Bundle of Fun

By: maldouble07 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I'm on assignment to this area from California, and took a little sanity break to do a hike this chilly morning. No problems spotting the cache, even with a little snow around. Thanks!

Around the Us via Quaters

By: maldouble07 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I saw only one other person on the trail this morning, so no problems searching. The cache had a little snow on top, but I poked with a stick and it soon revealed itself. Thanks!

"I LIKE GAMES"

By: maldouble07 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I pulled out my PDA and read the cache description when I was on the trail, just above the group of holly trees, and followed the directions straight to the cache. By the way, the holly trees along the trail today we really pretty with a little snow on them. Thanks!

ding dong ditch

By: maldouble07 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

My GPSr first took me to a nearby spot that also matched the hint. I poked a stick in what looked like an animal burrow. I guess I am lucky that an angry badger didn't come charging out. After a little more wandering, I spotted the cache. Thanks!

Mr. Clean

By: maldouble07 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was my first find on this chilly, white morning. It was particularly chilly for someone who has lived in California for the last 30+ years. I was equipped with coat and gloves, though. I spotted this string of caches from Google Earth, and also noticed the nearby trail access, so I started my hike here. I think the terrain rating for the cache may a bit high, depending on where you start.

Flying Fish

By: oldbadger Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

The hint was quite helpful for me, but not until I started searching on the right side of the trail. I initially zeroed out on the trail, and I immediately picked the wrong side and spent most of my searching time there, while the GPSr continued to wander. Thanks!

'Cause I eats me spinitch

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I was on my way to TC-Butano today, and stopped here for the view and cache. Yes, I frequently eat spinach -- raw, in my salad. Thanks!

Rest Your Buns

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I took a counter-clockwise hike around the park today, and this was my first cache. I was grateful for the hint, since I was wandering around, following my GPSr arrow here and there.

TC-Butano

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

Yes, the hike is straightforward, but it pretty much kicked my butt today. I am happy to be home and taking it easy. The cache was hidden in quite a nice little spot. I left a CKayaks TFTC geocoin that I picked up last weekend from TC-Calero. Thanks!

Mike Ferguson to the Rescue! Butano Edition

By: Trail Reader Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Well, I'm glad Mike Ferguson has been found. He probably never realized that he was lost. I took a counter-clockwise hike around the park today, and this was getting toward the home stretch. Thanks!

The 200 Special

By: eagleneb22 (with help from my2002cali) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was out on an errand, and decided to find a couple caches along the way. No problems spotting this one from the right viewpoint. Thanks!

At the End of the Rainbow

By: eagleneb22 (with my2002cali and GeekOfAllTrad Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I made about three trips around before adjusting my viewpoint and spotting the cache. The cache was back in its well stuck mode, so it took a little work to get it out. Thanks!

All American

By: eagleneb22 (with my2002cali and GeekOfAllTrad Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I really stepped in it this time. I normally am not so lucky with this type of hide, but I spotted it in the second or third place I looked. I signed the log, jumped back into my vehicle, then it hit me. The smell. It must have been fresh, or I reactivated it by my stepping in it. I got rid of all of it that I could at the next stop, but it was hard to concentrate on anything else, so I was soon headed home for some serious cleaning.

Golden Eagle Hangout

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I got an early start this morning, and it was still quite overcast & cool at this point. I hadn't gotten out my PDA yet to read cache descriptions and hints, and I maintained that here. Thanks!

Shoot, No Cows!

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

This was the first cache of the day that I needed to pull out the PDA for a hint. The cache was concealed nicely by a well-placed board. Thanks!

Pena's Panoramic View

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I DNFed this in 2005. No problems spotting this one from a distance. The hiking was nice & cool this morning in Calero. Thanks!

TC-Calero

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

It has been a while since I did a TC cache, but I will try to get around to all of them eventually. I didn't prepare ahead of time. I just loaded Calero waypoints into my GPSr and headed out early this morning. As I hiked about 500 feet away from the cache, I was starting to wonder how I would get there, but it all worked out in the end. I took the CKayak's TFTC traveling geocoin and left Bytemobile turtle #440. Thanks!

Javelina Corral

By: Vaudesir Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

It was pleasant weather for hiking in Calero this morning - heavy overcast, then partly cloudy. My GPSr took me to the right spot, and the hide was easy enough to figure out without bringing out my PDA. Thanks!

Virus Bravo Six

By: Nemglan Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I headed over here from TC-Calero. The weather was nice for hiking Calero - cool and overcast. No problems spotting the hide. Thanks!

Darn No River Here

By: Mystery Ink Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This was my second stop this morning. This is the perfect time of year to hike Calero. The overcast was still heavy as I came by here. Thanks!

The Heart Of Calero

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I managed to find this one from the waypoint alone. I thought the placement was nice - no trees or bushed to contend with. Thanks!

Javelina Saddle - Lake View

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

This is a nice time of year for hiking Calero. The overcast kept me cool all morning. I dropped the Ol' Woody travel bug here. Thanks!

Huff & Puff

By: Karen1327 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I was the first vehicle in the parking area this morning, and huffed and puffed up here somewhat after 8 am. The weather was still heavy overcast, but there was a promise of sun later. Thanks!

picnic at the pond

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

The cache and note were well tucked away, so I ended up sticking my head in the hole with flashlight before I finally came up with it. Had a nice after-the-rain hike this morning. Thanks!

Room with a View

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I decided to do a couple little hikes close to home this morning. The creek crossings required some attentiveness since the rocks were wet and the water was flowing well. I think the wet trees contributed to the poor performance of my GPSr, but it got me to the general area, and I spotted the hide without too much trouble. I took the hot rod travel bug and left Bytemobile turtle #437.

Somewhat High Hidey Hole

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I wasn't really planing this hike this morning, but the road to YSI/Youth Hostel was closed with a ranger's truck and a fire truck in the way, so I headed on up Sanborn Road. My GPSr was more flakey than usual. I think the wet trees reduced the reception. It took quite a while to make up its mind, but it finally got me to the right area, and I spotted the cache without too much trouble. Thanks!

Don't eat dead fish

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I poked around a little in the piles of wet leaves, but couldn't come up with anywhere else to hunt.

Trolls of Tollgate

By: FenninRo and Dixydust Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Things were a bit damp this morning, and the creek was running well, but I didn't have too much trouble with this one. Nice spot!

Is This Really The Way?

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

The coordinates for this cache were right on for me. I walked straight up to it. This was my turn-around point, and I headed back to the car from here. Thanks!

Cattle Chute

By: catomcat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Not much trouble spotting this one, but there were a surprising number of folks wandering the trails late this afternoon. Thanks!

