Voyager #1 STS-107

By: alchemist007 and Cartograph4 Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

This cache took me two visits and two trips from California. My second trip is about to come to an end, so I headed out for a little caching before I departed. I had the right coordinates for the second stage last time, but couldn't spot the micro. This time, I got the right angle and spotted it. The final was also nicely done. Thanks!

Eat Mor Chikin

By: alchemist007 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was close to the hotel, so I made it my first stop this morning. I tried to make it harder than it was, then finally spotted it. Thanks!

Tee Bone

By: Gustav 3 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my second stop on a quick caching tour this morning. Not many folks around this early, and I made a quick grab. Thanks!

Jack Rabbit Haven

By: CacheAbels Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Nicely done cammo! Nobody was around early this Saturday morning, so it was easy searching. Thanks!

If they Build it, will you come?

By: CacheAbels Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I guess you really can see things from a long way off in Lubbock. My ten days here is about to come to an end, so I headed out for a quick caching tour this morning. This was one of the more interesting ones. Thanks!

HKT

By: CacheAbels Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I make a quick caching tour this morning before heading back to California tomorrow. This sort of thing could be made much harder, but I was happy for the find. Thanks!

PNG

By: Gustav 3 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Not much traffic back here this morning, and I made a quick grab. Thanks!

Aero Bunker

By: CamClan Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I think this could be called a puzzle just as well as a multicache. I had the local caches loaded up on my PDA and GPS for my trip from California. We sat at the first waypoint and puzzled things out. Near the cache site we flushed a couple of jack rabbits, and were amazed at their speed. The LIA grounds crew were the previous signers on the log sheet. Thanks!

Ghost Plane

By: Espy Seay Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I've been in Lubbock for a week on business and finally had a free morning for geocaching. This seemed like an interesting area, so we came out here for a couple. Thanks!

Mother Never Complained

By: Jedi Horde Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

There was welding and other construction activities going on this morning close around the cache site. It looks like some new pieces are being installed. We strolled in and no one challenged us, so we quickly grabbed the cache, signed, and strolled on out. Thanks!

In Texas, Everything is Bigger!

By: Verbum Sap and Elainiac & LenBob Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

I had a ten day business trip here and had a free morning, so I picked out a few caches and got a co-worker to come along. He shot the picture of me out front. Thanks!

Sea Otter Schwag

By: georgeandmary Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

My route was from the Creekside Trailhead, and I came on my bike. There is lots of great biking back here. Thanks!

Fort Ord Bushes

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I'm getting better at discriminating shades of green. Found this one after a short search. Thanks!

Remodeled Barbershop

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I checked out www.fortordpubliclands.org to help plan my first visit here. The web site says "Public access is available at: * BLM Office (near old Fort Ord Training Range 39) Water is available here. Port-A-Potty here." So I set my GPS for the BLM office and drove there without encountering any barricades or half closed gates. That location didn't look very inviting for a trailhead, and there were no signs advising otherwise, so I drove on the the trailhead near this cache and parked there. There was a big Fort Ord Public Lands sign inviting all trail users, so I parked, unloaded the bike and did a bunch of geocaching. The warnings on all the cache descriptions were confusing to me because I had seen no signage prohibiting me from driving or parking. Anyway, I finally got worried and headed back here, and didn't find a ticket. Later, I encountered a BLM employee who said that they should have barricades on the back route I took, so I just got lucky. Thanks for the cache!

Nearly Bear

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

My first Fort Ord cache. I came down to make a biking and hiking day of it. TNLN. Thanks!

MTBs Beware!

By: LFoucht Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I came close to giving up on this one. I looked in the wrong spot for a long time, then finally went up around the bend and found I got a much closer zero, and spotted the cache right away. Thanks!

Lookout

By: Just a Short Walk Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I don't think I saw any ivy, other than the poison kind, but located the container without too much trouble. This was my first Ft. Ord caching trip, and I spent most of the day at it. Thanks!

Fort Ord Back Country

By: Dagwood & Blondie Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I came down from the San Jose area today for a day of geocaching. This one took me a while to spot. Thanks!

Mean One

By: BirdmanATW and el Jim Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

I came on my bike from the Creekside Trailhead. I thought it was a bit mean. I left the bike down below and slogged up the hill on foot. After I found the cache, it was 3:20 pm, so I decided that this would be a good turn-around point. Thanks!

Green Tuft

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Very nice cammo tape -- it has a fabric texture. Found it with not problem. TNLN. Thanks!

Lizard's Lair

By: The Plunketts Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I'm pretty sure this is Fort Ord Public Lands. Toro Park is on the other side of Highway 68. This was my last cache of the day, and I made my way back to the Creekside Trailhead with my bike. Thanks!

