Alameda Creek Stables - Shrubbery

By: Geo Fan Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I parked in the lot nearby and headed out on a levy bike ride. This was my first stop. Thanks!

Round the Corner

By: Borgster Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Hmm. Lots of rocks and shrubs. Good thing I had my GPSr along. Thanks!

Need a Rest?

By: Baron88 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Another biker was taking a break when I pulled up, but he soon departed and I had the cache in hand. Thanks!

Levee Bicycling Detour - Outlook

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

A parks guy was working here on my way out, so I skipped it. I stopped on my way back, read the description and hint, and got the cache on the first swipe. Thanks!

Road to the Sea

By: Baron88 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had already been out pretty far on the levies. I was willing to get this one as long as I didn't pick up any more mud, and that was the case. Thanks!

Bay Area Multiple Hills - 4

By: Mhop (maintained by WalruZ) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This one has been around a while and I have done a couple other BAMH's. I decided that I would bike on over and give it a try. I left the bike at the bottom and hoofed it on up. The route I chose wasn't bad and I soon made it up. Thanks!

Hans und Franz

By: Baron88 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

No problem finding this one. I signed and continued on my levy bike ride. Thanks!

Four Pillars

By: Baron88 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was the second stop of the morning on my levy bike ride. I saw the four pillars right away and had the cache soon after. Thanks!

Levee Bicycling Detour 2

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Another grab on my bicycle levy ride. Thanks!

Alameda Creek Multi - Dis Side

By: Alamogul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

The multi was pretty easy, but getting the log out to sign took a few tries. The next time I'm back here I'll get the companion multi. Thanks!

Resist the Urge to Jump In

By: IrishJen Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I resisted, let another biker pass and stopped for the cache. I like these were there aren't a lot of places to look. Thanks!

Levee Bicycling Detour 1

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I skipped the outlook because the was a parks guy working there. I spotted this one after peeking around a bit. Thanks!

Save Coyote Hills

By: Kyle and his Aunt and Uncle Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I skipped this, and made sure that it was where it thought it was. I left my bike on the way back and trudged on up to get it. The cache was fairly exposed, so no problems finding it. Thanks!

Alameda Salt Ponds

By: donvsop Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

This type of hide can be tricky, but not today. I made a relatively quick stop, and continued on my bike ride along the bay. Thanks!

Around the Corner

By: Baron88 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I knew the levy was a bit muddy, but thought I would give it a go. I pedaled as far as this cache, but the mud picked by my bike said it was time to turn around. When I got back to pavement, I spend a while de-mudding. Thanks!

Jungle Jim

By: Baron88 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Micro

I'm a pretty nimble 58-year-old. The retrieval probably took five minutes or so. Thanks!

Catamount, Panther, Cougar, Puma, Mountain Lion

By: AlphaRomero.com Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

Oh well, back up and take the easy way to the cache. I initially picked the wrong tree, but I eventually got the right one, and made the easy find. Thanks!

Level Spot

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

The weather was cloudy and cool and the trails were a little muddy in spots. The trails weren't going to get any drier this week, so I headed out this morning. Thanks!

Switchbacks

By: The Cachemanian Devils Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Not chosen

I headed out early this morning. After reading on the Open Space web site that the park would be open at 7 am this time of year, I headed out and got here about 7:25 am. I skipped the trailhead cache and made this my first. Thanks!

Shade

By: The Cachemanian Devils Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I didn't need any shade for this hike. The weather was cloudy and cool. No problems spotting the cache. Thanks!

Cutoff Trail

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This one just made it. It was off my route, but the GPSr read 0.10 miles to the cache, so I went for it. No problems spotting it. Thanks!

Canada Del Oro Trailhead

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I initially skipped this one because there was an Open Space guy in the area when I started. No problem finding it later. Thanks!

Ryan Creek

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

The coordinates worked well for me. The cache was the first thing I touched on the first reach. Thanks!

Winter Wildflowers

By: Geokashers and KrazyMonky Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

This type of hide can sometimes take me a while, but today, luck was on my side. Thanks!

Cache Break

By: The Cachemanina Devils Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I could have used a little break after all the uphill, but I quickly spotted the cache, signed, and trudged on. Thanks!

Serpentine Loop Trail

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

The posted coordinates didn't do it for me initially. I wandered around and couldn't find the cache for a while, then spotted the second set of coordinates in the description. I entered them into my PN-40 and they took me right to the cache. Thanks!

A View Worth Hiking For

By: Geokashers and KrazyMonky Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

The view today was a little hampered by the clouds, but it was still worthwhile. Thanks!

Cow Pie Hill

By: The Cachemanian Devils Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I headed to the wrong spot first of all, but finally checked out the hiding spot. Thanks!

Longwall Canyon Overview

By: Starpop Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I started looking for a hanging decon. I got to the point where the distance reading on my GPSr was in the single digits, read the description, and looked down and spotted the cache immediately. Thanks!

