Travel Bugs Rock

By: homermayor Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This was a great afternoon for a bike ride on campus. Thanks for the cache incentive.

Plan For a Miracle

By: DrHugAlot Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My feet found the words, but not the cache, so I got down and let my hands do the dirty work.

MAYA'S TIME

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

The Stanford Palo Altos can be seen from my wife's office in Jordan Hall. She says this area is called the "Biology Ear" (Palm Loop is the head) and that the area is frequented by a hawk and a raccoon. I enjoyed doing this cache on my bike on a warm Sunday afternoon.

Secret Garden

By: Spider Woman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Some of the specimens in this garden are giant old monsters. Thanks for a nice cache.

Leland's Curios

By: markens Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

This was a nice Sunday afternoon for wandering around campus and doing some caching. Thanks for the tour.

Dr. Mahoney Baloney

By: DrHugAlot Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This one took me a while. The cache is very well done and should last for some time.

Stanford Hospital Parking Lot

By: kablooey Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I would call this a low tech art installation, but fun none the less. Thanks for the cache incentive to visit.

Serpentine Loop

By: DrHugAlot Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I let my GPSr autoroute me here, and call out the many turns to make it to this out-of-the-way trailhead.

Songs from the Edge

By: TeamMachak and ClarkFamily Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This was my first visit to this park, and the view was great today.

Big Canyon

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

My GPSr didn't have a very good idea of where the trailhead was, but I eventually happened upon it. No problems finding the cache.

Eaton's Other End

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I headed over here after Big Canyon. This should have been much easier than it was. Sometimes you just can't trust your eyes, and you need to reach out and poke it.

Eaton Again

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I found this one quicker than Eaton's Other End. Sometimes it helps to have a cacher's eye.

Bay Area Multiple Hills - 1

By: Mhop Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Great view from here today. No problem finding the cache -- it is fairly visible.

Eaton's Eden

By: sfaisdg Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Both stages were fairly quick finds, although I had to do a bit of paperwork after finding the first stage.

RWC Hills Beacon - Endangered Landmark

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Geocaching takes you to such interesting spots. I don't think I even noticed this hill before.

Body by Jake

By: stbk Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I took a break this afternoon to do a few caches, and this was the first. Without a hint, I wandered around a little, but eventually homed in.

Wag That Tail -- Then Pick it Up

By: garyhenry Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My GPSr routed me around to the back side of the park to an entrance close to the cache, making this pretty easy.

Put one on the BBQ

By: garyhenry Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I took a break from my chores this afternoon and got a little caching fix.

The People Zone Two + A Walkway

By: garyhenry Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I did in fact find the first People Zone, and found this one right away.

Aug 21, 2004

Acacia's Cache

By: wallywiz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I guess we started from the wrong trailhead since we had to take a little trail through the bushes before spotting the baseball field and barn. Mrs. Bytemobile spotted it right off.

Gilroy Garlic

By: Pedalman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Mrs. Bytemobile and I were doing some shopping today in Gilroy, and I managed to get us out here for a quick cache fix. Thanks.

Aug 18, 2004

A Harry Badge

By: BADGES Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Just after I headed out for this cache, Mrs. Bytemobile said the Bayarea Backroads photographer showed up to a nearly empty room in Harry's.

Aug 16, 2004

Nail Behind Oakland

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was by here when the cache first came out, but had no luck. I got some anagram help from batecher at the BADGES event, and my second visit was more fruitful.

St. Joseph's Hill Open Space Preserve ~ MROSD

By: MROSD (adopted from Marky & Joani, and friend Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I had been caching in this open space before, but didn't come to the top because a cache didn't take me there. Thanks for a cache in a great spot.

Are you game?

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This is a nice spot for a cache -- off the trail for privacy but not in deep brush.

ET Trek, Turn Here

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I also made less than a grand exit, slipping down on my backside, just as a jogger came around the bend.

Santa Clara Valley View

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This was a great place to stand and enjoy the view while the joggers and bikers passed by this busy Sunday morning.

Lexington Forebay

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

My coordinates were .742 and .639. I wished I had checked which side of the road this was on before setting out this morning.

Bigger, but not closer

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Large

Bigger indeed! This was my first stop at 9:20 am, and it was still cool, at least in the shade.

BADGES Dinner #4

By: BADGES Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my first BADGES dinner, and I enjoyed connecting names with faces, and sharing a few stories.

Covering Our Ends!

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

I looked for this shortly after it came out with no luck. Today, I spotted it right away, lying in the open. I left it a little better covered.

Simpson's Trivia

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The park was a little busy this afternoon, but I got the cache on the first grab. Thanks for the puzzle.

