Border Patrol #2

By: DavidT21 & Fisherwoman Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I was in the area, so I dropped by tonight. The hint confirmed that I was searching in the right area, but I still couldn't find it. I was searching after dark, so maybe it's easier to spot during the day.

GFC 4 PF

By: ourwebstop Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

We were in Oregon visiting close friends (one is a GFC alum), and I had a couple opportunities to get in a little geocaching. When I arrived at this location, I was afraid that the cache might have been muggled recently by the landscaping crew. But I found the container safe and sound. There was no stash note, so I left one. TN, L niraD sig token, SL. TFTC!

We were in Oregon visiting close friends, and I had a couple opportunities to get in a little geocaching. I had noticed this location, but hadn't stopped to take it in until I went looking for this cache. Nice hide, BTW. There was no stash note, so I left one. TN, L niraD sig token, SL. TFTC!

Say Ahhhhh!

By: DocWMB and The Nagrivator Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

We were in Oregon visiting close friends, and I had a couple opportunities to get in a little geocaching. It's a good thing no one was around on Sunday afternoon, because I made this one much harder than it needed to be. I started by searching a more difficult area than where the cache is actually hidden. And then I discovered that my Palm computer had fallen out of my shirt pocket, so I had to search that area again. T Shop99er sig item, L skin ointment and niraD sig token, SL. TFTC!

Half a star might be a bit generous, given that the solution presented itself, without me needing to do any extra work at all. Goose for the Gander

By: UncleTom Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The Sacagewea dollar is still safe. I tried a couple other resources first, but ended up using Google. I replaced the torn ziplock. (How did it get torn after so few finders?!) T black Echo token (one of winini's "101 TFTs" caches is showing up on my nearest caches list, and this was my first of his tokens), L CA wooden nickle and niraD sig token, SL. By: CTomGeo Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I square-danced with the Stanford Quads back in college, but my wife and I haven't done much square dancing for quite a while. I was at the cache location several weeks ago, but was short on time and spotted the container just before I had to leave. I came back today when I had time to retrieve the container, sign the log, and return the container--hopefully without drawing the attention of any of the hundreds of people passing by. Fame

By: trode Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Good grief! What a comedy of errors! I was working from an old copy of the cache description that didn't have the latest hints. And of course, I didn't read trode's log about adding the latest hints. And I didn't notice that my final coordinates' checksum was 64, rather than 54. I rechecked my calculations for the coordinates a couple times, but I never rechecked my calculations for the checksum.

Fame

By: trode Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I used Google to find the famous sentence (although it took a couple attempts to get the search parameters right), and an online acquaintance helped me with the famous poet. But when I ran the numbers, the checksum was wrong. So I ran the numbers again, doing it the "stupid American" way this time. The checksum was still wrong, and even further off. Back to Google: the famous poet's name was misspelled. When I ran the numbers again, the checksum matched. In the satellite photo, GZ was just barely on private property, but there was plenty of public property just across the fence. However, I didn't find anything on the public property near GZ after half an hour. Then I took a SWAG and found the container about 150 feet away from GZ. The log was soak ed, so I dried it on my car's defroster and replaced the ziplock. TN, L niraD sig token, SL. TFTC!

Northern CA Solar System Model: Shoemaker-Levy

By: bthomas (Maintained by kindredlaugh) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was a trivial "puzzle", but thank you for not making it a multi-cache with xx micros in the woods (where xx equals the number of lettered fragments, of course [;)]). I found it quickly this morning on the way to Planet Jupiter, which was my 200th find. After Planet Jupiter (my 200th find), I stopped by and quickly found this one. There was a swarm of earwigs on the container lid. There was no stash note, so I left one. TN, L tiny bear and niraD sig token, SL. TFTC!

Northern CA Solar System Model: Planet Jupiter

This was my 200th find! I found Shoemaker-Levy (my 199th find) on the way here, and then found Ganymede (my 201st find) before heading in to work. There is construction work nearby , but these three caches are fine. The container lid has cracked in one spot along the edge; it's ok ay for now, but should probably be replaced soon. I really enjoyed the morning walk along the lake, through the woods, and along the bay. Thanks for bringing me out here, and for inspiring the various extensions others have added to your Solar System series. TN, L antenna ball and niraD sig token, SL. TFTC!

GeoDice

By: mrZ Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

[This one brought back memories. Back in college, a friend kept half a dozen of us up into the wee hours of the night rolling dice and asking us questions.] How many roses? How many petals? How many stems? How many leaves? How many caterpillars? How many roots? [I enjoy parlor games like this, and I've learned several more since then: Snaps, Crossed or Uncrossed, The Good Book, Aunt Emma, Aunt Susan, Bang Bang, I'm Going on a Trip, etc., etc., etc. Anyway, given what I remembered from my college experience, I figured out cachers and muggles quickly, and it didn't take me too long to figure out caches. Tonight, the cache itself was an easy find after work. T 6, L seashell and niraD sig token, SL. Thanks for the puzzle, and TFTC!]

Sanchez Lagoon #1

By: nlrw Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

This is further north than I've been caching so far, but I was in the area to pick up a nearby puzzle cache, so I decided to stop for this one, too. It was a quick find. T tiny bear, L seashells and niraD sig token, SL. Thanks for the excuse to walk along the beautiful lagoon, and TFTC!

Sanchez Lagoon #2

By: nlrw Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

After finding the cache on the other side of the lagoon so quickly, it figures that this one would take me a while. I searched around GZ and didn't find it. I started picking up trash, which included a pill bottle (not covered with green tape though), a small ziplock, and a couple tiny ziplocks, and I grew concerned. After a while, I read the hint, which took me to a couple spots that were 40-50 feet away, but I didn't find it there either. There was more trash over by GZ though, so I went back there. Finally, after several trips to the nearby garbage can, I found the cache. Whew... The construction of the container seems a bit inconsistent with the way it's hidden, but I suppose that could be because it's a replacement container. This Sucks Too!

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Your previous sucky cache was missing when I finally got around to searching for it. Actually, it was missing and had already been archived. That sucked. I was in the area, so I figured I'd better pick up this sucky cache before it met the same fate. Actually, as sucky caches go, this one was in a nicer location than your previous one. Juana Find a Cache?

By: dw Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Little Bridge

By: nlrw Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

The third time's the charm. After reading rwclady's note, I decided to expand my search area just a bit. The first half of the encrypted hint refers to an act that is physically impossible unless you "leave the paved path" and enter the national wildlife refuge. When replacing the cache (from the paved path), I could not quite return it to the location where I found it, but I left it inches away, and hidden as well as it was when I found it. The owner emailed me more detail about how the cache container is camouflaged and where it was hidden. I had been expecting something quite different based on my interpretation of the hint, so I dropped by again this morning. I still couldn't find it.

Pizza: NOT on the Menu

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I dropped by to pick up this cache after finding stage 1 of a nearby multi-cache. I doubt you'll find Vegetarian with Italian Sausage Pizza on the menu, but I've ordered it anyway.
