A Kingly view

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

The weather was overcast with some sprinkles so that limited visibility. The view was still worthwhile, though. Thanks!

Taming the Beasts

By: EvilDarkRingmasters (adopted by Michael_SFBA) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The excellent hint put me very close to the cache. It can sometimes be quite challenging finding something under the trees and in the woods. Found it after a short search. Thanks!

Doc: Big Basin to Waddell Beach

By: C2C cachers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I also found a better way out than in. I also saw lots of matches to the hint, but the coordinates were good and the sky unobstructed, so that helped the search. I suggest leaving the trail at N 37 09.588 W 122 15.020. Thanks!

Middle or Hihn?

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

The coordinates and excellent hint left one possible area to search. I still made it hard, though and spent a while looking around. Thanks!

Sawn in Half

By: EvilDarkRingmasters (adopted by Michael_SFBA) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I met a family of hikers near here and pointed out on their map where we were. After they headed down the trail, I made the find. Thanks!

Mt. McAbee Overlook

By: dr.dolittle & faith Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

There was just enough sprinkles to wet the foliage near this cache. I picked up a little dampness searching around, but not too bad. Thanks!

Sleepy: Big Basin to Waddell Beach

By: C2C cachers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

This was my turn around point to head back to HQ. I had set a time of 2 pm, and it was just past that now. It was also sprinkling a little heavier now, and I was worried that it might pick up more before I got back. I counted paces a couple of times (is it one step or two?) -- no matter, neither worked out exactly. I finally found the cache in the last place I looked. Thanks!

A cache for Howard

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

The leaves were thick on this nice trail, so I don't think it gets much use. I was alone out here today, and it was eerily quiet. Thanks!

Hihn end of Sky King

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I decided to come on down here since I had a little time left and there were three caches within my range. This was a quick one. Thanks!

Tiny Trees

By: oldbadger Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I headed out for a little hike this morning, and one of my objectives was this cache. I have found other oldbadger hides, so I know his work is first rate. This one did not disappoint. Thanks!

Tribute to Montalvo Water Company

By: vaddynwashere Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I decided to go for a little hike this morning. No problem finding the spot, and the cache was located about the first place I looked. I didn't see it the first time and ended up looking at other places and reading a few previous logs, then I looked again and found it. Thanks!

Topham's "New" Last Stand plus Brady

By: joebob6 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I decided to go for a little bike ride today before the rain hit. No problem with this one. Thanks!

Collin's Treasures

By: joebob6 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I first looked for a more difficult hide because of the terrain rating and the coordinates being slightly off for me. I looked around a little and came across it soon enough. Thanks!

Burn Notice

By: lumens Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

The first stage was the most challenging for me, but I hung around and eventually came up with it. Good work! I was on my bike, so I knocked off the remaining stages while I got a little exercise. Thanks!

You Can Bank On This One

By: rpruitt1948 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

The bank was open and busy today, but I was fairly quick. Thanks!

VTA Fruitdale Station

By: cachbefound Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I came off the LG Creek Trail to bike over to this one. Thanks!

I'm Green with Envy

By: rpruitt1948 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The cache was just visible enough that I was able to spot it quickly. Thanks!

The Rusty Bridge

By: rpruitt1948 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I biked on past here, but stopped, had a look at my GPSr and pedaled on back. This one might have been a lot more difficult. Thanks!

You Can Bank on this One 3

By: rpruitt1948 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Other

It didn't take too long to spot this one. What took the time was signing. Thanks!

VTA Downtown Campbell Station

By: cachbefound Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was near my starting point for a bike ride this morning. No problem spotting the cache. Thanks!

Watch out for the cars

By: rpruitt1948 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This made for a quick stop along the trail. Once I read what size the cache was, I spotted it quickly. Thanks!

Resting at St. Elizabeth Park

By: rpruitt1948 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I rode my bike from the LG Creek Trail since this was a short distance away. The playground was in use, but this was far enough away to not draw attention. Thanks!

Trader Geo's

By: Cookiemongoloid Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I rode my bike over here after a ride on the LG Creek Trail. No problem finding the cache. Thanks!

Just Did It Again!

By: chevellefan Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I had just found a couple of these, so I was in a groove. After looking around a little bit and letting a couple people pass I had a new idea of where to look. Thanks!

