Hidden Beach Park and View

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This is a nice spot that I hadn't visited before. I sure didn't see a cache, though.

Seacliff State Beach

By: 50sumtin & Pink Static Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We hauled our trailer over today for a long Labor Day weekend at Seacliff. I hopped on my bike and zipped down the street for a couple caches this afternoon. Thanks!

Posted

By: glindakc Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

After parking our trailer at Seacliff, I hopped on my bike and did a couple caches. This was the second stop. Thanks!

Pimiento

By: WRITE SHOP ROBERT Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was a quick swipe of the hand since we had just found the other cache with the identical hide. The yellow jackets turned up in force a few moments later, but must have had something else on their minds since they didn't bother us.

Olive

By: Quetzalteco Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I made a quick swipe with my hand, but missed it since the attachment mechanism is gone. A second inspection by dclendenin turned up the cache. Thanks!

don't miss the boat

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

We were getting a little concerned about missing the boat, and were headed back to the cove. We guessed the right spot, and made quick work of this one.

Point Campbell

By: rosmo Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

While I was hugging and inspecting the tree, dclendenin spotted the cache first for the second time in a row. Thanks!

love shack

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was our second stop on a short hike before a tram ride and lunch at our company picnic.

my style

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Not chosen

My company picnic was here today. A co-worker and I set out for a few caches, and this was the first. He spotted the cache, and I made the retrieval since I had better tread on my shoes. The placement no doubt could be improved to reduce erosion and to keep old guys like us from hurting ourselves.

Start or End Here

By: momagna with kdcool919 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Thanks for placing the regular sized cache here. We found seven caches today, and this was the first non-micro. I left the GoNavyGo travel bug that I picked up in New Jersey, and left Bytemobile turtle #325.

It's not even an island!

By: Wanderings (Adopted by Arrow One) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This is a nice cache along a nice path. The jet skiiers were out in force today, though, raising a noisy ruckus. I don't know if it was out here or not, but I found a couple ticks on my legs when I got back to my room after a couple hikes today. I left Bytemobile turtle #322. Thanks!

Flint1's first cache

By: flint1 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I turned a little too soon and took a sandy trail to the cache, but took a better path on the way back. I left Bytemobile turtle #324. Thanks!

I'd Walk A Mile For A Micro

By: DiscGolfer Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I'm not sure I would. However, for a small, a micro, and a regular, I definitely would. I guess the traffic on this portion of the blue trail is fairly light. I saw three deer and saw ospreys on their stands. I also probably picked up a couple ticks out here. I found the cache on the ground, and put it back where I assumed it belonged. Thanks!

Micro Island

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The coordinates are pretty good for this, and I managed to spot it without much problem. Thanks!

Toms River Micro

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Hmmm. This is the first container like this I've run into outside of California. Fortunately there don't seem to be any "blinkers" here which are tiny magnetic buttons with tiny rolled up logs.

Winding Views

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I'm on a work assignment from California again, and I took a break to find a few caches this afternoon. I thought this was a nice cache and a nice hide. It was good to see a regular sized cache so I could trade a travel bug. I took the GoNavyGo travel bug and left the Jasmine travel bug. I also left Bytemobile turtle #321. I think the ratings for both difficulty and terrain might be a tad high.

Brick Sports Hall

By: jbhall Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Wow, there is lots of room for sports fields out here. There were some games underway this afternoon. I left Bytemobile turtle #323. Thanks!

PONDER THIS

By: Expeditioners4 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I'm out from California on a work assignment. I even had to work today (Saturday), but I was able to stop here on the way back to the hotel. A couple kayakers paddled by as I was signing the log. I took nothing and signed the log. Thanks!

Harper Valley PTA

By: The Saints Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was camped at Seacliff and made a early morning cache run. Nobody was at this nice park yet, so I made quick work of the cache. Thanks!

Ponder This

By: Pearbro Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I was camped at Seacliff and making a Sunday morning cache run. I have seen this hide before, and made quick work of it. Thanks!

Rum Runner Rispin

By: G A-DayTrippers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is quite an interesting area, and deserving of a cache. There were a couple guys hanging around and yakking at the bench that is visible from the final stage. One of them came over and asked me what I was up to, and I explained geocaching to them. After I found the cache, I brought it over and showed it to them, and they were amazed.

Corcoran Lagoon Anniversary Cache

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is quite a nice area now. And lots of parking for cachers. Spotted the cache with no trouble. Thanks!

A little bird told me ...