Am-Bam Cache

By: Valoha Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I was ready to be done with my hike when I found this cache. Fortunately, it was an easy find. Except that I couldn't find the log to sign. Then I read "Geocache Log". Hmm, must be intended for dummies like me. I signed the log, set the GPSr for the trailhead cache, and swigged my last water. It was almost noon.

Somewhere Along The Serpentine Loop

By: Geokashers and KrazyMonky Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I didn't need a hint for this one. I walked right up and spotted something that looked unnatural. Thanks!

Longwell Canyon Break

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I felt pretty good, so I started thinking about making a big loop. I signed the log and didn't take much of a break. Thanks!

Restore Your Perspective

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I spotted the likely location from about 500 feet. A close inspection yielded the cache fairly quickly. Thanks!

Nice Place For A Break

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

The cache wasn't where I initially expected it to be, given the owner's proclivities. It didn't take long to find it though. Thanks!

Gnarled Trees

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I worked out the easiest terrain to take to the cache, and hiked on up. I spotted the cache quicker than I usually do for this type of hide. Thanks!

A Decon For Dylan

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I headed out for a morning ride on Woods Road and made this my first stop. Thanks for the excuse to get out here.

Obelisk

By: sammydee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I heard voices as I quickly signed the log and re-hid the cache, but it turned out they were on a different trail. There was a bit of fog this morning, but otherwise was a nice day for a bike ride. Thanks!

The Root Of The Problem

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I didn't see the tree the first time I passed by. I was too busy steering and keeping my eyes on the road. I stopped 0.1 miles below, and had to come back up the hill. Thanks!

DarkZen's Halloween '09 Treet (or Trick!)

By: Count DarkZen Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I didn't read the cache descriptions ahead of time, and was surprised by this one. ProTechCC did the honors, but dropped the cache cap, so I picked it up and climbed while Mrs. ProTechCC shot a few pictures. Thanks!

What a world, what a world...

By: DarkZen Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

ProTechCC found the right stump, and quickly on this one. Thanks!

Don't Know Much About Geography ...

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I found the topo image on Terraserver, but the coordinates I came up with were a couple tenths of a mile off. ProTechCC had much better coordinates, but it took the hints to actually find the cache.

Land That I've Heard Of...

By: Multi-coloredZen Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

We started up the West Ridge Trail this morning, and this was the first of this series we encountered. The number of caches lead me to plan a hike here, and it turned out pretty much as planned. With a couple exceptions, we found the caches quickly and kept up a good pace. Thanks!

Flying Monkeys

By: DarkPrimate Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

We met a mountain biker at the trail junction not far from here. He was nice enough, but was not particularly apologetic about bringing a bike out here. The trail shows signs of lots of bikers riding this way. We found the cache quickly and decided to turn around and take the Ridge Connection trail over to Halloween Tree. Thanks!

Yellow Brick Road

By: DarkZen Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Protechcc spotted an unnatural occurrence and had the cache in hand almost immediately. Thanks!

There's No Place Like Home...

By: Heel Clickin' Cow Pie Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

ProTechCC spotted this one from the trail, so it was a quick and easy find. We had been hiking for quite a while, so it was good that it was all downhill from here. Thanks!

Hoffmans Historic Site

By: mayela mingi Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

The site had a couple fairly recent uprooting and falling over of trees, so the site will eventually be fairly bare. I was glad ProTechCC was along for this one, because my PN-40 had me heading to the wrong circle of trees. Thanks!

Lickin' With the Lollipop Guild

By: Her Sticky Pieness Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was a bit tricky, but two searchers are much faster than one. I found the hiding spot after walking past it a couple times. Thanks!

Gates of Emerald City

By: Jeweled Cow Pie Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This one took a bit of hunting because we passed the right redwood by and started looking at a lot of wrong ones. I eventually looked at my PN-40 and found cache quickly. Thanks!

Field of Dreams

By: DrowzyZen Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

We spent quite a while here. ProTechCC had the right area, but missed the cache in its little cubby hole, covered with sticks. I used the hints and finally came up with the cache. Thanks!

And Your Little Dog Too...

By: Evil Elmira Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

The hint was an excellent one, even though there are lots of logs in this area. We spotted the unnatural placement of a couple pieces of bark and soon had the cache. Thanks!

You're Not in Kansas Anymore...

By: The Wicked Cow Pie of the West Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

ProTechCC ventured farther from the trail than I and came up with this one. I had a Delorme PN-40 and he had a Garmin 60csx. This particular cache was advantage Garmin. Thanks!

mosi, zole, tatu

By: mayela mingi Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was the first cache of the morning on a hike with ProtechCC & his wife. It took a bit of looking, but we finally uncovered the hiding spot. Thanks for the puzzle and cache!

Leave Your Mark

By: ynots4 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Protechcc was first to spot this one on a beautiful December morning. Thanks!

Regarding the Cache

By: Squashyo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I passed this by and hiked back over the bridge. No problems finding. Thanks!

Start of something fun

By: squashyo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Good coordinates. After hiking to the spot, I noticed something out of place, and quickly spotted the cache. Thanks!

