Big Hihney Cache

By: Chickasaw Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was the second stop on a loop hike from park headquarters. I don't remember seeing a travel bug. I left Bytemobile turtle #283.

Emily

By: The Saints Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I finished my Big Basin hikes, and decided to do a few in Boulder Creek before heading home. I found part of the cache where it should have been, but the log and other half of the cache were on the ground. I signed and put it back together like it should have been.

Fawn Memories

By: The Saints with Daisy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

After signing the cache, I wandered into the museum. The volunteer was happy to see me and made sure that I signed the register. I was his only customer in two days, and it was about an hour before closing. The exhibits were well done and interesting. Thanks!

Janet, I Love You

By: The Saints Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Several folks were down by the river today. I used the hint and went straight for the cache. Thanks!

Conjunction Junction What's Your Function?

By: The Saints Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

The park was busy this afternoon, with folks enjoying the river. I had no idea that there were swimming holes in Boulder Creek. Thanks!

Forecast

By: bctom Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This is a great spot for a cache. It was absolutely quiet this morning. I think coordinates for parking would be helpful, so people don't make dangerous U-turns trying to find the right turn-out.

Eagle Fire

By: Team Crush (adopted by 50sumtin) Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

This was a warm hike today, with no breeze what so ever and lots of flies on the trail. I began to worry about my coordinates about 3/4 of the way to the top, and was wishing I had verified them with the owner before setting out on this trek. I got the coordinates over a year ago, on a rainy day drive with a friend. Today I did a long loop hike at Big Basin before starting this one, so I was buzzard bait by the time I made it to the cache. No problem finding it. I left Bytemobile turtle #285 and took an Airplane Journal card. Thanks!

Spur of the Moment 1

By: Calikat Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was my first stop this morning on a geocaching trip to Big Basin. The coordinates are on the wrong side of the road, so I recommend the letterbox instructions, but maybe count steps instead of paces.

Old Growth Cache

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had a look for this before my hike, but couldn't come up with it. After the hike, there were lots more people around. I rested there a bit, and figured out where it must be. I touched it, waited for an opportune moment and made the grab. Thanks!

Big Basin Cache

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This cache was quite close to my turning point on a loop hike from headquarters. I left Bytemobile turtle #284. Thanks!

CaCaCamp CuCuCutter Road

By: richchips Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was headed to Big Basin this morning, and made a little detour for this cache. The road was busy this morning -- must be lots of scouts up here. I left Bytemobile turtle #282.

Connector Cache

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I did a loop hike from park headquarters today, and this was the first stop. No problem with this one. Thanks!

FF2 - Pulgas de Mayo?

By: FidgetyFeet Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had time for a few caches late this afternoon, and this was fairly close by. No problem with this one. Thanks!

Monkey's Lair

By: ppp06059 (maintained by xmts) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

This is a nice spot for a cache -- lots of parking and not a lot of people around. I found time to do a few nearby caches late this afternoon, and this one fit the bill. Thanks!

Blue Hills Memories

By: Gitonyerhorse Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was my closest to home unfound traditional cache. The nearby building was where we submitted an offer to buy our house some 23 years ago. I was expecting this to be a tough one, but the coordinates were great for me, and I got the right angle on the cache.

West Pond

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was out doing maintenance on Baylands Teamwork (GCTGZQ) today. I picked up a Team Alamo Obsessed geocoin, and dropped a yellow Jeep travel bug. It turns out that the coin I picked up, TBY2M6, is a different coin than the one listed here, TBY71J.

Menlo Circus

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by andrewclan Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I guess I was lucky, because there was a polo match in progress. It looks like quite a workout for both horse and rider. This was my first view of the Menlo Circus Club, although I had heard about it about 25 years ago when my second cousin was working there. Thanks!

Historic Palo Alto 2

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Seems like it has been nearly a couple years since I did the first couple stages of this cache. I made a caching swing through Palo Alto and Menlo Park today, and this cache was a nice break from some of the less interesting stuff. I found and logged the bonus cache, and it was quite a surprise. Thanks!

The Loner Cache (2.0)

By: InternationalCacher and Freddy and Mertz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

The coodinates seem to be fine. The cache was the first thing I looked at. Thanks!

Duck Dock Redux

By: Shores Scout Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

First to sign the replacement log. The area sure looks different from the photos -- all the grass is brown and a lot of it has been mowed. Thanks!

Shred it, Dude!

By: dr_dolittle_rwc Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is quite a nice park. I stopped by to used the facilities, then hiked over for the cache. This is a pretty reasonable hide. Thanks!

Joker

By: musicguy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Yes, the cache is still there and in fine shape. I think the coordinates point to the chopped down ivy. I like the alternate coordinates better.