Forgotten Outpost

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

First I looked the area over for a standard Koolrat plastic nut jar, then read the description and hint and found the cache soon after. It is surprisingly hard to spot. Thanks!

Woody Woodpecker

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Yes, it is in excellent condition, and fairly easy to spot -- just how I like them. Thanks!

Manzanita Surprise

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Not much of a problem after I located the right bush. Thanks!

BETA BOB

By: The BETA Team Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Today was my first trip to Ft. Ord, and I spent most of it biking (and pushing my bike). Thanks for the cache!

Cacher Scratcher II

By: The Plunketts Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I picked this one up on my way back to the Creekside Trailhead after a long bike ride. Thanks!

More Green Acres

By: Just a Short Walk Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I parked by bike by the road, and came down for the cache. It is a nice view of the farmland below. Thanks!

ABC - A BETA Cache

By: The BETA Team Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Hmmm. What seems out of place here? Spotted the cache right off. Thanks!

Buzz Buzz

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

OK, I came and got it. Boy someone eats a lot of nuts! Thanks!

Three Sisters (Good Hike/Fair Hide #5)

By: LFoucht Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I spotted a rock that looked out of place as I rode up. The rock wasn't the cache, but it was close enough to help me spot the cache. Thanks!

Giggles

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I like the name trailer-cache. I do a lot of caching when we are camping in our trailer, so it would fit me too. Today, I was just out on my bike, seeing Ft. Ord for the first time, and finding a lot of caches. Thanks!

Ridge and Beyond

By: The Plunketts Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I don't think the hint matches exactly where I found the cache, but it is close enough that the hint is helpful. It took me a while to spot it. I left my bike some distance away and hiked over the rough ground. Thanks!

Here's to Friendship!

By: LFoucht & RoanQ Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I managed to find this one before reading the cache description or hint. The cache was well stocked, but I TNLN. Thanks!

Boom Box

By: Just a Short Walk Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I think I remember a plastic container rather than a rusty ammo box. Maybe it has been upgraded. Thanks!

Happy Trails

By: antiqueaddict Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

This was my first caching trip in Ft. Ord, and I spent most of the day on my bike. In this case, I was pushing it through the sand and up the trail. Thanks!

Training Area 18 (Good Hike/Fair Hide #2)

By: LFoucht Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

That was an exciting ride down the hill on my bike. I had a little trouble spotting the cache. It was close to where I was looking, but just outside my field of view. Thanks!

Redrock (Good Hike/Fair Hide #1)

By: LFoucht Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I'm not that great of a mountain biker, so I pondered whether to hike from the road, but I took the bike, and it all worked out. Thanks!

Hennekens Hide

By: Hidey Hunter Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

This one had me stumped for a while, but I finally got the right angle and spotted it. Thanks!

"Flat" Bush

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I found this one after a short search. The coordinates on these caches all seem to be excellent. Thanks!

Hoodoo View

By: Cache_Monkey Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was my first trip to Ft. Ord, and I spent most of the day on my bike, or off my bike, pushing it. Thanks for the cache!

Bonquee

By: Cache_Monkey Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

My second Ft. Ord cache. I came down to spend the day here biking and hiking. Thanks!

Gopher Junction

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I considered moving the red Jeep travel bug, but I have already found one, and I wasn't in a record-keeping mood today so I left it. Thanks!

Creekside Trail Mossy Oak

By: Koolrat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I headed up here with my bike, found a couple caches, then back to my car for my trail map and cache map, then started out on the paved road. Thanks!

Manzanita East Pinnacles

By: el Jim Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Large

It was about noon when we got here and the weather was a tad on the warm side. We found the cache fairly quickly (due to its size, and being somewhat exposed). I went the last 10 feet to make the retrieval. Thanks!

BIG BIRD Ranch

By: ynots4 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The family was camped at Sunset Beach this weekend. I got up before everyone else and took a bike ride over here. The old Shell Rd connects up with the beach parking lot at Sunset, but it is an overgrown one-track in places, that probably isn't very passable in wet weather. It was fine for my bike today, though. No problem finding the cache. Thanks!

Manzanita Gate

By: el Jim Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I got my son Kevin and girlfriend Tanya to come out for some geocaching this morning. This was our first stop. The cache was well stocked with goodies, but we didn't have much to trade. Thanks!

Joe Lloyd Field

By: el Jim Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Tanya had the GPSr, and she was also the first to spot this one. Thanks!

"Home Team"

By: HotRod62 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

The GPSr initially had us looking in the wrong spots for this one, but we finally got to the right area and found the well-hidden cache. Thanks!

Manzanita Fountain

By: el Jim Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

We appreciated the hint on this one. Tanya dove in and made the find.