You Must Be This Tall...

By: jasmerb Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I came out for a late afternoon hike, and was surprised by how many people were still wandering around on the trails. I had a couple inches to spare for the grab. Thanks!

Miniature Golfing

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This was my first find on a late Sunday afternoon hike for a few caches. The parking areas were quite full, so there were a lot of people with the same idea today. I had a bit of trouble with this one. I wandered around while my GPSr did the same. Thanks!

Mr. Troll

By: Skip Fore Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I felt I gave this one a pretty good effort, but I didn't really come up with a place that I thought was well matched to the hint. The stick forks indicate that this is a popular area for kids to play, so I hope it is still there.

Trolling For Razorback Ridge Trail

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

After I found this cache and was heading for Lovin' Arms, I was quite turned around. I thought it should be back in the direction from which I came, and sometimes the GPSr agreed with me. The GPSr and I finally got on the same page, and I headed on up Eagle Trail. Thanks!

Lovin' Arms

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

It was about 4:30 pm, and the sun was disappearing in this valley, so I was glad to find this cache where I thought it should be as I walked up. Thanks!

No Valley View

By: catomcat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I followed CKayaks around on the top of Windy Hill last weekend. This weekend, I am still finding the caches he found in one day. Thanks!

Tickless

By: Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Dropping Hide and Seek Geocoin.

Tickless

By: Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

The switchbacks are not very far apart, and I started looking at the wrong one, but I soon headed down the trail to search in the right area. I started out with the wrong idea, but figured it out after a short search. I left the CKayaks coin I picked up a couple caches back.

Secret Trailhead #758

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Well, I'm pretty sure this cache is still the way you left it. I parked a different trailhead up the road, and just popped out here at my turn-around point. Thanks!

Lord of the Views

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

There was a little haze, but other than that, there were great views up here today. This was the start of a hike I took along Lost Trail today.

Yet Another Switchback

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

This area is a bit tricky because of GPS reception and the closely spaced switchbacks. I found the right area after wandering on down the trail a bit. I signed the log after CKayaks. Thanks!

Windy Hill Open Space Preserve ~ MROSD

By: MROSD (adopted from GoGoJo) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I examined two interesting possibilities for hiding spots that I noticed as I walked up. Those didn't pan out, so I read the hint, and immediately saw the fairly exposed cache. I left it covered a little better than I found it. Thanks!

Just Around the Cone-er

By: finderofthingz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I immediately spotting the hiding spot, but didn't feel or see the cache right off. I looked around a little bit, read the last log, then found the cache on the second try. Thanks!

15% Camo

By: big checker Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The cache at the trailhead was gone, but I decided to hike on down to grab this one. No problems spotting it in the second place I looked. Thanks!

50% Percent Camo

By: OneAngryPuppy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This was a nice afternoon for a hike along Lost Trail. The light must have been right because this was a fairly quick find, with no need for the hint. Thanks!

Ultimate Valley View

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I didn't spot the cache right off, so I started reading my PDA. When I was done, I looked down by my boots and spotted the hiding spot. CKayaks was here ahead of me and I took the traveling coin that he left.

Hamm Sandwich

By: Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

My GPSr didn't disambiguate the hint for me, so I started looking in the wrong place again. As I was replacing the cache, a group headed over to this area from the main trail, and there was another group passing by on the trail. This was a busy place today!

Hasenpfeffer on the Old Road

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I'm not sure about this being an old road. It definitely is used as a firebreak at the present time. I was able to spot the cache from just the waypoint. I took a sigitem out of the cache and left Bytemobile turtle #439.

Wooden Waterfall

By: lil checkers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I like the cache title. I figured out where the cache must be as I walked up, and was signing a few seconds later. Thanks!

Hey, Over Here!

By: Alpharomero.com Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I just noticed the cache density in this area, and planned a hike along Lost Trail. My GPSr initially led me up the trail, 60 -80 feet from the cache, but I used the hint to figure things out fairly quickly. Thanks!

Creek Trail Cache

By: scottio19 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I have cached up and down this trail on bicycle, but today I was close by in the car, and just made this one a (nearly) drive-up. No problems spotting the cache. Thanks!

Where the Old People Live

By: Zulas Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

By: wogerwabbit, jgtaylor123, morozgrafix Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Things were hopping on the campus this afternoon, but I wander about, collected the info, and got the right coordinates on the first try. Not much trouble turning up the cache with the nice hints. Thanks!

Juana Multicache?

By: ChipnDonna Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Quite a nice mural! I wished I had done this one just prior to the other multicache in this area. My PQ was a few days old, so I was looking for a decon container, and I had no trouble spotting it. I didn't read the hint, and now I see that the cache was moved, probably by the kids that use the tree. The cache looked to be entirely intact, with log and a variety of trading items.

Coutts Like a Knife

By: Cachebot Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I parked off of Porter and did the little hike over to the cache. Very nice craftsmanship and attention to detail!

Arastradero Oaks

By: Changes in Latitudes Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I went out for a little car caching this afternoon, and this one was along my route. It was a little hike from where I parked, but I needed the exercise. Thanks!

Juana Briones Slept Here

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

My legs didn't feel like a hike this afternoon, so looked for some interesting spots that were easy to access. Thanks!

Do You See What I Saw?

By: E-T Explorers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I looked for the first stage two or three years ago with no luck. Today I spent a little more time and eventually came across it. My hands found it, so I couldn't be sure I got it back exactly where it was, but I doubt if it was in the original spot anyway. No problems with stage two. Thanks!

Procrastinator's Stash

By: Fyrfly Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Other

I just followed my GPSr to some nearby parking. I found a Sharpie at the jumping off point, so I am probably not the first cacher to use that approach. I was distracted at the first stage by a geocache-like item, but eventually spotted the item of interest, and with some difficulty was able to read the numbers. No problems finding the cache. Thanks!

Historic Palo Alto (Mayfield) 4

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I had to read the plaques a couple times before setting off for stage two. No problem grabbing the final with the nice hint.

Virtual Machine Bus Stop

By: Runnerinwoods Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I run their product every day to have a Linux machine running on my Windows desktop computer. No major problems with the cache, except I was scratching my head for a while over the evil twin. Thanks!

By: Moon Lady's Elder Sister Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I really like the walkways that cut though this neighborhood. No problems spotting the cache. Thanks!

Los Gatos Little Pictures

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I enlisted the help of my older son yesterday, and we set out with high hopes. We skipped a few pictures, picked up the trail, lost it, and picked it up again. We finally called it a day after an hour and a half or so of walking around. Today I gave it another try by myself. I couldn't pick up the trail where we left off, but I wandered far enough that I spotted another picture. I spotted 19 of the 44 pictures in my two days of attempts. Hardly a passing grade, but I signed the cache log. I think this cache is definitely worth a four-start difficulty rating. Thanks!