Geometry Quiz

By: Dr. Bobo Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I took the Geometry Quiz months ago when I first started geocaching, but couldn't find the cache. Today, it was a piece of cake, especially with the hint. Maybe I forgot to read the hint last time.

Aug 14, 2004

Tank-view Park

By: Team feline Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Parking was easy this morning, and not many folks were around. Found it quickly.

Word Police Quiz

By: The Rat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I finally had a errand to run near downtown, and took the opportunity to find and log this cache.

Pony Loom

By: bykenut Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

Big doings at the park this morning, but the cache site was clear.

Tree Bees Tot Lot Not

By: Tammie the Dog Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Whoops, bumped the cache and it fell to the bottom. Luckily, there is another access point.

CalTrain - San Jose Diridon

By: normanb Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This lot was closed and being resurfaced this morning, but the workers were on the other side of their truck, and I found the cache quickly.

Aug 13, 2004

bLOb bLOb

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I pretty much agree with mjp303. Maybe the extra cardio workout was worth the trip.

Light Overlook

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

We had no problem at all with this one. We just followed the trail, then stood in the spot where the grass was flattened from previous geocachers (or a UFO landing) and grabbed the cache.

Black Mountain Burnout

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

This was probably the best hide of the day. When I finally remembered to read the hint, that zeroed us in and we found the cache fairly quickly after that.

No Time Limit!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I knew exactly where to look from the hint and logs, and got it on my first grab.

Rocky Ledge

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was a bit of an adventure. I headed to the bottom of the ledge before reading the whole cache description, then paid for the detour with some extra huffing and puffing.

Lizard Troll

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

My GPSr had the old coordinates so it was not very close, but the hint zeroed us right in.

Monte Bello Road - West

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Spotted it fairly quickly, then poked around with my new hiking stick before making the grab.

Other Vista

By: darrenk13 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I hadn't been on this trail before and it has some nice views. This also provided a nice stopping point for a rest and a drink.

Dokey Oakey

By: 4wheeler Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

The cache was lying in the open with the top off, so it looks like an animal dug it out of its hiding place again. We put it back where we found the container top, and put more rocks on it to keep it in place.

PEZtacular View 2

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I didn't have a PEZ dispenser to trade, but it was interesting to see the collection. I came across the Black Mountain benchmark while approaching this cache, about 100' away.

Sweat? Not!

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

We hit this before 9 am and the heat was not so bad yet.

Backpack Camp

By: PhilippeGPS (maintained by trode) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Had a nice hike up here today with DougMoi. The views were pretty nice, but were partially obscured by haze and clouds in the distance.

Mello Bello

By: Marky & Joani & Woof! Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This one took a bit of searching, but first a lot of poking around with the hiking stick to wake up any snakes.

bLEb bLOb

By: Woof!, Marky, and Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The previous finder did a nice job of re-hiding. We took a couple circles around the area before homing in.

Aug 9, 2004

Series Finales

By: boulter Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This one turned out to be a little troublesome. I missed the cache on Saturday when I was out and about doing Boulter puzzles because of a calculation error. I headed out early for work this morning and decided to stop by. After evading a dog walker, I found the cache with no problem, then on the way out, a branch grabbed my reading glasses out of my hand and flung them who knows where. They were only worth a five minute search. I'll stop by Target for another pair tonight.

Aug 8, 2004

Rocky Bench

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

This is a perfect bench in the perfect place (after a steep uphill), with a great view of the valley. Thanks for the rest stop.

Once in a Blue Moon

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

After my FRE (first rattlesnake encounter) last weekend, Mrs. Bytemobile got me a walking stick. This was my first chance to use it, so I whacked around a little bit before reaching down and grabbing the cache.

M & J Style: Mint Cage

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I wouldn't say there was an M & J style with regard to location or type. Their caches seem to be everything and everywhere. Thanks for the break in my hike this toasty morning.

I LIKE 1KE

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

After poking around a little bit, I found this one quickly. Nice cammo.

Nicely Stacked

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

The coordinates were excellent, and I spotted this one right away.

B-G-J Ranch

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my first visit to this trailhead and this park. I logged the cache, said good morning to the chickens, and headed on up the hill.

Bear Tree Lot

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Well, I would certainly have missed this plaque without the help of a geocache. I agree with Boulter on the hint, but I found the cache fairly quickly, with the help of the good coordinates.

Dwimmerlaik

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

You'd think I would be able to spot an ammo box that can be photographed from a distance. I don't mind a little physical adventure, and I indulged in a little, although my hiking boots weren't the best choice for this effort. I eventually lost patience and headed off for the next cache.

Santa Teresa Spring

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was my first visit here, and I thought it was interesting. I saw some fish swimming around in the pool.