Gravity Overcomes Friction

By: ACEMIB Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I accidentally skipped this one on the way up to Seat of Stone, but I caught my mistake and grabbed it on the way back. Thanks!

Seat of Stone

By: Nemglan Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

I have noticed this one ever since it was hidden a few years ago. I haven't been able to plan a hike that included it until today. I decided that some new squashyo caches along the road and at the bottom of the trail was a good enough excuse for hiking up to this point. It was a nice afternoon for hiking, but the trail was a little steep. Tha nks!

Anyone need a taxi?

By: squashyo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This is certainly a unique cache. I have never run across anything quite like it. Thanks!

By: Squashyo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

LG Creek Delight

By: Sharples Family Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I dismounted my bike and quickly made the find. I left the cache a little less exposed than when I found it. Thanks!

Acquedotto

By: bullit Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

The last time I was here, there was little or no water and no cache. Both items were remedied today. My son quickly made the find on the unique cache. Thanks!

Bee Alert

By: Rosy3 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

It took a few minutes, but we found the cache. I was out for a bike ride with son and daughter-in-law (jogging). This was the last one and fairly close to where we parked. Thanks!

Slippery When Wet 2.0

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

My son and daughter-in-law were petting the friendly white cat while I made the find and signed. The camo make it look like this one has been out here quite a long time. Thanks!

Tiny Bugs

By: Oldbadger Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

My new daughter-in-law quickly made the find as I was checking the wrong side of the tree. Thanks!

Nov 23, 2009

Duck Pond

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

Well today I had much better luck. Greenbee17 and I rode out this morning to retrieve the nearby Venona clue, and we stopped by here for a second look. The pond was quite a bit lower than the last time I was here. The cache was a relatively quick find. Thanks!

Oat Hill Mine Road Trailhead

By: Team Dromomania Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I didn't know there was a trailhead here. It was a beautiful day for hiking, and the many vehicles at the trailhead suggested that it was being taken advantage of. Wirebndr had his foot in a cast, so he wasn't up for a long hike. Thanks!

Smile 1992

By: MartianRabbit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We gave up and headed for the nearby virtual, but I glimpsed something on the way back and quickly made the find. Thanks!

Calistoga Natural

By: MartianRabbit Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Thanks for the good hints. Without a hint a sculpture cache can be a real needle in a haystack. Wirebnder got under and made the find. Thanks!

Warren's Family Tree

By: The HotwheelsGang Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

We had a nice visit at the grist mill, and an informative lecture and demo by the docent. We stopped for a quick find on the way out. Thanks!

Back of the Train!!

By: geobobb16 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Finally, our first find of the morning, but we almost gave up. The hints were very good, but it turns out there were two of everything, and we were looking at the wrong one for most of the time.

Thumb Fun

By: PassingWind Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

We took a quick tour of the winery grounds and noted the necessary info at the point of interest. Thanks!

Rock Of Ages

By: A Team Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Duck Duck Google

By: wildbun Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Wickedly Retired

By: Runnerinwoods Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I parked on a nearby sidestreet and hiked on over. No problems finding the cache. Thanks!

Juan Rode Here

By: Gitonyerhorse Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was riding my bike around and didn't realize that the Hammond-Snyder Loop was no bikes. I found a nearby access point, though and got the cache after a short search. Thanks!

The New Bridge In Town

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I rode my bike over the bridge a couple times to count things, then I entered the coordinates wrong. I finally got things straightened out after riding a half mile out of my way. Thanks!

Northern Passage From Middlefield

By: Runnerinwoods Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I hiked to the nearby school before reading the cache description. I was 38 feet away, so I read the cache description and hiked back to Middlefield. I was right about where the cache resided but had a hard time finding it. Thanks!

I was killing a little time before my oldest son's wedding this afternoon. No problems on a Saturday morning. Thanks!

Cliff Hanger

By: mrdsw Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I was dressed pretty nicely, but I wanted to see what made this cache interesting. I hiked over from the suggested parking and had a look. It was fairly easy to grab, so I went for it. Thanks!

Seven Hundred M/O

By: kd6dun and Jack Daniels Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I didn't have far to walk for this one, but it it definitely not a park and grab. I was killing a little time this morning be for my son's wedding. Thanks!

Gate to Nowhere

By: Mr Smeee Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I dropped Mrs. Bytemobile off at my son's condo to help the girls get ready for the wedding. I killed an hour and a half geocaching. This was the first, just a few hundred feet from my son's front door. Thanks!

Flor-Abunda

By: campyc Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Mrs. Bytemobile and I toured the visitor center first, then wandered around for the cache. We headed down the sidewalk next to the road, but discovered we couldn't get there from here. I found an easy path to the cache for an easy find. Thanks!

Boney View Tool Cache

By: BKMV Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

There was just a ziploc bag with the cache contents pretty much intact. I wonder how this will survive the rains this winter. Thanks!

On the way to Lobitos Lookout

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I was indeed on my way to Lobitos Lookout, and somewhat unhappy about heading downhill. This was my first time out this way, and I didn't encounter a whole lot of traffic on the trail, other than a young possum. Thanks!