Angular Reasoning

By: The Rat Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I just noticed this cache a few days ago, and figured it was one I should be able to solve. The Matlab script I normally use to do a gradient search didn't work too well. The function doesn't have a nice bowl shape. I ended up spending a lot of time adjusting values in FizzyCalc. My answer was plenty close enough to find the cache, and the retrieval turned out to be a nice lunchtime walk. Thanks!

AQ Vista Point

By: cc and family Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

New Almaden Trail Bridge

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Well, I ran into a bunch of high school trail runners, a family, a couple, and a few others on this trail today. Its popularity is probably due to the shade today. No problem spotting the cache. Thanks!

Road Less Traveled

By: CC Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Leslie's Favorite Trail Cache #1

By: ProTechCC Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

The cache was pretty full, probably because it is one of the few regular-sized caches along this trail. I decided to drop the red Jeep travel bug that I picked up yesterday. Thanks!

Leslie's Favorite Trail Cache # 2

By: ProTechCC Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I passed this one up as I hiked from Webb Canyon to the Buena Vista mine. There were a couple girls stopped and yakking at the trail intersection, so I just hiked on by. No problems finding on my return, but I was pretty tired at this point. The shady trail was very welcome today. I left a geocoin that I picked up earlier.

Buena!

By: ChipnDonna Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Bear Meadow

By: camnpete Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I Scream. You Scream.

By: SouthBayCrew Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was looking for a few close-to-home caches to find late this afternoon. I cranked out the solution with a visit to Wikipedia and a couple of lines typed into the Matlab interpreter. The trails to the cache had horseshoe prints and deer hoof prints, but not much in the way of hiker's boot prints. Thanks!

Doc's Geo Cache V

By: The Doc Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I didn't read the logs for this cache before heading out. The new log is still in excellent shape. The baggie of trinkets outside the cache container was chewed open, so I replaced it, but a new container that is big enough for this stuff is what is needed.

This was my first stop on the trail this morning. It was overcast at home this morning, but the clouds were all below this level and the sky was an incredible blue. The cache looked like it could use a couple things, so I left the Travelin' Punk TB and Bytemobile turtle #434. Thanks!

Henry Coe

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Wow, this cache could have taken quite a while to find. The coordinates were good for me, and I got lucky and turned over the right rock. There certainly weren't many visual clues. Thanks!

Headquarters

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my first visit to the Headquarters entrance of Coe. I found 15 caches and had no rattlesnake encounters, which I count as a great day in Coe. Thanks!

Eric's Cache

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

The views this morning were a little different from those on the cache page. A solid blanket of clouds below and blue sky above. No problems navigating to the cache. I left Bytemobile turtle #435.

A Coe Picnic Spot

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Just as I was about to reach for the cache, I got a call from my wife who was in the process of opening her yarn shop (Green Planet Yarn). The computer which handles all the sales transactions wasn't connecting to the internet. Luckily, it was an easy fix, and she was soon up and running and I was signing the cache and not rushing down the mountain to get the computer going.

Coe Balls

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Well, I already did Bear Balls, so I didn't take a ball. Thanks for the cache, though.

Frog Lake

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Wow, you don't see many 50 cal ammo cans this far in. This was my first visit to the Headquarters entrance for Coe, and I had an excellent day - 15 caches and no rattlesnake encounters. Thanks!

Decision Point Two

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

There were a couple women having a picnic a hundred feet or so from the cache site, so they probably wondered what I was up to. I didn't spot the cache immediately, but saw it after I poked around a little. Thanks!

That's Middle Ridge

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Pretty nice view from up here today. No problems spotting this one. Thanks!

How Old Am I?

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

This was my first visit to the Headquarters entrance to Henry Coe. It was a great day for hiking up here - not too hot and clear blue skies. I left Bytemobile turtle #436. Thanks!

Frog Rock II

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I appreciated the hint for this cache. I had a good look around, then went for the description and hint and had the cache in hand soon after. Thanks!

My Dad's Ammo Can

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Interesting ammo can and interesting story to go with it. This was my first visit to the Coe Headquarters entrance, and it was a great morning for hiking. Thanks!

Well, I was a little late to this party. No more beads. This was my first visit to the Headquarters entrance of Coe, and it was a beautiful morning for hiking up here. Thanks!

O.W.L.1: The Hairy Plodder Trail

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I had the coordinates of the third stage from my failed attempt three years ago, but I left them in the car and started at stage one again. My memory is bad enough that it was mostly a fresh experience. It turns out that the third stage is now the final, so I didn't really have a chance to mess up again. Thanks!

Kamikaze Downhillers

By: bykenut Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I was on foot today. If I had my bike, I would have been pushing it about half the time. Nice little spot for a break. Thanks!

Joani's Crafty Cache - Crochet

By: Marky Difficulty: 4.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

My wife has been crocheting and knitting since she was a little girl and her mom had a yarn shop in North Carolina. Her dream has been to open a shop of her own, and she finally did it this year with a new shop in downtown Campbell. On the other hand, I am not all that crafty, and had to resort to other means to find the coordinates. Thanks!

The Rainbow Bridge

By: bykenut Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

We have had lots of dogs, and my wife even bred and showed them for a while. They are all gone, and I doubt if we will be having any more. Putting them down when they are unable to get up and walk is just too painful. Thanks for the cache!

Damnice Cache

By: Two Hawks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I got an early start this morning to beat the heat. The instructions worked out great for me. In fact, the final few steps brought me closer to the cache than my GPSr normally would. Thanks!

STP Overlook

By: bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I headed out early today to beat the heat. Nice views up here today. I took the Punk travel bug and left Cleo's travel bug and left Bytemobile turtle #433. Thanks!

Downhill Alternative

By: Vaudesir Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I had completed my primary objectives for the morning, and was considering heading back to the car, but this cache was only about 0.25 miles away. It was farther than that by the trail, of course, and there was some significant elevation change. When I got to the site, I looked in the obvious spots, read the hint and the last log, and started having dark thoughts about this last cache of the day. I persevered, however, and found a spot that matched the hint and was three feet or so from the nearest poison oak. Thanks!

O.W.L.2: The Hairy Plodder Trail

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

Well, nearly three years after I DNF'ed O.W.L.1, I found it and continued on to O.W.L.2. I was close to giving up at the Willow stage, but I hung around, investigated all the possibilities, and finally spotted it. The final had some very nice camo. Without the camo, the cache would have looked like all the other trash in the bushes. Thanks for the very challenging series!