Jack and Jill

By: BrokenZen and Tumbling Cow Pie Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small

I considered the advice given in the hint, then went ahead and tried it with no luck. The coordinates consistently pointed me to the wrong side of the road, so they were of no help.

Baldwin Lookout

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I had some trouble with this one, but finally spotted it. The corners of the lid are going and the cache had a bit of water in it, but the log is still signable.

Beware of Rattlesnakes

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

I brought my bike up here, but it was a lot of pushing on bumpy little trails. No problem spotting the cache.

Wilder Trail Mix

By: Euell Gibbons Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I whipped out my flashlight and looked in the wrong spot, but soon found the right one. Thanks!

Pros ·per·i·ty

By: DarkZen and Beautiful Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Great views out here this morning. I hiked past three guys working in the field, but it didn't seem to be a problem hiking here. Thanks!

Hey Diddle Diddle

By: DarkDish and EvilSpoon Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

The GPSr seemed a little uncertain here, but I looked around and finally spotted the hiding place. Thanks!

Where the Land Ends

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

There must be two replacement caches, but I could only find one. The signatures on the replacement log were from October, but didn't include the latest finders. I used the hint and found a small cache there.

El Gallo del Cielo

By: Carlos "ZenPie" Saragosa Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I put my GPSr in its holster, put both hands on the handlebar to operate the brakes and proceeded slowly down the hill. My spill was low speed, but I managed to scrape my forearm a bit. After I stopped and found the cache, I was pretty well recovered. Thanks!

Baldwin Girl Hikes Baldwin Loop

By: Trail Reader Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I ditched my bike and hiked over to this one. The weather was bright and sunny today with no marine layer to obscure the view. Thanks!

On The Escarpment

By: DragonsWest Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This one is a bit off trail, but the finder is rewarded with a box full of goodies and a great view. Thanks!

Shelob's Stair

By: Sgt Stitches Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I had a DNF on this some time ago. Today, I investigated more carefully and came up with the cache. The air was a little cool this morning, but you could see forever. Thanks!

Mr. Baldwin--Enchanted By Bark

By: Trail Reader Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

The excellent hint made this one a quick stop compared to the last cache I found. Thanks!

enchanted ?

By: hotshoe Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I had just stopped my bike when I spotted this one. No time wasted on the hunt. Thanks!

Whither Will You?

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I at a snack bar while I waited for two groups to pass, then quickly made the find. The cache was floating in a pool of water, but evidently it is not a problem.

Nov 19, 2010

Our Pilot

By: SugarBoogers Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had a look at this in the Google satellite view before heading out, and parked right in front of it. I found it before resorting to my GPSr. I then headed out for a hike at Windy Hill. Thanks!

Teensy Valley View

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I spent a little while looking for this. The hide is in full view of hikers coming down the trail, so most of the time was spent trying not to look demented or depraved. I spotted the cache after about the third look at the hiding spot. I am not much for the hide and seek portion of the game, so a hint is always welcome. Thanks!

Valley View: Bites & Stings

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

No bites or stings today. I think this is a great time of year to be out here. Thanks!

Evergreen Valley View

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I skipped this on the way up because of hikers on the trail. On the way back, I had plenty of time by myself. I was surprised by the size of the cache, but maybe I should have read the description better. Thanks!

Behind the Black Hole

By: Laderagirls Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I headed up Windy Hill by a different route, and came by here on the way back. The cache is full of goodies for kids looking for a treasure in the woods. Thanks!

Even Better Valley View

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

The view was better today at the lower elevations. Up here it was foggy with poor visibility and some moisture in the air and on everything. No problem with the cache. Thanks!

Sweet Springs Trail

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I am surprised how long this has gone without an online log. I remember a couple signatures after PDFrogs, but they were also in April. Was it 2009? I don't remember checking the year. The cache was in good shape. Thanks!

Bobcat

By: SIR GEEK Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I'm sure the hikers and bikers wondered what I was up to. No problem finding & signing. Thanks!

The Legend of El Wombatadero

By: Dr. Agon Swest, History Perfesser Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I let the approaching hikers pass as I slowed down a bit. No problem finding this one once I had a little privacy. Thanks!