Santa Teresa Station

By: Stacy & Jerry; Adopted by cachbefound Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

Stopped by after a hike in Santa Teresa, but had no luck here.

Cottle Station

By: Stacy & Jerry; Adopted by cachbefound Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Stopped by this morning on my way to Santa Teresa County Park.

Aug 7, 2004

Over Under

By: Berniquen Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Stopped by this afternoon, and found it after some through searching. The coordinates could probably be improved a little.

Rengstorff Park # 1

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was by here a couple other times, but this morning at 8:15, nobody was hanging out here, and it was an easy find.

Rengstorff Park # 2.5

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I guess I got lucky on this one. I tried the right place right away.

Jackson Park

By: darrenk13 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Very quiet here this morning, and it was a quick find.

Braly Park

By: CTomGeo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

A couple months ago, I spent a half hour looking for something like this at another cache. Today, it stood out like a sore thumb.

Not My Fault

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had no idea this establishment was here. No one was around this morning, so the finding was easy.

We Won!

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My GPSr zeroed out a bit further north, but the hint got me to the right area.

500 Server Too Busy

By: boulter (maintained by mokelly) Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I solved "Server Still Too Busy" first, then came back to this one. This one still took me a while.

She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

By: HitsMan and Boulter Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I hadn't projected a waypoint before, so this exercise added to my GPSr proficiency. I had looked at this puzzle before, but this time I made the connections.

Displaced New Englander

By: Boulter (adopted by AlphaRomero) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I'm a displaced Midwesterner myself. Presuming I answered the questions right, my GPSr said the cache was on the north side of the fence. I picked a likely spot, though, and came up with the cache fairly quickly. I didn't see the Bunny Hopper travel bug.

Aug 4, 2004

Server Still Too Busy?

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is on my lunchtime walking route, so I had to find it eventually. I stopped by yesterday with no luck. I hope this container doesn't get too popular, or I'm going to have to make a trip to the optometrist. The puzzle was quite creative.

Aug 3, 2004

BADGES Dinner #4

By: BADGES Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I hope to be there with Mrs. Bytemobile.

Aug 2, 2004

That Cache by the Duck Pond

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I came out to see a few ducks at lunchtime. I left a Jeep travel bug.

Rhino Eels 2

By: Dale (Mengarelliott/2) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I logged a DNF on April 20th. I looked in the same place today with better results.

Aug 1, 2004

Little Jack Cacher

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I headed down for a little Sunday afternoon geocaching, and this nice park was my first stop.

Fontana's Watch

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I didn't realize there was a memorial to Officer Fontana already. Thanks for the visit.

Trapped by Victor

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Wow, you get my vote for consistently having the most innovative caches.

Oak Trail Kid's Cache

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

My GPSr started me out on the wrong side of the trail, but I zeroed in eventually. This was my first trip to this park, and it is definitely dry in the summertime.

San Jos Public Library - Vineland Branch

By: Beckerbuns Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was my first visit to this library. The cache was a little damp, but I managed to sign OK.

Cache-Out-In-Trash

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I stopped by late yesterday, but guests were starting to gather for a wedding close to the first stage. I came back this morning, and was able to rummage around with just a few people in the park. The second stage was easy, except for an older man doing his exercise, circling around and around, and around the cache site.

Montalvo's Back Door

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The street was busy this morning, with three differ groups of folks walking around, as I tried to find a legal place to park. Found the cache quickly.

Along the De Anza Trail #4 - Blossom Hill

By: Team LegGoes a series of Marky & Joani's Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is the third one of these markers I have seen. Found the cache quickly, with a little luck.

In Orbit

By: boulter Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Stopped by on my way to "The End is Near".

The End is Near

By: boulter Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Not disturbing the neighbors was a little problematical with four dogs watching through the gate, but I found it quickly and was on my way.

Grape Ape, or "Louis, Stop the Presses!"

By: DR. Doolittle, the Mrs., and Zoo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Very cool park and nice hide. No one was around this Sunday afternoon, so I had no problem searching.

Guadalupe Oak View

By: Sadie's Gang Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I hiked up, took in the view, and found the cache fairly quickly. I hid it slightly better than I found it.

Blue Oak Hill

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I left my hiking boots at home, and slipped climbing around here and scraped my forearm a little. Found the cache without too much problem.

Sunnyside

By: Dante Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This is not really my cup of tea, but when you do a zip code search for 95070, it shows up first and I got tired of seeing it unchecked. Got it on my second try.

Patheticache #1

By: Two Pathetic Guys (Adopted by Vaudesir) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was my first trip to this park, and my first cache in the park (I'm headed for more.)
