High-Rise Neighbors

By: zapboy Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I happened upon this puzzle a few weeks ago, and enjoyed figuring it out. I finally went out at lunchtime today to find the cache. The cache location was certainly in-theme! There will be many more high-rise neighbors in a few months.

Taz's Teaser

By: redkat Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Lots of people were walking and jogging on the trail at lunchtime today, so I read the hint and made a quick find during a break in traffic. Thanks!

Coffee Anyone #2

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Parking was a major problem at this little shopping center at lunchtime today. Fortunately, the coffee drinkers were coming and going at a rapid rate, so a spot soon opened up. No problems finding the cache. Thanks!

Bus Stop

By: GR82NO Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was in the area at lunchtime today, so I made a stop here. The cache was on the ground again, so I moved it up again. Thanks!

Going On A Long Trip?

By: airshadowshow Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I stopped by at lunchtime to drop the "MMS 6th Period" travel bug.

Akebelons NEC Steps

By: southbayday Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was in the area at lunchtime, dropping a travel bug near the San Jose airport, and decided to grab a couple other caches as well. Thanks!

Distant Thunder

By: hart612 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This is my first Delaware cache. I am out from California on business, and didn't have much time for caching, but this didn't take long since I was driving right by. The mud by the road and the puddles along the way were pretty well frozen today. No problems finding the cache with the good coordinates and excellent hint. Thanks!

Foreign Currency Exchange/Depository

By: k9zues Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I am on a business trip from California, and had just enough down time this afternoon to grab this cache. The icy wind was whipping off the water and freezing my California bones as I made the little hike to the cache. The puddles along the way were pretty well frozen. I managed to spot the cache without resorting to the nice hint. I took nothing, left nothing. I think this area would be a great spot to schedule a CITO event for the local cachers. Thanks!

Urban Beach #1

By: magata Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I enjoyed caching around this area today. It is very nice. I spent a while skulking around in the landscaping before I finally spotted the camo on this one. I jotted down the numbers on the Ontario coin to log a discovery. Thanks!

Quest for the Masks

By: Eagle81 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I did most of the caches a few weeks ago and had a great time riding around the area on my bike. Today, I was driving around, and managed to find the closest spot for parking. No problems figuring out where to look for this one. Thanks for the series!

Catamaran

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This is quite a nice area. I came up for a couple puzzles, and ended up going for a few extra caches. Thanks!

As Seen From the Sky!

By: Daniel & Christina Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Cool spot for a cache. I had not spotted this on my flights into SFO. There were a couple R/C airplane enthusiasts out here today flying their planes. The lid on the plastic container is broken, so I expect the cache contents may be a little damp this winter. I took the Midvale travel bug and left Greeny the Cheetah travel bug.

Go Dogs, Go!

By: TBD & D, SUPERflamingo, and GeoBeags Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Wow, nice dog park, and full of dogs in the middle of the day. The nearby gardener probably wondered what I was up to, but I made the pickup and dropoff as quick as possible. Thanks!

look out above

By: roballoba Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The coordinates were just fine. No problems finding the cache. This is a nice area that I had not visited before. Thanks!

Fame

By: trode Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

It took me a while to work this out. I was grateful for the checksum because I fouled up a couple times. I finally got the right sentence and the right historical time. Today I planned to pick up a couple puzzles, and the final made some sense based on what I know about the cache owner. Thanks!

The Boulevard Bridge

By: brown-eyed susan Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I came up today for a couple puzzles, but was glad I was able to get around and see more of the area and grab a few more caches. My GPSr didn't zero out real close to the cache so I searched in the wrong places for a while, but I used the hint and expanded my search and came up with the nicely camo'ed cache. Thanks!

Quest for the Masks: Ga-Wahi

By: Eagle81 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I was back up in this area for a puzzle cache, and decided to have another go at this one. The tide was considerably lower than my last visit. No problems finding it this time.

TA@10K #0001: Bishops Gambit (AKA: Gun Jumper)

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

We didn't see any "trail", so we headed on over the edge. I zeroed out about 15 or 20 feet from the cache, which initially threw me off. I figured coordinates for this spot would be dead on. We searched hard, and finally spotted it, and having spotted it, didn't think it looked that hard to find.

Battery with a view

By: KDcool919 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

This is another cool spot that you can't really appreciate unless you come down here and climb around on it. We were initially stumped, then I stopped searching and read the full description, and we had it a couple minutes later. Thanks!

three wise men

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Ditto what Maverix said. It looks like a serious fence is going up here. I think number one son spotted this one first.

Rock Crusher

By: momagna Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I was happy to have both sons along on the hike today as extra searchers. Number one son got the right angle on this one and came up with the find. Thanks!

Crack Me Up

By: momagna with kdcool919 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

Number one son came up with this one while I was busy reading about the cache and checking the hint. Thanks!

Post Exchange

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I came out here for a hike with my two sons today. This was the first cache that we had to seriously search for. We looked without the hint, then read the hint, then read a few of the last logs. I finally spotted the well-cammo'ed cache and we were on our way again.

its the water

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I read the name of the cache out loud as we were walking up, and number one son had it in a flash. Thanks!

Bowling and Dollars

By: rosmo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

The hint worked out great. I spotted the landmark as we were walking up. I took the Maverix wooden nickel and left bytemobile turtle #359.

Perles Beach Approach

By: KDcool919 & Momagna Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I don't think the road is open, but we didn't know that when we headed for the cache. We hiked clockwise around the island, and for this cache, we went off road and hiked down the concrete drainage ditch. The coordinates were right on for us. I searched within inches of the well-buried cache and didn't spot it. Number one son searched the area again and came up with it. It is a rather damp spot, which will probably hasten rusting of the cache. Number one son was happy to find a bandaid in the cache to put on his heel where his shoe was rubbing.

keep your guard up

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I came out today for a hike with my two sons. Number two son was the first to spot this well-cammo'ed cache.

Yes, Fire Works

By: BKip Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

We considered trying this from below, but number two son was worried about burrs in his socks, so we went around and came down from above. We had to mount a serious search for this, and number one son found it (the second time he touched it). Thanks!

Stuart Overlook(a.k.a. "Angel Island Central")

By: WRITE SHOP ROBERT Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

The near vicinity of the cache was occupied when we walked up, so we sat on a nearby stump and started breaking out our sandwiches. Soon enough, the cache area was clear and we moved our picnic over there. Number one son found it, searching with sandwich in hand. Great views all around the bay tod ay!

Troop 333; Angels in White

By: h_mtreasurecache Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

We didn't look the description or break out the hint. We had the cache in hand before any of that was necessary. Great day for a hike here on the island.

Pt Stuart - Angel Island

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was our next-to-last cache on a clockwise hike around the island. The coordinates were good, and we found it right away. Great views from here today!

Battery not included

By: KDcool919 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

We all thought of the game of Myst as we climbed around on this structure, searching for the cache. We didn't really understand the hint until we found the cache. Very cool spot!

Stuffed Bike Cache

By: momagna Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I also searched the gutter while number two son found the cache. This was our last stop on a clockwise hike around the island. Our timing was pretty good we got to the dock with about 15 minutes to spare. We had great day out here!

Raccoon Strait

By: jeeplife Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

We hiked clockwise around the island today, and we had time for just a couple more caches before heading for the ferry. We used the hint, and that made this a piece of cake. Thanks!

peace pipe

By: cooperphoto Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I didn't have to leave the road for this one. Both sons headed up the bank and tossed down the cache while I was still reading about it. I signed, tossed it back up, and we were on our way to have a look at Drew.

Water Tank View

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I thought this was tougher than the Terrain Challenge series. I spotted the beginning of the trail to the cache easy enough, but it soon turns into a maze of animal trails headed in various directions, and you have to keep backing up and retrying different branches -- except that I hate to retrace my steps, and ended up doing a lot of bushwacking. When I saw the long poison oak branch extending across the trail, I knew I was on the right track, and had the cache in hand a few minutes later. Note to future adventurers: If it looks like you are headed for a steep cliff, heed the fortune-cookie fortune that I have kept for many years, "Try a new system or a different approach."

Rock My World

By: catomcat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I came up here for a puzzle cache, but decided to add another mile to the hike and come by here. It was a great day for hiking and a great day for views around the bay. There weren't many folks on this trail, but as I was re-hiding the cache, someone came right up the side trail that comes near the cache.

Bla'gard's Ruse 5 - Lime Rock Cascade

By: OGBO Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I had come up the Rhus Ridge Trail to Rancho for a couple other caches, and decided sort of spur-of-the-moment to hike on up here for a second try at this cache. I didn't watch the distance on my GPSr because I knew it would just discourage me, but I kept hoping that the Lime Rock Cascade would be just around the next corner as I hiked on up. The cache was still not the first object that I picked up and examined. It was partially covered with leaves and didn't really stand out, but I did finally spot it. The views around the bay were just tremendous up here today. Thanks!

Los Altos Hills Minefield

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I didn't do very well solving this. My solution didn't look good in Google Earth, so I just picked a spot where I thought I remembered the trailhead to be and that worked out great for a drive-by. This is not my game, but both of my sons love it and are out on a course today.

LAH Pathways: Find the Trailhead

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

When I was out and about yesterday, my habit of lifting up fence caps paid off with a big hint for this puzzle. I believe I have cached in this area before because everything looked familiar. The camo is great, but no problems finding it. Thanks!

LAH Pathways: Deer Creek

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I was on a puzzle mission this morning, but this qualifies as one since parking is not obvious unless you have a map of the paths. Very cool old building!

Arastradero Trail Turnaround

By: Changes in Latitudes Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This cache was not in my plan this morning, but I was driving right by here and decided to stop. I thought the nearby cell tower had some of the best camo that I have seen. It blends right in. Thanks!

LAH Pathways: Where's Fran?

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had a little time before the family got up and going this morning, so I headed out for a few caches. I wish Los Altos Hills would post a map of the paths on their site. I ended up hiking the length of the path, which is not a long hike. Thanks!

LAH Pathways: Hidden Valley

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I looked for this last spring. It turns out that my coordinates, derived from triangulating from the other caches were pretty good, but I decided at the time that the location did not look promising. Today, I stopped by a cache and looked at the lid to get the exact coordinates, and followed the deer trail to the cache. I left a popular swag item that originated in the city of Linz, and Bytemobile turtle #357.

