4:36 pm - We decided to take the scenic route home from Sacremento and this one was right along the way. We nearly got stuck in the mud near the cache - I had to rev the car way up and slowly move out. After that I spent a long time looking for the cache, but came up empty. Neat old cemetary though!

4:05 pm - Interesting story here. In replacing the cache I broke the "camo" on top of it. Oops, sometimes I don't know my own strength.
Thanks!

3:39 pm - We made a quick stop here while checking out downtown Davis. We avoided the group of skateboarders skating underneath the "no skateboarding" sign on the way over. TFTC!

3:21 pm - Quick find here today. Finding this one where it was makes me wonder if another in this series was missing...

3:11 pm - Looking for a cache here could have been fun, but I guess it's not needed anymore. Thanks anyway!

3:00 pm - DNF. Tried all the likely spots but couldn't locate it. Muggles weren't a problem either. Oh well.

2:36 pm - This one fit in quite nicely here. It's surprising that it's still here on this busy campus. TNLNSL. Thanks!

2:13 pm - We walked over to the monument and calculated the final but thought we might be able to drive closer to it. We did a bunch of other caches then came back. We didn't find closer parking than right next to the monument, so we ended up doing the full walk anyway. TNLNSL. Thanks.

1:37 pm - Do horses count as muggles? One was looking at me very suspiciously as I grabbed the cache. I hope he doesn't give the hide away.
Thanks!

1:21 pm - Yup, lots of ducks nearby today guarding the cache. Found it ok though. TNLNSL. Thanks!

11:51 am - It was strange to see a BART series way out here! The cache was filled with water, but the answer card was just fine. Little wildlife but lots of bicyclists and walkers out today. Thanks!

11:25 am - We had a nice walk out to this one and found it without any trouble. This place must look very different in the spring when the water is high. TNLNSL. Thanks!

11:09 am - We had a great walk in this park. We should have brought our bikes. Found the cache just fine. TNLNSL. Thanks!

11:09 AM
10:56 am - Getting into this park was pretty comical. First, we couldn't find the machine to pay the park fee. Then we realized we didn't have change. Digging through every bad we had, we managed to find enough pennies and nickels to scrounge up the cash. Finding the cache on the other hand was much easier. Thanks.

10:56 AM
9:09 am - This was the the third cache of the morning during our walk from the hotel.
Apparently we're below average-sized as we had a lot of trouble getting to this one. With a boost we barely got it. TNLNSL. Thanks.

09:09 AM
9:00 am - The grass was a bit wet and so were our shoes by the time we finished this one.
I messed up and forgot to adjust half the coordinates so I spent some time looking in a wide open area. The second spot made a lot more sense. The cache was a tight fit, but I managed to get it out. TNLNSL. Thanks.

5:21 pm - OK, one more cache.
After circling the block a few times we found a close spot to park. Quick find on the cache, too. Thanks!

4:56 pm - This one confused us at first. Anne figured out the hint and we headed to it just as it started to rain - hard. We grabbed the cache as soon as could and called it a day. Thanks!

1:27 pm - The first stage was pretty easy. We looked in two different areas for the second stage and came up empty. Bummer.

01:27 PM
1:04 pm - We had to count to find this one. It was pretty visible, there's just a lot of places to look. The log was very soggy. We were barely able to sign it. Thanks.

01:04 PM
11:14 am - We walked right to this one and found it in the right spot. People must have been wondering what I was doing in there since there was no functional device! Thanks for the fun.

4:40 pm - I recall enjoying solving this one a while ago. It's nice to learn something new. I also recall having some extra numbers and throwing nthem away.
Today I was in the neighborhood and thought I would stop by to sign the log. As soon as I saw it, I knew what I had to do. I doublechecked, but I did not have the numbers, so I started a brute force. This was made even more difficult by the ants that were crawling all over the cache. I had to stop frequently to brush them off. I nearly convinced myself that the brute force wouldn't work when it finally did. That was painful. There were some muggles in the area, so I quickly signed the log and headed home. Thanks!