Purisima Creek, Spur Trail

By: justbob Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

This one is much easier than the nearby decon cache because of the limited possibilities. Thanks!

The Motherlode #3 - Monarchs of the Forest

By: geekster & tavahi Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Not chosen

This one took me longer than it should have if I had been paying attention. My PN-40 put me about 65 feet up the trail from the cache, and I checked out a couple other monarchs before coming back to the right one. Thanks!

Saluting General of Lobitos Creek

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

This is the second time I have been here finding a cache, but the tree is impressive as ever. The coordinates and a little geosense took me straight to the cache. Thanks!

I was in a hurry to head back, so I read the hint and made a quick find. This turned out to be my last cache of the day. Thanks!

Lobitos Lookout

By: wstefanc Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I think this is a terrain challenge that will grow to be more of a challenge over time. The thorny vines tried to grab my feet as I went by. I saw a young possum, passed the Pampas grass sentinels, and finally made it to the cache. Thanks!

The Lost Village of Grabtown

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

We were camped at Half Moon Bay this weekend with family. I headed up here to work off last night's pie and icecream. My PN-40 didn't take right to the cache, but after wandering around a while, I finally came across it. Thanks!

Lunch Break

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I didn't need the hint for this one, and the coordinates were right on for me. I decided to drop the Pot O' Gold coin here. If I had brought some lunch with me, this wouldn't have been a bad spot, except that it was a bit sunny and warm here. On the way back, about 1 pm, I was definitely thinking more about lunch. Thanks!

Hot Lead Ahead

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Wirebndr found this one while I was contemplating the possibilities. I was out here one before when the lead was flying, but all was quiet this morning. Thanks!

Tanks For The Cache

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

My PN-40 took me to exactly the right spot to find this one. I was worried that a metal container might be rusted shut, but this one opens easily. I took the Pot O' Gold traveler and left a travel from Poland, Blue Eyes. I don't have my note with me right now, so I will log the movements later.

Clumpy

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

The coordinates got us to exactly the right spot, and we spotted by looking down. I was somewhat exposed, but nothing that anyone would spot walking down the trail. Thanks!

Feeling Nuts

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Wirebndr cupped his hands while I piled on the nuts. When that approach didn't work, we looked elsewhere and found the cache. Thanks!

A Trail To The Past

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I looked for the cache while Wirebndr read the display. There was a bit of condensation this morning, so it was a bit hard to read, but he managed. I found the cache about the time he finished reading, we noted the info we needed and headed on down the trail. Thanks!

Mrs. Bytemobile set up on the beach this afternoon, and I wandered on down to look for this cache. I ended up circling back via the trail to get to this one. Thanks!

This Cache Has Been Blown!

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

We set up camp at Francis Beach and I hopped on my bike for a ride up the coast. This cache turned out to be relatively easy find, with good coordinates and a good hint. Thanks!

Nancy's Overlook

I was surprised at how much open area there was up here. The road is exposed, and was a bit warm this morning. No troubles spotting this one. Thanks!

Prankster's Perch

By: PDFrogs Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I came from Sam McDonald park, and decided to make this my turn-around point. The trail was headed down, and I didn't want to have to climb back up again. I did encounter a number of other hikers and horse riders today. Thanks!

Sam's Big Trees

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

This was my first visit to Sam McDonald, and I thought I got a pretty good tour of the park this morning. I managed to find this one without reading the hint. The coordinates were right on for me. Thanks!

In Sam's Right Pocket

By: Dragons West, Mini Cacher & AirSax Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I would say that most of the time this cache is accessible. Today, it was inches from being inaccessible, at least when I parked and headed out for a hike. I was able to get to it, however. Thanks!

Hiker's Hut Redux

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I headed up the hill to the hut about 10 am and met a number of hikers who had just packed up and were leaving the hut. The place was vacated when I got there. It looks like a neat place to stay on a cool winter weekend. Today, there were a bunch of pesky flies in the area. Thanks!

Sam's Legacy

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I think the hint is a necessity for this one. My PN-40 didn't get me very close, and the cache was completely covered with duff. I left a CKayaks Nomad coin, ant took a GeoKret from Poland. Thanks!

Narrow Bridge - 1928

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Another spur-of-the-moment cache on my way out of Uvas Canyon. Another good pull-out and I stayed behind the guard rail as there was a bit of traffic today. Thanks!

Uvas Canyon's Upper Falls

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I headed over here via the Contour Trail from Alec Canyon after replacing my "Logger's Picnic" cache. I read the description and hint a couple times on my PN-40, then it finally all came together. I didn't meet anyone on the trail this morning. Thanks!

SoThirsty

By: Wet Blanket Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

It was a shady hike up here, so I wasn't very thirsty yet. It is surprising how hard it is to spot this cache until you find it, then you can't help but see it when you look in that direction. Thanks!

