Granite Earth

By: TahoeCrew Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I don't think the hint matches the hide anymore. I was looking for something much harder and crawled on my belly into a sort of cave, and went around and had a look at the other end of the cave too. I finally found the much easier hide after circling around again. I left Bytemobile turtle #316. Thanks!

Don't take it for Granite

By: TahoeCrew Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

I read too much into the cache title, and was looking for the wrong sort of thing. I took a cursory look at the cache location early on, but it was a while before I revisited it and found it. Thanks!

Granite of the Apes

By: TahoeCrew Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

After we figured out where the cache must be, Mrs. Bytemobile let me retrieve it by myself. I don't believe there was a travel bug in the cache, and I don't remember seeing a geocoin. I left Bytemobile turtle #314. We looked for the boulder house, but didn't spot it. How about some coordinates??

Fallen Leaf Cache

By: Robbie's Family Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

We are camped at Fallen Leaf Lake Campground. I got up early and hiked over to find this one. I logged it about 6:30 am., then had a look at the dam and lake. Thanks!

Lucky Baldwin Virtual Cache

By: BBQ-Stain & Bullseye-Ron Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

Mrs. Bytemobile and I were camped at Fallen Leaf Lake Campground and we made this our first stop this morning. The weather was perfect, and we had a nice walk around the site. Thanks!

Full Moon Cache

By: BBQ-Stain & Bullseye-Ron Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We parked just down the hill from this one. Mrs. Bytemobile stayed in the truck and did a little knitting while I hiked up the hill. I don't think the hint exactly applies now, but the cache is reasonably well hidden. I left Bytemobile turtle #315. Thanks!

Iva-Kay Each-Bay

By: Moon Joy of Team Paulwhy Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Mrs. Bytemobile and I came over here after walking around the Tallac Historic Site this morning. We had no trouble finding the cache -- it was visible from the little trail. We didn't see any travel bug in the cache or the geocoin, but I left a travel bug and a Bytemobile turtle -- #313. Thanks!

Lexxy's Kids Kache

By: misslexxy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Our trailer was parked about 500 feet from this cache. I got up early and hiked over and made the easy find. I left Bytemobile turtle #312. Thanks!

Coloma Final Rest

By: Species5618 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I got on my bike early this morning at the Coloma Resort and rode over. I looked around a bit before I read the hint or knew it was a micro. After I read about the cache, I found it fairly quickly. I found the coordinates to be quite good. Thanks!

YFcache8

By: yfbtanky Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I hiked over from the Coloma Resort where we had our travel trailer parked. Found this without much trouble, but my socks picked up lots of burrs. Thanks!

Gold Rush Lucky

By: Species5618 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I found GCNXV7 and then saw that this was only 0.2 miles away (as the crow flies) unfortunately, this old crow doesn't fly and I had to slog up the trail. The blackberries were in season along the bottom part of the trail, and I grabbed a few. I found the cache in good shape and left Bytemobile turtle #310. Thanks!

UnionTown

By: Oldhippy & Granny adopted by TnL Crew Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

After doing the three nearby caches in Lotus, Mrs. Bytemobile drove over to this interesting spot. I was initially looking for something even smaller than what we found. The cache was in fine shape and the log was dry. Thanks!

Monroe Ridge Trail

By: Species5618 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I was surprised to see a dad up here with two young sons and a daughter on his back. They must all be good hikers. The cache was in fine shape, and I left Bytemobile turtle #311.

Pioneer / Catholic

By: jbmccarthy69 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I sort of lost the Monroe Ridge Trail when I came to the Monument. If I had been on the main trail that runs near the cache, I could have avoided most of the poison oak, but you have to step on some of it to reach the cache. Otherwise, it was a nice cache. Thanks!

LotusLand 2

By: Scoobert Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Mrs. Bytemobile and I parked our travel trailer at the Coloma Resort and drove over to Lotus to find a few caches. We decided to pay $3 and park in the lot since I could amortize that over three caches. We had a nice little hike down along the river and found the cache with no problem. I left Bytemobile turtle #307.

LotusLand

By: Scoobert Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The rafters were colorful and interesting to watch as we hiked along the river. Mrs. B had the GPSr and spotted this one quickly. I left Bytemobile turtle #308. Thanks!

