At What Cost?

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Came by here for a consolation cache after striking out on a nearby puzzle cache. Thanks!

Google Falls

By: MadDad (maintained by bullit) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Very peaceful area, with a few folks wandering around at lunchtime today. Thanks!

Zeno's Paradox

By: Chris & Janet Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is also about the third time I've been here. Today, I was hopeful that the cache might be here, but I sure couldn't spot it.

Pete's Castle

By: Mr. Ranger Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I have been by here before, but didn't pay any attention to this structure. Thanks!

Llama View

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

The llama was out this morning, and so was a big deer with a huge rack in a nearby field. Thanks!

JESTER

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I found a tool on the web to make the substitutions, and found the cryptogram to be quite solvable without using the keyword as a starting point. It was all very satisfying when everything worked out. Thanks!

The Sound of Silence

By: Linc-Clan Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My GPSr said I was much closer on the wrong side, so it took me a while to come around. When I did, the cache was a quick find. Thanks!

Byrne Preserve Ski Jump

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

After finding this one, I decided to hike on over to "Pet Lovers". I was amazed at how extensive the trails are back here. Thanks!

The Lord of the Ring

By: Linc-Clan (adopted by ed777) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I was impressed by this one. The path is well worn now, so it's not too hard to figure out where to go. Thanks!

Los Altos Hills Pathways: Artemas Ginzton Pathway

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is a trailhead I hadn't seen before. The trail was quite muddy today, though. Thanks!

The Purple Heart

By: boulter Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I missed the meaning of the hint, but parked close by and found the cache quickly. I have been fortunate in my geocaching adventures so far, with nothing more than a little soreness and an elbow scrape.

Pet Lovers

By: scrgeo (adopted by atc) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I hiked on over from "Byrne Preserve Ski Jump". The trails around here are amazing extensive, and amazingly muddy today. Thanks!

State of Confusion

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This is another puzzle I took along for a plane ride. I had to wait till I got home, however, to gather the info to complete the solution. Made a quick drive by pickup this morning. Thanks!

Why isn't there a cache here?

By: boulter Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

This was my second stop of the day, and it still looked like rain was coming. I came over from Lone Pine, and it sure seemed like a through trail for me. Thanks!

Wild Turkey

By: Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I picked the wrong parking spot, and hiked up a steep trail after a long hike through Stevens Canyon and Fremont Older. I missed this little spot on my previous caching trip to this area. Thanks!

Lost Trail

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

I didn't read the cache page or hint before wandering a little off trail, but found the cache just as I got back to the trail. Thanks!

Lone Pine Overlook

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

It looked like rain this morning, but I headed out for a hike anyway. This was my first stop, and I took a few minutes to have a look over at TC1-2005, to see how to approach it. Certainly only a billy goat would come from this side, so I filed a picture of it away for another day. Thanks!

Over Here

By: Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

There was a handy stick, ready to poke around in the place where the cache isn't. I poked a little, then looked around, and found the cache in a better spot. Thanks!

We chose poorly

By: mfc61 and The Petoskey Stones Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

After I found it, I thought it was an easy hide, but meanwhile, I had to go through a systematic search to find it. Thanks!

Maisie's Peak

By: Sharkz & bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

The rain was pretty much over, and the view was not too bad. This was my first time up this part of the trail. Thanks!

PG & E 118

By: Sharkz & bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Stopped by on the way back to Villa Maria. The rain was pretty much done and it was a nice day for a hike. Thanks!

Is this the beginning or the end?

By: Sharkz & bullit Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was the beginning and the end for me. I forgot it coming in, but remembered on the way out. Thanks!

No Brakes!

By: bullit & Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

Dropped Binky Bug and picked up Bello travel bug.

No Brakes!

By: bullit & Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Small

As I approached the cache, there was a clap of thunder and a light rain started up. Hmm, was that an omen? I considered for a moment whether I should cut short my hike, but decided that walking in the rain wouldn't be so bad, and I can do anything I want on my day off. Thanks!

By: bullit & Sharkz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

The rain was still coming down, but I wanted to make full use of the $5 parking fee I paid at Stevens Canyon. Thanks!

