rescued the Little Sadie TB to bring her on further adventures. Also picked up a cool brochure for an official Nevada state tourism geocache. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at 02:55 PM

Ponderosa Ranch Relic

2:43 pm - My parents were disappointed that the ranch was closed, but we peeked at what we could see and got a good picture of the shoveler. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at 02:43 PM

Memorial Point Scenic Overlook

2:21 pm - That's a pretty easy virtual and great excuse to get out of the car and stretch my sore legs. Thanks!

Royal Cascade

2:08 pm - We enjoyed the short walk here after a big brunch at the Ahwanee. There was someone freeclimbing the wall which was pretty cool. I didn't quite get all the answers right, but enough to prove I was there though. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at 02:08 PM

The Indian Caves of Yosemite

11:43 am - This one turned out to be a bit harder than we expected. After finding several "false" caves and crawling all over the place, we found the correct trail and the correct cave. In the process we lost my parents and had to split up and recover a lot of ground to find them. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at 11:43 AM

A Bridge in Yosemite NP

10:34 am - We had a nice walk from here and thankfully a much shorter one than Nevada falls the day before. I was quite sore from that one. As we crossed the bridge a deer walked right past us. At least it wasn't a bear. Thanks!

Out of the Darkness, into Yosemite Valley!

9:38 am - This was our second pass through here on our vacation. This time it wasn't too dark to stop! We checked out the view and watched some wedding pictures being taken. Thanks!

Yosemite's Wonders

8:25 pm - We drove past here earlier in the day and the rangers has just closed the road to Glacier Point due to snow. Indeed it had been hailing off and on all day. We went to Wawona to see the see the trees for a while. On the way back the road was open again so we quickly headed up the road to arrive at the point at dusk. Amazing views. You can't really appreciate how big Half Dome is from the valley floor.

Nearby there was a rented RV all smashed on the rear passenger side. Oops, I guess they're not getting their deposit back!

Posted by jeff at 08:25 PM

Welcome To Yosemite

6:37 pm - After checking out Wiwona, we made a quick stop of this one. Hey, an actual real physical cache! Thanks for the quick find.

The Best Hike in Yosemite Valley

1:18 pm - Well, it only looked like half a mile from vernal falls and I took a quick read of the description and decided to go for it. My parents were waiting down below, but they said to go ahead.

It turned out to be much longer than a half-mile jaunt of course. Going up those stairs was painful. Near the top it was snowing - not from the sky, but from the mist off the waterfall freezing and blowing around.

My legs were really sore for days after that hike. Stairs were quite painful, but I enjoyed the cache and hike nonetheless. Thanks!

Mist Trail Cache

12:14 pm - I was very happy that I remembered a raincoat. The wind was blowing and it was easy to get soaked. Those stairs were painful in both directions. We took a well-deserved break one we arrived at the top, joining dozens of others drying out in the sun. Thanks for the hike!
Posted by jeff at 12:14 PM

Sierra Point

10:48 am - This was a really fun adventure. We broke off from my parents for a quick jaunt up the hill. After much scrambling we found the right trail and followed it up and up. The 360 degree view from the top was amazing.

On the way down we met some people who worked down in the village and asked us how we knew to come up here. Thanks!

Split Rock: An Investigation

10:01 am - This was near the beginning of what became a very long hike. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to pick out the right rock, but then it was obvious. Thanks!

A Happy Place

9:52 am - We were just getting started on our hike up to Nevada Falls. I stole a few minutes to find this interesting area. My feet were definitely happier when I found this cache than when I passed by on the way back. Thanks!

8:56 pm - This was the first cache we happened at when we arrived in the park. Unfortunately I didn't realize it until after I got back to the car and my GPS! I got most of the answers right though and confirmed my find. Thanks for one of many.