Turtle Soup

By: trode Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

It took me a while to get started on this (hint: solve the cipher). After that, I knew exactly what to do, and found a little online help to automate the process. I headed out early this morning, and found the cool container. Great puzzle!

Time spent near the Ford-Temple bike path will...

By: Scorpion King Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is in the neighborhood, so I checked out the listing this morning. I stopped by on my way home without GPSr. I just left the truck running while I signed. Thanks!

SHOEFLY'S 7TH HOME

By: ingmccleary Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I stopped by this nice park at lunchtime today. No problems finding the cache. I left Bytemobile turtle #356. Thanks!

You're a Pepper?

By: BuckyDef Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not. I spotted this one as I walked up this morning, signed, and was on my way in a couple minutes.

End of the road

By: mom2sage Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Gee, it looks like this was a busy spot today. This was my last stop of the day before heading home. Interesting old structure here. Thanks!

Anchors Aweigh

By: crawburr Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

When I was in fourth grade I convinced my mom that I was too busy for piano and that the money for lessons was being wasted on me. Based on my performance at recitals, I think she had to agree. Still, I retained enough to get started on this, and after a couple tries I had what looked like good coordinates in Google Earth. I was out early on this foggy morning and the area was a little spooky. It took me a while to find the cache, but I had confidence in my solution, and kept at it until I had found a plastic bat, a plastic egg, and finally the cache.

Salty Cache

By: MaxEntropy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I found Pepper nearby, so I really didn't need Salt, but I came anyway. This turned out to be an interesting cache in an interesting spot. The nearby benchmark that Nazgul pointed out is apparently also a cell tower. I took nothing and left Bytemobile turtle #355.

Shady Coyotes

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I stopped by on a late afternoon bike ride. I spent about 10 or 15 minutes here, then gave it up and rode on.

Vladimir has been kidnapped!

By: fulmar2 Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I came by once before at lunchtime, and could see that someone was right by the cache, so I kept rolling. This morning, I got a very early start. There was lots of fog, and it was still dark, so the place looked like a good spot for a spy's dead drop. No problems finding the cache. Thanks!

Coyote Creek Hill

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is the kind of hill I can ride up. In fact, I passed another rider. However, there are plenty of times that I am pushing my bike up a hill. Thanks!

Bailey's Crossing

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The first surprise was that I left the PDA in the car so I couldn't read about the cache. Next, I looked in the right spot, but missed seeing the cache. Then I found a surprise, and it led me back to the cache. Thanks!

MTF

By: trode Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I'm not normally up in this area in the morning, but I was on a mission. I grabbed the cache while it was still dark and foggy. My solution involved Microsoft Visual Studio and a little C program. Thanks!

Coyote Creek Pool

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I headed out for an afternoon bike ride, and this was the first stop. It is a nice spot, right along the river.

Rust in Peace

By: bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I headed out for a late afternoon caching bike ride, and this was my turn-around point. No problems spotting the cache, even without the hint. Thanks!

Bailey's Oak

By: sloigo adopted by Seek2FindMe 6/8/2010 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I parked nearby for a little bike ride, then after I figured out where this must be, I rode on out and found it. Thanks!

The Calzone Cache

By: cowswithguns9119 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

This cache is within a couple miles of home, but I have managed to ignore it until this morning. I came by fairly early, so I had no problems finding it and signing. Thanks!

Nov 18, 2006

Former Ford Assembly Plant

By: bykenut Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I came by early on a Saturday morning, so I wasn't able to see any of the vintage autos. No problems finding the cache. Thanks!

Evergreen Sikh Temple

By: RiterH Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small

I have been by here a few times on the way to Grant Ranch County Park, but didn't really know exactly what it was. No problems finding the cache. Thanks!

Shadow of the Tower

By: cc Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I was on a deadline, so I was a little panicked about finding it quickly, but it all worked out. The coordinates were great and I spotted it right away. I left Bytemobile turtle #354.

Cheechoo Cache

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The keyword "lunchtime" in the cache description made this a target of mine this morning. It was the first stop for me, and I had no problems with trail traffic.

Mrs. Kelley's Orchard

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

It seems like you are out in the middle of the country here if you ignore the nearby apartments or condos. The cache was quite easy to spot, but will probably be less so as everything turns green. Thanks!

Nov 17, 2006

A View for Shamar

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I agree that this is a great spot for a cache. The view this morning was like that out of an airplane window -- a clear view of mountain peaks across the bay, with solid cloud cover below. Things were changing as I left -- the fog and low clouds were moving in.

Maxi-Blinker

By: sammydee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I was expecting something like a roadwork hazard blinker, but it really was a micro. I spotted it fairly quickly after reading the hint.

ES06 El Sereno OSP Thefogheads Secret Trailhead #1

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

It was quite serene up here at 8 am this morning. I took longer than I should have to find the cache because I believed what my GPSr said before it had time to settle. I spotted the hide right away when I finally got to the right spot.

Lofty Lady

By: MamaBe & CTomGeo (adopted by halhal) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had not noticed the lady before. I suppose she was put up on a whim by the property owners. No problems finding the cache.

TC-A Road Less Traveled

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I have also enjoyed popeye2 caches, and of course, I have been a steady customer of CKayaks caches. I managed to find the trail turnoff without any pre-hike planning. It was very quiet down here this morning, especially with the fog. I left Bytemobile turtle #353.

Just A Little More Temptation

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Not chosen

Yeah, the additional caches brought me out here again. It was my fourth trip to El Sereno, and second from the Sheldon Road trailhead. This time there was a total of six caches for me to find.

GC Rules!

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My GPSr was at least 50 feet from zeroing out, but the hint made this one easy enough to find. I had never been up in this area before. I followed the California Native Plant trail, and ended up in the right spot.

Only Shade Around

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

I was wishing for some shade as I hiked up to the cache. I left my hat in the car since it was so overcast and foggy. However, the fog moved in as I headed down, and couldn't see over a few hundred yards.

Not A Thru Road

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

This was a foggy hike all the way down and back up. Also quite serene -- just me and the bunnies. I saw only one person all morning, and he was biking.

Rolling Hills 4-H

By: Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had never walked back here before and didn't realize 4-H was here. Nobody was around this morning, so I had no problem searching. The coordinates were right on for me, but it still took a while to come up with it.

No Cache Here?!

By: dr.dolittle & faith Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

It was very quiet here today. I looked in the wrong place first, but it didn't take long to figure out where the right place was. Thanks!

McClellan Ranch Park

By: Sharkz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I decided to do a cache run through Stevens Creek Park, and this was the first stop on my way. No problems with this one. Thanks!

Return to Nob Hill

By: stbk Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I don't think I made it up and down as fast as bullit, but I did come to a nearby trailhead and had a short hike. The views were unlimited today, up and down the bay, and across the valley. Thanks!

Where did all the water go?

By: Mystery Ink Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

This cache turned out to be much easier than I thought it might be. I passed a huge line of hikers coming down the trail. I passed the cache as the last of the stragglers came by. I didn't spot anything on the first pass, but after I turned and came by again, it was a quick find. Thanks!

Alien Traveler II "Got Stuck"

This is one of several hikes I did today to clean out caches in Stevens Creek that popped up since my last visit. I thought the space ship was great! I left the Geofamily geocoin.

This morning I was going after the caches that had popped up in Stevens Creek since my last visit. The view was unlimited up here -- Mount Diablo, the valley, and a nice view of the quarry operation. I took the Geofamily coin and left the PNG travel bug.

Little Cache of Horrors III

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

After finding "Little Cache of Horrors", I decided to give this one a shot as well. I thought this one was harder to open than it was to find, but I finally managed.

Lost in the Woods

By: Mystery Ink (adopted by Workerofwood) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I came by after the Bald Mountain CITO and found "Little Cache of Horrors" and "Little Cache of Horrors III", so I thought I might as well give this one a shot. I don't think anyone was home, and I found it quickly. Thanks!

Little Cache of Horrors

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I stopped by after the Bald Mountain CITO event. I stopped here once before, but the area was busy with a service truck or something, so I didn't look very hard. Today, I walked back and forth, waited for the GPSr to settle, and decided where along the sidewalk it must be. I had a good look, and there it was. Thanks!

Bald Mountain Shampoo

By: Vaudesir Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

I started out with a hike over to the mountain and picked up a bag of trash. The real motherlode of trash was close to the road though, and I spent the rest of my time there. Great turnout! Thanks for organizing this.

Learning to Fly

By: Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Very nice cache write-up, and the cache worked out well too. I didn't notice the trailhead on the way to the parking spot, and I would have started in the wrong direction if not for the trailhead waypoint. I stopped by here after the Bald Mountain CITO event. It took me a few minutes to find the cache since I didn't zero out real close, but the hint helped me zero in. I took the PNG Dog Tag travel bug and left a CKayak's Georgia Micro Geocoin.

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was out for a little shopping trip this afternoon, and this showed up as a close-by cache. My GPSr said I wasn't very close, but the cache title and hint said I was, so I looked around a little and spotted the cache.

Cowell Ranch Beach

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Whimsical Wonders (HMB)

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

DougMoi and I dropped off our wives at the Johnston Holiday House to do a little shopping for holiday gifts and decorations. Doug and I went for a little caching hike, then still had some extra time, so we took the shuttle bus up the hill and made the short walk to the cache. I drew an alligator-dolphin that combined the speed and agility of a dolphin with the biting power of an alligator.

Ask Mr Whyte

By: vaccine Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

DougMoi and I came by after dropping our wives at the yarn shop downtown. I thought I knew where the cache would be hidden from my last visit, and indeed it was there. First to sign on replacement log. Thanks for the puzzle, and the maintenance run!

A Railroad Ran Through It

By: PurplePeople Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This one took us a while, but we had some time to kill after dropping our wives at the Johnston Holiday House. After checking the obvious places, I re-read the cache description and logs and figured out we were looking for a micro. DougMoi missed it by inches on the first pass, and I spotted it after a more thorough inspection.

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I spent the morning at the other end of Garin/Dry Creek, had lunch, and started here. Found this one in the first place I looked. Thanks!