Forgotten Mine

By: Chickasaw of ynots4 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I took a short detour down from English Camp to look for this one. I found the first stage of Rocky Start years ago, but DNF'ed the second stage. If it was this easy, then I am blind. Thanks for a second try!

An Amazing Place

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I probably never would have gotten around to doing The Amazing Race, so it's nice that the final was recycled and I was able to come out here. It looks somebody had a radio station of some sort up here years ago. There are several antenna tower footings and coaxial cable ends. I left Bytemobile turtle #432. Thanks!

San Cristobal Mine Cache Redux

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

It's nice to have another cache here, although it took me a few minutes to find it. I thought the original cache here was really cool, with maps of the tunnels below and a flashlight to use for peeking through the grate. Thanks!

April Mine Trestle

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I played hooky from work today and took a bike ride. I had been hiking through this area once before, but it must have been before the cache was placed. Thanks!

Mystery Tower View

By: Locatorman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Cool, a park and grab. I put my bike in the rack and had a look around. Then I wandered here and there and investigated a lot of hidey-holes. I was almost ready to give up when I spotted something that looked very promising. Thanks!

The grove

By: Banana Slug Racing Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I started out on my bike from Woods Rd as soon as the ranger opened the gate this morning. I didn't stop and turn on my GPSr until I was 500 feet past the cache, and had to push my bike back up the hill I just went down. No problems spotting the cache. I left a Roaring Camp train whistle and took the Earth Day pathtag.

CKayak's Home Base TB Hotel

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I combined errands this afternoon, and checked out caches in the vicinity of the mall. I scoped things out from the Google satellite view, so I knew about where to look, but wasn't sure which of the two houses. The CKayaks-mobile in the driveway made it pretty clear which house was the right one. As a bonus, I got to chat with the cache owner who was w orking in the garage. I left the Tasmaniac travel bug and took Cleo's Travel Bug. Thanks!

Schneiber Grove

By: crawburr Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Large

I second the idea of using your GPSr when looking for this cache. I thought the grove was below me, but I sure couldn't see any sign down there. I finally followed my GPSr and spotted the sign then the cache. The tub-o-goodies is quite full I took the travel bug and left Bytemobile turtle #431.

Majestic Grove

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I was about to head off the trail toward the grove, but decided to read about the cache on my PDA before doing so. That turned out to be a good move. My GPSr wasn't exactly right on the cache. While I was sitting there signing the log, a pair of hikers came by and sort of surprised me. I saw only two sets of hikers all day.

By: the girls and I Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The parking lot was deserted this evening. I initially headed off toward the wrong area, but my GPS soon brought me around to the right area to spot the cache. Thanks!

Birds Nest II

By: the girls and I Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

It was a beautiful evening for caching. I'm out from California on a business trip, and this is just like California weather. No problems finding the nest. Thanks!

By: Three Boys a Caching Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I stopped by about 7 pm. It was a great evening for a little caching before finding a restaurant. No problems finding this one. Thanks!

Nano in Bloom

By: the girls and I Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I usually consider nanos that aren't in plain sight to be unfair, but the generous hint evened things out. I was pleased to see that there was still room to sign the log. Thanks!

Scary Series- Jackie-O

By: RES414CUE Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

This shopping center looks like it could use a few new tenants. When my wife and I were looking at places for a new yarn shop about six months ago (in California) shopping centers like this had scary-high rents. Thanks!

Scary Series- BOOOOOOO

By: RES414CUE Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I did a little shopping center caching after work today, and this was my first stop. It took me a couple minutes, but I finally got the right angle on this one. Thanks!

It's Electric

By: RES414CUE Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This is my third business trip to Stafford this year, and I have cached a little each time. I guess if I keep this up, I will clean out the area. Thanks!

Foul Fowl

By: RES414CUE Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

My fourth and final res414cue cache on an evening of shopping center caching. I had to look closely for this one, but I spotted it after a couple minutes of searching. Thanks!

The Lost Village of Lobitos

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was just a quick jaunt off Highway 1, so we decided to give it a go. Mrs. Bytemobile spotted a camel in a corral just before we reached the second stage. (Is that a camel?!! Pull over!). The multi was nicely laid out with places to pull over at each stage. Thanks!

For The Record

By: Team Stumblebutt Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Mrs. Bytemobile headed for the yarn shop and I headed for a couple caches. I parked in that fenced-in field once before, for the Pumpkin Festival. I thought the coordinates were a little off, but no problems finding the cache with the hint. Thanks!

Toy Planes, Trains and Automobiles

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Mrs. Bytemobile and I were staying in HMB to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We took a drive down the coast to Pescadero and made a couple caching stops along the way. I always stop for PurplePeople caches since there is usually something to see along with a history lesson. Thanks!

Here Fishy Fishy

By: HMB Lipripper Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We are spending a couple nights in HMB, and Mrs. Bytemobile sent me to the Safeway for some Diet Pepsi. I took a short detour and found this cache fairly quickly. I didn't pull out the GPS since I had a look yesterday on Google Earth. That look proved to be fairly accurate. Thanks!

Ethel the Earwig

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Downtown Campbell Walking Tour

By: Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

As a downtown Campbell business owner, I think anything that brings folks to the area is great. I wish I had thought of setting up a big multi. The tour goes right by my wife's yarn shop, which is in the Schrader Building, probably the newest building in downtown Campbell, built in 2003. It is across the street from the oldest commercial building. My brother-in-law, Wirebndr came along on this trek. We had no problems at any of the stages, and enjoyed a few spots along the way that we had not seen before. A volunteer at the Campbell Historical Museum was sorry that we had arrived just after closing time, but we assured him that we had our own map and plan for a tour. Thanks!

Ardenwood's Back Door

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The gate was just being opened as I rolled up about 9:30 or so this morning. I parked inside and had a little hike for the two caches here. Thanks!

Eucalyptus Among Us

By: Zippe Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Ardenwood's Blackberries

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The blackberries are just starting to ripen. I decided that there were too many for the birds to eat, so I had my fill. I was headed for the same Ardenwood picnic as dclendenin. Thanks!

Benny the BedBug

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Buelah the ButterFly

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Child's Play NOT!

By: runnerinwoods Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The cache page printout with my solution had been kicking around in my car for a few weeks. I finally decided to head out at lunchtime today, since it is just a few minutes from work (and I deserved a break). I didn't have my GPSr, so I had a look at Google Earth before setting out, and that view proved to be quite accurate. The cache was in excellent shape despite having no visits for a while. Thanks!

