Dumb Error Message of the Day

Posted by Jeff Boulter on 8 March 2006, 6:18 pm

This is from an internal Oracle tool at work. Break the user’s back button and then blame them for using it with a big red Error message. Nice.

Vacation Blog Day 12: The Long Journey Home

Posted by Jeff Boulter on 6 March 2006, 9:45 pm

It was another early start. We had to be ready to be off the boat by 8 am and they started blaring over the intercom earlier than that to make sure everyone was up. After a few last bites in the cafe, they called our color and we headed off the ship. The port was …

Vacation Blog Day 11: The Gift of a Decision

Posted by Jeff Boulter on 5 March 2006, 7:06 pm

Our digital camera is quite old. It has only a 1.3 megapixel sensor, takes FOUR AAs, and uses SmartMedia. You often have to blow on the card to get it to work. Compared to current cameras, it’s huge and heavy. It’s one of those pieces of technology we know we need to upgrade, but we …

Vacation Blog Day 10: Grand Cayman

Posted by Jeff Boulter on 4 March 2006, 6:59 pm

Grand Cayman was a scheduled “Jeff and Anne” adventure day. That means that we rent a car and try to see as much of the island as possible. Strangely, after Aruba, none of my family wanted to join us. 🙂 The big issue in Grand Cayman was going to be driving on the left side …

Vacation Blog Day 9: @C

Posted by Jeff Boulter on 3 March 2006, 7:48 pm

I really like the balance of days doing nothing at sea and crazy adventures when at port. After two days of crazy adventures, I appreciated sleeping in and doing nothing. I found a slot machine that wasn’t completely surrounded with smoke and said goodbye to $20. Big gambler, I am. Spending another day at sea …

Vacation Blog Day 8: Costa Rica

Posted by Jeff Boulter on 2 March 2006, 8:41 pm

Day 8 was another early start. We assembed in a lounge until our group was cleared to leave. The destination was the Crazy Monkey Canopy Tour. I’m not sure how Anne convinced me to sign up for this weeks ago, but it sounded fun at the time. Since then I just felt nervous about the …

Vacation Blog Day 7: A man, a plan…

Posted by Jeff Boulter on 1 March 2006, 9:59 pm

The day started early – 5:30 am. That was when the ship approached the locks of the canal. When Anne got on the deck, it was still dark. As the sun rose, we passed through the canal. It was neat to see and amazing that this thing was ever built. It also gave me a …

11 Facts about the Panama Canal

Posted by Jeff Boulter on 1 March 2006, 7:15 pm

1. The canal is not just a “path” of water bewteen the two oceans. There are a series of 6 locks in two parallel tracks that raise and lower ships between the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean. 2. The locks had to be built because of the terrain. The highest point is 85 feet above …

Vacation Blog Day 6: “The Island”

Posted by Jeff Boulter on 28 February 2006, 4:27 pm

Another lazy day at sea. After all of yesterday’s fun I was beat so I lounged around in my room for a while. I flipped on the TV to one of those channels where they play the same movie over and over again in a loop. “The Island” appeared to be just starting. The movie …

Vacation Blog Day 5: Aruba

Posted by Jeff Boulter on 27 February 2006, 10:53 pm

I was last in Aruba about 13 years ago. I remembered only a pool, a beach, a casino and a windmill. Today we set off to rent a car and tour the island, and we did. After waiting for an Avis guy to pick us up, the 6 of us got into Suzuki XL-7 and …
