Sunnyvale Skate Park

By: bullit Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I stopped by at lunchtime, and found it quickly. I found a couple of these buggers over the weekend, so maybe I'm getting better at it, or I was just lucky this time.

BADGES Dinner #6 (South Bay)

By: BADGES Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Thanks to the organizers for putting on a great event, and I enjoyed meeting several cachers I had known only through their logs.

Secret Walkway #6.1 - Los Gatos Creek Trail?

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

With the hint, I concentrated my search in the right area, but it still took a while to find. Thanks!

Travel Bug Trader III

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The area in front of the cache is getting a bit beaten down, but I did my best to be low-impact and to rehide well. I dropped three travel bugs and a Monkey Cache monkey.

Cache Cove

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

No trouble, when you know what you are looking for. Thanks!

Los Gatos Creek - Revisted #5

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I stopped by on a busy Sunday afternoon, but didn't have much trouble grabbing and returning it. Thanks!

WG Portal

By: stbk Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I made a quick stop on a Sunday afternoon. Thanks!

Watto's Junk Yard Cache.

By: Boba Fett Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I made a little cache run this afternoon, and this was the first stop. Thanks!

TC1-2005

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I had just finished TC4, and my shirt was soaked with sweat, so I decided I might as well do another TC. I have been up here a couple times already over the past year, and it always provides a good workout. Took the Slow boat travel bug. Thanks!

Ceara's First Puzzle

By: Ceara (with help from WeBeDnD) Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

Nice pictures! I picked up workerofwood's sig item #15. Thanks!

Fremont Older OSP's Side Door

By: stbk Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I planned to do a couple caches in Fremont Older, and this seemed like the logical trailhead, so I stopped by this morning. No problem with the coordinates or cache. Thanks!

Terrain Challenge 4

By: popeye2 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

My routes in and out were different. I can't say that one was a lot better than the other. Thanks for the hike!

By: trd4me Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Stopped by on the way back to Petaluma from the Cheese Factory. Thanks!

Green Bells

By: Karin S Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We were camped at Wright's Beach, and had seen the chimes from Hwy 1. We made this the first stop on a daytrip down to Point Reyes. Thanks!

Do The Math

By: Haicoole Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

I did the math, and it looks like 41. This cache is much easier than you might think as you drive up. Mrs. Bytemobile found it first, and it was on the ground. I put it back where I thought it fell from. Thanks!

Cable Crossing

By: dgreno Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Mrs. Bytemobile spotted an osprey along Hwy 1, just before we got to the cache parking, then we watched its mate, perched next to the nest, on a pole near the parking area. Thanks!

Tacky Stash #1

By: Novato Larry Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We were looking for a place to eat lunch, and there are lots of choices in this town. We parked, took a short hike to the cache, and ate at the Taqueria. Thanks!

Abandoned Oyster Farm

By: mperc Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Tree trimmers were working here in the morning and were parked in the pullout, so we passed. We came back by here about 6:15 pm, and there was still a little light so we decided to give it a try. Mrs. Bytemobile made it up the ledge and headed for the cache, while I tried wandering around in the growing darkness. Took the Honeymooners travel bug. Thanks!

Children's chimes

By: Haicoole With T Mad Max Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

The web pages stored on my Palm have only the last four logs, so I didn't have SKWERL's coordinates. We hiked along the fence until we were 0.1 mi from the posted coordinates (per Boulter), then started checking trees on both sides. Boy, these are some gnarly trees!

Light Up

By: yfbtanky Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Virtual

We came down for a daytrip from our campsite up near Bodega Bay. We had been on the lookout for whales all week, but learned that February is kind of an off month between the southbound and the northbound migration. Still, Mrs. Bytemobile was persistent, and was the first to spot a whale headed for the point from the south. We watched the whale come around the point, and spotted it all the way around to the beaches north of the point. We were surprised at how closely the whale followed the coastline. This was our first visit to Point Reyes, and we enjoyed coming here.

Adobe Creek Cache

By: Merlin & ceara Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

On the way back, we watched a big brown bunny hop through the field across from the cache. There was a hawk on a lamp pole at the end of the field, probably watching the same thing. Thanks!

Alman Marsh Cache

By: Merlin & ceara Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Mrs. Bytemobile and I were the first to sign on the brand new dry log. Thanks!

Bird's Eye View

By: forman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Mrs. Bytemobile and I headed in to Petaluma for a day trip from our campsite along the coast, and this looked like a perfect spot to park and have a look around. Thanks!

Mr. Petaluma

By: forman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

I left Mrs. Bytemobile at Starbucks, logging on to check her e-mail at work. This was the closest cache, so I walked down and had a look. Thanks!