Mike Ferguson to the Rescue! Uvas Canyon Edition

By: Trail Reader Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I have been up this nasty steep trail before for a different cache. Good thing I have a poor memory of the hike. I have been spending weekends working lately instead of hiking, so I might be a little out of shape. Anyway, I made it up, found the cache, and had my little lunch on top. Thanks!

Are You Observant? #1

By: Team 'zilla & Mbooski & G.Gadboir Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I first looked for this cache about four years ago. I doubt if I'm getting any smarter, but a few more things made sense this time. I made it though each step, missing lots of the clues. I passed the final, but walked back and had a look at a place that matched a clue and I spotted the cache. I became acquainted with an area of Sanborn I hadn't hiked before, and had a fun time of it. Thanks!

not on the map

By: aggiejen Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

My PN-40 froze when it was about 37 feet from ground zero. It did the honorable thing, though, and rebooted itself. Meanwhile, a couple was headed up the trail, so I just hiked on by and stopped on my way back. My search was quite a lengthy one due to the GPSr accuracy for this terrain and woods, and the hint. Hint for future finders: don't read the hint.

By: Eagle Shadow Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

A Bridge Too Far

By: Nazgul Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

By: mayela mingi Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Secret Trailhead #10 - Soquel Demo Forest

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

This was my first visit to this trailhead. Mrs. Bytemobile dropped me off and picked me up later at the Nisene Marks entry kiosk. The trailhead was busy this morning with bikes being loaded and unloaded. I wandered over by the cache, spotted it quickly, and made the grab. I was surprised to see that there was an even bigger parking area across the bridge, also busy this morning.

Santa Rosalia to Aptos Family downhill Stage 1

By: mayela mingi Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

My original plan was for hike, starting down from the Nisene Marks main entrance. Mrs. Bytemobile said she wanted to drop me off, visit her parents in Watsonville, and pick me up. With a drop off and pick up available, I opted for the volcano ride instead. I hadn't been in the Soquel Demo Forest before, so I decided to incorporate some of that as well. It ended up being about a three-hour detour through the Demo Forest before finding Stage 1 for this series. I found the cache back at chest-high level. Thanks!

Where is Sulphur Springs

By: mayela mingi Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

When I rode up, by GPSr was pointing on the wrong side of the road, and I visited the wrong cathedrals. Later, back on the road, the GPSr gave a better indication, and I found the cache in short order. Thanks!

Overlook

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

My GPSr said I was close to the cache as I parked in the shade. Then nine mountain bikers pulled up and parked around me to take a break and eat their snacks. I was impressed by their body armor and tales of scars and broken bones. After they left, my GPSr had settled down, and it turned out that the cache wasn't so close by after all.

A Minor or Major Inconvenience

By: justbob Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The road was certainly in good shape and open today. The cars with mountain bikes on the back were streaming by. Mrs. Bytemobile helped me look for this one, and it took us a while. The camo tape is very effective. Thanks!

There was quite a nice view up here today. San Francisco and Oakland were visible below the overcast. A bit farther down, at the corner of the Madrone and Trapper Trail fire roads, you could see up to Shoreline and Moffett as well. The cache was surrounded by poison oak, but no real trouble grabbing it if you are careful. Thanks!

TC-Discovery Peak

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Small

My goal was to find this cache and finish the 'Terrain Challenge' Challenge No. 2 before the weather got hot and the hills turned brown. I was on a roll, having done Bear Mountain a couple weekends ago, and Terrain Challenge 1 last weekend. I was a bit apprehensive about this one since it is about at the limit of my capabilities. I headed out early to Del Valle, and hit the trail at 7:20 am. I ended up spending a little over seven hours on the trail. The temperature was fine today, the hills were green, and the wildflowers were everywhere. No problems except that poison oak is beginning to encroach on the section of trail heading up the hill toward Schlieper Rock. Thanks for the challenge!

This was the one section of my hike today that was somewhat reasonable. Just over the next rise, a rancher had parked his truck and trailer and with his horse and dog was "kicking a few cows toward home." No problems spotting the cache. Thanks!

TC-Discovery Peak

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Small

My goal for today was Terrain Challenge 1 and the first stage of this cache. I signed the log, and wrote down the coordinates of the final. The weather was a bit iffy, with a few rain sprinkles on and off all morning, but it turned out to be a good day for hiking up here. I'm hoping there is one more cool weekend to finish this up.

The Staff

By: triplep220 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

It turned out to be a nice cool day for hiking up here. As long as you were back to your car by 3 pm, there wasn't much rain (I made it about 3:15 pm). This cache took me a while to find. I read the hint several times, and finally found the right area to apply it. I left a red jeep travel bug. Thanks!

Cerro Este Pit Stop

By: dandm Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

My last visit was 3 1/2 years ago. Time flies! Last time I logged a was-not-there. Today, it was a quick find, and my first stop on the way to Terrain Challenge 1. I managed to pedal my bike all the way here from the parking lot without getting off to push, and I was ready for a stop.

My turn-around point was going to be the first stage of TC - Discovery Peak, but I couldn't resist slogging on up the hill for this one. The weather was threatening, but it turned out to be a good day for hiking up here. Thanks!