Tree Fort Trouble

By: SIR GEEK Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was expecting this to me a little more trouble than it really was. I picked it up on my way out to Windy Hill. Thanks!

Nov 14, 2010

Open Field

By: SIR GEEK Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

I came out to maintain my own caches, then hiked over to this one. Thanks!

Swamp Monster

By: Jonathan Z Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The coordinates were about 30 feet off for me, but the hint did the trick. Thanks!

Mr. Troll

By: Skip Fore Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I have been back here once before a couple years ago, and I remember a lot of searching. Today the hint worked out for me and I came up with the cache. Thanks!

Bushed?

By: Batch218 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had never been all the way out on this point before. I tend to limit my travels to the spots were there are caches. Thanks!

Big Daddy

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I saw a few of Big Daddy's races on TV years ago in Michigan. I didn't know about his HMB races until reading the cache description. Thanks for the history!

Quarrymen No. 1

By: granadan Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I got this one on the way down, and had no problem finding it. Thanks!

Sunset Bonus

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I would recommend the sunrise rather than sunset. There were plenty of folks going by, but the bench was very wet from dew. This trail has been upgraded in a major way since I was last here a couple years ago. Finding the cache was the easy part. I had more trouble than usual signing and replacing, but I did finally accomplish the task. Thanks!

BedRock!

By: SPnZnH Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was my first trip to Quarry Park. I had no trail map, and I'm not sure one exists. I got to within 440 feet of GZ, then was losing hope as I reached 0.2 miles away. Finally the trail turned and I reached the cache area. The view was great this morning since the fog had just lifted. This was a great spot for a cache. Thanks!

Old Granada

By: donnie985 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I had read the first plaque on a previous cache hunt. The other two were new to me. When I reached the final location, I figured I might have messed up, so I sat down to review my notes. After reading the hint, I thought I might be in the right spot, and eventually found the cache near my feet. Thanks!

Nov 5, 2010

Carter Park

By: Mitten1 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I found a cache a couple years ago that was overlooking the park, so I knew it was here. I came by on a bike ride today. Thanks!

The Pilarcitos Creek Multistage Cache

By: donnie985 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I biked over from the Francis Beach campground. I had been on this trail before, but hadn't spent so much time on the signage. Thanks!

Jane's First HMB Hide

By: sealjane Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I was riding my bike around HMB today and made a stop to find this one. Thanks!

Sea More Beach Access

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I made this one the last of the afternoon. I was out riding my bike and put in a couple more miles to grab this one. The hint did the trick for me and I quickly spotted the cache. Thanks!

Half Moon Bay Library

By: donnie985 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I found this on Friday and read about the free wi-fi. Saturday I came back to use the wi-fi and log several more caches. Thanks!

Purged 6

By: SacCommish Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I was out on an early morning walk from the Cal Expo RV Park. Found this one with no problem. Thanks!

EVILBIRDIE

By: EVILBIRDIECACHE Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

The spot was secluded, but I met someone on the path nearby that looked like he had just gotten up and had his belongings in a plastic bag. Finding the cache was no problem, but removing the log was if you didn't have the right tool. I noticed that some of the loggers online must have had the same problem since I didn't see their names on the log. Thanks!

Purged 3

By: SacCommish Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I came out for an early morning walk from the Cal Expo RV Park. This was my first find here, along what must be a bike super highway. Good hide in what seems to be a busy area. Thanks!

Walk the Plank

By: jdevor Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I was out doing maintenance on one of my own caches, and decided to ride the new section of the Bay Trail and find this cache. The hint for the final is excellent advice in most situations. Thanks!

A Bugs Life

By: Atomsoup Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I biked on by this one since there was a family of hikers approaching. I rode the new section of the Bay Trail and came back by here. Thanks!

Seeya at Seely, Transformed

By: sailorscodgers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I have been traveling frequently from the Bay Area to Sacramento for work. I haven't geocached much, but I spotted this one last trip on a long walk from my hotel, but had nothing to write with. Today I just stopped by on the way to my hotel and quickly signed.

Pokey

By: Nopey and Goo (adopted by Michael_SFBA) Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I spotted my first hiker of the morning near here, but he headed on up the trail, while I sat and signed the log. Thanks!

