Above It All?

By: BpSnake Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Claire and I searched for this cache. After finding it, we stuck around for a while trying to get the trucks to honk their horns at us. Lots of fun, I recommend it highly, but especially when it feels like the noise is going to blow you right off the overpass. MJP303

Code Breaker

By: DavidT21, Fisherwoman, Chrissy_SkyKing and Bl Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I looked for this cache several months ago, but unfortunately I was off by one in the longitude tenths, putting me on the wrong side of the canal after a challenging approach. Aided by correct information this time, Claire and I made the find. I dropped off a TB, and since the ammo box seemed a bit empty, left several small toys. Thanks, MJP303

Here's One for You

Got it! I love hiding places like this one. MJP303

Work Break

By: bykenut Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Did anyone ever use this park? Thanks for the stroll. No sign of the TB. MJP303

Salty Cache

By: MaxEntropy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Our trek to find this cache was uneventful...until the last two inches! Perserverence eventually paid off, however. Claire took the mini-BopIt; I left a tape measure, a Monsters, Inc. computer game, "Bowling for Screams", and a TB. Thanks, MJP303

Bay Area Multiple Hills - 4

By: Mhop (maintained by WalruZ) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Claire and I made the trek. We enjoyed laying in the new grass and soaking up the sun while resting from the rigors of the ascent. The views were fantastic, and very clear. Two down, three to go. Thanks, MJP303

Osborne

By: boren Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Found it. We had to backtrack a bit to avoid the mud, but found the cache safe and sound. Did the RR tracks make deliveries to the computer company? Thanks, MJP303

Longshot Cache

By: JSpaine & Team Fatboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

"Cache is long and thin, may not be good for travel bugs"...Well, certainly for most TB's, but I had one that would fit! I thought for sure someone was going to roll down their window and ask me what I was doing! Thanks, MJP303

Hit the Target

By: Alamogul Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I solved the puzzle in the simplistic way, and set out towards the coordinates, all the the while wondering, why 3 stars??? Much to my chagrin, the solution did not lead to me to the expected area, although it was close.

I was sure I was in the wrong place, but after making the effort, thought I'd better check and make sure.

What?!? There's a cache container, but, according to the description, it's not the right ty pe.

So, I open it. What a suprise!!!

I laughed for a good 5 minutes. It was definitely one of my most memorable geocaching moments.

Unfortunately, I was out of time, and had to be home.

I'll be back soon to hit the bullseye. After all, practice makes perfect. Oh, and, while we're at it.. .Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me!

Caches like this are why I love Geocaching. Thanks, MJP303

Serpentine Loop

By: DrHugAlot Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I spent about 15 minutes looking all over the area, and found the items mentioned in the hint. There was a piece of trash stuffed into the place I was sure would contain the cache. [?] MJP303

Not Lyin'

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Ted and I approached this cache just as PisoMojado and Finn were at work. We examined the other lion for a minute while they replaced it. Ted (4) found it first; he's becoming a great junior cacher. We spent a while talking as the boys played in the park. Thanks, MJP303

Wait Until Dark

By: Chuguy Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

Whew, it's 11pm, and things are starting to settle down. John (4), Ted (4), Maggie (7), and Claire (10) have had a bath, and all of the dirty clothes are in the washer. None of the previous cachers mentioned the presence of cows on the trail, but they certainly gave us a suprise. After struggling up the hill, we were intently looking for fireflies when we suddenly realized that we were surrounded by about a dozen sleepy animals. Mrs. MJP303 was "freaked out" (h er words), which didn't do much to inspire the confidence of the kids. Needless to say, the source of our suprise hightailed it out of there, and it took a couple of minutes for everyone to regain their composure.

We lost track of the trail for a few minutes, but knew we had to be in the right pla ce, so pressed on. Eventually the fireflies returned, but we ended up going in circles for a while. Morale was ebbing fast, but there was no way I was giving up with out a find, and let everyone know in no uncertain terms. After taking a breather and replacing batteries in several failing flashli ghts, victory was suddenly ours.

Everyone traded, and I collected a couple of the TB's for a trip back east next week. Given our earlier experience, the kids were very impressed with the cache container.

Thanks for a great cache, and an adventure we'll remember for a long time.

CalTrain - Bayshore

By: normanb Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

A lunch-time grab. I approached from the west side, and actually saw someone walking their dog. Lid camo is pretty much gone, so I rehid the cache upside down. MJP303

The Cuesta Quest

By: Beckerbuns Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I didn't see the doggie-do or any of the bugs. Mixed bag. I listened in on a couple in a nearby backyard loudly discussing their garden. MJP303

End of the Road

By: blackfrancis, adopted by Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I walked in this time. As I approached the cache, I could see someone reading. I assumed that it was a fellow geocacher studying the log book. After coming closer, I realized it wasn't. Well, he wasn't going anywhere, and I wasn't going to turn back without finding the cache after coming so far. So, I just started s earching. After a few minutes, he couldn't resist asking what I was doing. It turns out he knew about Geocaching and had a GPSr. Maybe he'll log this cache as his first find.

Fantastic views. Thanks, MJP303

Blown Away

By: DiveGupy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Recent rains have made the trail a bit muddy. I would suggest future visitors approach from the north side where the trail is paved for most of the way. I spotted the colored lid of the cache from about 50' away. The water had washed the previous visitor's camoflage job off, but all was dry inside. Fantastic view through the clouds. Thanks, MJP303

Methuselah

By: normanb Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

It was wet and foggy today. What a shame to think that these mountains were once filled with trees like this one. I felt like I do at the zoo: full of wonder, but sad that such a place has to exist. MJP303 PS: Took TB.

The Purloined Letter

By: geeklizzard and whimbrel Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I spotted it from the car. After a quick bite, I logged my visit and took the TB. MJP303