WWicky #4

By: CompuCash Difficulty: 4.5 Terrain: 4.5 Container: Regular

I wouldn't call it a dear trail, I would call it a darn trail, or no trail. I skied down the muddy slope from WWicky #3, found a crossing point, and headed up the other side. A hint! The owner must actually want people to find this. The hint was not necessary for me, as I practically ran into the cache with my head down as I worked my way up the hill. Interesting setup, and still functional.

WWicky #5

By: CompuCash Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

The coordinates worked well for me, and I spotted this one right away. Thanks!

Tamarack Gate

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I parked near here a little before 8 am. This was my first visit to this park. I looked around a bit for the cache, then read the hint and found it. Thanks!

Nefertiti's Pyramid

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I erected the pyramid with no problem from my copious notes. I then followed the further directions to the final. I was very glad I had a compass along, because that was key to finding the cache. I can see how someone might DNF this with an approximate bearing or projecting a waypoint with a GPSr (using true north instead of magnetic north). It took me a while to spot the cache since it was not a "typical" hide. The cache was chock full of goodies. I took the motogrrl coin and moved it up to United 615. I left crawburr's New Jersey geocoin. I also left Bytemobile turtle #350. Thanks for setting up this cool cache. I had a great time doing it today.

Nefertiti's Pyramid: Throne

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The coordinates were close, but not right on for me. I looked around and spotted it after a short search. I made my notes and headed for the final.

Nefertiti's Pyramid: Underworld

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Another hiker passed by on the trail as I was signing and making my notes. I doubt if he noticed me since I was deep in the underworld here. I decided to continue on up the trail from here to find Igor, since it is a very old cache.

Shrine

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

It was a cool day for hiking, but everything was wet, and it was easy to pick up mud on my boots. I found the cache after a short search and didn't need the hints.

Nefertiti's Pyramid: Viper

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

It looks like there was some recent log sawing here, but the cache was safe in its cubbyhole. I made my notes, then headed out, trying to avoid the mud nearby.

Nefertiti's Pyramid: Offerings

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

There was a huge flock of wild turkeys near the cache, and they slowly gave way as I hiked up the road. I found the cache quickly and continued on my quest.

Nefertiti's Pyramid: King Tut

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was a quick find, without using the hints. I made liberal use of the Purell in the cache since my hands were filthy, mostly from my trek for Igor.

WWicky #2

By: CompuCash Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

I came here from WWicky #1. I wandered off trail a bit, found a pile of sticks that was probably a woodrat house, then read the description and searched closer to the trail. So far in this series, my GPSr hasn't gotten me much closer than 30 ft.

WWicky #1

By: CompuCash Difficulty: 4.5 Terrain: 4.5 Container: Regular

I spent the morning at the other end of Garin/Dry Creek, then had lunch and drove over here. I had a trail map with the caches plotted by ExpertGPS. I thought the map calibration might be off since the caches seemed to be offset from the trail. When I started hiking, though, the map turned out to be fairly accurate. I spotted a little trail that seemed to be going t he way I wanted to go, and ended up here at WWicky #1. I looked around a bit, then stopped and read the cache description and a few logs off my PDA. Like the previous finder, crawling on the dirt, now moistened with some rain didn't make any difference since I was already muddy. Nice camo job.

Nefertiti's Pyramid: Royal Gates

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I parked by the Tamarack gate, so this was my first cache of the series. I headed for a couple dead ends before I made it here. Advice: stick to the wide paths. The coordinates were right on for me, and I found the cache without resorting to the hint.

Creek View

By: CompuCash Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

My GPSr wasn't real sure where the cache was, so I wandered a bit and went up and down the steep, muddy bank before I spotted a good hiding place and the cache. Thanks!

Top of the World

By: CompuCash Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small

The view was somewhat impaired today with low clouds. The San Mateo Bridge disappeared less than half way across. No problem finding the cache. I spotted it as I was hiking up. Thanks!

Fungus Humungus

By: CompuCash Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small

I came from WWicky #5, and found the path to the cache with no problem. I wonder what the temporary AC power to the nearby breaker box was for.

WWicky #3

By: CompuCash Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 4.5 Container: Regular

I came here from WWicky #2. This time, the area to search was pretty clear, and I came up with the cache after taking time to read the previous logs off my PDA. Thanks!

Trail View Cache

By: CompuCash Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

This was the last cache of the day for me. My GPSr got confused down by the muddy crossing under the trees. I finally got out where I got a better fix, and made a mountain goat climb to the cache. I sure didn't see an easy way down, and made like a mountain goat again. Thanks for a nice adventure, and lots of caches today!

LeChuck's Cursed Treasure

By: LeChuck Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I had just built Nefertiti's Pyramid and found her cache, so I decided to trudge on up the trail and try my luck at another treasure. I looked around a bit, then stopped and read the cache description and a few logs before doing any climbing. It turned out that I picked a good spot to look after I finished reading and spotted the cache. I took the Biker Chick sigitem and left Bytemobile turtle #315.

Cars? In Trees?

By: UPSgirl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I had reached my time to head for the car, and head for home and a shower, but this was just about 0.1 mi away. I hate to miss a good car wreck, anyway. I reached the cache site and was about to pull out the PDA to look for a hint when I spotted the cache. I appreciated having a quick find here. Thanks!

Igor

By: Mike Hildum Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

Looks like Igor has shrunk a bit since his early days. There was some rain last night and a little this morning, so the climb up to the cache was a bit treacherous. I managed to fall on my butt at least once. I left Bytemobile turtle #348.

United 615

By: The TEMS Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I built Nefertiti's Pyramid and found LeChuck's treasure, and it was still before noon, so I decided to trudge on up the hill. The rain made the trails a bit muddy in spots, and the view was somewhat impaired, but I could still see quite a lot up here. I left a motogrrl Memorial Geocoin and Bytemobile turtle #352. Thanks for putting this up here, and thanks for the maintenance visit as well.

Above Los Gatos

By: ProTechCC Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I have been meaning to find this cache for ages, but I couldn't justify a long hike for just one cache. So today I did a long hike for two caches -- this and Angel Island Warmup. I left Bytemobile turtle #346 and took the Coralgeo keyring.

Tribute to Julia Child

Angel Island Warm Up.

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I am quite sure this deserves a difficulty higher than one. The cache is well concealed, and it's not in one of the obvious places. Hint: You don't have to dig very deep, and it hasn't fallen down inside somewhere.

Belgatos Parking

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

There was a large group activity here involving medieval-looking costumes and swords and such. There were racks and boxes of costumes arrayed under a tree. The combat was unusual-sounding as everyone was talking at the same time, saying stuff like, "Four, Normal!". I spotted the cache after wandering for a bit.

A Shady Spot

GRIZZLY STASH

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I have been planning to do this cache for a while. Today I decided to ride my bike down the Canyon Trail from Page Mill, and made a short detour to find this cache. My GPS was not close to zeroing out, but the cache was the first place I looked. Thanks!

Landslide

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

This was my turn-around point on my bike ride from Page Mill. I made it out in an hour and 10 minutes, which surprised me since I did a lot of pushing where my legs gave out. Thanks for the series. It was a good incentive for getting some exercise today. I took the New Jersey travelling coin and left Bytemobile turtle #344.

A blinker in the woods

By: bullit Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

I thought the Canyon Trail would flatten out at some point, but it seems to be continuing downward. Now I am worried about pushing my bike out of here. I was surprised to find a blinker because I didn't pay any attention to the cache title before I found it. I left a Green Jeep travel bug.

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I got here fairly quickly on my bike (I'm good at coasting and using the brakes), but a shadow of doubt crossed mind about getting back out of here. This was the first Green Jeep I've seen, so I decided to haul it to the next cache. I left Bytemobile turtle #343.

ANX: The Angle of Eternity

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

It took me about a year to figure out the coordinates to the first stage. I had some WoW tokens, but at first it wasn't clear which was the special token. That has been cleared up, but I still wasn't able to see the key number. I did discover upon close examination that my token has a serial number embossed on it, something that I had missed previously. I finally gave up looking at tokens, and tried a mathematical approach. Unfortunately, I assumed (Assume Nothing!) that the number on the web page was exact, when in fact it has been rounded off to 20 decimal places. I finally got over that, took a simpler approach, and came up with the key. By the way, did you know that if you add up the number equivalents of each letter in Assume Nothing, that you get a number whose checksum is 12? Stage 1: This is so close to home that I headed right over after getting the coordinates, and in my haste, fell into the well laid trap. I was able to recover after a short detour, and started paying closer attention to the clues.

Stage 2: My first visit was at night, and I failed to come up w ith much, but I did at least notice something that I later realized I needed to use. On my second visit, I had mostly the right idea, but messed up and failed to come up with reasonable coordinates. Then I decided to save the rest of this epic journey for my brother's visit. We came out today, an d knocked off this stage fairly quickly.

Stage 3: We wandered a bit here, but were finally drawn to the object of interest, and worked out the coordinates to the next stage. We were both amazed at the creativity, workmanship, and subtle hints.

Stage 4: We used the hints, and were in the right a rea, but this one took a while to spot. My brother finally had a good idea and looked where I hadn't.

Stage 5: After finding the equipment, we wandered up the creek and down, across the creek and back, trying to figure out where to set it up. We finally started using our brains and saw what we h ad missed.

Stage 6: My brother found it first while I was wandering and sighting the conjunction. I then had a look, and also came up with it faily quickly. I took the Lizzy the Lizard travel bug and left Bytemobile turtle #337.

Every stage of this cache was original. We were amazed at the cre ative effort that went into it, and had a great time this afternoon solving the puzzles and finding it.

Beach Ave

By: vaccine Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

We set up camp Friday at the Half Moon Bay campground for the Pumpkin Festival weekend. My niece was quick to spot this cache on a walk with my brother and I. I had forgotten my pen, so I came back and signed it on Sunday. Thanks!

The Bobcat Hole

By: Brandon Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Small

I read crawburr's log out loud to my brother, elliottpd, while we stood looking down at the little creek. I was amused enough that I had to give it a try. I put down some wood to step on, and managed to get through without much mud or putting my hand on the nettles. I spotted the cache right away, and escaped unscathed.

Ocean View Park

By: vaccine Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was biking today with my brother, elliottpd, and we stopped by here on our way from the crazy, busy downtown area (Pumpkin Festival weekend). Found it quickly, and headed on over to the path along the coast. Thanks!

