Okay...You're Buggin' Me!

By: DennisR Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was there before TheFogHeads, and would have tied the cache with a cord if I had one with me. I thought it was more like inches above the water line.

Romantic Rendezvous 1 ? NEM

By: hals99 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Things were quiet this morning, and I was able to park in front of the cache for a quick grab. Thanks!

Assume Nothing #2 1/2

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my third visit. I assumed too much on the previous visits. Today, I came with new thought in mind, and was rewarded with a find. Very cool! I used my best pen for writing on soggy logs, and signed on the back side.

Secret Walkway #6 - Los Gatos Creek Trail?

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Autoroute on my GPSr took me to the wrong street, but I continued around and found the trailhead. It took a while to find the cache since it is completely covered, and painted a good cammo color.

Bird Person of Willow Glen

By: Tammie The Dog Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Nice cache, and perfect hint!

Canoas Flock Revived

By: DR Doolitte (adopted by viperfin and CA Poppi Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I've seen this hide before, and spotted it as I was walking up. Thanks!

I can't chase Hummingbirds

By: Tammie the Dog Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

There were a couple other folks in the park this morning, but I was quick, and hopefully discrete. Thanks!

Where's the benchmark?

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had to wander around a little bit, but finally spotted the telltale signs of a hidden cache. TNLN. Thanks!

Old Blue Eyes

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I needed the extra hint for this one, so I sat down and decoded it by hand, then it took a bit of careful looking. Thanks!

Sly Dog's--Up Yours!

By: Marwagsalot (Maintained by nostrada) Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I parked in front of the cache, and spotted it after scanning the area for a few minutes. Thanks!

Treasure Chest

By: Jim and Jeanette Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Perfect place for a big cache. Thanks!

Discover Water

By: GeoBrowns (adopted by The North Star) Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Lots of brown water below and a little sprinkle from above today. The cammo is unique and perfect for this location!

Big Gate

By: GeoBrowns (adopted by The North Star) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I would guess that King Kong is behind the gate. Thanks!

Mystery Park and Ride - Milpitas

By: bykenut Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This cache is not the best for using the autoroute feature on my GPSr. It doesn't consider the altitude dimension. I got to the right spot eventually, though. Thanks!

Starlite Horseshoes

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The park was empty this morning, but it was a little muddy. Brought my GPSr from the car, but I am sure one could do without. Thanks!

CalSkate Cache

By: Team ATV Caching Crew Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I lived in Milpitas a little over 20 years ago, and I am sure I was here skating at least once. Log was full, so I signed in a little blank spot on the back. Thanks!

Hiding at Hidden Lake

By: TeamSpaz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Hidden Lake was a bit dismal this damp morning. I had to poke around a bit before finding the cache. Thanks!

Therapy Cache #3

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

After finding over 100 M & J caches, I still read the hints, but at least half the time, they are more useful for entertainment than finding the cache. I found this cache after examining a few other possibilities first. Thanks for something out of the ordinary!

Therapy Cache #1

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The park was empty and a little damp this morning, with a few sprinkles. The cache wasn't the first place I looked, but found it after a little poking around. Thanks!

Therapy Cache #2

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I lived in Milpitas a little over 20 years ago, in a brand new house. This is my first trip over for geocaching, and a lot of areas are just unrecogizable to me. Found the cache quickly. Thanks!

FREE PARKING

By: The Petoskey Stones Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I planned to do several caches in the California Ave. area, and this was my first stop this morning. I parked close to the cache and found it quickly. Thanks!

California Ave. Art

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I'm concentrating on multis today, and this was a fairly nice one, although I had to straighten out a B/C mix-up before getting the checksums to work. Thanks!

Free WiFi #4

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I wasn't too enthusiastic about going after this one, but I read the hint, spotted the objective, and walked right up and got it on the second grab. Thanks!

From small acorns...

By: rootroof Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The park was empty this morning, and the cache was about the fourth place I looked. Thanks!

