Grand Canyon Adventure

Rob's face was stuck this way for the entire trip. Not much else out there besides trains. The drive... eight hours from Los Angeles to Sedona... with many bathroom stops More scenic vistas along Highway 40.
Sliding Rock State Park, Sedona, Arizona. Look! More rocks! The sad remains of many bugs on our windshield. This looks like a camel; no wait, it's a dromedary!
Jeff got seven phone calls from work- don't cell phones EVER lose their signal? Grasshopper Point Recreation Area- Rob almost fell in trying to take this picture. Wow, a dromedary from far away. Rush hour in Sedona.
Dem sunsets are purrddeee. Another one of those rock things. This is a crazy chapel built right into the rocks. It was small inside, but they had a pretty good gift shop. View from behind the chapel.
Looking out over Sedona from the chapel. The Sedona Airport is the highest point in town. The view of a tree out of the window of a ruin of a cliff dwelling. A "wall" inside the cliff dwellings.
The doorway to one of the cliff dwellings. I bet these windows were easy to clean. If this was Anne's window, there would be a flower box on it. Rob pretending to believe the geology stuff that this volunteer is spewing.
Stay off ancient mound. Wow, big hole in the ground. Yes, the last picture is slightly different. The good news is that if the idiot fence doesn't keep you from falling off the edge, you're not an idiot.
It was really a lot colder than this looks, at least on the top. Elevation at the rim: 7000 ft. Elevation of the Colorado River: 2000 feet. That's a long fall. Anne was getting camera happy. It's pretty hard to take a bad picture of the Grand Canyon.
The North Rim across the canyon is a couple hundred feet higher than the South Rim. The earth is a little tilty in this one. Yup.
They're not posing; they were frozen there. Rob does actually believe that he is Ray Charles. Eustacia is happy that she'll be back in the hot tub at the Best Western in a few hours.
Anne sez: "That's a pretty picture!" more trees less trees Jeff was resting comfortably in the car when it started to get dark. The rest of the troupe showed up 2 hours later.
Yes, it is way too dark to be still hiking. View from the East rim including the Colorado River. It was apparently dyed brown(?) for St. Patrick's Day. The view from Desert View You should know 3/4 of the people in this picture.
Desert. Desert. Desert. Desert. Weird Mound. Desert. Desert. The Grand Canyon ends here. Please step off onto the moving walkway on your right. We let Eustacia loose with some chalk. Hanging out in the Desert View tower.