LotusLand 3

By: Scoobert Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

It was pretty toasty this afternoon, so Mrs. Bytemobile waited in the shade while I did the math and punched in coordinates. The cache was in fine shape and I left turtle #309. Thanks!

Where the Eagles Play

By: SuperGeek and OliveOyl Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I stopped by on my way to Double Trouble. I was initially heading for a larger nearby structure, but my GPSr said I was walking right past the cache, and sure enough, there it was. Thanks!

Egg Trilogy #5

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had a look around for the cache before reading the hint, and I missed it. After reading the hint, I found it right away, so I appreciated the help. Thanks!

Cat & Dog Hotel

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I am on a business trip from Calif. and took the day off for a little caching. This was the first stop, a little before 8 am. The woods were wet, and it reminded me of a hike through the rain forest in Costa Rica, only without the Howler Monkeys. I took the SamFlea travel bug and left Bytemobile turtle #304.

Egg Trilogy #3

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was an easy egg. It was exposed and open. I dried off the two coins and the inside of the egg. The log was still dry in its baggie. I placed a little bark over the egg so it wasn't exposed.

Egg Trilogy #6

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Since a pickup passed me on the road, I figured there was an easier way in, but I hiked over from the Double Trouble main entrance. The hint provides less information than a GPSr, but fortunately the coordinates were spot-on, and you have a good view of the sky here. Thanks!

Dubloons of Winding River

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I wasn't looking for something quite that small here, so I assumed it was trash on the first pass, but I found it soon enough. Thanks!

Egg Trilogy #2

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I was planning to do some hiking at Double Trouble this morning, and stopped here first for my first egg find. Thanks!

Trouble In The Pines

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

It was nice to find a big ammo box. I left the SamFlea travel bug. I noticed that the White Plane TB is also headed south, so maybe they can travel together for a while. I also left Bytemobile turtle #306.

Keychain Cache

By: Arrow One Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

There was a flotilla of boys in canoes headed across the lake and up the river as I headed for this cache. No problems finding it. I left Bytemobile turtle #305 and took the Arrow One sigitem. Thanks!

Morning Romp

By: iragreenberg Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was my only cache of the day and my only Pennsylvania cache. I was busy with work-related stuff, and this cache was only a mile or so out of my way. I left Bytemobile turtle #303 and the Bully travel bug. This travel bug is on a race that originated in California. This is its first state outside of California and it needs to visit four more states before heading for the finish line in the UK. This was a nice place to see a little bit of PA. Thanks!

1st NJ Son of a Mother

By: CelestialDolphin & PixyGirl Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I searched for this with a co-worker who had not been caching before. We wandered around a bit before finding it and I evidently picked up a tick, since I found one crawling up my arm an hour or two later. We saw the travel bug, but left it and just signed the log. I'm here on business and hoped to get out for a little more caching this weekend. Thanks!

Dam,Rock,Temple

By: friendly four from felton Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

After the Roaring Camp event, I parked along Highway 9 and had a go at this one. I got good GPS reception, and a zero point very close to the cache. I spotted it after a short search. There was sand caked on the outside of the cache, so I guess there was water this high at some point. The log was completely soaked and turning into mush with a little mildew. I left a new log in a new baggie. Thanks!

the cache of roaring camp

By: David, Noelle and Reggie Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I tried to find this at last year's Roaring Camp event and failed. This year I talked to someone who had found it previously, and gave it another go. I don't think his hints matched the hide location exactly, but I was able to find the cache anyway. I left Bytemobile turtle #300.

What Happened to the Bridge?

By: MAMoran (maintained by Iron Chef) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

I was doing a little pre-event caching this morning. I parked next to someone who was checking his GPSr, and I met el Jim. We hiked to the cache site together. I had a zero point that was fairly close, and we made quick work of this old cache. I left Bytemobile turtle #297.

Meditation Cache

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I searched for this many months ago before there was a hint. It turns out that my previous search was too closely centered on the meditation site. I found the cache today without much trouble. I left Bytemobile turtle #301. Thanks!

Brother, can you spare some cache?

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I missed this some months back. Today I had good GPS reception, and spotted the camo without much trouble, before I had to resort to the hints. I left Bytemobile turtle #302. Thanks!

