Ultimate Battleship: (No) Weapons Depot

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I parked close to the cache, and when I returned from a second cache in the area, the Fogheads pulled up behind me and we chatted a bit. The cache still has a good supply of ammo. TNLN. Thanks!

Return to Hamburger Hill

By: Mohetka Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

With so many cachers plunking away at battleships, this seemed like an appropriate one to do today. Left Black Echo #52. Thanks!

Dollar Tree

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I biked on over from Squigams, and found it quickly. Thanks!

Solar Power

By: kirs Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I did a little untangling so the next cacher would have no problems. The cache top was jambed on so tight, I had to get out a tool to loosen it. Nobody around on this Sunday morning. Thanks!

Ultimate Battleship: H5

By: John Jones Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my first stop on a morning caching run and it was still a bit nippy out. Thanks!

William's Cache

By: Lewa Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This one threw me for a few minutes because I zeroed out on an identical object about 20 feet away, but I eventually checked and found it. Thanks!

Urban Assault #16

By: Ruprex and his Girl Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I biked around to several nearby caches, and grabbed this one along the way. Thanks!

Watershed Down

By: Mohetka Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Very cool cache! I probably wouldn't have spent the time going through the maze without a cache incentive. TNLN. Thanks!

Almaden Station

By: Stacy & Jerry; Adopted by cachbefound Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I found a convenient parking lot nearby to pull out my bike and do several caches in the area. Thanks!

Silence of the Lambs

By: DR. Doolittle, the Mrs. & Zoo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I rode my bike over from Almaden Station, and spotted it quickly. Thanks!

Squigams

By: cathysch Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This cache is jam packed with stuff. Had a little trouble screwing the lid back on. TNLN. Thanks!

Lobster Tale

By: DR. Doolittle, the Mrs. and Zoo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Very nice cammo, but had to work at extracting the cache. Nobody around on this Suncay morning. Thanks!

"Skid A Ma Rink"

By: Team Weirdwonz & Weird-O Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was on the wrong side of the stream, so it took a while to get around to the right area, but found it quickly once I was there. TNLN. Thanks!

By: Alan Smithee Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Another blast at somebody's navy, I guess. Thanks!

Ultimate Battleship: Fuel Depot

By: Alan Smithee Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I joined a group of three cachers looking for the cache, and one of the geobrowns spotted it first. Looks like a lot of folks are out on the battlefield today. Thanks!

Ultimate Battleship: L13

By: Alan Smithee Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Thanks for the quickie. I am plunking away at those battleships this afternoon.

Lion's Pride

By: I_LiKe_PiE and TeamMissyGirl Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Ultimate Battleship: J15

By: Alan Smithee Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Pure Country

By: Two Hawks & Alaster Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

It was a nice morning for a hike, and an interesting little trail. A couple of horses with riders passed by as I was signing the cache. Thanks!

Rocky Ridge

By: Two Hawks Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

It took me a while, but I finally overcame the hex. Thanks!

By: Mr. Beacon Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I thought the cache was in a perfectly good spot, with good coordinates. Thanks!

Rincon Hump

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Syngnathus fuscus

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The skate park was closed today, so the fishing was fairly undisturbed. I made my own gear; couldn't find those provided. Thanks for something interesting!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This looks like a prop from a computer adventure game. Thanks!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I wandered around a bit and was beginning to get discouraged, but I sat down with my Palm, read the hint, which I hadn't fully remembered, and found the cache fairly quickly. Thanks!

Are We Dizzy Yet?

By: kablooey Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

It took a couple hints and a number of months, but I finally logged this one. Not many folks around the cache site early this Thanksgiving morning. Thanks for the puzzle!

Cool cache! I found it quickly with the hints. Thanks!

Indy's Hideout

By: Geo Indy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Campbell Park Troll

By: Jim and Jeanette Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I stopped by months ago with no luck. This time I got a good fix from on top of the bridge, decided where to search, and turned off the GPSr. The coordinates were great when used like this. Thanks!

Walkway to Loyola

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Nov 23, 2004

JPC #1 - Sea of Ivy

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Stopped by at lunchtime today. I narrowed down the search area pretty fast, but it took a while to spot. I took the Black Echo token since it was going to be a problem putting it back. Thanks!

Nov 22, 2004

Sunnyvale history

By: CTomGeo Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

This provided a nice little lunchtime walk and diversion. The instructions are not terrible tricky, but based on my misstep, I recommend actually reading them instead of assuming you know what they say. Thanks!