Purple Motion

By: forman Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I spied the likely spot, grabbed and got nothing, so I grabbed at the other likely spot and got it. Thanks!

River Walk Cache

By: forman Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

This cache is obvious and relatively exposed as you walk along the trail. I was beating the bushes unnecessarily and not finding it, when Mrs. Bytemobile pointed it out. Thanks!

Rouge et Noir

By: LooneyTunes Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Mrs. Bytemobile and I were last here nearly 30 years ago, on the day we first met. Thanks for the memories!

Baulk, Baulk

By: H.Potter Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

We were camped along the coast and came over to Petaluma for a little sightseeing and geocaching. Mrs. Bytemobile had been in this area some time ago for a dog show. Thanks!

Blooming Cachers

By: Haicoole, with the Petaluma Navy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This looks like the hill that time forgot. We stopped in the morning on our way from Bodega Bay to Petaluma, and it was quite peaceful. Thanks!

One Rock, Two Rock, ........

By: bykenut Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Mrs. Bytemobile was driving, so I was free to look for caches, and this one was right along our route. Thanks!

Flat Wake

By: dgreno Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

We parked at the marina, and I got Mrs. Bytemobile this far by showing her there was another geocache just up the trail, then another... I was originally intending to park at Shallenberg Park, but didn't know where it was, and didn't see coordinates posted for it. Thanks!

Stop for the Sea Lions and Pelicans

By: Primate Social Club Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

We stopped for the sea lions and saw a big pile of them on the far side of the river. There was also a big bull laying by himself a ways away. Thanks!

The Idiot

By: Haicoole Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We enjoyed the smells here, but didn't otherwise indulge. The cache was well hidden, but we found it after a short search. Thanks!

The Sixth Dwarf

By: Haicoole, with Junewalker Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was here once before launching a canoe, and wondered what this structure was. Now I know. Thanks!

Special Sebastopol Sculptures

By: Karin S Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

We were staying by the coast and came by here on a day trip. We enjoyed the little hike up and down the street to see something that we would surely have missed without geocaching. Thanks!

Over or Under

By: Ben Ezzell Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

I used this bridge a couple years ago to get to some tennis courts when I was staying at Riverlane resort. Today, Mrs. Bytemobile and I were passing through, on our way back to our coastal campsite from Healdsburg. Thanks!

Starr Pacific

By: mike55, adopted by Team NoBARC Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I was discouraged when we first stopped, because I have spent 20 - 30 minutes on metal structures much smaller than this looking for a micro. Mrs. Bytemobile went right to it, though, and found it right away. Thanks!

Running Fence

By: elkhorn98 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This was our first stop of the morning, heading from our coastal campsite, to Sebastapol, Santa Rosa, and Healdsburg. I remember seening the Running Fence in the papers, but never got up here to see it.

Bigger View

By: BKip (Adopted by The Lazy Sunbathers) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Nice craftsmanship on the cache. This cache was a great incentive to get myself and Mrs. Bytemobile out of the car and up the trail to a bigger view. Thanks!

Bob's Birthday Bache

By: mootman Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This is a great spot for a cache. It provided the incentive for myself and Mrs. Bytemobile to hoof it on up to see the views. Nice view of the marine lab from here, too. Thanks!

The Fifth Dwarf

By: Haicoole Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This was a long hike up the beach from Wright's Beach, where Mrs. Bytemobile and I were camped. We found steps to go up the bluff, and a bridge to get over the creek, found the cache without too much problem. A big black cloud blew over us on the way back and drenched us as we completed our adventure.

Rabbit Eye View

By: Rich Gibson,Maintained by Forman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Large

It is always nice to visit one of the early caches. You probably wouldn't do one quite like this today, but I don't have a problem with it. The paths were not very well worn to the cache. Thanks!

The Hole in the Head

By: roadcow Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Mrs. B and I set up camp at Wright's Beach on Sunday, and came down down to see the sights and geocache today. Had no memory of this project since we both came to California in the early 70's.

Banana Slug Highway

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

My GPSr was leading me all over the place, so I finally concentrated on the hints, found the landmarks, then the cache. I left the Vroom Vroom travel bug. It wants to travel the highways, so I thought the Banana Slug Highway would be appropriate.

Green Finger Alley

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The Portola trail map shows quite an extensive trail system through this area. I'd like to come back and explore some more when it is drier. This trail is still closed to horses, so you'll have to hoof it yourself. Thanks!

Shady Trail

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This town seems to have lots of trails. I'd like to see more of them, maybe when it is a little less wet and muddy.

Sunset Lane

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

My GPSr autorouted me to a deadend with a little parking lot. There were no signs, so I just parked and took a little hike. The trails were a bit muddy, and there were a few drops of rain, but the views were nice. Thanks!

