Silicon Valley Treasure Hunt

By: candcfamily 2.0 Difficulty: 4.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Yahoo! This one has been at the top of my "nearest to work" list for a couple weeks now, and I finally solved it! At first, I had no idea where to start. Watching a volleyball game didn't help at all. But eventually I stumbled upon a few pieces to the puzzle, including a key piece that put the others in context. Then I found other pieces, and started figuring out how they fit together.

I can see how treating this treasure hunt as a social activity might help, but I ended up solving most of it on my own. At one point, I did ask for help from coworkers who are quite experienced with the theme of this puzzle. While they did point me to a resource that I found somewhat useful, they couldn't actually help m e with any of the puzzle pieces I was struggling with. Later, I reported what I thought might be an error to the owner, who offered a hint that nudged me to finish the remaining pieces.

Once I had the treasure map in hand (so to speak), I decided to grab the cache ASAP. I dropped by tonight after l eaving work. There was no stash note, so I left a waterproof one. T the girl's TB, L Mauison's Gettysburg Geocoin and my trac kable sig token, SL. Many parts of this treasure hunt were familiar to me (including the final hide location), but many were new to me. Thanks for an excellent enjoyable and educational puzzle, and TFTC!

HELL CACHE: Deception Unsolved

By: CACHE, The Devilish Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

"When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." - Sherlock Holmes (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) Given the sparse nature of the description page, there weren't many impossibilities to eliminate before all that remained was the (rather improbable) truth. Very nicely done, Sir! The construction of this puzzle is impressive! (Of course, I still don't understand the meaning of the hint...)

This morning, I was in the area so I dropped by for the quick find. TN, L my trackable sig token, SL. Thanks for a very enjoyable puzzle, and TFTC!

Encounter of the DVD Kind

By: boulter Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This alien language was unfamiliar to me, so it took me a while to identify it. Then I tried translating it with a reference that turned out to be incomplete. But eventually, I understood the meaning of the message. This morning, I was in the area, so I dropped by for the quick find. There was no stash note, so I left a waterproof one. Hanging out with Heinz

By: carolehu and sealjane Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I remember when my wife and I used to patronize the little corner grocery store and the laundromat that were in this building. That was quite a while ago. Anyway, I was in the area, so I dropped by for a quick find this morning. There was no stash note, so I left a waterproof one. There was no sign of a geocoin. Inertia Helen

This was a fun puzzle. Even after I figured out how it worked, I still enjoyed solving it for the coordinates. It reminds me of an abstract board game that I've played occasionally. By: truedat101 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This cache was on my "nearest to work" list, so I dropped by this morning. It's a good thing I checked the updated cache listing rather than using the old version! BTW, the hint still describes the old location. There was no stash note, so I left a waterproof one. Caltrain Secret Entrance

By: jasmerb Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Wow... How many times have I driven under this bridge? How many times have I used the Cal Ave station? How many times have I crossed the parallel bridges (Park, Alma, or Caltrain)? But I had no idea this bridge was here. This cache was on my "nearest to church" list, so I dropped by this morning before work. I found the cache quickly, thanks to the spot-on coordinates and the notice about it not being in the bushes. TN, L my trackable sig token, SL. TFTC!

Bear Bagging

By: virtualdavid Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I really liked this one! The design and implementation are excellent, although once again I parked my bike, started searching elsewhere, and then expanded my search radius enough to find the cache almost on top of my bike.
