It’s hard to believe. While it’s exciting to see her learn and grow, there’s one thing we’ll miss about her being under 2 – flying for free. It’s a perk we’ve taken advantage a lot and not just when we lived on the West coast.

I was curious how much we’ve actually flown with her, so I went through all our old itineraries and made a map.

How far has Audrey flown? Over 60,000 miles. That’s just straight line distance without connections, so the real number is even higher. That’s around the world twice. If it was all on one airline, she would have at least one free flight.

Her earliest flight was when she was 3 months and 2 days old. Her latest was at 1 year and 364 days. She’s been to 12 destination cities.

She’s been a pretty good traveler too. She loves to walk (or be walked) up and down the aisle and say hello to everyone.

I’m sure we’ll be going on many more trips with her, but I’d say she’s had a pretty good start.

They both really like it.

At one recent lapsit at the Sunnyvale Library, the library made a video. Audrey appears at the 1 minute and 12 second mark. I don’t know they showed the other babies so much; Audrey is clearly the best!

I think the kid has more books than I do now. A few weeks ago it got to the point where we had nowhere to put them all so we went down to Ikea and bought a bookshelf. Anne went to a few more book sales and came home with even more books.

Now people are starting to ask what books she already has so she doesn’t get duplicates. “Normal” people would just write down the list of books and email it to people. Not me. There’s a geekier way to do it.

First, I fired up Delicious Monster and scanned the ISBN codes of all Audrey’s books using the iSight camera built into my Macbook Pro. About 20% of them didn’t work for whatever reason so we had to look them up manually. Once I finished that, I found DeliciWeb, ran it against Audrey’s 146 books and uploaded them to my web server.

So there you have it, a nice list of Audrey’s books. Anne would be thrilled if she got more. I only ask that they be small ones so we don’t have to go to Ikea again too soon.

Odd factoid: the Red Fish, Blue Fish, Old Fish, New Fish book Anne picked up for 50 cents is selling for $127 on Amazon. I have no idea why. Anyone want to buy a bath book?

Great! She lost a little weight, which is normal. The biggest challenge is getting the hang of the feeding.

I’ll be off work until August 6 at least. Anne will need lots of help as she recovers from the c-section.

Yup, we’ve got a pretty full house through August, starting with Anne’s Mom on August 6.

What other names did you consider?

Sidney and Ainsley were in the final three. She just looked more like an Audrey when we met her.

Are you staying at the hospital?

Yes, in the room on the world’s most uncomfortable cot. I’m tired enough that this does not matter however.

I was up for some of it, but she wanted me to be rested, so slept some. We called the midwife this morning and she said to come in for a labor check. We’re taking all our stuff just in case we don’t come back for a couple days.