Legend of the Blue Pearls

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

My brother, elliottpd, was visiting from Michigan, and he was camped with us for the weekend at Half Moon Bay. I had done this series previously, but decided it would make some good bike rides for us. We did the whole series, and my brother especially enjoyed Fishtrap. He may propagate that idea to the Grand Rapids area. We were unable to find the final cache, however. I found it when it was hidden higher, with "orange" as the hint. I thought it must be close by, but we couldn't spot it.

Ask Mr Whyte

By: vaccine Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The final location received a new coat of paint for Pumpkin Festival weekend. The cache could have been removed in the process. At any rate, we were not able to spot it.

Walnut's Gap

By: Wolf Grrl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I read the cache title to Mrs. Bytemobile, and she quickly decided where to park. We both looked for the cache, and I happened to be at the right angle to spot it. Thanks!

21 Mile House

By: OldFolk Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

While Mrs. Bytemobile was filling up at the Safeway gas station, I hopped out and headed across the street for this cache. I was able to find the final in plenty of time to be back on the street to be picked up. Thanks!

By: Travieso Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Mrs. Bytemobile was headed into Jo Ann Fabrics, so I told her to pick me up across the street, and I hiked over for this one. No problems finding it. Thanks!

The Commonwealth is "safe" tonight

By: Pal_Al Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Mrs. Bytemobile headed into Jo Ann Fabrics and left me to my own devices. I fired up the GPSr and saw that this cache was less than 200 ft away, so I hiked on over.

Tower Of Power

By: Shores Scout, originally by NavySparksandtheM Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I had a look on the ground, then leaned my back against the concete and read from my PDA what type of cache I was hunting. After I figured that out, I turned around and found the cache.

Levee Stroll

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had my bike, so I used it instead of strolling. The path was muddy here and there, but it didn't make any difference to the bike since it was already caked. No problem finding the cache. Thanks!

Don Edwards Refuge -- West

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was my first ride around this part of the Bay Trail, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. This cache took me a couple looks. The camo worked well enough that I missed it the first time.

Continuing on my Bay Trail bike ride -- I let a jogger pass, then went for the cache. Thanks!

Gossmer Cove Lagoon

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This cache was a nice respite after running into thick adobe clay at the last cache. I went down to the water here and washed the mud off my fingers before signing. Thanks!

By: bthomas Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had the day off today, so I did a little biking and a lot of caching around Redwood Shores. I had a look for this one, didn't spot it, read the hint, and went straight to it. I left Bytemobile turtle #334.

Guano Guantlet

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

The gauntlet is looking a little rickety these days. The camo worked quite well for me. I didn't need the hint, but I did need two looks before I spotted it.

Catapult!

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My eyes missed it, but my hand found it after a short search. I sat down on the sculpture to deal with the signing, then forgot what was above my head, and whacked it when I stood up. No blood, though. Thanks!

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I had the day off today, so I headed up here for a bike ride and some caching. My first pass was on the wrong side, but found it quickly without the hint after zipping around to the other side.

By: Shores Scout Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Wide Water View

By: mjp303 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The view is pretty nice. I wouldn't mind living here. I wonder how stable the soil is, and how much it would liquify during a quake?

Quest for the Masks: Le-Wahi

This was the second stop on my bike ride this morning. No one was here, and I made a quick find after reading the hint.

Eucalyptus conferruminata

By: Rogue Ramblers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

As I walked to the cache, I watched my GPSr count down toward zero, and I figured my first zero point was probably the best. After searching quite a while, I finally decided to walk down the path, check the satellite coverage, and get a new zero point. The new zero point was more than 30 feet away and I had almost instant luck finding the cache there. Like WoW, I found exactly what I thought I would find. Thanks!

Spirit Trap

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I came up to Redwood Shores for a bike ride and some caching. I decided to grab a couple more on my way back to 101. The cache was still attached to its spot, but the top was open and the baggie with the log was on the ground. The log was soaked and full, so I left a new Adventure Paper log.

Quest for the Masks: Onu-Wahi

By: Eagle81 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

This cache was the adventure of the morning for me. I could see the muddy road, and decided to check out approaches from both sides before committing myself. I finally headed down the road on my bike, but didn't get too far. The adobe clay built up on my tires until it was a couple inches thick, and jammed the tires until I couldn't move. I left the bike, and hiked over to the cache, which would have been the prudent think to do in the first place. I spent the next 40 minutes or so scraping the clay off my bike so I could continue.

Quest for the Masks: Ta-Wahi

By: Eagle81 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

There were only a couple places to look here, and I spotted it at the second place I looked. My challenge this morning was to try to put together an optimal route for all the caches in the area since this was my first time here.

Quest for the Masks: Ko-Wahi

By: Eagle81 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The hint was quite helpful for me. I didn't zero out in quite the right spot, but the hint got me there shortly. Thanks!

Quest for the Masks: Ga-Wahi

By: Eagle81 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I had a pretty good look for this one. I suppose I could have missed it if it's farther out than where I zeroed, but I gave the whole pier a once-over. It looks like the final my be currently inaccessible due to construction further up the trail.

Counterfeit

By: The Rat Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I didn't deliberately plan to do this cache this weekend, but I was in the area and picked up the CD yesterday, and one thing led to another. If I had planned ahead, I would have borrowed a notebook computer. I turned this into three caching expeditions, so it was not all bad. The cache was an original -- like you would expect from The Rat. My detective skills weren't so hot, but I managed to muddle through. I left my car for the final without a pen, so I ended up signing with a leaf and a Palm stylus. A note for folks picking up and dropping off CDs -- look for earthen stairs 150 ft south before plunging over the embankment. I returned CD #1, so both are now there.

I couldn't tell from Google Earth which side of the river this was on, so I ended up figuring it out the hard way. Once I was on the right side, I found the reasonably good trail to the cache. The King and Queen are in great shape for being in a container that is not tightly sealed.

TC2-2005 Adjacent to Rancho

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

This is a trail only a cacher could love, although it seems to be used somewhat regularly. I had this on my list of caches I wanted to do eventually, and today it all worked out. I came to do the rash of caches on a nearby trail, and found a trail that seemed to be headed in the right direction for this cache. I left Bytemobile turtle #327.

Bla'gard's Ruse 5 - Lime Rock Cascade

By: OGBO Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Well, I read the hints a couple times, backwards and forwards, and tried to perform them, but was unable to come up with the object of interest. I also sifted through the dried leaves on the trail near the cascade in case it had falled down, but no luck.

Start Here!

By: dw Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

OK, I started here a litte before 8 am. I was just about to lean over and have a look for the cache, when Ms. Ranger rolled up to change something on the bulletin board. I finished getting ready for my hike, she took off, and I finished finding the cache and headed up the trail.

Black Mountain Side

By: dw Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

HALFWAY UP! I read the cache description on my PDA as I walked up, and was discouraged because I was expecting to come over the crest to the top of the mountain any minute now. My patience in finding caches on a long hike is fairly minimal, and I gave up here after 15 minutes or so. On the way back down, though, I was still coming down the trail when I saw a shaft of sunlight lighting up the cache like a spot beam. I can't believe I missed it the first time. I left By temobile turtle #328.

Bla'gard's Ruse 3 - WAAS not Waas too

By: OGBO Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

Bla'gard's Ruse 7 - Topsincite

By: OGBO Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I spotted this one soon after I walked up. After signing, I continued on to the road, then turned around and headed back down the trail.

Bla'gard's Ruse 6 - Snake crossing

By: OGBO Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I stopped for the cache on the way up, then stopped here again on the way down to eat my little sandwich since it was almost noon. There is a place to sit, and it is somewhat protected from the wind I encountered at the top.

Bla'gard's Ruse 2 - deer me

By: OGBO Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

Wirebndr and I did a hike today from near Highway 1 to the ocean, along the San Lorenzo River. We didn't need a parking spot, but that was a good thing because the nearby residents take all the spots in this little cul-de-sac. Wirebndr came up with this find. Thanks!

Wirebndr and I headed out this morning from Seacliff State Beach to do a little Santa Cruz geocaching. We parked near Petco and headed down the river walkway. This ended up being our first cache, after we realized we were on the wrong side of the river for another nearby cache. Wirebnder missed this on the first pass, and I nabbed it on the second.

By: Peeves and Avada Kadavra Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Wirebndr and I stopped by on the return leg from hiking from Highway 1 to the ocean. I left the pathway and got a glimpse of the cache from the starboard side, then grabbed it from off the pathway on the port side. I don't normally move caches, but decided this one must have been moved before, and I made it reachable from the pathway. It meets the other criteria in the hints as well.

My company picnic was here today. A co-worker and I set out for a few caches, and this was the first. He spotted the cache, and I made the retrieval since I had better tread on my shoes. The placement no doubt could be improved to reduce erosion and to keep old guys like us from hurting ourselves.

I'm not sure I would. However, for a small, a micro, and a regular, I definitely would. I guess the traffic on this portion of the blue trail is fairly light. I saw three deer and saw ospreys on their stands. I also probably picked up a couple ticks out here. I found the cache on the ground, and put it back where I assumed it belonged. Thanks!

Secret Seacliff Beach Stairway

Today we parked our travel trailer at Seacliff and will be camping for a few days. After getting situated and getting the pets fed, I decided to hike for a couple caches. This one was pretty tough. I just exhausted the possibilities and finally came up with the cache. Opening the cache was another problem. I finally got it open by prying with a key. Thanks!

Seacliff camping

By: #1 geobears Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

The cache was probably the first thing I touched, but it was jammed so tight that I didn't think it was a cache. I gave up, went to find the Beach Stairway, then came back by here. I finally applied some serious pressure and found the cache. This is also one of our favorite camping spots. We are here for a few days with our travel trailer, watching the swarms of birds, the dolphins, and sea lions. Thanks!

Waterwheel

By: Jeffrey R. Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Virtual

This hike looked like it was a little beyond my comfort level, but I didn't have anything else to do today, so I gave it a shot. I headed out from Tuolumne Meadows Campground a little before 7 am, and set a turn-around time of 10 am. At 10 I was about 0.8 mi from the cache, so I continued on down the rocky trail. I got within 100 - 120 ft of the cache site, but didn't seriously consider crossing the river. There was a shallow area, but the flow rate was pretty high and I didn't have a safety rope. One slip or step into a hole would be fatal. Like wagga, I thought that the next falls upstream must be Waterwheel because of the big rooster-tail plumes of water shooting into the air. I was back at Glen Aulin at noon, but the store there was closed till 1 pm, so I skipped lunch, filled up my water bottles and stumbled on up the trail. I got back to the Tuolumne Campground at 3 pm, and was happy to be back because a big thunderstorm with hail and lots of rain hit at about 4 pm. Thanks for the adventure.