Los Trancos Trek

By: homermayor Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The Creek was running strong this morning. There were a couple guys out before 8 am this morning getting the field ready, but it looked a little soggy to me.

New Life From Old

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I came from the Banana Slug Highway and had to cross the creek. It was pretty high from the rain, and was running over the top of one of the stepping stones, so the crossing was a little exciting. Thanks!

CASA de TABLETA

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Nobody around before 8 am this morning. A dog across the way was the only one who paid me any mind. Took the Vroom Vroom travel bug.

Ma and Pa Stanford's Old Red Barn

By: PisoMojado Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The distance is more like 230 feet. I should have spotted the area indicated by the hint sooner, but didn't see it until I walked around a while. Thanks!

Cache No Cache

By: Dogen Zenji Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This was my first visit to this part of the park. Other trails were muddy this morning, but this one has a pretty high grade road nearly to the cache. Thanks!

Bald Spot

By: payakoi Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

This is quite a nice neighborhood and park. I spotted the cache quickly, and as I was putting it back, the rain started up again. Thanks!

SC-10 - Bracher Park

By: nostrada Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I came out at lunchtime to grab a puzzle cache, struck out, and came by here for a consolation cache. The log was completely soaked and I did a poor job of signing.

Hawaiian Language Lesson #2

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Thanks for the second lesson. I headed out at lunchtime, which happened to be dry for a change, and found it quickly.

Hawaiian Language Lesson #1

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Other

The first time I saw this, I tried to find some online translator help, and wound up with a site that hijacked my browser and threw popups at me. This time, using Firefox, I had better luck with finding a translator, but I really only got the gist of it. No problem finding the cache, though.

Margarita Trail

By: Sharkz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This is a very nice area and a nice path. I wouldn't mind living in this neighborhood. Thanks!

Down, Down, Down!

By: hummingbird jr. Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I stopped by at lunchtime today, and had the playground pretty much to myself. Thanks!

As far as we could go!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The trail was not too muddy today, but I expect it will be later this week. Lots of birds were about and making a racket at lunchtime today.

Historic Palo Alto 3 - RAFAEL ?S RANCHO

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Along the De Anza Trail 7 - Embarcadero

By: MotorBug (a series by Marky & Joani) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The GPSr autorouted me to exactly the right spot for this one. Found it with Mrs. Bytemobile. Thanks!

Olive 2 Pardee

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This one is way easier when it is actually here. Found it with Mrs. Bytemobile.

Sag Ponds on the San Andreas Fault

By: workerofwood adopted by Bootdisk Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

I got up here a little after 8 am on a pretty nice Saturday morning. I have been up here geocaching before, but never hiked the Fault Trail. I spotted a bobcat on the hill above Station 3, but he spotted me about the same time and didn't stay around for a photo. As I was headed back from Station 9, a deer came charging up through the woods, stopped on the trail and had a look at me, then went charging off again. Thanks for your efforts, WoW, in putting together this cache.

Shhh! The Bonus part II

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was just on the other end of this trail about 20 minutes earlier. I followed the directions, and didn't have much trouble finding the cache. Thanks!

Oregon Cache

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I initially missed the trailhead across the street, but found it on the way back. No problems finding the cache. Thanks!

~ Look Out For Flying Needles ~

By: ~ AfricanQueen & Khumbupacesetter ~ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

No one around at 7:30 am on a Saturday morning. I had to look around a bit before I figured out where the cache must be. Thanks!

Achistaca

By: 4wheeler Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I wasted a little time looking for an ammo box, then read the cache page and found it quickly. Thanks!

LT01 Trail Head

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is a tricky hide, and it took me a while to come across it. Thanks!

Deck-View

By: woggs1 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I thought this was a very nice cache -- a scenic hike, and a unique destination. I wish I had taken a picture of the windmill along the way. Thanks!

Meet at the Crossroads.

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

No one was in the immediate area, and I had no trouble spotting it. That was good because I was getting hungry, and this was going to be the last cache for this trip. Thanks!

Troll Lizard

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I guess I was the first one here this morning, a little after 8 am. Grabbed it with no problem. Thanks!

Razorback Ridge

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Very nice area. The ammo box was full, but I didn't take time to go through it after I heard voices down the trail. Thanks!

Woodstone

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I took a little detour on my trip down Skyline this morning to grab this one. Thanks!

Meadow Trail

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I have been caching down this way once before -- it is a nice area. Thanks!

First to sign on new, dry log. Thanks!

Quicksilver Sig Item Trading Post

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The grass was a bit wet this morning. I traded a Ckayaks coin for a California geocoin.