Herring Box

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I don't think I did as well as budd-rdc in signing the damp mushy log, but thanks for the historical tour.

ENERGY ALTERNATIVES

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Like other finders, I came up with multiple answers for some of the questions. I noted all the possiblities, then sat down for a while and worked until I got the checksums to work out. The cache was close to where I worked out the answers, and I had a little trouble finding it, but my hands finally bumped it and it fell to the ground. Thanks!

George was Here?

By: The Bajorans (Aaron) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The park was a bit muddy today, but the cache was cozy and dry. Thanks!

Round 'n' about the Roundabout

By: smellythestupidslave Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I was concentrating on Palo Alto multis today, and this fit the bill. Thanks for the tour!

Convertibles

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

That is one heavy sculpture. Thanks for the cache!

Traffic View

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I stopped once before, and was looking all over the place. Today, I pretty much went straight to the cache, and the coordinate were right on. Thanks!

ELVIS LIVES

By: DrHugAlot Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I waited for the woman practicing Tai Chi to finish up and for my GPSr to lock, then used the hint, and laid hands on the cache fairly quickly. Thanks!

Alice Locke Park

By: DrHugAlot Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I had some difficulties counting trees, but the cache was the first thing I grabbed, even though the cammo was perfect. Thanks!

Flood Cache

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My last visit was a "was not there". Today, there was no problem, and I left Mariner Moose travel bug.

Men of Stone

By: MaxEntropy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I noticed a couple of the rock arrangements on previous visit to the park, but had no idea how many there were or what they meant until I hiked through and looked at them. Thanks!

Take a Gamble

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Nice tour of the gardens! The cache was invisible to my eyes, and I was about to declare a "was not there" when my hands found it. Thanks!

Ultimate Battleship: Branham Memorial

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Needed to get out of the house this morning between storms, and this was the first stop. Nice war room picture.

Splish splash find a cache

By: a Russell in the bushes Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This was my second visit, and this time, the cache was the first thing my eyes landed on. I left THE ROOSTER travel bug. Thanks!

Secret Trailhead #8 - Upper Belgatos

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

The third try was the charm. I don't remember there being a hint originally. This time I just ignored the GPSr and searched. Thanks!

The Harry Surprise

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I picked up the puzzle this morning, worked it out at home, and found the final cache in a very light drizzle this afternoon. Thanks for the puzzle and a couple nice caches!

Dec 26, 2004

Pupperoni Cache

By: Sharkz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was the only visitor at the park this rainy Sunday afternoon. I took the Mariner Moose travel bug. Thanks for the cache!

Mount Busy

By: stbk & sons Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I'm working off some Christmas cookies today. I guess this beats 30 minutes on a stationary bike. Thanks for the hike!

Cupertino Library v3.0

By: stbk Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

There was a little drizzle this afternoon, but it didn't deter me from a little hike around the library. Thanks!

Free WiFi #3

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I thought a rainy Sunday afternoon would be a good time to try one of these. There were plenty of folks out and about, though. Fortunately the cache site is not in a high traffic area.

Reservoir Junction

By: jabberwocky & family Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I walked off some Christmas cookies this afternoon. The light rain wasn't much of a problem. The coordinates seemed right on, and took me straight to the cache. Thanks!

Monte Bello-Bello

By: Tonton-Ca Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Large

I thought 4 pm Sunday afternoon in the dead of winter would be the perfect time to park in front of a No Parking sign at the end of a lonely road. The howling storm, had me reconsidering, however. The road was somewhat protected from the west, so I only got blasted with the wind and rain the last 500 feet or so. The cache is in great shape. Thanks for the adventure!

Hilltop Hideaway 2

By: MeAndMyButler Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The trail was a little mucky, but otherwise the light rain wasn't much of a problem this afternoon. Excellent name for the cache. Thanks!

First Cache of Spring

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Found the first cache of spring on the third day of winter. There is always something a little different from WOW!