Panum Panorama Revisited

By: campyc Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The cache is 0.33 mi from the parking lot, but Mrs. Bytemobile left our wings at home, so we had to take the much longer trail. Mrs. Bytemobile was surprisingly game for this hike, which is soft sand in places and rocks in other places. We thought the obsidian was especially interesting. It took us a while to find the cache in all the rocks. We decided that the cache was nearly equidistant from the two trees mentioned in the hint. We found a frog along the trail that was probably dropped by the previous finders. We put it back in the cache, along with Bytemobile turtle #318 and an information sheet on the Panum Crater.

There was a flotilla of boys in canoes headed across the lake and up the river as I headed for this cache. No problems finding it. I left Bytemobile turtle #305 and took the Arrow One sigitem. Thanks!

Morning Romp

By: iragreenberg Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was my only cache of the day and my only Pennsylvania cache. I was busy with work-related stuff, and this cache was only a mile or so out of my way. I left Bytemobile turtle #303 and the Bully travel bug. This travel bug is on a race that originated in California. This is its first state outside of California and it needs to visit four more states before heading for the finish line in the UK. This was a nice place to see a little bit of PA. Thanks!

1st NJ Son of a Mother

By: CelestialDolphin & PixyGirl Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I searched for this with a co-worker who had not been caching before. We wandered around a bit before finding it and I evidently picked up a tick, since I found one crawling up my arm an hour or two later. We saw the travel bug, but left it and just signed the log. I'm here on business and hoped to get out for a little more caching this weekend. Thanks!

Dam,Rock,Temple

By: friendly four from felton Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

After the Roaring Camp event, I parked along Highway 9 and had a go at this one. I got good GPS reception, and a zero point very close to the cache. I spotted it after a short search. There was sand caked on the outside of the cache, so I guess there was water this high at some point. The log was completely soaked and turning into mush with a little mildew. I left a new log in a new baggie. Thanks!

the cache of roaring camp

By: David, Noelle and Reggie Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I tried to find this at last year's Roaring Camp event and failed. This year I talked to someone who had found it previously, and gave it another go. I don't think his hints matched the hide location exactly, but I was able to find the cache anyway. I left Bytemobile turtle #300.

What Happened to the Bridge?

By: MAMoran (maintained by Iron Chef) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

I was doing a little pre-event caching this morning. I parked next to someone who was checking his GPSr, and I met el Jim. We hiked to the cache site together. I had a zero point that was fairly close, and we made quick work of this old cache. I left Bytemobile turtle #297.

Meditation Cache

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I searched for this many months ago before there was a hint. It turns out that my previous search was too closely centered on the meditation site. I found the cache today without much trouble. I left Bytemobile turtle #301. Thanks!

Brother, can you spare some cache?

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I missed this some months back. Today I had good GPS reception, and spotted the camo without much trouble, before I had to resort to the hints. I left Bytemobile turtle #302. Thanks!

Secret Trail Head: Ox Parking

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I got a zero along the trail, and was able to spot the cache site fairly quickly. However, the cache is now inaccessible. I tried to fix things, but failed. I have e-mailed the details to the owner. Sorry!

Stump Cache

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I was out doing a little pre-event caching this morning. I found the right path and went up a ways, and stood contemplating whether to leave the path. My GPSr, which was reading over 100 feet from the cache suddenly beeped and said I was arriving at the cache site. I looked around, and sure enough, the second stump I examined had the cache. I left Bytemobile turtle #299.

Post Pigs Beware #2

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

Since the two traps have been out here over a year, unused, I think they are just in long term storage mode. The GPS reception was good enough here that I was able to find the cache without the hint.

Forget Your Pen? (!P.O. Warning!)

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I have gotten pretty good at spotting PO over the last couple years. I don't remember any in the immediate area of the cache, but I didn't realize that a site survey was wanted. I was happy for the hint. I had a look around before reading it, but the cache was well concealed.

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

Oil Creek Gulch

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was at the trailhead before 8 am, but it was already getting warm out here. There were still some fog in some of the valleys below. Thanks!

Check for Ticks

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

9:50 am - The silence was deafening here this morning, and the light beneath the trees was relatively dim, even though it was a clear day. My GPSr took me about 50 feet too far, so I was happy for the hint. This was the turn-around point for my hike back to Long Ridge, so when the roar of the mosquitos started up, I was on my way. I left turtle #296.

Ranch Springs

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

My bark is worse than your byte...mobile

By: Lil Devil Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I got a taste of my own medicine with this cache. The poor reception led me about 300 feet past the cache before my GPSr changed its mind. I came up with the cache fairly quickly though, spotting something that normally takes a while for me. I left Bytemobile turtle #293. Thanks!

Clover Forest

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I came to Portola this morning to do some cache maintenance and grab a few caches that have accumulated over the past year. I got a little taste of my own medicine here. My GPSr lost lock about .17 mi from the cache, then re-locked when I was about 400 feet past it. I started counting paces and read the description and hint. I was actually surprised when I reached in and felt the cache since I thought the stump was too high for the hint. After I replaced the cache, my GPSr beeped. It had re-gained lock and said I was 80 ft from the cache, which means the coordinates are probably pretty good. The clover and creek were all very nice this morning. Thanks!

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I came over for some cache maintenance and a few caches this morning. I guess the Bellagio's have varied business interests. I had a look around, then when I heard the mosquitos revving up their engines, I had a look at the hint and found the cache. Thanks!

By: Jackcheese and Motlah Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Micro

We were camped at Lake Nacimiento Resort for the weekend and rented a ski boat for some skiing and wakeboarding. This was our first stop after lunch, and it didn't take long. I jumped out of the boat, and was handed the GPSr and pen once I had my footing. It looked like I was about the fourth to sign the log.

We stopped by for this one on our way back to our campsite at Lake Nacimiento Resort. The teddy bear had pushed the top off of the tub, but I shoved him back in. Not much worry about rain this time of year anyway. I didn't spot a log, so I left a new one.

By: The Saints Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I finished my Big Basin hikes, and decided to do a few in Boulder Creek before heading home. I found part of the cache where it should have been, but the log and other half of the cache were on the ground. I signed and put it back together like it should have been.

Forecast

By: bctom Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This is a great spot for a cache. It was absolutely quiet this morning. I think coordinates for parking would be helpful, so people don't make dangerous U-turns trying to find the right turn-out.

Eagle Fire

By: Team Crush (adopted by 50sumtin) Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

This was a warm hike today, with no breeze what so ever and lots of flies on the trail. I began to worry about my coordinates about 3/4 of the way to the top, and was wishing I had verified them with the owner before setting out on this trek. I got the coordinates over a year ago, on a rainy day drive with a friend. Today I did a long loop hike at Big Basin before starting this one, so I was buzzard bait by the time I made it to the cache. No problem finding it. I left Bytemobile turtle #285 and took an Airplane Journal card. Thanks!

Spur of the Moment 1

By: Calikat Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was my first stop this morning on a geocaching trip to Big Basin. The coordinates are on the wrong side of the road, so I recommend the letterbox instructions, but maybe count steps instead of paces.

Old Growth Cache

By: 50sumtin Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had a look for this before my hike, but couldn't come up with it. After the hike, there were lots more people around. I rested there a bit, and figured out where it must be. I touched it, waited for an opportune moment and made the grab. Thanks!

Monkey's Lair

By: ppp06059 (maintained by xmts) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Blue Hills Memories

By: Gitonyerhorse Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was my closest to home unfound traditional cache. The nearby building was where we submitted an offer to buy our house some 23 years ago. I was expecting this to be a tough one, but the coordinates were great for me, and I got the right angle on the cache.

Historic Palo Alto 2

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Seems like it has been nearly a couple years since I did the first couple stages of this cache. I found and logged the bonus cache, and it was quite a surprise. Thanks!

Stevens Creek Lizardbox

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Motorbug and I were hiking up the trail in the opposite direction today, and I followed the instructions in backward order. I was surprised to see all the newts in the water, swimming around like fish. I didn't realize they spent that much time in the water.

Appreciation of OSPs

By: ed777 Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The hint led me to a fairly quick solution after finding the right reference material. Clever puzzle! The cache was well hidden. I was glad that Motorbug was with me today. His cache radar kicked in and he found it in no time.

LZW

By: trode Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I solved this one with a little C code. I was surprised at how little code was required. I thought the cache write-up was outstanding in its clarity, and it left just enough work to be done that it was interesting to solve. I arranged for a hike today with Motorbug to find a few nearby caches. We didn't see a deer trail to the cache -- the deer must be slacking on their trail maintenance. The cache site was nice spot.

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was my second hike of the day, and I was a little beat. The hint and my GPSr lead me in a circle around the cache site a couple times, then finally the cache title dawned on my foggy brain. I left turtle #277.

Down To Table Mountain

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I found this one quickly without the hint. I probably should have saved this for a little break on the way back. There is poison oak encroaching here and there along this trail. Fortunately, the mountain bikers (who aren't offically allowed on this trail) are beating up the longer PO branches dangling in the trail. I left turtle #276.

Virus Cache Bravo

By: catomcat Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I gave this a try some months back with no luck. Since I was coming by here, headed for the non-event at the Boardwalk, I decided to give it another shot. I don't remember having the hint before, and that helped somewhat. I found the cache in a place that I had looked before.

The Wind Cave

By: TrailHacker and Little Albino Girl Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Not chosen

We parked out travel trailer in the Gaviota State Beach day use area for lunch, and I checked out the nearby geocaches. This one looked the most interesting. When Mrs. Bytemobile saw the GPSr say it was a mile a way, she declined, and I headed out on my own. After reading in the cache description about the easy way in being from the ocean, I looked for a way to hike up the beach, but I guess that must refer to the final approach. I got a map from the ranger and he directed me to the trail. The trail was not too bad, but at one point I was wishing for my hiking boots instead of the lighter shoes I had on. The two logs in the cache were mostly full, so I left another one and took the Yankee Clipper travel bug. Thanks!