Nov 20, 2004

flower childs peace corp

By: child of the damned Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I guess I found it. Wirebndr and I found a cache with the title "No Touch!" written on the orange top of the clear plastic container. The log sheet had the entries of digitalfish and Piso Mojado. I picked up the cache on a little sand bar in the middle of the creek, a little downstream from where I thought "flower childs peace corp" should be. Since the cache would be gone with the next rain, I moved it to higher ground and e-mailed the new location to the owner so he can re-hide.

Coastside Trail Cache

By: enfuego Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This was my second attempt. I was camped at Francis Beach, and walked down with Wirebndr. This really wasn't that hard and I thought sure I had looked there before. Thanks!

Nov 19, 2004

Tall Trees

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I was tired from a lot of hiking, but had to get just one more before heading home. Thanks!

Yes, Up There! Really!!

By: GeoROCKS! and Equinox 2002 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

The coordiates were right on so I didn't have any doubt as to where to climb. Getting up was easy, but the climb down was a wee bit more tricky. Thanks for the challenge!

Gimme Shelter

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

I have been to this shelter before, but it was at least 10 years ago, with two young sons. Thanks for the return trip.

WalruZ Rock

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

Found it quickly with the hint. Left digital fish #1135.

No Bungee Jumping Allowed

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

There was no one around today except some climbers below the platform, so I had no problem searching, and I found it after checking a number of spots.

Exiting the Goat

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Thanks for the waypoint. This is definitely the best way back to the car after a long day of hiking.

Scott's 2.5

By: NiteCrawler Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

After finally getting the travel bug, I stopped by this morning for a quick find. The cache is somewhat exposed at the moment.

Nov 17, 2004

This is art, no doubt. Thanks for a nice lunchtime walk.

Runnway2

By: TIMNKRIS Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This is a nice place for a cache -- interesting location, and not many folks around. Thanks!

Play Ball!

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Stopped by at lunchtime today. Someone should take the yo-yo hanging with the cache since it wrecks the cammo.

Nov 16, 2004

Permanent Diversion

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I came by for a lunchtime diversion. Thanks!

Mountain View's Smallest Park?

By: jrb_net Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Whisman Whimsey

By: trode Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I plopped down on the wet grass to drop out of the line of sight of someone parked in the lot, and spotted it immediately. Thanks!

Stacey's walkway

By: garyhenry Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I've seen this before, and laid eyes on it in seconds. Thanks!

House of the King

By: trode Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

This is certainly a well-engineered cache. I dropped by for a lunchtime diversion. Thanks!

$80 Million Later...

By: Equinox 2002 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

What luck! I have been watching Simon & Ma for months, and it shows up in the ammo box closest to my work. I picked it up at 7 am this morning.

Nov 14, 2004

San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail: Great America

By: bullit and mickeychopchop Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I didn't think the container was that hard to remove, and I like the location better than the other nearby spot, although I did look there first. Thanks!

Jolly Micro

By: The Petoskey Stones Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The hint was exactly what I needed to straight for this one. Thanks!

Rabbits For Rosco

By: RoscoC Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I saw lots of ground squirrels and a big hawk watching from the top of the hill, but no rabbits today. TNLN. Thanks!

Grant Park

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This one blends in nicely with its surroundings. Picked up Digitalfish #1135. Thanks!

Cali Mill Plaza

By: stbk Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I headed out about 9 am and made this my first stop. I decided pretty quickly the sort of place it had to be, and managed to connect after a few tries.

San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail: End of the trail

By: bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I was by here a few weeks ago at noontime during a weekday, but was reluctant to look for the cache directly in front of a worker sitting in truck. Today, it was a piece of cake. Thanks!

Not So Secret Walkway

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I think the only way to find this is by spending some time and searching thoroughly. I finally caught a tiny glint of color and found it. Thanks for the challenge!

Marble Madness

By: cth+js Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

Ths cache was on the ground, but it blends in well, so I didn't try to find a new hiding place. Thanks!

End of the Road

By: blackfrancis, adopted by Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I think this is one of the oldest caches I have found. It was a nice day for a little bike ride along the bay. Thanks!

Nov 13, 2004

Gullo Park

By: Mauison Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Today was a day for mostly homeowner's chores, but I got away in the afternoon to grab a couple quickies. Thanks!

A Day At The Races

By: Mallrat46 & 2 & Frankenlurch Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I tried this one months ago with no luck, but it was about the second place I looked today. Thanks!

Nov 12, 2004

Slackers

By: atc Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

According to the Orchard Supply commercial, "The answers are out there", but it took me a while to find them. I used to come by here in the '70s to attend meetings of the Homebrew Computer Club. Thanks for a nice puzzle and a nice cache location.