2:34 pm - Nope, no reception here for some reason. I dropped the Divit Head TB for the Marx TB. Hopefully it won't be long before someone comes up here to rescue it. Thanks.

1:46 pm - I was surprised to find a GBA coin out in the wild up here. It was hella foggy up here, making for little view. Got the cache and TNLNSL. Thanks!

01:46 PM
1:33 pm - The inclement weather returned again here casting a very eerie fog across the area. Visibility was barely 50 feet. The first person we saw all day ran by, surprising us. I found the cache OK and we continued along. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
01:33 PM
1:04 pm - I could have found it without MotorBug's help, so neehhh! You don't often see moss growing on cars, so this was a strange one. Thanks for the tour.

12:52 pm - This one would only be better if there was a hidden camera nearby. Nicely done. Thanks!

12:52 PM
12:41 pm - There was some nasty rain earlier in the day (with more to come), but about the time we got here, it had cleared up a bit and was quite nice. MotorBug spotted the signature camo quickly. Thanks.

12:41 PM
12:21 pm - I was really bummed that I lost part of my trusty lanyard pen somewhere around here. I noticed it was missing while searching in all kinds of strange holes for this cache. I spotted the cache and then MotorBug took advantage of the furnishings. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
12:21 PM
12:03 pm - I've been waiting a long time to grab this one as it was placed just after the infamous deathmarch where I cleared out the area.
Nope, no view here today. I TNLNSL from the nice big cache. Thanks!

12:03 PM
11:29 am - I should just go home; MotorBug finds these in seconds. Nice camo and TFTC.
Posted by jeff at
11:29 AM
10:52 am - MotorBug and I were still burning time and did this one as a quick hike up rather than on the way down as we planned. The rain continued though a bit lighter but there was PO all around. I finally found it with the hint and we headed back to the car to find the rain had just about stopped. The hike was back on! TNLNSL. Thanks.

5:16 pm - There was a group of protestors on the corner regarding the latest scheduled execution. As I waited for the crosswalk, I appeared to join them!
I got the first few clues, but couldn't figure out what the 8 and 10s used to be, so I went for the hint. Nice big cache here. Too bad I forgot my TBs again, so TNLN. Thanks!

05:16 PM
5:03 pm - DNF. Apparently I need to start bringing a ladder with me caching. That's not nice. I would normally try harder but there was a guy and his kid hitting balls right there.

05:03 PM
4:23 pm - Ha, hadn't heard that nickname before. At first I thought they really need to do something about the homeless problem here, then I recognized it was MotorBug rooting around near the trash bins.
We found it and then went to look at toys in the Apple store. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at
04:23 PM
4:06 pm - I was off doing some caching in another direction when I got a call from a frantic motorbug. Something about an FTF and a puzzle that just came out. We agreed to meet in Palo Alto. When I arrived, he already had his head in the bushes. We looked around some more then rechecked some stuff to end in the right place. We got there just a few minutes after dw. Some words I can't repeat here came out of MotorBug's mouth. TFTC!

04:06 PM
3:26 pm - I parked in the designated Geocacher parking and began my search. I checked the right spot soon, but missed the cache. The hint led me to focus on the wrong thing, so I went for a lifeline. This is one of the more humane versions of this hide. Thanks.

03:26 PM
3:06 pm - It's nice to see a good-sized cache here. I found it quickly. TNLNSL. Thanks!

03:06 PM
2:57 pm - Yes, that's one strong magnet. I even got a pinch when I went to replace it. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at
02:57 PM
2:41 pm - That's a pretty cruel placement right next to a big window. I found it on a hail mary grab. It was interesting to watch the construction while I rolled up the log. I was good and resisted the temptation to stop in for a treat. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at
02:41 PM
2:22 pm - The most difficult part of this one was finding a way in since my autorouter wanted me to park on the side of Central Expressway. Found it on my second look when I got there. TFTC and number!