Bee Sting

By: bullit & Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

As I approached the cache I realized that some months ago I had come this far on my bike from the Prospect Road entrance to Fremont Older. The rain was going steady and I was happy to be on foot because of both the mud and the terrain. Dropped Bella travel bug.

Stevens Creek Spillway

By: bullit & Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I stopped for this one on my way back to the Villa Maria picnic area. It wasn't too hard to spot. Thanks!

Nob Hill

By: stbk Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I decided to keep on hiking from Maise's Peak, even though I could have come closer with the car. This was my turn around point for the hike back to Stevens Canyon and Villa Maria. This was my first visit to this area, and even though it was a bit muddy today, it was nice. Thanks!

SPELEOTHEM!

By: montythemule & Chick-N-Rock Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I came up this road once before, but missed the speleothem. I guess I must have been looking at the road. Thanks for the geology lesson, and the trip to an interesting spot!

Crossings Circle

By: RodnSon Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I stopped by on a lunchtime cache run. No problem finding this one!

Crossing Adobe

By: techie Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I have been here before for another cache, but I came from the other direction and didn't see the plaque. This is a neat spot and deserves a cache. Thanks!

Portkey

By: zapboy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My favorite thing about geocaching is that it gets me outdoors quite often, hiking and biking along trails I haven't visited before, and in weather that I would normally be home, vegging in front of the TV. Thanks!

Point of Light - Palo Alto Tower of Mystery

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I have been meaning to stop by this one for some time. It popped up along my route as I was heading for another cache, so I stopped by to give it a shot. I read the hints, and spotted it without too much trouble. Thanks!

POP #5

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This puzzle rode along for a second plane ride in the last six months, and it finally graduated to the solved puzzles folder. My first visit to the cache site was unproductive, and I asked the cache owner for another hint. I will blame my problems on a full parking lot and a failure to expand my search area. Thanks for the fun!

SC-14 - Finding a race track?

By: nostrada (adopted by Frivlas and OneAngryPupp Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Great idea! This was a lot of fun. I headed out and found it at lunchtime today.

No Name (yet?) Park

By: Jim and Jeanette Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

A puzzle cache brought me to the general area at lunchtime today, and I thought I would look for a few others while I was at it. Thanks!

Urban Assault #17

By: Ruprex and his Girl Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I came out at lunchtime today to find a puzzle cache, and this was the next nearest, so I came by. Thanks!

ReMorse on a Road to Nowhere

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I should have solved this one when it first came out. The primary clue popped out at me as I went through my folder of unsolved puzzles on a flight back to New Jersey. The cache location turned out to be just a short walk from work. Thanks!

POP #4

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I'm sure the person in the next seat thought thought I was a bit odd as I worked this puzzle on a flight to Newark. This is the second flight I've taken it along, and finally something clicked. Thanks!

SC-13 - Forgotten Park - LCs

By: nostrada (adopted by Team Nazgul) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The cache was laying in the open on the ground, so I moved it a foot or so back to where it might have come from.

SC-9 - Westwood Park

By: nostrada Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was another quick stop on my Sunday afternoon tour of Santa Clara. Thanks!

SC-5 - Harris Lass Museum - LCs

SC-3 - Find #2 and LC

By: nostrada (adopted by shadow101) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This spot was like deja vu all over again. Not too busy here on a Sunday afternoon. Thanks!

SC-2 - Villa Locationless

By: nostrada (maintained by shadow101) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I didn't want to hang around here long, and fortunately, I hit paydirt on my first grab. Nice container!

SC-1 - Debra's Garden

By: nostrada Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Interesting little spot. I made a quick grab with the hint. Thanks!

That is your story?

By: nostrada (adopted by OneAngryPuppy and Frivla Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

BirdLoverSara's story: "This must be where the cops hide out to track the number of people who go over 80 mph on San Thomas." This is obviously nonsense because cops don't need to hide out to catch speeders here. They can just drive down the expressway, and people will pass them.

SC-7 - Transit Center

By: nostrada (adopted by budd-rdc) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This area was not busy on a Sunday afternoon, and I was able to park next to the cache. Thanks!