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was my last stop this morning before heading back to camp at Seacliff. Cute!

Harbor Overlook

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I poked around a bit, then had to resort to the hint to find this one. I have been caching in this area before, so I kind of knew the lay of the land. Thanks!

635 First Hide

By: Seacliff Troll Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I've been caching in this area before, so I knew where to find a trailhead. For out-of-town cachers, it might be nice to post a trailhead waypoint. I had no trouble finding the cache after the short hike. Thanks!

Jurassic Park Virtual Cache

By: Team-Wasabi Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

I stopped by early on a Sunday morning, so I violated the parking regulations. This trail was a new one to me. The goat was staked out just beyond the cache site.

China Beach

By: ynots4 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

We are camped at Seacliff for the weekend. I headed out early for a few caches, and this was the first stop. I started from the day use area and took the trail up to the cache. Thanks!

Summer Beach Stamp

By: Chickasaw of ynots4 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We are camped at Seacliff for the weekend, and I headed north for a caching tour this morning. The directions worked out great for me, and the seating was great for signing and picking the next destination. Thanks!

Marine Science Earthcache

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

We are camped at Seacliff for the weekend, and I headed out this morning for a few caches to the north. I guess this spot is now a two-fer. I will post a picture when I get home, although I don't know who would want to see a picture of me and my GPSr.

First o' the year

By: capnjack46 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

This turned out to be much easier to find than I figured. The cache is full, so it is time for somebody to take something. Thanks!

By the Light of the Moon

By: Sgt Stitches Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I didn't read the hints, zeroed out at a sign nearby, and decided the cache was gone. As I was leaving, I checked the other nearby structure, and found the cache. Plenty of spots left for signing.

The End

By: #1 geobears Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I guess I cheated on this one. I couldn't find it and offered to check out the cache for the owners, and got some very specific info. I hopped on my bike and signed the cache in a couple minutes since I was camped a few hundred feet from it. Thanks!

Whale, you're here

By: skylanth Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I didn't take time for the tour, but did take in the views and a little salt air. Nice spot! I left Bytemobile turtle #319 and took the Jasmine travel bug.

Cisco's cache

By: capnjack46 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was parked for the other cache nearby, so I made this a two-fer. The coordinates were great, and I had no trouble with this one. Thanks!

Wharf Overlook

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We are camped at Seacliff for the weekend, and I headed out this morning. I decided to head north, and this was my first stop. Thanks!

University Terrace Treasure

By: PieMastR and Geolivia of iwikepie Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I thought the coordinates must be off because I didn't see anything to stomp, but they must be right on because I went there and stepped on some tupperware. This is certainly the first hide I have seen quite like this. Thanks!

Seacliff State Beach

By: 50sumtin & Pink Static Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

If this hide is anything like the other 50sumtin cache I did today, this one is gone.

Less of Moore

By: Pearbro Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This was my first visit to Moore. Not a bad view for a little hike up the hill. I believe I left Bytemobile turtle #320 here. Thanks!

Secret Seacliff Beach Stairway

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Today we parked our travel trailer at Seacliff and will be camping for a few days. After getting situated and getting the pets fed, I decided to hike for a couple caches. This one was pretty tough. I just exhausted the possibilities and finally came up with the cache. Opening the cache was another problem. I finally got it open by prying with a key. Thanks!

Seacliff camping

By: #1 geobears Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

The cache was probably the first thing I touched, but it was jammed so tight that I didn't think it was a cache. I gave up, went to find the Beach Stairway, then came back by here. I finally applied some serious pressure and found the cache. This is also one of our favorite camping spots. We are here for a few days with our travel trailer, watching the swarms of birds, the dolphins, and sea lions. Thanks!

Waterwheel

By: Jeffrey R. Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Virtual

This hike looked like it was a little beyond my comfort level, but I didn't have anything else to do today, so I gave it a shot. I headed out from Tuolumne Meadows Campground a little before 7 am, and set a turn-around time of 10 am. At 10 I was about 0.8 mi from the cache, so I continued on down the rocky trail. I got within 100 - 120 ft of the cache site, but didn't seriously consider crossing the river. There was a shallow area, but the flow rate was pretty high and I didn't have a safety rope. One slip or step into a hole would be fatal. Like wagga, I thought that the next falls upstream must be Waterwheel because of the big rooster-tail plumes of water shooting into the air. I was back at Glen Aulin at noon, but the store there was closed till 1 pm, so I skipped lunch, filled up my water bottles and stumbled on up the trail. I got back to the Tuolumne Campground at 3 pm, and was happy to be back because a big thunderstorm with hail and lots of rain hit at about 4 pm. Thanks for the adventure.