(not a) Bay Laurel on Middle Ridge

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

To me, the leaves were shaped more like bay laurel than oak, but pay no attention to me. I hid a cache in the crotch of a madrone, and called it a manzanita. Thanks!

Maddock Homestead

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was just putting the cache away when I heard a German family come from the opposite direction. I read about the Maddock family and they took a break at the clearing. Thanks!

1st State Park

By: Kealia & Hula Bum Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I had never seen this historical marker before, and was a bit surprised it was here. The trail was busy today, but I was able to grab the cache between hikers. Thanks!

SttS trail rest stop

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

The coordinates were not right on for me, but your mileage may vary under the forest canopy. I found it reasonably quickly with the excellent hint. Thanks!

Ocean View Summit

By: Kealia Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I was initially reluctant, but I waded into the brush, and it was fairly easy going to the cache. The excellent coordinates and hint put me right on it. Thanks!

East Ridge to the Sea

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I made this my first stop this morning. It was a neat area, and perfect hiking weather. I used the detailed hint to find the cache, and I probably wouldn't have found it otherwise. Thanks!

Sequoia swim hole

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

The water was a bit stagnant and brownish looking, so it didn't look very appealing for swimming. I took care to not go swimming by accident, and was just able to reach the cache with my long arms. Thanks!

Going Gazos - Big Basin Edition

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

That's some nice, defect free redwood. Too bad it will sit here until it rots. I was able to stumble on this one without using the hint. Thanks!

Mike Ferguson to the Rescue! Big Basin Edition

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I have found a couple other Mike Ferguson caches, I'll have to look up how many there are.

Panoramic Water Tank

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

My legs were shot after a long hike in Big Basin, but I stopped here and trudged out to the cache. It was an interesting little spot. Thanks!

Gazos Creek Road trailhead

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I parked relatively close to here to start my hike. The parking situation was much more crowded when I left early this afternoon. Thanks!

umbra revolvo apex

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

My GPSr seemed to be a bit unsure of the exact location here. I examined several trees, and found the cache quickly after I spotted the right one. Thanks!

Middle Twin Oaks

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I backtracked a bit to get this one, unfortunately, the way back was uphill. Thanks!

Summit Sentinel

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I didn't read the hint until I had left the trail, but I was right by the cache and spotted it quickly. Thanks!

Hollow Tree Hangout

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I was looking for a hanging type of hide until I took the time to read the description and found the cache fairly quickly. Thanks!

What caused this big clearing?

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was my turnaround point, having started at China Grade. I wanted to go a ways down a couple other trails before returning. Thanks!

Johansen Shingle Mill

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Neat little area. I met my first hiking group of the morning after I found the cache. Thanks!

Rooster Rock

By: CockADoodleZen and Evil Hen (adopted by Micha Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

My initial thought was breaching whale, but to each his own. No problem finding the cache. Thanks!

Hollow Middle

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I found this on the ground and put it back where it was before, but new plan or a different system could be tried, as a fortune cookie once told me. Thanks!

Black Knight of Middle Ridge

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I was careful with the black stuff, and don't think I got any on me, not much anyway. I came from China Grade, and turned around here to head back up. Thanks!

Johansen Road Trailhead

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I quickly planned an outing this morning. I hadn't been this far up China Grade before and there seemed to be plenty of geocaches around. Thanks!

Not So Hollow

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

It was fairly quiet here, but I did run into a couple groups heading down to headquarters. The trail looked like it was regularly used. The wooden bridge looked like it hadn't been touched in 60 years, so I walked fairly gingerly across it. Thanks!

Gigantic Siamese Twins

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Its hard to fathom how big these trees really are just be looking up from their base. Thanks!

Skyline Ridge View

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

The water tank that is visible from this cache and the underground electrical cable (N 37 18.308 W 122 10.577) must represent an expensive and abandoned attempt at building a residence back here. The view from the cache site was good today, and there was enough overcast to keep things cool. Thanks!

End of The Trail Lambert Creek (almost)

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The cache site is now the home of a mouse family. I don't know my mouse species, but this was definitely not your typical field mouse. Their coats were gray and they hopped fairly high as the scampered about the area. Thanks!

Another Downhill Dead-End Middle of Nowhere

I thought the cache was worthy of a more exciting title. The creek was a cool area, and no one else was around today. Thanks!

