Blank Kit Box

By: firemountain24 Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Woohoo! Jess solved a puzzle! *proud* Not normally adept at puzzles... at all. [:I]

Anyway, as soon as she saw this puzzle she had a good old go, but realised it was harder than she thought. She tried the next night and followed so very many tangents trying to find a lead. Did you know that there is an exchange box (?) at the publish ed coords on Google Street View with a yellow coloured square on the side of it? [:O] I kid you not. Firemountain24 was not giving anything away, and rightly so, so Mike and Jess bounced more ideas around but got nowhere. Jess even asked TAG if he had a clue and they explored a few avenues online bu t they all were dead ends.

Then Jess screwed her big head firmly on and announced that she would try solving the coordinates like huge algebraic formulae... [V] EPIC fail!!!

Thank goodness Firemountain24 published a second clue. SMILIE

A couple more dead ends and a little more twisting of ideas an d Jess spotted something. She stuffed the info into the formula and didn't even check her calculations *excited, lol* properly before checking it out on geochecker.

Well, she had spent so much time on this one that she just couldn't leave it and proudly told Mike and insisted that they go out and find it. Luckily Mike was as up for it as she was and they headed out into the night. Mike is better at finds so he did the honours at GZ while Jess got spooked by an approaching car (ghost car) that killed its lights and disappeared into thin air.

She Epitomised This

By: Fluffy's Revenge Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Well now, that was clever :) Jess spotted the solution but didn't 'see' the solution. She spent far too much time enjoying Google Streetview! I hope I haven't said too much. We chuckled over The Art Angell's log which we remembered when walking back from the find. The cache was guarded by two muggles today; one slow-walking rambler (more of a meanderer) and one even slower-walking dog walker. At one point we even had to walk off with the cache as there was no way of replacing. Still, we did and it is safe and exactly as described. TFTC [:D]

Trip Trap II

By: mattyboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

Crikey - just noticed this hasn't been found for ages. We stopped off to find this cache today as we needed it for our D/T grid, believe it or not! The find was quick. There seems to be a lot of damage at GZ but the cache was there in a likely hiding place. The lid was open due to the stickers inside poking out and there was no log book I'm afraid. It doesn't look like it's been muggled though. We found a receipt on the ground nearby so signed that and popped it in the cache. TFTC [:D]

Just For Jess!

By: T A G Difficulty: 5.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

Embarrassed? Me? Well, erm, yes [:I] but I'll not let on why!

Thanks for placing this here, TAG. I've got to say it's an evil one alright! Five and a half difficulty I think.

I saw this one in my inbox this morning and grinned the biggest grin [:D] I had an hour or two before work so I donned my walking boots an d headed on over to GZ.

I can quite proudly state that didn't get lost. [;)]

When I got there I was sure I'd find the cache straight away. But ohhhhhhhhh no. I was like a ferret in a warren in those arches. An empty pawed ferret at that! I spent over an hour; I looked here, I looked there, I look ed in, out, under, on top, around... I lifted things I shouldn't have lifted, I scrabbled and scrambled, I thought outside the box, I tried to engage my cacher's instinct...

Unfortunately I hadn't eaten any breakfast and I was losing energy and brainpower fast. A text message to TAG admitted as muc h and even though I deserve no mercy [:D] he must have felt sorry for me and pointed out I was in completely the wrong place.

A fresh hunt was on and a few more wrong turns before the cache was finally found (hurrah!) in the sneakiest of all sneaky places. Why I oughta... I was so grateful for tha t phone call because I would never have found it there in a month of Sundays. Not even two months. I wouldn't have given up though [:D]

I was also grateful because I was late for work by now and muddy, so I had to drive directly to school and hope the mud would magically dry up and shed by the time I got there. I don't think the kids noticed!

As I was taking a few snaps to add to the log Mr and Mrs Firemountain24 appeared in the same wrong place that I'd started in! Great minds think alike. SMILIE Lovely to see you both again.

From here we popped over to TAG's 49th, another evil hide!

On the second hunt (after a PAF) the cache was revealed. Phew!

By: fatforty Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Arrived at GZ to find two vehicles parked up. Hurrah, I thought, fellow cachers to catch up with. Alas, the vehicles belonged to bird watchers with the most enormous lenses I have ever seen. I had a quick glance around but could not commit to a proper hunt. Oh well.

Didn't quite know which way to go so read the cache page of the next. Had to wait a long time for a muggle. Time to clean boots then! TFTC [:D]

Oh my that is a lot of sticky mud. Jess invented a new game to pass the time: see how much mud you can pick up on your boots. It was fun. TFTC [:D]

Poshrule's Perambulate # 12

By: poshrule Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

We figured we were following in the footsteps of Zensunni and Bones as we'd seen their signature in every log and there were some footprints in the mud. Each footprint seemed to be slightly bigger than the one before it as they picked up mud. SMILIE TFTC [:D]

Well we thought it was going to be in the obvious place so we went to the obvious place and there the cache was - in the obvious place. Cracking. TFTC [:D]

"I'll see you at the next one" Jess shouted over her shoulder and eagerly trotted off into the distance. Then she felt lonely and decided never to do that again SMILIE TFTC [:D]

As we approached this one we pondered whether it was rain, drizzle or wet mist filling the valley. We were feeling optimistic SMILIE TFTC [:D]

We very wisely took a detour around the edge of the field as the path throught the middle looked decidedly muddy. It did us absolutely no good as we later found out! TFTC [:D]

We couldn't find this for a while so we walked this way, that way and everywhere else. At least the trail on the GPS made a pretty pattern SMILIE TFTC [:D]

New game! New game! Well, an old one but Jess put a name on it... "Muggle Chicken" You spot an approaching muggle and sign the log book and replace the cache as quickly as you can before they arrive. The closer the muggle is to GZ as you replace the cache, the more points awarded. Jess scored a big fat 10/10 here. Mike was convinced she'd get caught [:P] TFTC [:D]

A great cache - good location, easy find... However, Jess did this one alone after dark. As she parked up nearby she noticed another car was already parked, the driver just watching. She went off to find the cache only to be followed by him! What a scary moment. He didn't speak, or explain why he had followed her down a dark lane. Jess hot-footed it away as fast as her torch would allow and hoped he wasn't on her heels. Luckily not. Let's blame Jess' frights on it being Halloween season! TFTC [:D]

Thorns, thorns and more thorns but they're not going to stop me finding a cache when I want to! Must remember not to look for caches in the dark and wearing tights. Nice sized cache, easy hide. Coords were accurate, too. I like these kind of caches - easy, accessible and very unlikely to overlooked by muggles. TFTC! [:D] Jess