Festivus

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

My GPSr autorouted me to the wrong neighborhood, then I drove around a bit and got lucky spotting the trail. It's an interesting area that I certain would never otherwise have seen. I didn't have any grievances worth mentioning, and the grievance log is empty so far. Thanks!

Slippery When Wet

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Another WOW work of art. Thanks!

Tiny Turtles

By: oldbadger Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Lots of trail traffic before 9 am this morning, but I was able to make a quick grab. Thanks!

Dec 21, 2004

Only One Way?

By: G A-DayTrippers Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was out with Mrs. Bytemobile on her birtday today. We stopped to get a cache for me, a little walk for our dog Laser, then headed on to Bargetto's for a little wine tasting. Picked up Kealia's California Geocoin, and will move it on. Thanks!

Scott's House Pets

By: friendly four from felton Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I was with Mrs. Bytemobile and Laser, our 12-year-old Akita today. We needed a park for Laser to stretch his legs, and this fit the bill nicely. Thanks!

Houdini's Hideaway Magic Exchange

By: The Zenone Family Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I stopped by once before, but I was in a hurry and ended up on the wrong side of a fence. Today, I parked a short distance from the cache, and was able to wander around and take in the whole experience. Nice work on this cache! TNLN.

The Advocate

By: Kealia Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I have been geocaching a couple times before in this park, but never made it to this area to see the old growth redwoods. Had a nice hike and found the cache without too much trouble. Thanks!

Auntie Rwanda

By: Rogue Ranger Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

I was not a happy camper when I first saw the area of the cache, but it was easier than I expected, and nabbed it quickly. Thanks!

Branciforte Creek Cache

By: MonarchSchool Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I hiked on up the creek from Auntie Rwanda, followed the hint, and spotted the cache fairly quickly. Thanks! TNLN.

BuckEye

By: Kealia Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I headed out in the morning, while I was still fresh, but this was still quite a workout. From the hint, I knew I was hunting close to the cache, but it still took me a long time. Keen eyes won't help much since the cache is toally concealed, but a magic wand (walking stick) is a big help.

Under the Boardwalk

By: little_bear_blue and Big Green Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was my first stop of the morning, and the beach was mostly empty. Great spot for a cache! TNLN.

Just Beyond The End

By: sammydee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I layed the log sheet out in my car while I went over to Bald Mountain, and it was quite dry when I got back. I was able to sign it then with no problem. Thanks!

Canada Invades San Jose!

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

It was late afternoon, and I had been hiking and biking all day, but this cache was less than 0.2 miles away. How hard could it be? Pretty darn hard. After huffing and puffing up the hill, there was a nice spot to sit down and work out the final coordinates, though. Thanks!

12 Months of Caches

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

WOW, you are consistently the most innovative cache maker around here. Thanks for the fun! Left Lighthouse travel bug.

Ultimate Battleship: Battleship in the Ivy

By: bullit Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I did a little battlefield mop-up this morning. Thanks!

Walk Like a Duck

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Thanks for the intro to Letterboxing. It's nice to have GPS backup, though. On the way back I said hello to Semi-hex and Nurse Dave who were at the first stop.

Secret Trailhead: Sierra Azul

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

This was my first trip up this road, and I hadn't seen this trailhead before. The cache took a few minutes of looking around, but it was in a good spot. Thanks!

Bigger than Dave's

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Large

WOW, yours is bigger! I enjoyed the little hike. TNLN.

Assume Nothing #4- Black Book

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Today was my day off, and this was my first stop. I guess my brain wasn't in gear yet. I couldn't see any good spots to look. Later, while on a trail, the gears finally clicked, and I knew where to look, so I stopped by again on the way home and made quick work of it. Thanks!

Flash of Inspiration

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Tooo much! I picked up the Lighthouse travel bug. Something might have fallen out when the cache opened unexpectedly, but I was unable to find anything on the ground.

