The Ultimate Multipuzzlecache

7:37 pm - When this puzzle showed up, I started exploring it and started coming up with all kinds of interesting directions. I started to run into dead ends and the puzzle seemed to get deeper and deeper. That's when I decided that we needed a larger hammer and called in a slew of local puzzle solving masters.

One hider was cornered and questioned for hints, then we gathered to collect the evidence and come to some conclusions. A large string of emails followed.

We had some of the right ideas, but finally found one critical piece that got us to stage 2.

At stage 2, some of the puzzlers went ahead and solved the rest quickly, which was a bit dissapointing - not because they were able to finish it - but more because I was expecting this to be an epic puzzle that would take weeks. At that point, I put it on the back burner for a while.

I finally got around to tackling the rest of the puzzle this week and solicted some help for some of the details and to clean up my sloppy mistakes. The final answer was very satisfying and well-integrated into the theme.

I had a nice hike out to the cache site and found it easily though the mosquitos didn't make me feel welcome. I took the high adventure TB and something else.

Thanks for the excellent puzzle, guys! Posted by jeff at July 10, 2004 07:37 PM