Equinox Sky Camp

By: GeoROCKS! Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I decided to go for the trifecta and find this cache in addition to Terrain Challenge 1 and the first stage of TC - Discovery Peak. The camp sites around here are quite unique. I think this is the craziest one of them all. I can't imagine lugging water up here. I had a bit of trouble finding the cache, but finally happ ened onto it after an encounter with an ant colony. I reached up into the hollow of the nearby tree, and my hand came out covered with ants that were biting mad. I neglected to read the whole cache description on my PN-40, otherwise I would have posted a photo. I took the red jeep travel bug in the cache and left mjp303's turtle geocoin traveler.

Tin Can

By: IrishJen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was my last cache of the day as I headed back to my car after a long bike and hike. The rain was still light when I parked my bike on the trail, and headed over to find the cache. The coordinates were a little off for me, but I read the hint, and wandered until I found the right spot. The rain was starting to pick up, so I was happy to get back on my bike and zip down to the parking lot. Thanks!

Terrain Challenge 1

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small

I gambled a bit on the weather today, but it worked out fine. My other objective today was the first stage of TC - Discovery Peak. I decided to head to that cache first, and pick this up on the way back. My legs had quite a bit of mileage on them by the time I was making the final approach to this one. I had thoughts earlier of taking a lunch break here, but the wind was blowing and there were enough rain drops coming down to make e verything wet. I ended up spending very little time on top, and I was grateful for the good coordinates and straightforward hide. The rain mostly held off until I was back on my bike, and cruising down Camp Ohlone Road to the parking lot. Thanks for the adventure!

Alquist Trail Meets County Line Road

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

TC-Bear Mountain Peak

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Small

This was my main objective of the day. Actually, it has been my objective for the last couple months. After reading ProtechCC's experience last year, and the fact that I do not frequently mountain bike, I decided my 58-year-old legs needed some conditioning. I started riding a fast 4 to 5 miles every night after work. It helped quite a bit, and the cool weather today helped even more. I was third in line at the Bell Station gate this morning, and I made it up here about 10:45 am with no problems other than maybe an ill-advised shortcut by Turkey Pond. I picked up MJP's traveling turtle coin since I wasn't sure anyone else would come up this year.

I Can See Clearly Now The Fire Is Gone

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

It was a pretty nice day for pedaling up this road. A caching break here and there is nice too. After signing the log, I spotted a little blue snake by my feet. He had lots of action in him when I picked him up, but he turned out to be inanimate. I spotted a couple of real snakes later in the day, neither of them rattlers.

I wanted to get up here while the wild flowers were still blooming. I suspect that they were not quite at their peak this weekend, but there was lots of color here and there along the trail. The views of the valley were somewhat impaired by a fog layer this morning, but overall, it was a great day to be up here.

I decided to hike on over here from Quercus, make this the last cache of the morning, and loop back to the vista point. Pretty nice views up here this morning. Thanks!

Quercus

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

As I headed down the trail toward the cache, a coyote came around the corner, headed near the cache, then up the hill. He stopped, sat and scratched himself, so he wasn't too worried about me. By the looks of his bushy tail, he must be making a good living up here. At the cache site, I read about coast live oaks and canyon live oaks on my PN-40, and filed away a new tidbit of information. Thanks!

The Dollar Cache

I headed off the Los Alamitos Creek trail with my bike, wandered around a little, and saw the trail to this cache where it started along the road. I pushed my bike a little way up the hill and locked it to a tree. The trail to the cache was great, with nice views this morning. Thanks!

LeChuck's Moai Treasure

By: LeChuck Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

There were a couple of high schoolers hanging out just above the cache site this morning. They probably thought I was weird, poking around here and there. Jack's Juniper Hide

By: The Petoskey Stones Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I would tend to disagree with the idea that if you find the bush, you find the cache. The cache is not all that easy to spot. I checked on all sides and got my hands all sticky before I finally spotted it. Thanks!

There were some nice wildflowers a little ways up the trail from the cache. A photographer was just putting away his tripod as I came by. The cache took me a while to spot. I think it should be painted red or orange. Thanks!

This one is about a mile from home and I saw it when I fired up the computer at 6 am this morning, but I was headed to Morgan Hill to climb El Toro this morning, so I got back here just about noon. I looked at a satellite view before coming over, so I really didn't use the GPSr. Thanks!

Temptation aka Resist the Rocks

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

The coordinates were excellent, as were the other caches I found today. I zipped down the hill on my bike, then had to retrace my path to get the cache. I was expecting to pull out a nano, but my hand came out with a cache that is much easier to log. Thanks!

Hooked on Geocaching #2

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

Arrrgh! After I signed the log and was adjusting the placement of the cache, I focused on the new leaves that I had been brushing with the back of my hand. Definitely poison oak, although there are lots of other three-leafed vines nearby, which are not. I left the Technu in the car, but when I got back, I applied it liberally, then scrubbed with it again in the shower when I got home. I should have read the previous log!