02:22 PM
2:10 pm - As I approached this one, I had to question whether this was a MotorBug or tonton hide. :D
I can't believe winini found it at 4:25 am. He must really be a vampire. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
02:10 PM
1:36 pm - As we were scoping out possible locations for this one, MotorBug suddenly yelled "GeoPile!" and there it was. That looked like a fun bridge to walk across, but we decided not to. TNLNSL. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
01:36 PM
1:29 pm - OK, you got us. Found it in the SECOND place we looked. Thanks.

1:24 pm - Quick find. TNLNSL. Thanks.

01:24 PM
1:15 pm - My wife and I solved this on a flight back from New England a while ago. Today MotorBug and I were in the area to grab it. These kinds of puzzles take nicely to outputting coordinates, don't they? It didn't take long to find this, which is a good thing in this location. TNLNSL. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at
01:15 PM
12:25 pm - Now that was mighty cruel to put this one on the other side from the rest. We made it into a good walk though and found the cache under the watch of muggles. Thanks.

12:25 PM
12:02 pm - Good camo on this one. We spent a bunch of time looking before MotorBug came up with it. TNLNL. Thanks!

11:56 am - This one only took a quick look having seen the container a few times earlier in the day. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
11:56 AM
11:39 am - I thought this one would be over by the casting ponds, but there were plenty of people over here fishing too.
MotorBug did his compass calibration dance while I found the cache. Then I made him fix the clock on his Palm because it always looked like he got to caches a minute before me. :) Thanks!

11:39 AM
11:12 am - This was a bit of an odd placement. The first place I checked close by appeared to be a vagrant's bathroom. Nasty. TNLN and we were glad to get out of there.
Posted by jeff at
11:12 AM
11:12 am - We checked something else green first, the found the right area and the cache. A cop drove by as I was replacing it but didn't give us notice. Thanks.

7:38 pm - MotorBug was tight-lipped about hints on this one, so failure was not an option.
I had the right idea right away, but for some reason I checked every other possibility before I found the right one. Since it was dark, I didn't realize that the bushes had thorns on them before I plunged my hand in. Ouch. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
07:38 PM
5:25 pm - Someday I'm going to keep count of all the caches I've found in places where there used to be another cache. I believe there used to be one under the snail here. I think this one one will last a bit longer. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at
05:25 PM
5:15 pm - MotorBug and I had to wait out a guy who came in at the same time we did. We chatted and MotorBug had a coke while we waited. Lots of cool stuff in this BK. I especially like the floor tiles.
The guy finally left and we switched booths. MotorBug seemed to really like the stories here, but I was too busy working on getting the coordinates.
We found the cache just fine though it was getting really cold out. TNLNSL. Thanks!

05:15 PM
4:24 pm - As I was driving through this neighborhood, it started to look familar. I remembered why when I passed my boss's house. Hi boss!
I found the cache quickly under the eyes of muggles. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
04:24 PM
4:11 pm - I think I need to carry around a small notepad or something. Doing these multis by typing the answers and scrolling around takes forever. Anyway, I got them right and found the cache too between laps of runners. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
04:11 PM
4:11 pm - MotorBug was all worked up on this one, calling it "hard". A little spooky, but not hard once you look in the right place! TNLNSL. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at
04:11 PM
3:33 pm - I didn't realize they had built a new parking area here or I would have parked here. I thought the cache was just to show the general area of where to park. We hit it on the way back after a tour of the park.
MotorBug was more ambitious than I and found the cache far away from where I was looking. His PDA apparently thought it was too was good for him and tried to escape. We got a mile away before MotorBug realized it was missing. We went back and found it sleeping quietly by the creek. Another fine escape plan foiled!

03:33 PM
3:20 pm - MotorBug made me bushwhack through the poison oak to this one.
He was probably just taking advantage of me because I was wearing shorts. Of course when we got close we found a nice trail.
The cache was nicely stocked. TNLNSL. Thanks!