LGT: Pruneyard

By: Dr Jekyll Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Two or three weeks ago, I searched high and low for this. I didn't find it, but I had a good idea where it might be, I just didn't want to take the time to check out my hunch. This evening, after dinner at the Pruneyard with relatives from out of town, I mentioned to my wife that I had a short errand. I quickly grabbed the cache and added my signature. Thanks!

I think I know you!

By: AlphaRomero.com Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

This turned out to be the hardest find of the day. My GPSr was wandering around, taking me up and down the wooded hillside. I want a new GPSr with a more sensitive receiver!

Saguaro Sempervirens

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I don't think a photo does this tree justice. You have to be there to appreciate its massiveness. I happily used the hint and parsed and reparsed it and the cache description. I wasn't spotting much from the base of the tree, but I wandered around and spotted what I needed to see. Thanks!

The Sky's This Way

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I managed to find this one without the hint, after my GPSr took me on a looping approach to the cache. I was the first one to the trailhead this morning, and it was nothing but solitude so far.

The Peppermint Stick Tree

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Quite a unique tree. I found the cache after poking around here and there. This was my turn-around point, and next I headed for the Pomponio Trail to check on one of my caches. Thanks!

Camp Pomponio Road Trailhead

By: Michael_SFBA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I found this cache quite useful as a waypoint, both for finding the trailhead and for measuring how far to the car as I was hiking back on the Upper Coyote Ridge trail. I was not so enthusiastic about the placement. The ground cover is a mixture of poison oak and some other vines. I accidentally brushed my cheek against a poison oak vine as I was inspecting the nearby trees.

TC-Rancho Again

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I was looking for a little exercise this afternoon, and this cache fit the bill. I have been up this hill before and really wasn't looking forward to it again, but there is quite a bit of shade on the trail. I had a look at Google Earth before heading out, so I knew the lay of the land, terrain-wise. I took a relatively direct route to the cache, and left by a better, more round-about trail. I think the term bushwacking is relative. There are old trails and animal trails, so unless you give a waypoint, people are going to find multiple ways up here. I took the Caching For Dummies travel bug and left Bytemobile turtle #420. Thanks!

Junior Monster

By: the girls and I Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

This was a spooky little hike through the woods this evening as it was starting to get dark. Spider webs hit me in the face and fire flies lit up here and there (something I don't see in California). No problems locating the cache. I TNLN. Thanks!

By: the girls and I Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Not much going on here this evening. I spotted the cache the first place I poked around, so the coordinates are not too bad. Thanks!

Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight

By: Team Christiansen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The trail to the cache is overgrown with waist high weeds, so it's not a place to hike after a rain. I saw the one travel bug in the cache, but I decided to leave it there since I didn't have one with me. Thanks!

The Mines of Moria

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

This was my least favorite of all the tunnels I have done. There was the bathroom, complete with a couple rolls of toilet paper at the beginning, then the cramped last section, that seemed to be squished a little lower in the middle from the weight of the highway. The log is in a sorry state, damp and black with mold, but I made my mark as best I could.

This was the first of three tunnels for me this morning. I used rubber boots and managed to keep from stepping in anything very deep. Thanks for the adventure!

Great Wilder Ranch Trail Head

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was my last cache of the day. I was already dirty from grubbing around in caves and tunnels, so I got down and dirty and spotted this one pretty quickly. Thanks!

Where the Sun Sets

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Nice views out here, but they would be even nicer with a little sun. I'm not complaining, though, it was a bit on the hot side in San Jose today. Thanks!

Yellow Rose and Panther Beaches Parking

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Nice photo on the cache page! There wasn't much sun this morning, and everything was kind of drippy wet, but it was better than the heat over the hill today. Thanks!

The Lair of Smaug

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was my second tunnel of the morning. I had my rubber boots, and managed to lower myself over the wall to avoid the deep water. A ways down the tunnel, I was thinking about something other than where I was stepping, and managed to get a little water in one boot, but other than that, had no mishaps. Thanks!

Wilder Coast

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I parked by bike and waited for a couple of dads and a number of kids to go by, then I spotted the cache quickly. I also spotted my next objective from here. Thanks!

Cachers on the Storm

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

We could have used a little rain today to wash some of the smoke out of the air. I could have used a bottle of oxygen as I dragged myself up the trail to this point. No problems spotting the cache. Thanks!

Wild Pig

By: Wet Blanket Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I made it up here early on this smoky, poor air quality morning. The poison oak can be avoided if you are careful. I left Bytemobile turtle #415. Thanks!

Quiet Please!

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I had a seat on the log to sign and enjoy the setting. A tick climbing up the leg my jeans disturbed the tranquility, and I brushed him off and left. Thanks!

Trail's End Too!

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I walked by the cache too since my GPSr reception was poor, but I soon figured it out and used the hint to spot the cache. Thanks!

The redwoods are back!

By: Vaudesir Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

It took a few minutes of looking, but I finally spotted this one. The container color helps. I navigated the preserve like a methodical rat, turning right at each junction and turning around at each dead end. That technique brought me up here early in the day, which was fortunate hill climbing-wise. Thanks!

Los Gatos Country Club.......Not!

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The posted coordinates took be to a fence with some berry vines. The berries won't be ripe for a few weeks yet. A couple jays raised a ruckus as I poked around for the cache. I soon discovered the reason - a fledging jay was standing on a log not far from the cache, and didn't move as I got fairly close. Thanks!

Bear Creek Redwoods Parking (BC04)

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

When I got my permit on Monday, I wasn't figuring on such poor air quality. I decided to go early and hope for the best. I finished up just after noon, and was pretty well beat. I didn't see another soul the whole morning, but a ranger truck pulled in here just as I was pulling out.

What's up?

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was my last cache of the morning, found about noon as I headed back to my car. Thanks for the interesting hides and the tour of the preserve!

Slip Sliding Away

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

This was probably one of my longer hunts of the morning. Turns out it was not a typical decon hanging in the bushes hide. I zeroed in on it eventually. No muddy trails today, but the air quality was horrific. Thanks!

Explore

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I did a little exploring nearby and thought the large metal artifact was interesting. It appears to be an antenna tower of some sort, with a platform for standing near the top and a rotator. (Picture uploaded.) Thanks!

The Lost Vineyard

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

No problems with this one. It was nice to have another breather on the way up. Thanks!

Bear Balls

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I navigated the preserve like a methodical rat. I turned right at every junction, and turned around at every dead end. This technique brought me to this part of the preserve early, which turned out to be a good thing hill climbing-wise. I left Bytemobile turtle #414. Thanks!

A Tribute to Mrs. Foghead

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Not chosen

This is a beautiful and secluded spot. The view was hampered by the smoky air today, though. I started early today, and now it was just after 11 am, so I pulled out my peanut butter sandwich here and had a rest. I left Bytemobile turtle #416.