Itsae ucan dits ab igone

By: homermayor Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

This was the first stop on a Father's Day caching swing through Palo Alto and Menlo Park. I circled a couple times, looked high and low, and finally spotted the cache. Thanks!

c.f.m

By: c.f.m Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This took me a while to find. I finally used Motorbug's log as a hint and started poking around. Thanks!

She Sells Sea Shells

By: dr_dolittle_rwc Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Took a little Father's Day hike for three caches in the park today. This was the last. Thanks!

Booked!

By: TimberToo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was a very peaceful and quiet spot this morning. The book I read most recently was "Big Bang" by Simon Singh.

Cornelis Bol Park Booty

By: ms piglet Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I stopped by once before a few months ago, but did not search because the playground was so busy. This Sunday morning turned out to be the right time for a quick find. Thanks!

Somewhere in Palo Alto

By: catomcat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

Well, that was a surprise. Found it after a short search. Thanks!

Greenie

By: triangulated Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The coordinates are fine, and the cache was not too hard to spot. Thanks!

I Lost My Marbles

By: DKAK Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I seem to remember searching for a cache before in this general area. Maybe it was archived. I followed the geotrail and made a quick find for this one. Thanks!

Bridge Over Troubled Water

By: matt & amy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Well it's getting to be late June and there is still some water down there. Looking in the other direction (up), that is quite a house up in the tree. Is it for birds?

Quito Puppies

By: Scorpion King Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

8:15 am - I used to walk dogs here, but the one dog we have left is 13 and has a problem walking this far. The cache looks like a very nice, durable design. I look the Jeep travel bug and left Happy-go Bullwinkle. I also left turtle #281. Thanks!

LAH Pathways: Hidden Redwoods

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I was in the area, and decided I had time for a little hike. The redwoods provided a bit of shade on this warm day.

Stevens Creek Lizardbox

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Motorbug and I were hiking up the trail in the opposite direction today, and I followed the instructions in backward order. I was surprised to see all the newts in the water, swimming around like fish. I didn't realize they spent that much time in the water.

Appreciation of OSPs

By: ed777 Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The hint led me to a fairly quick solution after finding the right reference material. Clever puzzle! The cache was well hidden. I was glad that Motorbug was with me today. His cache radar kicked in and he found it in no time.

LZW

By: trode Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I solved this one with a little C code. I was surprised at how little code was required. I thought the cache write-up was outstanding in its clarity, and it left just enough work to be done that it was interesting to solve. I arranged for a hike today with Motorbug to find a few nearby caches. We didn't see a deer trail to the cache -- the deer must be slacking on their trail maintenance. The cache site was nice spot.

Where's the BBQ?

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was my second hike of the day, and I was a little beat. The hint and my GPSr lead me in a circle around the cache site a couple times, then finally the cache title dawned on my foggy brain. I left turtle #277.

Down To Table Mountain

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I found this one quickly without the hint. I probably should have saved this for a little break on the way back. There is poison oak encroaching here and there along this trail. Fortunately, the mountain bikers (who aren't offically allowed on this trail) are beating up the longer PO branches dangling in the trail. I left turtle #276.

Virus Cache Bravo

By: Nankoweap Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was my first hike out to this area, and it was not bad. I spent nearly two hours getting here and finding three caches, but was able to hike back up and out in just over an hour. I took the Bullwinkle travel bug, Virus Bravo Five, and left Bytemobile turtle #278.

Northern CA Solar System Model: Asteroid Ceres

By: shadow101 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The parking lot was nearly full late this afternoon, with baseball games still underway. I managed to park quite close to the cache, though. I wandered a bit and almost investigated some poison oak, but found the cache well away from it. After reading on the GBA forum about what people have in their caching packs, I added a couple things to mine. One of the tools I added was just the thing I needed for a quick cache extraction here. Thanks!

Somewhere in Saratoga

By: catomcat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Nicely hidden, with a reasonable hint. I liked it!

History Loves the Shade

By: Gitonyerhorse Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I did my homeowner duties most of the day, but decided to take a late afternoon caching break. I enjoyed this cleverly put together multi. Living and caching in Saratoga, I was surprised to find an official trail that was unknown to me. I left Bytemobile turtle #273. Thanks!

Killarny Farms Oak

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This is just slightly out of my way as I head home from work. I had no trouble, but I bet there were a few drivers that wondered what I was up to.

Razor Sharp Catwalk

By: Jdieas347 and Angel827 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I used budd-rdc's coordinates, which I knew would be right on. This put me in exactly the right spot, but it still took a while to spot the little bugger.

Somewhere in Los Altos revisited.