Communication Lines

By: ProTechCC Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Not much activity up here this morning. I think the battles are over, and all the lines seem to be communicating is 10,000 volts. Nice day to be up here, though.

Above Almaden Valley

By: ProTechCC Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I missed the wide, poison oak-free game trail. I found the one that goes under low hanging branches, but I kept heading uphill and eventually made it to the top. It is a nice spot, and I pulled out a bit of my lunch here to munch on. Thanks!

Assume Nothing #7: WoW's 45th Birthday Micro-Multi

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Not chosen

I doubt if a normal person would plan to spend his day off doing this, so I told Mrs. Bytemobile, as she was getting ready for work, only that I was heading to Almaden Quicksilver. I thought the probability of my getting 45 finds in a row without a DNF was about zero, so I headed out with the attitude that I would do as much as I could, then come home for a nap and try again another day. I managed to muddle through, with good coordinates, and generous hints. I took along the spreadsheet and filled it out as I went along. Thanks CKayaks! I left a California geocoin, and took a CKayaks coin. Congrats, WoW, and I hope you try this hike again when you are 54.

Los Capitancillos Ridge

By: ckayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

This is the time of year I like to hike up here. Just the right temperature for hiking. The sky was overcast, but the views were still not bad. Thanks!

Missing: One Horse

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I spotted some fawn remains on the way over to this one. I wonder if there are mountain lions in the area?

Treehouse Hill

By: DougK Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Wow, these are some old oaks on the hill. I used the cache camera to take picture of me and the mustard plants, but I doubt if it was well framed. Thanks.

Above the Mine

By: ProTechCC Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I came in from the dam, but hiked up the trail, grabbed another cache and came at this one from above. Thanks!

Jack's Jack O'Lantern

By: The Petoskey Stones Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I headed out early for a day of caching in Almaden Quicksilver, and made this my first stop. Thanks!

Almaden & Almaden, New Almaden

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The hint homed me in to the right location, but the cache was very well concealed, and still took a little while to find. Thanks!

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I came by too early to see the museum, but will return sometime to visit. Thanks!

Missing Limb

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I signed a few caches last weekend just after Jug & Roon, including the first stage of this one, then met them at Original Arches. I waited until today to come down for this one, and it is quite an interesting spot.

SC-15 - Intel Museum - LC

By: nostrada Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I decided to check out the museum at lunchtime today. I parked at the cache, which seems to be about the closest parking. I had a look around, pushed a few buttons, and listened to some of the presentations. If I had had more time, I would have taken the 1 pm tour. Thanks!

I decided to have a look at the Intel Museum at lunchtime, and this made a nice stop along the way.

Sunnyvale Technology Museum

I may have seen that early Apple board or one like it, displayed by Steve and Steve in the lobby of the SLAC auditorium, at meetings of the Homebrew Computer Club. At the time, I didn't think much of their work, which was aimed at keeping the parts count and cost down, because I had a more modular and expandable system, the IMSAI 8080. Thanks for the fun.

Volumes of the Official Gazette continue their march to the basement as new volumes come in. Volumes for 1990 and later are currently upstairs, but I had no trouble getting someone to retrieve the volume in question from the basement. I think it was my natural charm and winning smile [:D]. I has been a while since I was a regular visitor here. Thanks!

Julian's End

The last time I was in the area, I passed on the cache because of the two officers sitting at the table across from the cache. This time, there were still lots of people, but I used my smoothest move.

I was spotted putting the cache back by four geocachers, (Three of whom had already logged it.) I had a nice chat with them, and was able to glean a hint for the Tamien Station cache, which I had missed finding a little earlier. Thanks!

I had trouble with this one, gave up, and went on to other caches. I was able to get some info from some cachers I met at Original Arches, and came back for a quick find. Thanks!

I found it without too much trouble. I did Earth yesterday, and I'll have to check what I have left to do in this series. Thanks!

I think this one gets watered regularly. I dumped the water out of the cache. The log was still usable. Thanks!

I was waiting for some glasses at Lenscrafters, and decided to hike for a couple caches. Some day I will finish this series. Shortly after I left the cache, I met a group of new cachers and had a nice chat.

Earth Red

I thought I knew what I was looking for, and exactly where it was from Terraserver, but I had a limited amount of time to search, and had no luck. It was a nice lunchtime to be out by the bay, though.

MiddleField Madness

Just before noon, I checked for new caches near my work, and by golly, there were two. I turned this one into a short hike by coming in the Creekside Park entrance. Thanks!

East Evelyn Oaks

Very nice work on the container! I thought it was just a little too exposed, so I returned it to a state where you have to look a little closer to spot it. Thanks!