03:20 PM
2:33 pm - TimberToo and MotorBug told the story. Strange coincidence! Thanks for drying it out for us.
Posted by jeff at
02:33 PM
2:14 pm - I did the mapwork on this one long ago. Today MotorBug and I found ourselves in the area. When we got there, my GPS read less than 20 feet from where my calibrated map waid it would be. Pretty good! It was quite visible from the trail. I can't believe PisoMajado found this yesterday in all that rain! TNLNSL. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at
02:14 PM
1:22 pm - I drove by this once and thought it would be great place for a cache. Thanks for taking care of that! Although MotorBug had found this cache, he couldn't remember where it was, so I had to do it all by myself.
TNLNSL. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
01:22 PM
1:07 pm - I'd call the terrain rating on this one a bit high since it's so short. It was a great clear day out so we took a minute to check out the view. Without any foliage, the cache was very easy to spot. TNLNSL. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
01:07 PM
I stopped by with MotorBug to replace the cache and sign the new log. We were successful on both accounts. Cache on!
Posted by jeff at
01:00 PM
12:47 pm - There are some nice views up here, but it must be hard to give people directions to your house.
Unfortunately we couldn't find the cache, just a bunch of old bottles.
Posted by jeff at
12:47 PM
12:24 pm - MotorBug and were chatting as we approached this cache and he made some kind of bodily gesture that I missed. A few seconds later, a woman in an SUV stopped to tell MotorBug he was a good dancer.
I found the cache after a few minutes. I didn't expect a pond up here. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
12:24 PM
12:13 pm - I thought this was pretty cool. You don't often see a reason for two water flows to have to cross each other.
I looked at the water flowing strongly for a bit then decided it was time to look for the cache. Too bad, MotorBug had already grabbed it! Oh well, thanks for the cache.
Posted by jeff at
12:13 PM
12:04 pm - MotorBug had this one in his hand for seconds. It could probably use some reinforcement as we weren't sure it it was going to stay together. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
12:04 PM
11:59 am - Yes, I'm once again back to this park. MotorBug refound it before I had a chance to find it for the first time! Thanks.
Posted by jeff at
11:59 AM
11:52 am - I remember the previous incarnation. This one is a lot tricker. MotorBug wasn't sure about where he found it when he was here, so I found it pretty much on my own. A bit yucky, but got it relatively cleanly. Thanks.
Posted by jeff at
11:52 AM
11:45 am - This was a really quick one. MotorBug stayed in the car, and I found it without the GPS. Thanks!
Posted by jeff at
11:45 AM
11 am - I was listening to MotorBug's message on my cell phone threating to leave to go chase a FTF if I didn't get to his house soon when I pulled into his driveway.
Tisk, tisk, MotorBug - you said you would give them up after 100. We headed out and saw no geomobiles in the parking lot. At one point in our search I was surprised when a coworker walked by; he was probably more surprised to see me on a Sunday morning digging around in the bushes.
Markens showed up after a while. Depite my best efforts to convince him that the cache was archived and he should leave immediately, he didn't believe me and started his own quest for the FTF.
Finally, MotorBug did his thing where he found the cache, then walked far away and announced he had found it. Then markens did the same thing. Bastards! I conceded defeat and they showed me the right area. Yeah, the coords are just a tad off. I'd prefer his coordinates over markens, only because he uses a Garmin.
Thanks for the cache.

11:55 am - It's hard to imagine this place being a busy port these days. It's like the town that time forgot. This was my first time out this weekend after battling a cold and I still felt pretty bad while searching. After digging around we spotted it in plain sight. Thanks!

Geez, I wish coordinates from a log showed up in email notifications. I didn't realize that Team Spoonhead had posted new ones. Looking at the new ones I realized that I mistyped the original longitude, 966 instead of 996. Oops. Sorry about that folks.

1:00 pm - It was cold and snowy out today and that probably didn't help us in trying to find this cache. We got the info, double-checked it and then searched for at least 20 minutes but couldn't find anything in the snow. I think this one is underrated, especially since D is ambiguous and F produces a negative number in our interpretation.
