One thing that’s annoyed me is that there’s no easy way to enter GPS coordinates on the web and get a map or look up other info about those coordinates. There are some conversion utilities out there, but they’re a pain to use, requring a lot of cutting and pasting.
I decided to build a better mousetrap with my own converter and mapper tool.
Check it out and let me know what you think.
Jeff,
This is exactly what I have been looking for. I think my company would be happy to own a copy of copies of a stand along converter like this.
Thanks,
Randy
This is a great tool that you created. If you can get it to work with Map24 that would be really cool.
I like it. Very easy to use and clean. I was using Google maps by centering a location and then using the link to page feature to extract the coordinates then a converter to change them to degrees. Clicking on your Google map is so much simpler. You have earned a free copy of any my cataloging apps. Let me recommend Gamepedia just finishing up the 1.0 release still in Beta 0.9 but looking good. It’s core is based on the more mature brothers at 2.2 version so there nothing to fear from the beta. Like any good looking program it’s just for your Mac, so head on to Bruji.com and drop me an email for a free serial code if you are interested in any of the programs.
Can you inform me how to enter co-ordinates in WGS 84 format and convert them to decimaal degree format?
Thanks,
Jim
Wow! this tool is great! geocachers everywhere should thank you!
Like Jim (above), I’m confused how to enter coordinates. Some times they work for me, some times not! Thanks!
Great tool…But how do I convert GPS to Google Map Lat & Longs?
i liked what you did there, and because you are expert in this, i would like to ask you, whether you can help me to write a program that records GPS data(longitude and latitude, when a button is pressed a KML-document should be generated that describes the bounding box.
Thank You !
hi..
Your work is awesome… u seem to be an expert on this so I guess u like to help strugglers like me… we are suppose to do a conversion from an output taken from a GPS Receiver to (X, Y) coordinates matching to our country in order it to be plotted on a map. Can u please tell a way so that I can implement a converter program for this purpose…
Thank u…
Very useful. Thanks a lot!
Very very useful. Thanks a lot!
If it could be used without Java script command, it can easy be used also by most common mobile telephone handsets.
hi Jeff Boulter
thats a great work it will be a greater if you provide the source codes to others so that they can use it for their projects
Thank you. Great work. Just what I was looking for. Neat and simple.
Thanks. Beautiful little app.
Well done 🙂 It helped me a lot. Thank you.
It doesn’t work,
Left hand lower corner says error on page
Hi Jeff Boulter
That’s a great work. But it would be really nice if you provide the source codes. I’d rather would rely on own hosted solution if possible.
Best regards
Fantastic great mod but i would have to agree with Tanie Rozmowy a hosted solution would be great
Thanks, this helped me double check a map point. Very nice in its simplicity. If you were to put this in a software package, the only thing I would add is the ability to change your projection for xy’s.
wow this is a greate job . I’m looking for a java or any other code of a converter like this one .I’m now realy in trouble can you help me with this.
I’ll be grateful
Hi and thanks for this tool – I use it alot as it helps double checking coords when placing a cache
Thank you Jeff. I am using your tool to find gravesites. Findagrave.com is putting GPS coordinates of famous persons on their website. Now if I don’t have a cemetery map, I’ll be able to zero in to the spot! You’re wonderful!
Hey! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this website?
I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at options for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
I use wordpress. Yeah, you have to keep it updated. I use basic auth on the admin part which keeps the hackers away.