Ultimate Battleship: WW2

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 5.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I didn't get this at first, but it finally dawned on me, and my wife had the perfect tool. I made the pickup before 8 am this morning. Thanks!

Split Rock

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

It was a great day for hiking and biking up here. I was struck by the absolute quiet. Saw only a couple other people in the park, and no one on this trail.

Vista Trail

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This is my first exposure to this trail. I section of it was a bit mucky and had a tendency to make you taller. Nice spot up there, though.

Black Manzanita

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I spotted this one quickly after having a peek at the hint. The log was dry as a bone. Thanks!

Secret Trailhead #16 - Woods Rd

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my second try, and with only one other vehicle here this morning, it was a piece of cake. Nice hide!

Crotch Watch

By: dgreno Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

As long as I was in the neighborhood, I decided to bike on down for this one. I was pretty tired, so I ended up pushing the bike part of the way back up. Thanks!

Above the Pond

By: ProTechCC and Chucklesda Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I would say this is off the beaten path, but the path is well beaten, but not by people. Lots of muddy tracks in the deer trail. I zeroed out in the little clearing, and beat the bushes all the way around a couple times, then I stopped and read payakoi's log, went to where I looked first, and found the cache.

Hotbox

By: Ron Williams Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

This is an interesting spot, but it's a little inconvenient to get here. I had already eaten my PBJ sandwich, so there was was nothing to do but hike on out. Thanks!

SILVER CACHE

By: Joe Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

The cache is in great shape for being an oldie. The weather was great for hiking and biking up here today. Thanks!

Forgotten Psychedelic Rock Venue #1THE BOLD KNIGHT

By: MontytheMule Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I thought there was only one possible location, but I sure didn't see it there.

20th Century Crier

By: The Petoskey Stones Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

It is amazing how many of these are still around. I stopped by on a short lunchtime excursion. Thanks!

A Sunny Day in the Park

By: Butano and WT Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I took the adventure out of this one by using fizzymagic's GeoCalc to do the projections, so I had the final coordinates before heading to the EE area for the cache. (Note that GeoCalc uses true north, which is magnetic north plus 15 degrees around here.) I also checked my work with Marky's TerraServer Viewer. Both the observation platform and pier are clearly visible on the hi-res color images. I went out at lunchtime today to pick up the cache, and it was a great day for a walk. I believe I could see Mt. Tam in the distance. I left California Geocoin #1221.

Ultimate Battleship: Treasure Ship From The Past

By: Ger ónimo de Montero Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Ultimate Battleship: Crow's Nest

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

This was tough, but I found a route to the top and made the grab. Thanks!

Ultimate Battleship: Shrinking Battlefield

I found this one in the first place I looked. The experiments looked interesting. TNLN.

Ultimate Battleship: Depth Charge

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I saw these at the Ammunition Depot, so I knew what I was looking for and spotted it fairly quickly. Thanks!

Along the De Anza Trail 6 - Tequilla Mockingbird

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I found the cache quickly, but dealing with the damp log, tiny container, and a pen that quit working kept me here a while. Thanks!

21 More Cache

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I looked for this one months ago with no luck. Since then I studied the logs and was able to find it today after a thorough search. Thanks for the challenge!

Follow the Rules, the short version

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

It took a while for the rules to click with me, but they finally did, and found the ammo box without too much problem. I was out early, and there were only a few dog walkers and a guy with a metal detector working with playground areas. Very nice puzzle and cache!

Oh, Porgy!

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

I must have been quite a sight last weekend as I was standing on my perch, examining a long brown tube as a group of women joggers went by. The final grab early this morning was easy. I took the California Geocoin #1221, and will move it along. Thanks for a nice puzzle.

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I double checked, then triple checked my answers, then believed them and found the cache. Thanks!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Nicely designed cache. I found it after a thorough hunt. Thanks!