SC-11 - Take me to the moon

By: nostrada (adopted by Team Nazgul) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

By: nostrada (adopted by Frivlas & OneAngryPuppy) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

SC-8 - Remember the Carli Field Lizards?

By: nostrada (adopted by Bughound) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I think I was a little lucky on this one. I decided where to look, then got it from the second place I grabbed. Thanks!

Free WiFi, but only for some

By: stbk Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

After three weeks in New Jersey, I did a little catch-up caching by taking a tour of Santa Clara, and this one took me back to where I came in yesterday. Thanks!

Diatte FUN BOX

By: dheeke (Adopted by Bughound) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I think this is the only regular-sized cache I saw on my tour of Santa Clara this afternoon. Made no exchanges. Thanks!

What is your story?

By: nostrada (adopted by OneAngryPuppy and Frivla Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Back in the 50s when San Tomas Expressway was being built, a large area was dug deep in the ground and a huge bomb shelter was built. This building is the entrance to the shelter.

Manasquan River Flood Plain

By: Team Polak Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The mud was frozen early this morning, so I didn't have much trouble with it. Thanks!

Steaming through the Pines

By: NJmtber (Quin) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I'm here on business from California, and spent the morning caching in Allaire. I was here early and there weren't too many folks around, but there were five deer grazing in the big grassy area. Left USA Geocoin #12346. Thanks!

Moss-itively Easy!

By: Family5 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I'm here on business from California, and spent the morning hiking and caching in Allaire. This was a nice cache, just off the trail. Thanks!

Allaire Electric

By: KNR (Maintained by Ekitt10) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I'm here on business from California, and spent the morning caching at Allaire. At "Where Are We", I was .45 miles from this one, so I decided to come on over. I saw lots of bike riders on the way. Thanks!

Not too many places to hide

By: J & B Super Sleuths Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I'm here on business from California, and decided to spend the morning hiking and caching at Allaire. I tried to take a picture with the camera, but it was out of film. There seemed to be a couple film containers in another bag, but my fingers were getting to cold to investigate. Took geocoin #12346.

Quaker Burial Ground - 1778

By: tneigel Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I'm here on business from California, and this sounded like an interesting spot. I made this my first stop on a frosty Sunday morning, and had no trouble with traffic. Thanks!

WTC-911

By: DreamChazer Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I had big trouble with this one, but finally expanded my search a little and found it. My really big trouble was in getting back to my car. I wandered out on the golf course, then back down to the river, over a log, through a bog, then back to a trail. Thanks for the adventure!

Where Are We?

By: DreamChazer Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

As the crow flies, this is fairly close to "I lost my marbles". Unfortunately, this old crow doesn't fly, but I did find a log to cross the river, and found a trail on the other side. Thanks!

I Lost My Marbles on Gilligan's Island (uC#2)

By: marathon_man & Family Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

I'm here on business from California, and I've seen a lot of damp cache logs, but this is the first damp, frozen log I've seen. I pried it apart and found a spot to sign. Normally these containers are fairly water tight. At some point, it must not have been fully closed. I didn't have much trouble with the crossing. Thanks!

Merlin's Realm

By: merlinskeepers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The cache was a fairly easy hike after I figured out where to park. Saw a couple with a big dog who looked like he would take a bite out of me if he had half a chance. Made no trades. Thanks!

off to work I go

By: angryEMT Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Not a soul around on this frosty Saturday morning. I got a good angle and spotted the cache after a little looking around. Thanks!

angryEMT's old stomping grounds

By: angryEMT Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was my challenge of the morning. My GPSr autorouted me to promising cul-de-sac, but it turned out that I was on the wrong side of the river. I drove around, hiked out to the cache, and found that high water had made the cache site into an island. I bridged the gap with a big branch, and found the cache after getting up close and personal with some greenbriars. Thanks for the adventure!

ALL'S WELL TOUCHDOWN

By: DaddyBird & MOMof3EMT Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The posted coordinates are about 150 feet from the cache. Used Team Chumly's to find it.

Bridge Over Troubled Geocache Seekers Water?