Looks like this was a nice backyard for hanging out and watching the woods. The lid was tight on the cache, but there was still an accumulation of water inside. Fortunately, the baggie kept the log dry. I emptied the water and oriented the cache so that water would drain out instead of in. I paid my respects to Oscar, and headed back up to Barlow Rd. Thanks!

The cache had some very nice stuff in it, but I am a time constrained cacher these days, and I avoid anything that will take extra bookkeeping and logging. Thanks!

High Altitude BART Stop

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was my first caching expedition to Mt. Madonna on this foggy and cool day. I parked on top, and looped around to this area. My legs were starting to tire at this point, but I decided to head down a bit farther to pick up another three caches. I had a digitized version of the park map on my Delorme PN-40, and it was nice, but a big paper map in hand was quite useful too. Thanks!

Newtritious Water

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I didn't see any red newts in the water, but an hour or so later I saw one crawling along the trail, then saw another one. I followed the cacher trail straight to the cache for this one. Thanks!

Pit Stop

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I wandered around a bit, then finally read the full cache description and found the cache right off. I think it would have been a real problem to find by the coordinates alone. Thanks!

Get Amped in Mt. Madonna!

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

This was my first stop on my way into the park this morning. It was foggy and cool. I had no problems spotting the cache after I read the hint. Thanks!

Brdad, you can't do this one in your tux.

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This was my first caching expedition in Mt. Madonna, and I had a nice hike. The weather was a bit cool, damp, and foggy, but that was no problem. Thanks!

GHOST MINE

By: Ghostriders Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Nice pond and pier down the hill, on the other side of the fence. I wonder whose it is? No problems spotting the white lid of the cache. Thanks!

Indian Rock Cache

By: BLLKFISCH Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

My new Delorme PN-40 got me pretty close to the cache, and the cache title was all that I needed to find this one. Thanks!

Charlie Parkhurst

By: el Jim Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I came down the Ridge Trail and planned to turn a the Tie Camp Trail, but I could pass up a cache that was just a little bit further down the hill. Nice write-up & thanks for the cache!

Serpentine Grasslands

By: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I spotted chucklesda and ProTechcc just as they were about to head off trail to the cache. I met them once before on a trail, but it has been three years or so. No problems tracking down the cache. Thanks!

Blackhawk Down

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

My new Delorme PN-40 wasn't spot-on the cache here, but the hint took me straight to the right area. Thanks!

Lincoln Logs Tantrum

By: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I had a bit of trouble with this one, then read the whole description, and was able to quickly find the right area, then the cache. Thanks!

Redwood Multiples

By: Trail Reader (formerly known as LFoucht) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

After signing the log and replacing the cache, I stood nearby and studied the park map and my GPSr. I saw a couple guys headed my way. I didn't wait for them, but lmet up with them a bit later, and they were Protech & ChucklesDA.

Whatta View!

By: Travieso Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I circled around from the Virl N. trail, and caught this one on my way back to the Mockingbird Hill entrance. My new Delorme PN-40 was not spot-on the cache location, but the hint did the trick for me. SF and Mount Tam were both easily seen from up here today. I met Dotish for the first time on the way back down. Thanks!

Element #80

By: GeekDad Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I was out caching with my new Delorme PN-40, and it did a nice job on this cache. I have a Almaden Quicksilver park map loaded, and that worked out well, too. Thanks!

Virus Alpha 5 Reborn

By: Nemglan Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I came from the Mockingbird Hill entrance, and this was my turn-around point. The last half mile consisted of some very steep hills to slog up and down. I saw my signature on the log from the previous incarnation of the cache. Thanks!

A Rivulet Runs Through It

By: sammydee Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I needed to get out for a little hike before hosting the in-laws and a little Super Bowl get-together. I had not been on this trail before, and it has some nice views. I am envious of the folks who have homes backed up to this trail.

Muggle Junction

By: The North Star Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

People were still streaming by here when I came by just after 4 pm. No problems finding this since it was the second time around for me. Thanks!

Nano Maggie!

By: AlphaRomero.com Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

FTF at about 2 pm or so. I was surprised to see an empty log. I came out to see if my Virus Alpha Six cache needed a new log, and saw that there were some new caches to find. Thanks!

Wildcat Canyon

By: CKayaks (adopted by Leelelee) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I think reception in this canyon would have be problematical for my old 60cs. No sweat with the Delorme PN-40, and the hint worked out quite nicely too. Thanks!

Somewhere in Rancho San Antonio Park

By: catomcat Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I looked for this once before, many months ago. Today I had my new lucky Delorme PN-40, and I made quick work of this cache. Thanks!

Deer Meadow Odd Couple

By: ctoomey Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I headed to Rancho this afternoon just as a few raindrops started to fall. As I approached the area of this cache, the drops started to come faster and I thought I might have to cut short my hike, but the rain soon tapered off. I thought this was a nice puzzle because the secrets are slowly revealed as you approach, and the hints make for an easy find. Thanks!