Secret Trail Head: Ox Parking

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I got a zero along the trail, and was able to spot the cache site fairly quickly. However, the cache is now inaccessible. I tried to fix things, but failed. I have e-mailed the details to the owner. Sorry!

Stump Cache

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I was out doing a little pre-event caching this morning. I found the right path and went up a ways, and stood contemplating whether to leave the path. My GPSr, which was reading over 100 feet from the cache suddenly beeped and said I was arriving at the cache site. I looked around, and sure enough, the second stump I examined had the cache. I left Bytemobile turtle #299.

241HT3567

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

By the looks of the log lots of folks stopped by before the Roaring Camp event. I stopped by on the way home. No problem finding the cache. Thanks!

Post Pigs Beware #2

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

Since the two traps have been out here over a year, unused, I think they are just in long term storage mode. The GPS reception was good enough here that I was able to find the cache without the hint.

Forget Your Pen? (!P.O. Warning!)

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I have gotten pretty good at spotting PO over the last couple years. I don't remember any in the immediate area of the cache, but I didn't realize that a site survey was wanted. I was happy for the hint. I had a look around before reading it, but the cache was well concealed.

Pineapple

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

Cute! This is my kind of cache -- a good excuse to take a break along a pretty tough trail.

Oil Creek Gulch

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was at the trailhead before 8 am, but it was already getting warm out here. There were still some fog in some of the valleys below. Thanks!

Check for Ticks

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

9:50 am - The silence was deafening here this morning, and the light beneath the trees was relatively dim, even though it was a clear day. My GPSr took me about 50 feet too far, so I was happy for the hint. This was the turn-around point for my hike back to Long Ridge, so when the roar of the mosquitos started up, I was on my way. I left turtle #296.

Ranch Springs

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

This has been on my to-do list for a while. My GPSr got me pretty close, but I eventually looked at the hint and found the cache soon after. Thanks!

County Confluence

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I made a quick stop here after a hike at Long Ridge. Thanks!

My bark is worse than your byte...mobile

By: Lil Devil Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I got a taste of my own medicine with this cache. The poor reception led me about 300 feet past the cache before my GPSr changed its mind. I came up with the cache fairly quickly though, spotting something that normally takes a while for me. I left Bytemobile turtle #293. Thanks!

Clover Forest

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I came to Portola this morning to do some cache maintenance and grab a few caches that have accumulated over the past year. I got a little taste of my own medicine here. My GPSr lost lock about .17 mi from the cache, then re-locked when I was about 400 feet past it. I started counting paces and read the description and hint. I was actually surprised when I reached in and felt the cache since I thought the stump was too high for the hint. After I replaced the cache, my GPSr beeped. It had re-gained lock and said I was 80 ft from the cache, which means the coordinates are probably pretty good. The clover and creek were all very nice this morning. Thanks!

Portola Drive Up

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I came over for some cache maintenance and a few caches this morning. This was my first stop, after I parked a short distance away. Thanks!

Redneck Bellagio

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I came over for some cache maintenance and a few caches this morning. I guess the Bellagio's have varied business interests. I had a look around, then when I heard the mosquitos revving up their engines, I had a look at the hint and found the cache. Thanks!

Knocker Tree

By: Jackcheese and Motlah Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Micro

We were camped at Lake Nacimiento Resort for the weekend and rented a ski boat for some skiing and wakeboarding. This was our first stop after lunch, and it didn't take long. I jumped out of the boat, and was handed the GPSr and pen once I had my footing. It looked like I was about the fourth to sign the log.

Hanging Chad

By: closeenough Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Mrs. Bytemobile found this one. I was checking my GPSr, which said I wasn't very close, but it was a quick find anyway. Thanks!

One Touch Ultra

By: closeenough Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Finally! First Paso find after four DNFs in a row today. Thanks!

Tub O' Toys near H2O

By: Team Cheddar w/ Da Millers Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

We stopped by for this one on our way back to our campsite at Lake Nacimiento Resort. The teddy bear had pushed the top off of the tub, but I shoved him back in. Not much worry about rain this time of year anyway. I didn't spot a log, so I left a new one.