Smokey Joe

By: GeoMinersCA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Our current cat, a pastel gray Persian, is not good for a lot, except leaving her long hair all over the house. But I suppose that on the feline scale of affection with humans (much lower than the canine scale), she ranks right up there. Thanks!

One For The Road

By: British Invasion Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small

This ended up being my turn-around point. The nearest unfound cache was 1.5 miles away, and I was feeling like it was time to head home. I found the cache quickly, took a little rest in the shade, and headed back to Hicks Rd. Thanks!

By: sammydee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

It was quite warm on the trail this morning. The fog and low clouds were all below this level. Found the cache with no problem. Thanks!

A Little Side Trip For You

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small

I looked at satellite photos and saved a couple waypoints ahead of time so I wouldn't have any trouble this morning. I also saw the cache location from various points along Woods Road as I approached. I ditched my bike near the side trail from Woods, and that proved to be a wise choice. I am not a strong mountain biker, and tend to get off and push up hills. Finding the cache was no problem, but hiking back to my bike took some out of my legs. Thanks!

Concrete Cube

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

My GPSr beeped that the cache was 30 feet away, then I saw a geo-trail, then the cache, without having looked at the GPSr. Thanks!

I headed out for other caches, but this one was only .44 miles away (as the crow flies!). I trudged on up, with a few rest stops in the shady areas. Thanks!

Coyote Creek Pigeonhole

By: kablooey Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

After our company picnic at History Park, dclendenin and I wandered over to "What I wouldn't do for a Geocoin", then headed for this one. I knew from the map which side of the creek this was on, and neither of us wanted wet feet today. We got across the creek on Story, then respected the construction fencing where the new Happy Hollow parking lot and pedestrian bridge over Coyote Creek was being built. We headed down the street, around the corner, and down a long fence line and checked that every gate was locked. The fence finally ended and there was a well worn path along the creek, past three encampments, some of them fairly elaborate. The path ran out well before our destination, and we were fortunate that the field wasn't too bad this time of year. Finding the cache was fairly was fairly quick and anti-climatic after our long hike, and after our view of life along the creek. Thanks!

By: frivlas Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

We had a company picnic today in History Park, so I checked out the nearby geocaches. This was the closest, so after ice cream, dclendenin and I wandered over. He found it earlier in the day, but humored me while I repeated his earlier efforts. Thanks!

Tiny Butterflies

By: oldbadger Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

There were three caches for me look for in this park, so I decided to take a little walk this morning and look for them. This one was nice because a geocacher would quickly notice something out of the ordinary, and anyone else would pass it by. Thanks!

Ground Control

By: squashyo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

This was cute, and I got it after a couple tries. The container top is indeed overly tight, and I ended up going in from the bottom. I put everything back the way it was, and made sure it still worked OK. Thanks!

Put 2 and 2 Together

By: Squashyo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I parked nearby, and found the apparatus, but was initially unable to figure out what to do. I thought something must be missing. I headed into Vasona, did some caching, and got a bright idea while working on another cache. On my way back, I stopped by again, and this time it was a piece of cake. Thanks!

A November Cache

By: not2b Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

The cache is still there in its hidey hole. I managed to get it with doing too much damage to the side of the trail, and I got it between trail runners, bikers, and hikers, so I wouldn't have to explain why I was down here. Thanks!

Alcatraz

By: DarkZen Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

We passed this by the first time. The GPSr was reading more than 100' off, and we skimmed over the description. I read Ridge Trail, and figured it must be up on the ridge. After a long circular route on rock climbing trails, we came back to the cache, the GPSr was reading right on, and with the description and hint, the cache was a no-brainer. Thanks!

Golden Gate

By: Queen-of-the-Castle Cow Pie Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The first time, the GPSr was reading way off, and we examined three Golden Gates, none of which was the right one. We came back by here a second time, and the GPSr was in much better shape and the cache was a piece of cake. Thanks!

Castle Rock Falls

By: iwikepie + Super Pig (Team Pig Pie) Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The PN-40 was last powered up out of the area, and it wasn't able to get lock until we reached the platform overlooking the falls. After that it was fairly easy to find the cache. We first zeroed out at the wrong rock, but that didn't stop us for long. Thanks!