By: muddy boots Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

No one around but the Canadian geese this frosty morning. Found the cache quickly, made no trades. Thanks!

BLUEBERRY BONES

By: MOMof3EMT & DaddyBird Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The coordinates are not great on this one, but found it after wandering around a bit. Thanks!

The Cache

By: gurb Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I brought my rented minivan in as far as "Skippy in the Wild", then decided to hike on in to this one. The cache was lying exposed on the ground, so I picked it up and put it where I thought it had been. Thanks!

Greyflank's Second Cache

By: Greyflank Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I wandered a little before finding the park entrance, then three caches here were straightforward. Thanks!

Crossley Kids

By: Team Bayberry Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I'm here on business from California, and getting a little caching in on the weekends. I decided to call it a day and was headed back to the hotel when I spotted this one just off the highway I was travelling. All the water filled holes in the road were a little intimidating, so I left my rented car near the entrance and hiked in. The hints were great, and I followed them exactly. Thanks!

OLD STAGE 7 OF THE 2003 CACHE HUNT

By: Geoman007 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Other

I'm here on business from California, and getting a little caching in on the weekends. The park was pretty quiet this frosty morning, and I had no trouble with muggles or caches here. Thanks!

Skippy in the WILD

By: DreamChazer Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I'm here on business from California, and this was an adventure in my rented minivan. The road was fine at the beginning, then the water filled holes got bigger, and the sand got deeper. I forged on, however, and parked near the cache. It is well concealed, so it took a bit of poking around to find it. Thanks!

BIG OLD DEAD CACHE

By: themagician Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I'm here on business from California and getting a little caching in on the weekends. This cache is a nice little hike in the woods after a drive by a scenic lake. Thanks!

Secret Hideaway in the Pines

By: muddy boots Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Willpower in Waretown

By: ski Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

This was a nice long walk in the woods, but I was hoping to see something more interesting at the end of it. The cache was in great shape. I disagree with the previous finder about a small car being able to make it -- you definitely need a high clearance vehicle. I recommmend hiking from the tennis courts. I also think the difficulty rating is too high by a couple stars, and the terrain rating it a bit high also. Thanks for the cache!

Feelin Buggy at Eno's Pond

By: muddy boots Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I'm here on business from California, and getting a little caching in on the weekends. I thought this was a great park with a little of everything. Found the cache without too much trouble, but didn't really get the hints. Thanks!

Forgery at the Forge?

By: muddy boots (Adopted by Arrow One) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was here early in the morning, and there was already someone here, just sitting in his pickup truck. I had a look at the river, then circled back for the cache. I think the difficulty rating is too high by a couple stars. Thanks!

Dover Forgery

By: angryEMT Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was a nice little hike on a chilly morning. I'm on a business trip from California, and getting a little caching in on the weekends. I spotted the cache after a little looking around, about 15 feet from where I zeroed out. Thanks!

CAT & DOG HOTEL

By: MOMof3EMT (Adopted by Arrow One) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Double Trouble Cranberry Bogs

By: Highpointer Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The hike was a bit chilly this morning, but I had gloves and a hat, so I was comfortable. I picked up a cranberry for a souvenir to take back to California. I didn't even have a single trouble finding the cache. TNLN. Thanks!

Just a few folks on the boardwalk this rainy Saturday morning. I'm getting my first taste of New Jersey geocaching on a business trip from California. Made no exchanges. Thanks!

Bay Head Micro Cache

I'm on a work assignment here from California, and this is my first day off. The rain was a not much of a problem this morning; it is probably raining harder in California. I would call this a small cache rather than a micro. Thanks!

My first New Jersey cache, early in the morning with a discouraging light rain. I'll be working here a couple more weeks, and hope to find a few more caches. Thanks!

My second New Jersey cache find. The top was off, but the plastic bag kept the log dry. I dumped the water out of the cache and put the lid back on. Thanks!

The Sentence

I prefer not to ask for hints because it detracts from my sense of accomplishment when I solve a puzzle. I do, however, put puzzles on my watchlist, and eagerly read the latest logs. The last log spurred me to have another look at this one, and it started me on the path to a solution. Another masterful puzzle by the master. Thanks!