Shipwreck Park (Practice Your Stealth Park)

By: Sail Meerkat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

We were at the park in the middle of the day on a weekday, and the park was busy. The zip line reminded us of the one that our boys built that ended in our pool. The first stage was not visible, but some probing with long fingers finally touched it, and we were able to extract it. We left it in a more visible position. The second stage was completely exposed so we moved it uphill and concealed it a little better. Thanks!

Taking The 5th

"DID YOU HEAR SOMETHING?"

By: IGBAY OOBAY Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

If you are getting burned out on lamp post micros, I recommend a few caches by IGBAY OOBAY. I am definitely inspired to try something more creative up in the San Jose area. I was wishing I had Mrs. Bytemobile along for this one because I was having some trouble with the direction of the final. I finally spotted it, signed, and did a little maintenance using the tool left in the cache. Finally, I picked up an old broom I found and swept my tracks away. Thanks for the fun!

Where's your spirit of adventure?

By: IGBAY OOBAY Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Other

As we approached the cache, we saw some legs and voices. It turned out to be the cache owner and son, checking up on the cache and having a little adventure. They let us find it ourselves, and it turned out to be a nice piece of workmanship, well camo'ed but in plain sight from where we were looking. Thanks for the adventure!

I hiked over from our campsite at McGrath early this morning while Mrs. Bytemobile was still snoozing. I saw lots of bunnies and birds. The coordinates are right on, which is what you would expect for a beach cache. I think people are having trouble because there is nothing to draw your attention to the cache site. TNLNSL. Thanks!

Mrs. Bytemobile and I took a little walking tour of AG this morning. The roosters were out in force. The festival was over and the porta-potties were being hauled off. Mrs. B stayed in the truck for this one. She doesn't like walking in the weeds. I was looking for the wrong kind of thing at the first stage, and had to give it a triple going-over before spotting it. The second stage was quick, but I had to add about 10 ft to the distance. Nice cache!

I rode up here on my bike from the Pismo Beach Oceano campground. There was a group of cachers at the starting point when I rode up, but I was in time to help find the first stage. I didn't have a Phillips screwdriver with me, so I would have been out of luck without this meet-up. I had the first look at the second stage, but I came up empty, so I was happy to have a group of folks with sharper wits to find the final. Nice job on both stages! This beach is crazy on Memorial Day weekend. My two sons took me golfing at the nearby nine-hole course. I left a signature turtle. Thanks!

After reading Nemglan's log, I hoped that all I had to do was wait for a break in the trail traffic (and there was a lot this morning!) and reach into the bushes. After that didn't work, I decided that the coordinates must be accurate because of the nice view of the sky, so I tried another approach that took me to my zero point. The cache was still very hard to find, and I ended up spending a total of about a half hour here. I took AlphaRomero sigitem #405 and left a Bytemobile turtle.

What? No Cache!

I looked for this many months ago with no luck. Today it was easy -- the cache was open and lying in the open. Semi-Hex parked next to me and we had a short chat before I headed out, then I saw him again on my way out, not far from this cache. I didn't see any signs, but I was under the impression that this side of the creek was wilderness, so I left my bike at the creek and hiked in. The lake was quite busy, with three or four campsites. I plunked down at the cache site and changed my socks since they were soaked from all the creek crossings. The cache must have gotten very hot at some point because a candle melted and stuck several things together in the cache. I took the candle remains, a Marky & Joani CITO token and left Bytemobile turtle #248.

By: Trellan Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

Wirebndr and I came up from where we were camped at Hanford to pick up a special trailer tire. After that was accomplished, we decided to take the Tower District tour. We saw some very nice old Fresno homes, and finally parked at the final. We were hoping for a plaque on the outside of the building or even something inside. We asked one employee with no luck, then hit the jackpot with the manager who gave us the history of the place.

Dragon Breath

By: scooterman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This is kind of a neat area for our second Hanford cache. We read the plaque at the Hand Laundry, looked through the window, and were amazed that it looked like it was still in business. I read the hint and Wirebndr had the cache in his hand a few minutes later. Thanks!

Sad Caf é Happy Again

Those are two very competent dogs. The owner was there too, but he was behind the cafe, so I just grabbed the cache and took it back to the truck to sign, then took it back.

At Carroll's Tire we found that their Fresno store had the special trailer tire that Wirebnder needed. We decided to hike up the street for one more cache before getting on the road. Thanks!

I have been to the top of Half Dome -- in the spring before the cables are put up on posts. We had to grab the cables as they lay on the rock. I think I must have lost some arm strength since then, but I did finally manage to get to the top of this one and claim the cache. Thanks!

Secret Montalvo Trail

By: Mary & Dave Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

The rain stopped about 9 am, so I decided to do a little hike before heading for dinner with the relatives. I had been to Montalvo several times when my boys were small (and before that my wedding was here), and I made a couple more visits geocaching, but I certainly missed this trail. Thanks for the trailhead waypoint. Based on my GPSr I was sure I was on the wrong trail for the cache, and I decided to get it on the way back, but the trail finally took me where I wanted to go. After crossing the creek (more exciting on the way down after the downpour started) I came upon a sizeable slide, but getting through it was fairly easy. Great cache!

Montalvo Deathmarch

By: Mary & Dave Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

This was a sweet hike up to the paved road, but after that, I was happy for my hiking boots and poles. The rain was light on the trip up, but the wind picked up when I reached the cache site and the rain became heavy shortly after. I took the chimpanzee travel bug and left Bytemobile turtle #246. The rain was flowing down the trail as I headed back down, but I never had a problem with mud -- the mountain seems to be fairly gravelly. My top was fine with a waterproof shell and cotton shirt underneath, but my jeans were wet and heavy by the time I got down. I enjoyed the hot shower when I got home!

Hemlock's Test Cache - April Fools!

By: Hemlock, Lil Devil & Workerofwood Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

3:45 pm FTF. Where is everybody today? Afraid to log a DNF on an April Fools cache? I saw this when it first came up, then went out to do some gardening for a couple hours. I finally concocted an errand and came by for a look. After I had been looking a little while, mfc61 showed up and joined the hunt. If you have sharp eyes and a sharp mind, you can figure out this unique and extremely clever cache. That didn't apply in my case, and I fumbled onto it by touching everything. (Blind pigs and truffles.) The FTF prize was very cool -- a one step coin quest.

Touch the Twilight (Night Cache)

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

This was my first night cache, and the rain made it more of an adventure. The light rain quit during our quest, and by the time I finished the second tour with shadow101, at 10 pm, we had quite a nice view of the lights below. The muddy, steep slopes were quite treacherous, and hiking boots made a big difference. The first time around, I didn't see where the micro was hidden for the next to the last stage, so shadow101 and I had to search for a bit. I don't think there is a firetack in the area anymore. I took an I Found It card at the final. Thanks for the adventure!

I spent a while looking, then gave up and headed to the next cache. On my way back, I spent another 30 seconds looking, and was able to spot it with both feet on the trail, but you need good eyesight and good lighting. There are three spots left on the log. This area was quite busy as I walked up. One family was enjoying the water flowing here, and a couple walked by and asked if I had found the geocache here yet. Well I just started to look, and was able to say that I found it before they got out of earshot. I hiked back to Pichetti Ranch with the family and told them all about geocaching. I left a coin here to satisfy a Coin Quest requirement -- a 50 colones coin from Costa Rica.

Devils' Release: The Ark

By: Snuva & Chepup Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I came out here for Coin Quest #2, and this cache qualifies for me under about three different categories. I first headed to "Kaesky Point", 200+ feet from the cache, then stubbornly headed in a clockwise direction, bushwacking here and there to make sure I wasn't missing a shortcut. When I finally got to the cache site, I searched high and low. I was about to give up when I did one final search around the periphery of the area, and found the cache in the grass. The cache container was full of water from the recent rains, and every thing was wet except the log, which was sealed nicely in its baggie. I dried out things as best I could, and took the story books home to see if they are salvagable. I hid the cache in a new spot again -- this time it is on the ground.

Don't Bark Up the Wrong Tree

By: 47russ47 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was a piece of luck. This cache is close to home, but I had avoided it because it was in front of someone's house. It turned out to be an easy one to find in the dark, without much prowling.

I got brother-in-law Wirebndr (retired orthodontist) to come with me this morning for a hike at El Corta Madera. This was our first stop. All That Jazz

By: Chronic Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

Went we got to the area of the cache, I checked my watch and told Wirebndr that we would only spend 10 minutes on this one. I was getting close to noon and we had a long climb out of here. Wirebndr made the find and kept our record perfect for the day. I had walked within a few steps of the cache, but my attention was directed in the wrong direction. No, Motorbug, I didn't drop any new caches back here. I left turtle #236. We got back on the trail just ahead of a big Weekly Walker group, let by Tom Davids.

Both Wirebndr and I thought this was one of the most interesting caches we had seen. We took everything out and examined it. We were unable to identify the function of some of the pieces, and wished for some labels. This was sort of a puzzle cache in trying to fit everything back in. I took the travel bug and left turtle #235.

Manzanita Trail Overlook

By: Shores Scout, geekster & Eagle81 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

The hide and hint worked great for us and we spotted the cache right away. Wirebndr and I headed back toward the trailhead from here and ran into the Boulters and Motorbug, who had been trailing us all morning. They inspected me for a backpack in case I had been hauling ammo boxes back here. I think the greater danger is Motorbug, though. We'll see what pops up over the next week.

Caching Break 7 - the Green Pearl

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This seemed like a great cache for St. Patrick's Day. We came over for a weekend of camping at Half Moon Bay. My wife and her sister headed out for Twice As Nice and I hopped on my bike for this cache. By the way, my wife's sister and brother both have birthdays today (they're not twins). I had some problems finding the cache, then read the hint and got on the right track.

Palo Alto Baylands - Top of the Hill

I came out for a short lunchtime break today, and the weather was not half bad. Thanks!

Almost Natural

By: Rocket Girl and DuckeyLee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I have stopped by a couple times before looking for this one. My only excuse is that the hint didn't work out for me because of my long stride, or maybe the cache has migrated.