BC12

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

No trouble spotting this one as I walked up! Thanks!

Bear Creek Redwoods Bridge

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I guessed the likely hiding spot as I approached the bridge, but my GPSr said I was still 200 feet from the cache. I trudged on across, then read the very useful hint, and came on back. Thanks!

Up A Tree Without A Ladder

By: Geokashers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small

I looked around the tree of interest before reading the hint. I didn't think of doing what the hint says until I read it. I don't think the tree was designed for the over-55 demographic, but I had no trouble with it. Thanks!

Alma Dale

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Interesting history you were able to dig up. There seem to be artifacts here, there, and everywhere on this preserve. Thanks!

Bear Creek Redwoods

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Nice area down here. It looks like the creek could really flow heavily through here in the winter. My GPSr was a little uncertain here, so I gladly used the generous hint. Thanks!

Pig Roast

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

This preserve has lots of interesting artifacts. I didn't notice the pig trap, but maybe I just wasn't observant. The air quality was horrific for hiking today, but I had my permit and my plans, so I stuck it out and hiked pretty much the whole preserve. Thanks!

Trail's End

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I wasn't sure the trail was going to lead to the cache, but eventually it wound around and took me there. I was very happy to find the cache quickly since there are so many possible hiding spots in the area. Thanks!

BCR Leftovers

By: Sharkz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was my next-to-the-last cache this morning at BCR. My GPSr was a bit squirrely here and led me away from the trail, but the hint eventually got be back on track. Thanks!

El Camino Skylights

By: bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I headed out at lunchtime to go for a walk and to see this new section of trail. The trail was very nice and the undercrossing even nicer. Perhaps even too nice from a taxpayer point of view, but the trail was getting users today, so maybe it's all good. Thanks!

Jeffery the Flying Pig

By: runeshower & cyan_blue Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I interpreted the hint to mean that the cache was not on the ground. That is not currently the case, but it was a perfectly fine hide. Thanks!

Colin's 16th Birthday

By: runeshower & cyan_blue Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I decided to do something different on the way home tonight and stop for a few caches. This one was no problem. Thanks!

Somewhere on the Way to the Mall

By: catomcat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I made a rare caching run on the way home from work tonight. The weather was perfect for being out and about, and the cache turned out to be a piece of cake this time (I have DNF'ed before). Thanks!

Acquedotto

By: bullit Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I'm pretty sure this is a Was Not There rather than a DNF. I found what looked to be the hiding spot, but no bison tube was there.

page-ing all geese, page-ing all geese!

Found it, no problem. The log is full. Perhaps another cacher or two can write tiny and sign here and there.

The Links

By: Gitonyerhorse Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I've thought about looking for this before, but I figured the hunting would surpass my short attention span. I think I figured out the coordinates OK, but had no luck in the hunting part.

Los Gatos View

By: mfc61 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I've biked up here before, but it was hot, and driving around was easier today. This one was refreshing after a couple nearby DNFs.

Watch out for Bears

By: zapboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I need to get in shape for a backpacking trip coming up in June with my sons, so this hike is a first step. This was cache number two on an early morning hike. I left Bytemobile turtle #412. Thanks!

End of the Trail 1

Timber Wolf

By: zapboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I'm starting to get out on the trail again after helping my wife open up a new yarn shop in downtown Campbell. I got an early start this morning and this was the first stop. I left turtle #411. Thanks!

Dead Droplet (#5)

By: kidsanddogs Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We were early for our flight back to California, so we stopped for a couple caches along the way. We spotted three deer where we entered the woods, or rather they spotted us, and watched us intently until we got too close. Found the cache after a thorough search of the area. Thanks!

The Dead Drop

By: MeBuff8Fan Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I don't normally include puzzle caches in my PQs when I travel, but I did this time. This shopping center is across the street from where we stayed, so it was convenient for caching before going out to dinner. Thanks to dclendenin for doing the heavy lifting on this one.

By: the girls and I Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was a very nice park to find for two out-of-town cachers with a little time after work and before dinner. No problems with this one. Thanks!

stop whining.

By: dakotasdad Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

dclendenin wondered where I was going when I headed for this one. It turns out that it was missing from his PQ for some reason. His Garmin 60csx was locked to more satellites than my 60cs, and he zeroed in on the cache location first. Thanks!

Locust Shade Limbo

By: Three Boys a Caching Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

We were hiking up the road, so this one was a slog up the steep slope from the road. dclendenin spotted it quickly after figuring out the right area. Thanks!

Mini-Junior

By: the girls and I Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Crucifix

By: the girls and I Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Saratoga Creek Poohsticks

By: SpinningCompass Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

After I made waffles and read the paper, I fired up the computer and saw this new cache nearby. I decided to hop on my bike and get a little Sunday morning exercise. I had to search a while for the cache, and my hands found it rather than my eyes, so I'm not sure it is back exactly how it was originally, but it will do. Nice craftsmanship!

Give The Dog A Bone

By: B & J Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

After hopping on my bike for a new cache in the area, I decided to extend my ride and go after this one. I noticed that Banana Slug Racing signed the plastic bag yesterday instead of the log. The log is still there, and in fine shape.

Mindego Bay

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was the cache I had the most trouble with on my hike this morning. The GPS reception was poor enough that my search radius was a hundred feet or so. I thought this particular tree was an oak. The leaves were so high and small that I didn't have any good evidence to the contrary. Found the cache anyway after a thorough search of the area.

Beyond Invasion

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

At first I didn't believe my GPSr. I pulled out the PDA and read about the cache, and yes, it really was off the road. I carefully stepped around the new green arms of poison oak in my path, and made it to the cache. I left Bytemobile turtle #409. Thanks!

Laurel Forest

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

No problems with this cache. Good GPS reception, and no need to pull out the PDA. I probably should have saved it though, for a break on the hike back up. Thanks!

Mindego Hill Dolphin Nest

By: ChipnDonna Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I just before I got to the cache, I met a big bearded fellow coming up the road on his ATV. I waved and he said "Good morning" as he passed. He must have been one of the brothers that live on Mindego Ranch. I was a guest of a co-worker who was renting a trailer on Mindego Ranch many years ago. We must have come up this road to visit, but it looks a little different on foot. I found the cache without too much trouble. Thanks!

By: PisoMojado Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This was my last cache of the morning, after a hike over toward Mindego Hill. After finding the cache, I took the small path over the hill back toward the pullout along Alpine Road. The top of that hill really has a nice 360 degree view. Thanks!

