Bocce Ball

By: candcfamily Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I visited Alameda to grab a few quads for the BAQC. This was the third, in a very pleasant park to enjoy the summer afternoon. TN, L my trackable sig token, SL. TFTC!

Downtown Campbell Walking Tour

By: Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

This was a fun prelude to the unevent, as a bunch of geocachers wandered around downtown Campbell for almost an hour. Many faces were familiar to me, but others were new. A few of the locations were familiar to me, but most were new. TN, L my trackable sig token, SL. Thanks for showing us downtown Campbell, and TFTC!

The Double Cache of Doubleness

By: GraffnTrix and Dorian Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I dropped by this afternoon to redeem my earlier DNF. When I arrived, willye6 and a couple of his friends had already retrieved the cache. I loaned him a pen so he could sign the log, and then they replaced the cache right where the hint in the first "brother" said it belonged. Some experimentation revealed that the first tool I had tried might have retrieved the cache with some difficulty, that the second tool I had tried wouldn't work at all, and that a third tool (which I hadn't had with me last time) retrieved the cache easily. I left my trackable sig token for this nano-cache with willye6. TNLNSL. Thanks for placing this creative multi-cache, and TFTC!

The Double Cache of Doubleness

By: GraffnTrix and Dorian Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This cache was on my "nearest to church" list and sounded interesting, so I dropped by to find it. I didn't find the first "brother", but I spotted a location where I thought the second "brother" might be hiding. Unfortunately, the tool I had available could not retrieve the second "brother", but using it, I thought I could detect the second "brother" in its hiding place. I returned shortly with a different tool, but when I tried to use it to retrieve the second "brother", I came up empty. I searched for the first "brother" some more, and then decrypted the hint automatically on my mobile device (despite the CO's attempt to thwart automatic decryption). I then foun d the first "brother" quickly and read the the hint inside, which confirmed that I was searching for the second "brother" in the correct location, but indicated a different type of container than I was expecting. Unfortunately, I found no sign of the type of container indicated by the hint inside th e first "brother".

The CO should probably check on the second "brother".

You Can Turn That Page Now

By: eagleneb22 (with help from my2002cali) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We lived about a mile walk from here for 9 years, so I'm familiar with this library, and with the sculpture. But I never looked at the sculpture quite this way before... SMILIE Thanks for the checksum. It took a couple tries before I got DE right. [:I] But then the coordinates were very good, making the cache a relatively quick find, once there was a break in the muggle traffic. Just My Size

By: Geo Baby Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I was one of the people who grabbed this one after the Team Checkers' First 10K event. I need to figure out a better way to do paperless multi-caches, because reading the cache description on the same device that I'm using to record the coordinates of the next stage is awkward. Still, it was an easy find since WalruZ was holding the container when we reached GZ. :) TN, L my trackable sig token, SL. FWGB. TFTC!

PurplePeople's Posey Perambulation

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Mrs. niraD and I arrived late for PurplePeople's Posey Perambulation, but we were able to catch up to everyone at the third waypoint (which turned out to be waypoint 6, since we visited waypoints 2-7 in reverse order). The weather was beautiful. We enjoyed hiking and visiting, and especially enjoyed PurplePeople explaining the geology and flora of Edgewood. Except for Mrs. niraD's guide dog nibbling on some PO, I thoroughly enjoyed this birthday. TN, L my trackable sig token, SL. Mrs. niraD and I kicked off the new year by joining sammydee's GBA group hike in Santa Teresa County Park. This was my sixth find of the day. CrazyOn2Wheels made the find, after he, sammydee, and I collected the necessary information for the final coordinates. Take a Gamble

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I've been here before, but just to attend a class. This time, I got to do a lot more exploring. And this was such a beautiful morning to explore the gardens. After finding the information I needed, I walked to the final. I knew what to look for, since I had seen Marky making one at LSOH4. TNLNSL (in space 7 of 37). DT21 & FW @ 10K

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 5.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

After finding a couple puzzle finals and picking up a few more quadrangles for the BAQC, I decided it was time to try to grab the final for this one. After all, it has been near the top of my "nearest to home" list since it was published almost 2 years ago. The hard part was finding it the second time: As I was replacing the blinker, I dropped it on the ground. [:O] Walking back to my car, I met one of the previous finders, who lives in the neighborhood. We had a nice chat. TNLNSL. (I signed the next available space on the front of the log, although there are already several signatures on the back of the log.) I'll keep my trackable sig token for this nano-cache moving. Thanks for the challenge, and TFTC!

Procrastinator's Stash

By: Fyrfly Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Other

This was a great cache to end a dry spell of 3.5 weeks: camo ammo! (Nice camouflage at stage 1, and a nice ammo box at stage 2.) And this was a beautiful morning for a bike ride. One of the digits was a bit ambiguous at stage 1, so after finding stage 2, I re-inked stage 1 with my Sharpie. Swapped digitalfish. Stamp Exchange

By: E.caballus Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The description page needs to be updated to indicate the correct size and type of container. It is no longer a Small container and it is no longer "a Rubbermaid container, about pint size". And since the cache had migrated some distance before I returned it to a location that matches the description page, it's probably a good idea for the owner to make sure it's hidden where it's supposed to be hidden.

Stamp Exchange

By: E.caballus Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I dropped by this morning to redeem my earlier DNF. After reading the most recent logs, I expanded my search radius. I was a bit concerned to find a film canister (not "a Rubbermaid container, about pint size") located more than AB yards away (not "about AB feet away"). I rechecked the cache description, and confirmed that it did say "about AB feet" rather than "about AB yards". Then I re-hid the container in a location that matches the description page, but I'm not sure it's where the owner originally hid it. Stamp Exchange

By: E.caballus Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I dropped by this morning before work. As others have mentioned, working the math was easy enough. Thanks for the checksum though: I made a classic mistake when calculating one of the digits. But when I reached GZ, I came up with nothing. Eventually I read the hint, which matched a location I had checked, but where I hadn't found anything. I assumed that it was muggled and continued on my way. However, from reading the logs, I think this may just be a bit harder to find than most 1.5-star hides.

Go Fish

By: PrincessIchi Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I loved this one! I found stage 1 quickly in the obvious spot, once the waiting muggles departed. As I approached the location for stage 2, I knew exactly where it was. Still, it took a few tries to get it. There was no stash note, so I left a waterproof one. Dislocater, Jr.

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I guess I just wasn't meant to find this one this morning. First, I miscounted the letters in a word and ended up almost on top of another cache, with the GPSr pointing well over "a foot or so off the path".

So I returned to the information panel, found my error, and set off for the new coordinates. That seemed like a much more logical place, but I came up empty. I returned to the information panel again to recheck my answers, didn't find any more errors, and returned to sea rch my second location again. Still nothing. Now that I'm logging it, it seems that I was working from old data. [:(] I hate it when that happens. Still, it was a pleasant morning to ride along the baylands...