By: catomcat Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I gave this a try some months back with no luck. Since I was coming by here, headed for the non-event at the Boardwalk, I decided to give it another shot. I don't remember having the hint before, and that helped somewhat. I found the cache in a place that I had looked before.

Lonely Bench

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I read up on this one before heading out for a lunchtime cache run, and that made this one an immediate find. Thanks!

Surplus Cache

By: Outforawalk Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I was walking by the cache when I looked at my GPSr, and whoa!, I was there. After signing, I had a look around the store for interesting cache-making material. Thanks!

Seedling

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had a little time before heading to the Boardwalk and this was my second stop. I initially headed for the wrong tree, but consulted the GPSr and had the the cache soon after. Thanks!

Going On A Long Trip?

By: airshadowshow Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I dropped off "Yankee Clipper", "Nabbers First Bug", and "NinjaBug". Nabbers First Bug is trying to make it to Lebanon, Ohio by July 4th. Ninjabug is trying to make it to New York City.

Somewhere in Los Altos

By: catomcat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was in the area for a couple other caches, so I decided to have a look for this one. I came up with it fairly quickly. Thanks!

Bus Bench Bogaloo #3

By: southbayday Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I had a little time before heading to the Boardwalk, and this was my first stop. No problem finding this one!

SURFS- UP

By: upsguy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Well, I came down this morning to do "Radio Central", but this made a nice additional stop. Thanks!

Double your pleasure, double your.......

By: pamarler Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Well, this was a nice consolation cache, anyway, since I wasn't able to complete the multi. Thanks!

Sparky's Sunset

By: pamarler Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The dog walkers were out in force this morning, but nobody else was around. This seems to be quite a nice area. Very nice multi!

The Wind Cave

By: TrailHacker and Little Albino Girl Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Not chosen

We parked out travel trailer in the Gaviota State Beach day use area for lunch, and I checked out the nearby geocaches. This one looked the most interesting. When Mrs. Bytemobile saw the GPSr say it was a mile a way, she declined, and I headed out on my own. After reading in the cache description about the easy way in being from the ocean, I looked for a way to hike up the beach, but I guess that must refer to the final approach. I got a map from the ranger and he directed me to the trail. The trail was not too bad, but at one point I was wishing for my hiking boots instead of the lighter shoes I had on. The two logs in the cache were mostly full, so I left another one and took the Yankee Clipper travel bug. Thanks!

"IHOP"

By: IGBAY OOBAY Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I thought this was great camo for the area. The previous logger did a nice job signing with a weed! Thanks!

UPSGROUND

By: upsguy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was easier than I expected. The cache was turned over and exposed. I don't think it was too far from the original hide, so I just placed it like I thought it should be. Thanks!

Cemetery Park

By: BBQ-STAIN & BULLSEYE-RON Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Mrs. Bytemobile offered to drive around Ventura while I navigated, so off we went and this was the first stop. Mrs. B also found this one, so that was another plus. Thanks!

R.I.P. 2

By: gsmx2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

We hiked across the park from the other cache. There was a group of 5 or 6 dogs enjoying the park at the time. We found the date mentioned in the hint, then found the cache. There seems to be campsite under the nearby bushes. Thanks!

Coupon cache

By: IGBAY OOBAY Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

This one took me a while to spot. I found another hiding spot about the right size that others have also tried, but it was empty. I finally ran out of possibilities and came up with the cache. Thanks!

Tool Time v.2

By: Bentbum Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I hitched my bike to an old dishwasher near the road and hiked over for this one. It isn't a slam-dunk easy cache, but I spotted it after looking around a bit. Thanks!

Shipwreck Park (Practice Your Stealth Park)

By: Sail Meerkat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

We were at the park in the middle of the day on a weekday, and the park was busy. The zip line reminded us of the one that our boys built that ended in our pool. The first stage was not visible, but some probing with long fingers finally touched it, and we were able to extract it. We left it in a more visible position. The second stage was completely exposed so we moved it uphill and concealed it a little better. Thanks!

Taking The 5th

By: upsguy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was out for an early morning bike ride from McGrath. The excellent coordinates put me right on top of this one, but it took a few minutes, and some close observation to spot it. Thanks!

"DID YOU HEAR SOMETHING?"

By: IGBAY OOBAY Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

If you are getting burned out on lamp post micros, I recommend a few caches by IGBAY OOBAY. I am definitely inspired to try something more creative up in the San Jose area. I was wishing I had Mrs. Bytemobile along for this one because I was having some trouble with the direction of the final. I finally spotted it, signed, and did a little maintenance using the tool left in the cache. Finally, I picked up an old broom I found and swept my tracks away. Thanks for the fun!