The Oaks - Reborn

By: WERDAVE Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Hmm. This seemed familar somehow. I was in Rancho today trying out the park map I calibrated for my Delorme PN-40. No problems finding the trail to the cache. Thanks!

Approach from Above (just a little)

By: AlphaRomero.com (adopted by Leelelee) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I thought the coordinates were spot-on. I was using my new Delorme PN-40. I wandered around to the zero point, read the cache description, looked down near my feet, and located the cache. Again, I was surprised to see an empty log sheet. Thanks!

Different approaches

By: javawriter Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I looked for this cache once before, many months ago. Today I had my new Delorme PN-40, and it made the hunting much easier since it zeroed in on the cache site. With my old 60cs, I was wandering around, and picked the wrong man-made structure. Thanks!

Edgar Allan Poe: The Haunted Palace

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I would say this cache is very different from the rest of the series in terms of difficulty. It is well off trail, and not hidden by anything that draws your attention. I spent spent quite a bit of time wandering the hillside, and was happy to come up with a find. Thanks!

Cache Challenge 1

By: Passport11 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This was my first visit to Huddart park, and would say it is pretty high on my list of favorite places to hike. No problems spotting this one. Thanks!

PhotoBox

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I guessed right on the little side trail, and headed straight for the cache. I didn't have any photos to trade, but I looked at a few of the smiling faces. Thanks!

Edgar Allan Poe: The Masque of the Red Death

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

No problems guessing where this one might be. Thanks!

Edgar Allan Poe: Imp of the Perverse

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

This was my first visit to Huddart park, and really enjoyed the trails, at least when I started out in the late morning. The sunlight filtering down through the redwoods, and the terrain, dropping off from the trail were quite spectacular. I used the hint to spot this one quickly. Thanks!

Smokey Bear's 60th Birthday

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

The trail was quite busy today, so I was happy that this one didn't take much searching. Thanks!

Edgar Allan Poe: The Raven (Bonus Cache)

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was a nice bonus after finding the other caches in the series. It was my last cache of the day, and I trudged on back to the car from here. Thanks for a nice day in Huddart!

Cache Challenge 3

By: Passport11 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

When a cacher is beat after a lot of hiking, and is ready to turn back and head for the car, happiness is an excellent hint. Thanks!

Cache Challenge 2

By: Passport11 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I loaded up my Delorme PN-40 with a nice digitized map of Huddart from VirtualParks.org, and it was quite handy navigating the twisty trails today. I think I registered the map pretty well, but this cache was showing well off the trail, which it is not. No problems spotting this one. Thanks!

Edgar Allan Poe: The Telltale Heart

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This was the second cache of the series for me. It turns out that I could have picked a better order in which to find them. I forgot to note the letter and number for this one until I was about a quarter mile down the trail so I had to turn around. The letter and number were in a logical place, but I didn't notice the first time around. Thanks!

Deer Meadow

By: dr.dolittle & faith Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

No problem spotting this one after my GPSr led me to the right area. This is a nice spot that you would otherwise miss hiking by on the trail. Thanks!

'Wunderful' Manzanita

By: TimberToo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I overshot this one a ways with my new PN-40, but read the description & came back and spotted it fairly quickly. Thanks!

Top of Wunderlich

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The first thing I found was a cache of a couple large water jugs, hidden cacher style with a bunch of sticks to draw attention to the area. The cache was nearby, well hidden, without anything to draw attention to it. Thanks!

The Crossroads

By: TimberToo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I probably wouldn't have found this one without the hint. The cache is tucked away in a spot that is easy to overlook. The cache is in great shape. This was the furthest I came down the hill from Skyline, and headed back up the other trail. Thanks!

Douglas's Elbow

By: TimberToo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I overshot the elbow and looked around under some much less impressive elbows, then finally came back to the right spot. I left the geocoin in place. Thanks.

The Flame Station

By: Hellolost and Saz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

My second cache of the new year and second find with my new PN-40. No problems. Thanks!

Magellan Be There GPS Adventure 21

By: ltleelim and mjleelim Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I found a nice path to the cache, but my boots were starting to get damp from the wet grass. A good sized deer watched me approach the cache site, and surprisingly, he didn't give much ground. I took out my camera and took his picture, as well as four other deer that soon showed up. No problems spotting the cache. Thanks!

A Highly Repulsive cache

By: Changes in Latitudes Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Other

This was my first cache of the new year and the first cache found with my new PN-40. The hint for stage two had me looking in the wrong spots, but I found it after I took a moment and re-focused. Thanks!

Christmas Cache 2008

By: GPSanta Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Well, Santa, I was awfully good last year, so I went ahead and bought myself a new PN-40 GPSr. I had a little trouble with this cache, then I looks at the map on the PN-40, and I had circled the cache location with my track. I headed for the center, and spotted the cache. Getting out and hiking for the first time in a while was present enough for me. Thanks!

Off the hairpin

By: Banana Slug Racing Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I came out for a trial run with my new PN-40, and this was the fourth cache of the morning. Nice temperature for hiking today, although the trails were a little gooey here and there. Thanks!