Sharon ?s Buckeye Grove

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was in the area at lunchtime for a puzzle cache, and decided to pick up a couple more. The park was very quiet and a little damp from the rain. Thanks!

Sharon ?s Valley View

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Great spot for a cache, and a nice job of crafting one for this location. Thanks!

Nov 11, 2004

Magic Forest

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The forest was especially magical today with a little rain. Steam was rising from the nearby pool as noontime swimmers did a few laps. Thanks!

root of my root

By: rootroof Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

The gardens were pretty nice even in the rain. Thanks!

Homage to Silence

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

There was a little light rain to contend with at noontime today, but it was still a nice walk in the park. Thanks!

Nov 8, 2004

Stevenson Surprise

By: ladybug54 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Made a quick find on a lunchtime outing. Thanks for the fun.

WALK YOUR BIKE

By: trode Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

No problem grabbing this one on a lunchtime stroll. The workers were quite close, but I doubt if they paid any attention to me. Thanks for the fun.

Mainline weaving operations

By: trode Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I spent more than my usual ten minute limit here since I had aready invested time in gathering the coordinates, but the hint didn't do the trick and the power line and tree cover added some uncertainty to the location.

Nov 5, 2004

The Temple

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This is a very neat place. I never knew it existed. Found the cache after a bit of poking around. Thanks for showing me this interesting spot.

HMB Hoosegow

By: digitalfish Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

We are camping this weekend at Francis Beach, and this was my first objective after setting up camp. Found it fairly quickly.

Water Dog Lake

By: NavySparks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

This is an interesting little canyon that seems to be a wild oasis surrounded by development. Thanks for a nice hike and cache.

Still Standing

By: Woof! Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This cache cost me about a hundred bucks. I noticed that they were having a holiday boutique at the White House this weekend and next, and mentioned it to Mrs. Bytemobile when I got back. We came back on Saturday and loaded up on handmade Christmas items.

Can You Do the Cam Can?

By: TBD & D Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This was the first time I noticed this place. We considered coming back here for dinner, but we ended up picking up takeout at 3 Amigos. TNLNSL. Thanks for the cache.

Barnstormer Cache

By: enfuego Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

There was a sign at the trailhead that police training was in progress. While I was at the cache site, they opened up at the firing range: blam-blam ping, blam ping, then the brrrrrrp of automatic fire. When I first got to the cache site, my GPSr was pointing about 20 feet into the poison oak an berry vines, but I poked around until I had the right angle, and found it in a much nicer spot. Thanks for a nice bike ride and cache.

Queche Sera Serra - Northbound

By: PisoMojado Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

All the parking places were full at this vista point at 10:15 am on a Friday morning. This seems to be an informal guys-only type of meeting place.

Cross Country

By: MikieP Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Virtual

I didn't spot the trailhead the first time by, but when I came back, there were SUVs and minivans disgorging young people in athletic uniforms. I joined the procession to the cache site, and evidently a meet was about to start. Fortunately, I didn't have to skulk around and find anything, just take notes about the sign. This looks like a great place to run. I participated in this sport myself for four years in high school.

Tube

By: McGrude-n-Nif (adopted by mjp303) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

Cool spot for a cache. This was my last of the afternoon, and it made a nice one to end on. TNLNSL.

Circular beach reasoning

By: Skunkerkids Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This was a great day to cache along the beach. I left the cache inverted so that rain would not come through the holes in the lid. The contents were a bit damp, but the log was still serviceable. Thanks for the cache.

Nov 3, 2004

Rusty Spoons

By: stbk Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I made a quick tour of Sunnyvale at lunchtime. Thanks for the fun!

Barely Secret Walkway

By: katiecacher Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I found it in about 30 seconds using the excellent hint. Very innovative hide! I had a bit of trouble forcing out the log, but eventually it yielded.

Hoss & Little Joe's Geeky Tiki

By: The Petoskey Stones Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I didn't have much trouble with this one as I made a quick lunchtime stop. TNLNSL. Thanks for a nice cache.

Once an Orchard

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Once I found a parking place, the find was fairly quick. There were a couple muggles I had to wait for before replacing the cache.

Gateway of Dreams II

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I didn't see how to use the hint, but I did find the gateway. Thanks for one that was a little out of the ordinary.

Patience

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I am reminded of a Far Side cartoon where two vultures are waiting and one says, "The heck with patience, I'm gonna kill something." After losing my patience, I pulled out my toolbox and started taking things apart.

Nov 1, 2004

Chucky

By: GeoROCKS! Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Nice throw! When I got to the cache area, at first I distrusted my work, but I finally decided to go with it and the cache finally turned up. This was fun because it was a little out of the ordinary.