Old Gnarly Oak

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I turned this into a long hike from highway 236. The section along the creek was particularly nice today. The cache was very exposed to trail hikers, and I made it a little less obvious. Thanks!

Secret Waterman Gap Trailhead

Piney Pit-Stop

By: KGBhunters Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Wirebndr and I didn't have a map of the park, but had a photo of the map that was on the gate at the start of the hike. We studied that when I appeared that we would miss this cache. We ended up retracing our steps on the main trail a little way and taking a side trail. No problem spotting or retrieving the cache. Thanks!

Blair Witch Project - North

By: el Jim Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I wouldn't say that this is right along the trail now. The cache must have been repositioned after the tree came down. The cache is easy enough to find if you're in the right spot, but the coordinates aren't right on. Thanks!

Spooner's West - "Spoons and PEZ Galore"

By: Just a short Walk & Along for the Ride Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We tried one trail, then tried another and came back to the first one. The bushes have grown enough to touch in the middle of the trail, but you can still push through if you pick the right path. I found someone's smartphone in the middle of the path, quite near the cache. I would be happy to turn it over to the owner, but it isn't much good right now, waterlogged, rusty, and with run down battery. I wasn't able to power it up, but will try to dry it out and charge it.

Native Plant Wetland 2.0 (aka Yesler Swamp)

By: fishiam tenderly cared for by FN for a few ye Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I would emphasize the wetlands part of the title. There wasn't any real path to the cache, much less wood chips. The cache was exactly as described, though. The log was damp and previous finders had written in a lot of the margins since it was full, but there were still a few blank spots, so I wrote there. Thanks!

Walking The Dogs III: Log This!

I Can Almost See I Can See The Dawghouse From Here

By: Sugar Glider Sweatshop Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I parked on the street across from the cache. I got out and read the sign that I wasn't supposed to park from there, east. I figured that I would only be a minute, so I walked over to the park. I met a woman who commented on the view, then as I closed in on the cache, two guys walked up and took a couple pictures. After they left, I quickly found the cache and started extracting the log. Just then I saw an electric bus try to make the corner where my car was parked. The bus finally made it after backing up and trying again, but I learned what the parking sign was for. I never imagined that street to be on any bus route. Thanks!

By: guan34 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The old GPSr I had with me was having some trouble being accurate today. I didn't recognize that it was a fountain or had a fishy theme from a distance, but I finally zeroed in and collected the clues. I spotted the likely hide from the fountain, and the cache was the first place I looked. Thanks!

Waterfall Park Cache

By: nolenator Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was here a little before the park was due to open at 8 am. I quickly searched the most obvious places, then walked down the sidewalk as someone came up. After reading the UPS plaque in the sidewalk, he plopped his bag next to the cache site, and was waiting for something. I decided to come back later. I had Mrs. Bytemobile with me this afternoon, and she found it the first place she looked. Thanks!

Electric Avenue

By: Iwikepie, Darkzen and Evil Cow Pie Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

No problem following the right trail since there are so few of them here. I would just say take the trail that keeps going down. Today, the trail was more like a stream here and there. Lots of paths around trees that have fallen across the trail says that nobody with a chainsaw has been down here in years. No problems finding the cache. Thanks!

I skipped this one as I hurried to the turn-around point just ahead. I signed quickly and hopped back on my bike to get to the Team Checkers 10K event. Thanks!

I'm glad I read the full description while I was standing there, observing. I had a bit of a tussle pulling out the log, but no real problem. Thanks!

Hmm. Is small the diameter or the length? Well, no matter. Just as I was about to fish for a tool in my pack, I spotted the hide. No tools required. Thanks!

The coordinates worked well for me. After riding on by, then coming back, I ended up parking my bike within reach of the cache. Thanks!

The coordinates and the hint were good for me. This type of hide can otherwise be a time sink. Thanks!

I didn't come up with one of the little pictures, but it was a least significant digit. I decided to make this my first stop this afternoon since the spot looked promising from Google Maps. Thanks!

Levee Bicycling - Train

I let some dog walkers/hikers pass then headed down for this one. It was fairly exposed and may not last, but there are lots along here anyway. Thanks!

I parked at the staging area and headed out for a bike ride this afternoon. This was my first cache of the day.