The Fabulous Furry Fir

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I was just about to pull out the PDA and look for a hint when I got the right angle on the cache and spotted it. This was my first find in almost three months. My wife has had her new yarn shop in downtown Campbell open now for a couple weeks, this was a Friday off from my job, and my to-do list was relatively short, so I decided it was time for a hike. I left Bytemobile turtle #408.

Indistinct Road to Somewhere

By: runnerinwoods Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I left my bike at the top of the hill, and hiked on down here. I had a look around before reading about the cache, and actually had my hand on the cache camo. After I read about what I was looking for, I made another pass around the area, and finally came up with it. Thanks!

Secret Ottlet Communications

By: Team Ottlet Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I'm tend to be a bike pusher (uphill) as well as a bike rider (downhill, wheeee!), and it was a long uphill push from the creek. I spotted an unofficial communication stenciled on a leg of the tower, and thought the cache might be nearby, but that proved not to be the case. I pulled out the PDA, did a little reading, and wandered over and spotted the cache. Thanks!

Looking Down From a Dark Place

By: runnerinwoods Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I was looking up in the trees for something that appeared to be looking down at me. That was the wrong idea since down is a relative sort of thing. I finally wandered around a bit and spotted the creative hide. Thanks!

Ermine's Mushroom Cache

By: Team Ottlet Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I had a look for the cache before reading the description and totally missed it. This was going to be my turn-around point for this morning, but I still had plenty of morning left. I had a couple of unfound caches on top of Black Mountain, so I re-planned my route and made a loop, to Black Mountain, down Indian Creek Trail to Canyon Trail, and back to Page Mill Rd. I took the Hula Bum traveling geocoin and left Bytemobile turtle #407. Thanks!

Not a Page Mill Road Cache

By: Team Ottlet Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I parked along Page Mill about 8:15 am, got on my bike, and headed for the Adobe Creek Trail. Things were totally fogged in this morning at home, but the sun was shining bright up here. This was the first cache of the morning. Thanks!

My Side of the Mountain

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

This cache wasn't in the route I originally planned for this morning, but it turned out that I had plenty of time, and I was on my bike, so I pedaled and pushed on over here. I looked for the cache before reading about it, then read the hint and it took a few more minutes of searching to find it. The camo worked well. Thanks!

Adobe Creek Trail View

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This was also my first time on this trail. I have been planning to come out here for a couple years now, and the new TeamOttlet caches got me to overcome my inertia. I had a look around for the cache before reading the description or hint, but there were just too many good hiding places here. I got a little surprise when I put back the cache and a mouse ran over the back of my hand. I left Bytemobile turtle #406. Thanks!

Otter ?s Mischief Cache

By: Team Ottlet Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

There was plenty of water flowing in the creek this morning. I parked my bike quite close to the cache site, but didn't read the description or hint right away. I followed my GPSr around for a few minutes, and it had lots of opinions on where the cache might be -- anywhere from 50 to 300 feet from the trail. I finally pulled out the PDA, read about the cache and spotted it quickly. Thanks!

Hidden Pass

By: ChipnDonna Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

As I was pushing my bike up the hill, I met a ranger who was talking to all the bike riders (and bike pushers) today. There was a bad bike - horse incident earlier this week and the ranger was reminding cyclists to yield. I found the cache without needing the hint. The ride back down the hill was great. The road is smooth, and I had to watch my speed.

By: ChipnDonna Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

By: Mr. Ranger Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Nice furniture up here! I had a seat while I signed the log and enjoyed the view. I spoke with Ms. Ranger a little later in the day. There was a bike - horse incident earlier in the week, and she was talking with cyclists to remind them to yield to horses and pedestrians.

GeoWomyn's Backstage Pass

Secret Trailhead: Arastradero

Walktober To This One

By: ChipnDonna Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I was having a hard time maintaining a good temperature on my bike ride this morning. I had to ball up my fingers in my gloves, then finally had to shed the gloves, windbreaker, and cap since I was hot. I zeroed out right next to the cache, but didn't spot it right off. I finally read the hints, looked a little closer, and spotted it.

Turning Tides

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Lots of folks were out on the trail by the time I got down to this one. A big slow moving group with kids and strollers was just leaving the cache site as I rolled up, so this was a quick stop.

Pickleweed

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

It looks like the high tides come quite close to the container. I had a look at a map of the caches I haven't found and decided I was due for a bike ride along the bay. My query of the 500 closest non-puzzles now goes out only about 15 miles (not far from here) whereas it used to extend more than 20 miles.

Yes, I know that story. I was a bit puzzled at first, but then finally connected with the hint. There was a stream of runners headed down the street so I had to let a few pass before making the grab. Thanks!

Cement Pond

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Since I had the bike on the vehicle, I decided to stop for a second ride along the bay this morning. The cache took me a few minutes to find since I wasn't expecting anything clever out here. The coordinates were right on, as usual along the bay, so that limited the search area. I heard some shooting as I was searching, and on the way back to my car, I followed a hunter with his gun across the handle bars of his bike, and a dead goose hanging out of the pack on his back.

Tides

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The tide was quite low when I headed by here this morning. The coordinates were right on for me. I didn't read the description or hint -- just bent over and there it was. Thanks!

Why did the Cacher Cross the River?

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I hope this cache is found regularly because otherwise the container will rust to the point where it will be difficult to open. I had no difficulty, but the rust is well established. Thanks!

Spider Hole

By: virtualdavid Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

"C or N" gave me fits, and I think I found it on the third visit. This one proved to be a bit more visible to me. Thanks!

Bike Trail Wannabe

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

This was my turn-around point to head back, then down the other side. Thanks!

L-grl's Horde

By: Capt Tong & the Jungle Mock Rangers Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had the bike on my vehicle, so I decided to stop here and pick up the caches that had accumulated here since my last visit. The cache is quite full, including travel bugs, but I was in a hurry-up mood and decided to leave them. Thanks!

Tales of a Sea Cow

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

A look at my map of un-found caches told me that I was due for a bike ride along the bay. This was a nice morning for it. You didn't have to worry about sunburn. Thanks!

Somewhere Hiding, Again

By: catomcat Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

There were three deer watching me as I walked up. They didn't move much until I did something suspicious -- digging through a pile of rocks.

Chamise House View

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I've been on the Chamise trail at least a couple times before. The trail is quite exposed, but the sun was no worry this morning. The trail was wet, but it is well drained, and there was not much mud. I left Bytemobile turtle #403. Thanks!

jeffrey's Office

By: tico jeffrey Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The cache must have had a little maintenance done recently since there was a clean, dry empty log inside. There was also a travel bug in the cache which I don't see on the inventory for the cache. Thanks!