Dear Sportsmen

By: mrsr71 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Mrs. Bytemobile and I were hauling our travel trailer up the hill from Lee Vining to the Tuolumne Meadows campground. There was plenty of parking here, so we stopped for a break. There were trout jumping all over the place. Some fishermen we talked to said that a truck had just stocked the lake that morning, so the fish were just happy to be out and about.

Tufa Towers

By: Mc5 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

This was our first visit to Mono Lake. Several signs make visitors aware of the lake levels at different points in time. We saw several interpretive signs that were in the water, and will have to be moved to accomodate the (slowly) rising water level. Thanks!

The Ghost Town of Bodie

By: fossillady Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

You would think this was Disneyland. The parking lot was nearly full, and the place was crawling with people. Fortunately, Bodie is a pretty big place. We took the self-guided tour and peeked in a lot of windows. Was all that stuff left by the previous occupants, or hauled in by the State Park folks? Thanks!

What a View (Part Three)

By: scooterman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I headed out for an early morning bike ride from the Mono Vista RV Park, and this was my turn-around point. Great weather and great views this morning. Thanks!

On the road to Bodie

By: Snowkatt and Snowkitten Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We were camped at the RV park in Lee Vining, visited the tufas this morning, and were headed for Bodie this afternoon. We waved at the lone camper and made quick work of the cache. Thanks!

Lee Vining

By: Fallen and Uncleugene Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I headed out for an early morning bike ride from the Mono Vista RV Park, and this was the first stop. Nice little town and a great day this morning. Thanks!

Panum Panorama Revisited

By: campyc Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The cache is 0.33 mi from the parking lot, but Mrs. Bytemobile left our wings at home, so we had to take the much longer trail. Mrs. Bytemobile was surprisingly game for this hike, which is soft sand in places and rocks in other places. We thought the obsidian was especially interesting. It took us a while to find the cache in all the rocks. We decided that the cache was nearly equidistant from the two trees mentioned in the hint. We found a frog along the trail that was probably dropped by the previous finders. We put it back in the cache, along with Bytemobile turtle #318 and an information sheet on the Panum Crater.

Bodie Cache

By: The fossillady Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

There are lots of hiding places, so this one took a while to find. Mrs. Bytemobile even got out of the truck and climbed up and around to help with the search. Lots of traffic on the Bodie Road today.

Navy Beach Memorial

By: mrsr71 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was our first visit to Mono Lake, and we made a quick stop for a little history and this cache before heading to the south tufa area. Thanks!

Welcome to Bodie

By: Kickster Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The new magnetic key hider is very nice. When I saw a sign that an historical marker was coming up for Dogtown, I assumed the cache was going to be there, for a quick history fix and a cache, but the cache was in a somewhat less interesting spot. We were headed out for our first visit to Bodie. Thanks!

manram

By: manram Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

I went on an early morning cache run from our campsite at Fallen Leaf Lake. This was a fairly quick stop at a nice little beach. Thanks!

Colonial Woods/manram

By: manram Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I believe this is my first Nevada cache. I came out early, and the bank parking lot was empty, so that turned out to be a good place to park. TNLN. Thanks!

FST: Give Me Immortality Or Give Me Death

By: Dr. of Rockology maintained by NevadaWolf Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was out on an early morning cache run from our campsite at Fallen Leaf Lake. I found fairly reasonable parking for this one, and made quick work of it. Thanks!

Farewell Tahoe

By: EricNau (Owner), LooniLorin, & Bunnikris Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The autorouter on my GPSr took me to a fairly reasonable parking spot, and I could see a trail below. I found the cache quickly and left Bytemobile turtle #317. What the heck are all the piles of wood here for? They look like a bunch of big bonfires, just waiting for someone to come along with a match.

Lakeview For You

By: Adopted By SNSpencer From TahoeBerne Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

Mrs. Bytemobile and I were camped at Fallen Leaf Lake Campground for a couple nights. I got up early this morning and headed out for a few caches. This was a nice spot this morning. The early morning waterskiiers were out, including one flying on a parachute behind a boat. Thanks!

Bug drop.

Mono Vista

By: Kickster Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We were heading to Lee Vining from Lake Tahoe and pulled over to have a look. I decided to pull out the GPSr and check for caches since this seemed like a prime spot, and sure enough, the cache was 20 ft from where I was standing. Thanks!
