Achistaca Trailhead

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was playing hooky from work this morning, but I already had 50 hours this week since I worked last weekend. It was nice and quiet this morning, and not bad weather for a hike. Thanks!

Hwy 9 Pull-out

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I was out doing some hikes along Skyline this morning, and decided to come down for this cache. After this one, I headed back up for a hike down Charcoal Road. Thanks!

Up to my car (hide your valuables!)

By: AlphaRomero.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

This was my last cache as I headed up Table Mountain Trail to my car. After reading the cache description, I started worrying about my car as I hiked along. No problem, though. Car was intact when I got back at about 1 pm. Thanks!

Somewhere in Sanborn

By: catomcat Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

This was my first stop this morning, and it was a bit cool. Things were also a bit damp and slippery, but I retrieved the cache without injury. Quiet mornings like this are great for hiking up here. Thanks!

Come and see Table Mountain!

By: AlphaRomero.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I hiked down Charcoal Road, and was starting back up Table Mountain Trail here. I had seen no one on the trail to this point, but it was a nice morning for hiking. Thanks!

Think "Terrain Challenge"

By: AlphaRomero.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I had no trouble hiking down the correct trail and finding the cache. It was about an hour from car to cache, with one caching stop. The trouble was in hiking back out. I think it took me an hour and a half or so. Thanks!

Lemming bait in Charcoal Road

By: AlphaRomero.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

This was my first stop as I hiked down Charcoal Road. My new Delorme PN-40 had me about 50 feet from the road, but I turned around when I read the hint, and had the cache soon after. The log was soaked, but writeable. The o-ring was still intact on the container, so the top must not have been tight at some point. Thanks!

!BART

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Nice view to the west this morning from the cache site. There was some nice stuff in the cache, but I haven't been in the trading or collecting mood lately. This was my turn-around point, and I headed back to the trailhead. Thanks!

Boney Trail Lunch Stop

By: agouracharger Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

My loop hike took me down the Sycamore Canyon Trail, up the Fossil Trail, and back on the Old Boney Trail past this cache. It took me a few minutes, but I finally spotted the cache. Thanks!

Fossil Trail Cache

By: TOHiker Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I came up the Fossil Trail from the Sycamore Canyon trail, and it was a pretty good slog up the hill. I got my own picture of the fossils that are right on the trail -- they are hard to miss. No trouble spotting the cache. Thanks!

Pype Bombe

By: Mr Smeee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Not chosen

I was at the gate to the Natl Rec Area / Pt Mugu State Park gate about an hour before it was due to open this morning, so I decided to use that hour to pick up this cache. I wandered a bit figuring out where to park, then headed up the trail. It too me a few minutes of poking around here and there, but I finally came up the the cache. Thanks!

Sunken Garden

By: Creakhead Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

We were headed down to Camarillo, and stopped to visit a couple yarn shops near downtown. I had about 20 or 30 minutes while Mrs. Bytemobile was in the shop, and this was my only find. Thanks!

Henry Miller Ruins

By: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This is a cool spot, and a little spooky when it is foggy like this morning. This was my first caching trip to the park, and I was able to hit some of the more interesting spots, such as this one. Thanks!

Madonna's Gadgets

By: Beckerbuns and the boys Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I just finished up a long hike in the park this morning, and couldn't resist stopping for one last cache on my way out. Thanks!

Hearst's Deer Descendants

By: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

I vaguely remember coming up here 20 years ago or so. They have improved the pen, for sure. I sat here and struggled with the log, but finally got it signed and back in the cache. Thanks!

Bullseye!

By: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Very neat archery course! I have never seen anything like it, and if it were a little closer to home, I think I would take up archery. No bowmen were on the course this morning, and the cache was a quick find with the hint. Thanks!

Iris Meadow

By: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

The cache had some very nice stuff in it, but I am a time constrained cacher these days, and I avoid anything that will take extra bookkeeping and logging. Thanks!

High Altitude BART Stop

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was my first caching expedition to Mt. Madonna on this foggy and cool day. I parked on top, and looped around to this area. My legs were starting to tire at this point, but I decided to head down a bit farther to pick up another three caches. I had a digitized version of the park map on my Delorme PN-40, and it was nice, but a big paper map in hand was quite useful too. Thanks!

Newtritious Water

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I didn't see any red newts in the water, but an hour or so later I saw one crawling along the trail, then saw another one. I followed the cacher trail straight to the cache for this one. Thanks!

Pit Stop

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I wandered around a bit, then finally read the full cache description and found the cache right off. I think it would have been a real problem to find by the coordinates alone. Thanks!

Get Amped in Mt. Madonna!

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

This was my first stop on my way into the park this morning. It was foggy and cool. I had no problems spotting the cache after I read the hint. Thanks!

Brdad, you can't do this one in your tux.

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This was my first caching expedition in Mt. Madonna, and I had a nice hike. The weather was a bit cool, damp, and foggy, but that was no problem. Thanks!

GHOST MINE

By: Ghostriders Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Nice pond and pier down the hill, on the other side of the fence. I wonder whose it is? No problems spotting the white lid of the cache. Thanks!

Indian Rock Cache

By: BLLKFISCH Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

My new Delorme PN-40 got me pretty close to the cache, and the cache title was all that I needed to find this one. Thanks!

Charlie Parkhurst

By: el Jim Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I came down the Ridge Trail and planned to turn a the Tie Camp Trail, but I could pass up a cache that was just a little bit further down the hill. Nice write-up & thanks for the cache!

Serpentine Grasslands

By: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I spotted chucklesda and ProTechcc just as they were about to head off trail to the cache. I met them once before on a trail, but it has been three years or so. No problems tracking down the cache. Thanks!

Blackhawk Down

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

My new Delorme PN-40 wasn't spot-on the cache here, but the hint took me straight to the right area. Thanks!

Lincoln Logs Tantrum

By: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I had a bit of trouble with this one, then read the whole description, and was able to quickly find the right area, then the cache. Thanks!

Redwood Multiples

By: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

After signing the log and replacing the cache, I stood nearby and studied the park map and my GPSr. I saw a couple guys headed my way. I didn't wait for them, but lmet up with them a bit later, and they were Protech & ChucklesDA.

Whatta View!

By: Travieso Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I circled around from the Virl N. trail, and caught this one on my way back to the Mockingbird Hill entrance. My new Delorme PN-40 was not spot-on the cache location, but the hint did the trick for me. SF and Mount Tam were both easily seen from up here today. I met Dotish for the first time on the way back down. Thanks!

Element #80

By: GeekDad Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I was out caching with my new Delorme PN-40, and it did a nice job on this cache. I have a Almaden Quicksilver park map loaded, and that worked out well, too. Thanks!

Virus Alpha 5 Reborn

By: Nemglan Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I came from the Mockingbird Hill entrance, and this was my turn-around point. The last half mile consisted of some very steep hills to slog up and down. I saw my signature on the log from the previous incarnation of the cache. Thanks!

A Rivulet Runs Through It

By: sammydee Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I needed to get out for a little hike before hosting the in-laws and a little Super Bowl get-together. I had not been on this trail before, and it has some nice views. I am envious of the folks who have homes backed up to this trail.