The Sam Box

By: geomagguy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

The first cache that was hidden close by was neat and I'm sorry to see that it's been archived for a while. I showed up today to hunt three caches in the park, and managed to get them all. Thanks!

Somewhere within a Cache

By: catomcat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

Very nicely executed. I almost didn't get started, though, because the cache was so well concealed by the last hider.

Chamise Clearing

By: GoGoJo Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was the turn-around point for my hike this morning. The views were limited by the overcast, but the hiking was nice. I left Bytemobile turtle #404. Thanks!

Ant Farm

By: javawriter Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

No ants around today. I've been bowling here a couple times. I didn't know about the skateboard park.

Rancho San Antonio - Mora Drive Entrance

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I spotted this as I went by on my way to a hike up the Chamise trail. There were a couple women behind me, and I didn't want to wait for them to pass, so I picked it up on my way out. Thanks!

Iterations

By: E.caballus Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was home sick a couple days this week, and discovered some E.caballus puzzles. They are about my speed -- easy enough to figure out if you spend a little time at it. No problems spotting the cache. Thanks!

Birdhouses and Barbedwire

By: OneAngryPuppy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I followed the fire break on my way back from a hike up the Chamise trail. The contour to the cache was fairly reasonable, but my boots picked up a lot of moisture from the wet ground. No problems spotting the cache. Thanks!

Horses in Ortega

By: E.caballus Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I headed over first thing this morning. The first bell rang as I spotted the cache and the kids on the sidewalk broke into a run. Thanks for the nice puzzle.

Somewhere Near the RS09 Trailhead.

By: catomcat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

My GPSr zeroed out surprisingly close to the cache for an area like this. I thought the hint was fair, and the find was satisfying after a short search and a couple breaks to let hikers pass.

Great Recreation

By: OneAngryPuppy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I found a good contour over here from Birdhouses and Barbedwire. I guess the first cache here must have been archived. The views were not bad this morning, but somewhat limited by the overcast. Thanks!

Meet & Greet Groundspeak & Garmin in the Bay Area

By: Signal the Frog Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

My Garmin 60cs has about 3000 caches on it, so I want to kick the tires on the Colorado.

Sgt. Preston

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

Sgt. Preston looks much different than the last time I saw him. I think I have been on a portion of this trail before, but it looked much different today. Everything was still quite wet, except the cache contents which were quite dry. I took Aerodactyl sigitem #142 and left Bytemobile turtle #402.

Wedding Shower #3

By: southbayday Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

This was the toughest of the Wedding Shower series for me. Lots of activity here in the early afternoon. I think the difficulty is also a function of exactly how the last finder places this cache. Anyway, thanks for the series.

Wedding Shower #5

By: southbayday Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Not chosen

I went for this one after a quick stop at the post office. No problems spotting it.

Encore Bizarre

By: mfc, the storyteller Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

My kids went to Marshall Lane and Rolling Hills, so I know the area pretty well. I headed out today to find some of the nearby caches that have built up over the last year while I working on a remodeling project. Thanks!

Wedding Shower #2

By: southbayday Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Not chosen

I was intent on completing the Wedding Shower series today since they were all close by. No trouble with this one. Thanks!

Wedding Shower #4

By: southbayday Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was working on making a little dent in my nearest unfound cache list today. I left my PDA in the car, so I didn't have the hint, but spotted the cache with no trouble. Thanks!

WW (What Walkway?)

By: mfc, the storyteller Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This walkway provides an interesting perspective on the campus that I hadn't seen before. Nobody around here in the early afternoon. Thanks!

EyeGuy

By: devonushka Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I took a day off work to recover from my cold. I decided that a little fresh air would do me good before I took my nap. Thanks!

The Dress

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I came in from the top, and recognized the area from a previous caching expedition. I spotted the likely hiding spot as I walked up, but for some reason failed to spot the cache until about the third pass at the area. Thanks for the puzzle. Easy ones seem to be the only ones I can solve anymore.

This old park feels like a long lost friend

By: wadazi and bentleythecat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I brought my sons here a number of times when they were growing up. For some reason, they called it the "secret door park". I think it had something to do with the play structures they had back then. Thanks!

HWOB

By: krabaple and Scorpion King Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had a couple sons in sports, and this wouldn't have been too far away, but I either never knew about this place or they weren't in business back then. Thanks for the cache!

Wedding Shower #1

By: southbayday Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

My weekly query of the nearest 500 non-puzzle caches has shrunk in radius from over 20 miles to about 15 miles over the past year. I decided to go find some of the closest ones today. I found a bunch, but I doubt if that radius will grow very much. Thanks!

Punny

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I solved this shortly after it was published, then filed the printout on my desk. I ran across the puzzle again a couple days ago and worked on solving it again. I got six of the answers right off, but that is pretty sad since I had all the answers a year ago. Thanks!

Campo di Cachi

By: jgtaylor123 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We have a bocce ball set that we use sometimes when we are camping. The uneven ground that we play on makes for a game that must be totally different from what you would experience here. The log got soaked in the rain, but I was able to sign with my writing instrument just fine.

Steinbeck #6--Arroyo Del Ajo

By: Badwaterboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The gardeners were out this morning, but they were behind me and couldn't see what I was up to. The cache container has proven to be not quite water tight, and the logs are all damp, but my writing instrument didn't have any trouble signing. Thanks!

The kids on the school bus are watching you

By: bentleythecat and wadazi Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The cache container has held up very nicely in the rain. The screw top keeps the moisture out. Thanks!

Tantaulizing

By: E.caballus Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

No problem finding this one. I did have a little trouble pulling out the log, and a paper clip would have been handy, but it came out after a little coaxing with the tools I had. Thanks!

Somewhere on the Way to the Mall

By: catomcat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Well, I can see how a catomcat cache could be hidden here, but I sure didn't see anything like what drew the attention of the GeoBrowns.

Please, Please

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was out picking up a couple solved puzzles this afternoon, and decided to do this one as well. It was pretty quick, since I had done its predecessor. Thanks!

Sedgwick stump

By: vaddynwashere Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I found the cache quickly as I walked up, but probably spent ten minutes there wrestling with the log. It it completely full on both sides. I signed nearly on top of someone else's signature.

Geometry Revisited

By: E.caballus Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I hadn't done any puzzles for a while, but it was too wet for a hike and I didn't want to do any more homeowner's chores. I looked at my closest unsolved puzzles, and this one was near the top and looked doable. I had to do a little online refresher course, but it all turned out well. The cache was a little empty, so I left Bytemobile turtle #401. Thanks!

Portal Tetradecagon

By: E.caballus Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I solved this and Geometry Revisited together, so I picked this one up next. It took me a little while to find the cache, but there wasn't anyone around today wondering what I was up to. Thanks!