Choose Your Own Adventure

By: fulmar2 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Over the weekend I solved my problems with reading and following directions, and came up with a solution that worked. I headed out at lunchtime to find the cache, and when I saw it I finally understood Fizzy's log. I'm certainly not as good as Fizzy, but after a while I got a feel for the matter and was able to sign. Thanks!

Fahrvergn ügen

By: Mary & Dave Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I decided to take the opportunity to go caching in the snow this morning. Snow and ice and water was coming down from the trees as I hiked along the trail to the cache. I left signature turtle #226.

Log This Cache!

By: zapboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I came up late this afternoon for the new Sage View cache, and stopped by here on the way out. I left turtle #231.

The Way Up To Long Ridge

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I appreciated the info in the "Up the Down Escalator", and changed my route to this cache. The snow / frozen rain was coming down pretty good and probably affected my GPSr. After wandering around a bit, I read the hint and headed straight for the cache. I left turtle #228.

Back Porch

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

There was a little accumulation of snow here from last night, and more was falling as I came up to the back porch. I had a look under one end of the porch, then read the hint and found the cache fairly quickly.

Sage View

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

3:55 pm -- FTF. One nice thing about going for FTF on a Motorbug cache is that you're not competing against him. I had a day off today and went on a caching expedition to the snow country (Skyline Blvd) this morning, and was working my way through the honey-do list this afternoon when this cache popped up. I decided that since I could pick up three other caches, it was definitely worth the trip. I left turtle #230.

Wally's Cave

By: Tripp888 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I was sort of surprised when I found this one because I thought I must be on the wrong trail. My GPSr was reading 270 ft. I think my GPSr was a bit off today because of the snow falling and all the moisture on the trees. I probably would never have found this without the obvious landmark and generous hints. I left signature turtle #229.

Up The Down Escalator

By: ed777 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

My GPSr was way off on my first pass, so I read the hint and that didn't get me any closer. The water and snow in the trees, and the little pellets of frozen rain coming down probably didn't help the GPS accuracy. After a while it changed its mind, and I got close enough to guess a likely hiding spot. I left signature turtle #227.

Grizzly Long Flat Ridge

By: ed777 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I came up for a little snow caching this morning. The log was a bit damp, but I managed to sign OK. A slightly bigger cache with a baggie for the log would probably work here.

Virus Bravo One

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I gave this a shot without reading the hint. I didn't want to go poking around everywhere, though, since there was some accumulated snow here from last night, and some more falling. I knew the coordinates would be good so I guessed a likely spot, and stepped off the trail and grabbed the cache.

Big Blue Birds Lay...

By: zapboy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I liked this one because is a clever hide and it didn't cause me too much grief. In fact, I found it by the coordinates alone. I took a quick look around, and was about to pull out my PDA to start reading when I spotted something suspicious. Thanks!

Long Ridge Vista

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I guess the snow coming down was better than rain. I gave this a shot without reading the description, then read the description, but not the hint, and was able to spot the cache fairly quickly. There was some great swag in the cache, but I decided to leave it for future cachers.

Walls of Oak

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I came up for Sage View late this afternoon, and picked this up on my way out. I left turtle #232.

Cupertino City Center Cache

By: GeoBrowns (adopted by Gitonyerhorse) Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Finally found this one after getting some help from the owner. I came very close on my last visit, and checked out some similar hiding places, but missed this one. The log was much easier to deal with than some others of this type.

What, No Spinach?

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I stopped by at lunchtime and quickly located the cache. Pretty easy terrain for a popeye2 cache. I stopped by the old location a couple weeks ago and had no luck.

Santa Clara PAL BMX

By: bullit Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I didn't have my PDA -- all I had was the coordinates, which made this a little more interesting. I was initially thinking bison tube, but stumbled upon the cache after a short search.

Hey Bubb!

By: pao_flyer Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The second stage was the toughest for me. You aren't going to spot it with a quick glance in that direction, and the previous hider did a fine job.

Rosita Park

By: mharrigan Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Just a few drops of rain were starting to fall as I headed for the cache this afternoon. The playground was empty, so it was an easy find. Thanks!

Solid workmanship, and a fine hide. I consider myself lucky to have spotted this one without too much effort.

Chainasaurus

By: GeoBrowns Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I had plenty of uninterrupted search time this afternoon and couldn't spot it. I wouldn't take that as any indication as to whether it is still there, though.

Four Coyotes and an Eagle

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

I tried to find this one without the hint and missed it, but then read the cache description and hint and made a quick grab. I found a little space to add my signature on the log. I would have brought a new log if I had read the cache page ahead of time.

Momotaro, the dog, the monkey and the pheasant!

By: AF911 and fried-neurons Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I did a little hike along the river today, and decided to give this one a try. My experience was different than Motorbug's I read his log and the hint, so I had a pretty good idea of where to look. The color of the cache fastener helped too, and I found it after a short search. Thanks!

Guadalupe River Trail Free Parking

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I had an errand this afternoon that took me near downtown, so I added a little hike along the Guadalupe. The log is a bit worn and getting full.

High Water

By: bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I managed to find this one from just the coordinates. There was a little turtle in the cache, so I left one of my signature turtles to keep him company.

The Circle of Life (La Vida Es Un Circo)

By: AF911 and Fried-Neurons Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I was doing a little hike along the river this afternoon, and popped out to grab this one. I tried to find it with just the coordinates, but had to read the description and hint to make the grab. Thanks!

Picchetti Ranch Open Space Preserve ~ MROSD

By: MROSD (adopted from ladybug54 & trode) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I ran into Motorbug on the trail and he hiked back with me to this one. There are still lots of peacock items in the cache. I left signature turtle #223.

Zinfandel 5

By: zapboy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I didn't have any trouble with the coordinates, but I didn't pay that much attention to my GPSr. I saw a likely spot and some recent leaf disturbance that lead five feet off the trail. Thanks!

Gone Fishing

By: Orienteering Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I came to the park this morning for a rash of new caches, and stopped for this one on the way out. The rain was starting to fall lightly at this point. I didn't have any fishing gear to trade, so I just signed the log.

Don't Be Left In The Dark

By: zapboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was an easy find for me. Motorbug was kneeling in the trail, putting the cache back together as I walked up. I turned around here to park my car below for the remaining caches.

I Love Legos

By: zapboy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

My notifications were evidently set up only for traditional caches, so I didn't see this one this morning when I headed out. Motorbug gave me the coordinates of the first stage when I met him on the trail, so I gave it a try. I was a little slow to figure out that both projects had to be assembled at the same time, but I finally caught on and found the second stage in one try. Thanks!

50 Feet High (formerly Knee High)

By: zapboy Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

STF - 10:00 am. I actually had visions of a FTF, but I lingered over the Sunday paper too long. Sharkz beat me by about 35 minutes. I parked at Picchetti Ranch, and it is a fairly flat hike to the cache from there. I took the Sharkz tooth and left turtle #222.

SERENITY

By: Rosy3 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

It looks like the enticement has worked in spades. This is almost a power caching trail now. SteveL had already found this one, so he stepped back and watched MotorBug and I wander around. I zeroed out directly across the trail from the cache. MotorBug wandered over first and gave the cache a poke with his hiking stick, then stepped back across the road and let me finish the job.

Lexington View

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

I had been planning to do this someday, and the explosion of caches in the area finally brought me here. I came in from ES02 on a hike with SteveL and MotorBug, but extended the hike a little and came down here by myself to grab a couple more caches. The cache is exposed enough that I spotted it from 50 feet away, but I guess this area doesn't get that much traffic. I left signature turtle #221.

Alpha Ten - Confunction Junction

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

The coordinates are excellent. SteveL and MotorBug had already found this one, so they waited while I grabbed this one and signed. Thanks!

Switchback View

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I had no doubt that we would find this one with MotorBug watching us. The coordinates were right on. I just had to get in the right position to see it.

On The Trail Again

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I parted ways with MotorBug and SteveL at the start of this trail. I still had a little energy left and wanted to grab the two caches down here while I was in the area. The coordinates were great, and the cache was not that hard to grab, but someone wearing shorts might disagree with me. I left signature turtle #220.

ES02 El Sereno OSP (Nazgul Secret Trailhead #5)

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I joined in a hike today with SteveL and MotorBug. We hiked up from Steve's place, which is a fair uphill jaunt just to the trailhead. I headed off in the wrong direction here, while my companions made the find.

Another Reason

By: Kealia Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

MotorBug and SteveL hiked on up with me to this one even though they had both found it before. We met a couple of Sierra Club members here planning their next hike and MotorBug explained geocaching to them. I zeroed out right next to the cache and had no trouble spotting it. I left Bytemobile turtle #218 and took Bullit bullet #212.

Umunhum Point

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

We could see a long way today, but there was a bit of haze. Motorbug headed straight for the cache again, while I was wandering. It was nice to have some company today since it seemed to make the trail alot easier.

Dead Duck

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Stonegate's Gate: Coyote Creek Trail's End

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I tackled this one like a rookie. First, I didn't read the cache description. After wandering aimless up and down the trail, a golfer asked me "How does it look?" I finally got in the vicinity of the cache, and had the wrong picture in my mind of what it should look like. I finally spotted something of interest an it was the cache.

Basking on the Ridge

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Trail's End, Coyote Creek in Stonegate Park

Hoover

By: Bodster Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This cache is at the far edge of my weekly query of the 500 closest unfound traditional caches. I was heading home, had a little caching time, and this was a logical place to start. Lots of sports activity here this morning.

Along The Tonyon Trail

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I was out doing a little cache maintenance today, and stopped by here for a quickie cache. Thanks!

Passing Wind

By: The Bubbas Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I also made a loop out of this, but not intentionally. This cache was a secondary objective, if I had time after the other caches and cache maintenance I was doing. I didn't print out an ExpertGPS calibrated map; in fact I didn't bring a map of any kind. I just headed uphill, and found that the closest I got to the two caches I was going after was 0.4 miles. I made it to the top, trucked on over to the right trail, and headed down. I left signature turtle #212 and Lil Devil's CA geocoin.

Redwood Chapel

By: rowanf Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Valentine Love Notes

By: GeoWomyn_SF_CA Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was doing some cache maintenance today and stopped by for this one. It looks like there are still plenty of trails and interesting spots back here that could use another cache or two. My wife has a thing about "Dancin' in the Moonlight" by King Harvest. My taste runs more to a little Kenny G playing low in the background.

