I too want to add my belated condolences to you and your family. We who love our pets also have to be responsible and do what is best for our pets and our own lives.

Most of have teary tales of when we had to make 'that decision' for the betterment of our pets. It is never easy.

God Bless. May she be happily playing with my Samson and Chief!

Sorry this is late in getting posted. Looking for something else I just happened across your blog about Pixel. It's such a hard thing to do, but unlike with a dog, sometimes you just can't retrain a cat. A few years ago we lost one of ours to a urinary crytals. The vet punctured his urethra and sent him home on a Friday and of course he was one sick boy by Monday. So much damage done, we had no choice but to put him to sleep. Long story short, one of our females began acting very aggressive towards the other cats, nearly killing one of the smallest because she was too terrorized to eat. We tried everything too. Valium worked until it wore off. All of our cats came from the SPCA, so I called them to take her back. Hopefully she will be better off in a single cat home. When there is a disruption in the hierarchy in the cat/human family sometimes nothing happens, sometimes terrible things happen. At least you know you did everything you could to help Pixel and you didn't just put him out on the street. Bless you for that. I hope life is getting easier and that you are feeling better about your decision. It's never easy being a responsible pet owner. Take care of yourself and your family. You and your wife sound like kind and thoughtful people.

I'm sure that was a hard decision all around. I know you'll miss your companion, but with a child running around, you're right.. thats a hard thing to add to your workload.