I took the Lil Devil CA geocoin and moved it on to "Passing Wind", and left signature turtle # 211.

Catch Your Wind

By: PisoMojado Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I was coming down from the top, and was puzzling over where the cache might be, with my GPSr reading a little over 100 feet. I finally headed on down the trail, and found that it made a switch back just beyond my sight, and found the cache with no problem. I left signature turtle #213.

Terrain Challenge 3

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

The Terrain Challenge series is the sort of thing that attracts me to geocaching -- an incentive to get out and hike a trail that I wouldn't otherwise have discovered. I picked this cache for find #2000, and wasn't disappointed. My GPSr said I was over 100 feet away when I found it, but the confined area and the hint did the trick for me. I left signature turtle #203. I didn't spot any wildlife until I was almost back to the car and saw a bobcat on the trail around the pond.

I've been meaning to stop by for this for some time now. I found it with no problem and left signature turtle #202. Thanks!

Aaahchoo

By: summerandnana Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Nice camo. I wandered around a bit, then read the last couple logs, and soon after spotted something suspicious. Thanks!

Safe Haven

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

My zero point is close to the sprinklers and I have been here a couple times. The cache is not far from there, though, well within the accuracy of my readings. I wasn't expecting this type of cache, and I guess that is what made it a difficult find for me.

STOP! Bridge Out!

By: cachecrashers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

My track record in finding this kind of hide is not that great, but poked around and came up with it fairly quickly.

Planner S.M.

By: Tonton-Ca Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The cache was full of stuff, but I found room to leave a signature turtle, #201. Thanks!

Lampposts - A Fools Errand

By: cachecrashers Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Saturday is a great day to try this one. No one was around at mid-morning. I poked around a bit and found the cache without too much problem.

Non-obvious Park and Ride - Los Gatos

By: bykenut Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was a bit sneaky, but not that hard to find once you direct your attention to the right area. Thanks!

Come Again

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was the turn-around point for my lunchtime walk today. The last time I was out here, I came from the other end of the trail, so this worked out fine for a different walk today.

The 528 foot hole

By: bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

I saw a huge jack rabbit on the way to the cache at noon today. Maybe it was just his ears that were so large.

My First "Multicache"

By: stbk Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was a quick stop on my way home tonight. My GPSr wanted to autoroute me straight down Lawrence and have me stop along the side, but I knew exactly where I wanted to go.

See Clearly

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The jar was full of goodies, but I left signature turtle #200 because there was still a little room.

And Again

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

It was a bit dreary at noon today, but the squirrels, rabbits, geese, ducks, and cormorants didn't seem to mind.

Plant Invasion

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I finally found C or N? and had a little lunch hour left over, so I stopped by for a bonus cache.

C or N?

By: zapboy Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

N. I had the right picture in my mind of what to look for the last time I was here. I even ran my hand along the edge near the cache, but missed it. Today the invisiblity spell was removed and I spotted it.

Pheasant Run

By: Bright Shining Stars (maintained by MotorBug) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Nice pheasant pictures! I stopped by at lunchtime, and it is always a pleasure to come out here.

Ling The Lang/Buzzcocks II

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is my kind of blinker - visible at 10 paces. Thanks!

Tai Chi View

By: alpharomero.com Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This cache is on the route of my regular lunchtime walk. The foot traffic was lower than normal today due to the threat of rain. I had no problem grabbing and signing.

Numbers Hound # 2

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

After two caches in two weeks (Costa Rica and Nicaragua), I don't mind adding to my finds with an easy one.

Numbers Hound # 1

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

My GPSr took a while to figure out that it was no longer in Costa Rica. Then it got me within a bush or two of the cache, but that left a lot of bushes to beat. Persistence paid off and I finally got the right angle on the cache. I took the Duckey Lee button and left turtle #199.

Masaya Volcano Cache

By: On the Brenk Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

All I needed to do to find this cache was to sign up for a shore excursion from the Windstar. We anchored near the fishing village of San Juan del Sur, where we were met by some big air conditioned buses. Our Nicarguan tour guide claimed that there were only six buses like this in Nicaragua. Most of the buses we met on the road were old US school buses. We headed past Lake Nicaragua to the old colonial city of Granada. We stopped there and walked around the square and through the museum. The kids there were pretty aggressive in selling their little souveniers, nuts, and gum. We bought a little bug woven from a sugar cane leaf while we watched. At the volcano, our guide hauled us up the hill and pointed out one of the taller buildings in Managua, and filled us in on some of the history of the volcano.

Thanks for setting this up!

Tortuguero

By: Josh Bolden and DG Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

We stayed for a couple nights at the Mawamba Lodge, and the National Park was just a mile hike from there. I brought along a replacement cache -- a large pill bottle covered with camo tape. I found a little plastic man here under a coconut husk. I put the man in the cache and re-hid the cache under the husk. The trail was quite muddy, but we made it through in pretty good shape. Listening to the Howler monkeys was awesome. We came back the next day with a tour guide and rubber boots and saw lots of birds and more monkeys. I will upload some pictures when I get home.

Where's the Dam Cache?

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This is an interesting plant, and I was hoping the hint would tell me what it was. I only saw one other person on this back trail today in the rain showers.

Along the De Anza Trail 10 - Camden Oak

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I found the cache on the ground, but it seems to be getting by just fine that way. Thanks!

Cache-Fishing

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The rain started picking up a little as I headed for the cache, and the one fisherman on this end of the pond retreated under the trees. Thanks!

Cormorant Feeding Line

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

10:10 am -- I wasn't really trying for a FTF. I planned a route to do some errands and a few caches, and this was my second cache. The cormorants were here and a few die-hard joggers, but the rain thinned out the traffic on the trail.

Get Down to the Water

By: STP Ron Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I liked the hint. I am increasing my plant vocabulary and identification knowledge. The cache was a little hard to spot, buried under some grass. I left Bytemobile turtle #198.

Sierra Azul Trader

By: Tonton-Ca (adopted by OneAngryPuppy) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I took a bike ride along Woods Trail today and stopped for this one. I didn't have a travel bug, so I just left signature turtle #191.

Above the Valley

By: ProTechCC & Chucklesda Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

This was hidden since my last trip up and down Barlow Rd. I had been planning to come back sometime, and the new caches finally got me out here. I left signature turtle #195.

Montgomery Lane

By: Mystery Ink Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Very cool spot, and lots of interesting debris around. I left signature turtle # 196.

Hot Wheels Cache

By: Pack 281 Den 1 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Large

This is an interesting area that I haven't been to before -- a nice place for a cache. I had a bit of trouble finding it, though. My GPSr said I was about 40 feet away when I found it. I left Bytemobile turtle #197.

Tram Lines

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I had a tough time spotting this, but I finally got close enough that I couldn't miss it. I swapped a new GBA coin for the CA geocoin and left signature turtle # 192.

Ghost Trees

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I didn't zero out in exactly the right spot, but the real estate is limited here, and it didn't take long to wander over and find it.

River Runs Through it

By: Mystery Ink Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

What Nazgul said. I had other stuff to do today.

SA09

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

I took a short bike ride from the gate on Mt. Umunhum Rd. I spotted a little Mystery Ink critter I hadn't seen before and swapped signature turtle #174 for it.

Five Finger Discount

By: Mystery Ink Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I zipped up to this one on my bike, dismounted, and made the grab. Thanks!

Snake Alert

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

Yikes! I didn't have my hiking stick for poking.

Easy Chair

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I'm glad someone is willing to explore these interesting little trails. I had been up and down Barlow Rd. before, and never thought to have a look out here. Thanks for the tour!

By: stbk Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I had a little trouble with a digit or two, but it all worked out eventually. Nice puzzle idea. Happy New Year!

Heritage Park

By: dw Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I stopped by here months ago, but there was a large group gathered around the cache site, and I didn't want to interrupt. Today the place was deserted. The log was damp, but the plastic bag was pretty much intact, so it wasn't clear why it was so wet.

C or N?

By: zapboy Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is my second DNF. I thought I had a pretty good picture in my mind of how this cache was hidden after chatting with the owner at the "Before Birthday Breakfast", but it wasn't there as pictured.

Birders

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

At noon this end of the trail was packed with walkers, runners, and bike riders, and someone was plunked down at the cache site. I passed it by on the way out, and the coast was clear on the way back for a quick grab.

Charleston Slough

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I didn't realize until this hike that there is a parking lot at both ends of this trail, and I have been on the other end. This was my turn-around point, though, and I hustled back to the car.

Coffee Anyone

By: Rocket Girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I stopped by once before, but I think it was gone. At the Before Birthday Breakfast, Rocket Girl told me that she had replaced it, so I stopped by on my way to work this morning and signed on the first spot in the new log. I would have taken one of the new Rocket Girl tokens, but I already had one from the Breakfast. Thanks!

Runners

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was out here before to pick up the first couple caches in this series. A return trip is not a bad thing. The weather was perfect for a brisk walk.

Pinheads

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

My lunchtime walks are usually a little short than this, but this was not a bad jaunt. Bring some latex gloves if you don't want muddy hands here.

Alien Rover

By: ProTechCC Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I was hiking with a group of cachers after the Before Birthday Breakfast, and headed home before some of the rest. This was just a short detour on my way back, so I stopped by. Thanks!

Tie Exchange

By: EverSeeking Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I didn't bring a tie either, so I left signature turtle #193. Thanks!

Homage to Trolls

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Motorbug and I were the first on scene, and we found it pretty quickly. This allowed us to sit back and needle the rest of group as they searched. After this cache, I headed back, made a short detour for Alien Rover, and headed home. This was my first hike with a group of geocachers, and I had a nice time.

Hike it and Park it.

By: Mystery Ink Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I joined up with a small group for a hike after the Before Birthday Breakfast. There is nothing like hiking with the hider for insurance against DNFs.

Three's Company

By: Mystery Ink Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This one stumped our little troupe for a few minutes, then WoW made the find.

Before Birthday Breakfast

By: Joani Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I enjoyed talking with several folks, and finally headed out for a hike at Almaden Quicksilver.

Nice Park

By: Team_Unicycle Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This nice park is on my way home from work, so I finally made a point to stop by tonight. Thanks!

Raynor Park Dragons

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I was on my way to pick up a part at lunchtime and managed to add this stop to my route. It was probably the lowest terrain rated CKayaks cache I have done lately.