End of the Trail 3: Palo Alto Baylands

By: darrenk13 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

The trail was a bit muddy today, but no bushwhacking is required. Herbk, have a look at Terraserver for a picture of the trails - they are straight as an arrow, and only one turn is required.

Salt Water Marsh

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

12:20 - My lunchtime walking shoes were not the best for this job, but I made it without slipping. Spotted Green Gables here on my return trip, and stopped to introduce myself.

Fresh Water Marsh

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

12:15 - This looked like a nice trail for a lunchtime stroll, especially since it now has four caches.

Duck View

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

No shortage of ducks today. The air seems to be humid, and I worked up a little sweat on my brow as I hiked back to the trailhead. Thanks the the lunchtime four-fer.

Ultimate Battleship: J2

By: John Jones Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I found a fairly good route down from the Latrine View, and spotted this one without the hint.

Ultimate Battleship: J1

By: John Jones Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

The sun was beginning to sink, but this was my last cache, and I had a solid trail to follow from the earlier battles. I stood on the beaten down patch of grass, and logged my last.

Miracle Mountain

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I made a bee-line from Miracle Gate. The view was a little obscured today, but the weather was nice for a hike. Thanks!

Ultimate Battleship: Latrine with a View

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I investigated an interesting blue object in a bare bush before reading the cautions. Hopefully, my decontamination was effective. This was starting to look like a long search, but I finally decided to trust the coordinates, and found the cache close by.

The Fairy Harp

By: The Zenone Family Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I headed out for an afternoon of caching in the Mount Herman area, and headed for this one from another nearby cache. The cache description was a lot to read on my little Palm, but I managed to follow the directions. I thought that 120 should be more like 150-200, and I think some other cachers agreed with me since I saw tracks up the steep embankment along the trail. This one is not that hard -- little kids should have no trouble getting to the cache from the trail. However, since I had no kids along, the cache was initially invisible to me -- until I saw a blue butterfly in front of my nose, then the fairy house gradually became visible. The ammo box was still invisible, however, and it took a few minutes of poking around to find it, although it was very nearby. Thanks for a clever and interesting cache!

Going Postal

By: zenone Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This is my first visit to Mount Herman, and the place is pretty neat. The hint took my straight to the cache, and the place was not so busy in the midafternoon. The log, however, is a soggy lump of mush. My signature is probably not too legible. Thanks for the cache!

flower childs peace corp

By: child of the damned Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I guess I found it. Wirebndr and I found a cache with the title "No Touch!" written on the orange top of the clear plastic container. The log sheet had the entries of digitalfish and Piso Mojado. I picked up the cache on a little sand bar in the middle of the creek, a little downstream from where I thought "flower childs peace corp" should be. Since the cache would be gone with the next rain, I moved it to higher ground and e-mailed the new location to the owner so he can re-hide.

The forest was especially magical today with a little rain. Steam was rising from the nearby pool as noontime swimmers did a few laps. Thanks!

WALK YOUR BIKE

By: trode Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

No problem grabbing this one on a lunchtime stroll. The workers were quite close, but I doubt if they paid any attention to me. Thanks for the fun.

Mainline weaving operations

By: trode Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I spent more than my usual ten minute limit here since I had aready invested time in gathering the coordinates, but the hint didn't do the trick and the power line and tree cover added some uncertainty to the location.

The Temple

This is a very neat place. I never knew it existed. Found the cache after a bit of poking around. Thanks for showing me this interesting spot.

We are camping this weekend at Francis Beach, and this was my first objective after setting up camp. Found it fairly quickly.

Water Dog Lake

This is an interesting little canyon that seems to be a wild oasis surrounded by development. Thanks for a nice hike and cache.

Still Standing

By: Woof! Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This cache cost me about a hundred bucks. I noticed that they were having a holiday boutique at the White House this weekend and next, and mentioned it to Mrs. Bytemobile when I got back. We came back on Saturday and loaded up on handmade Christmas items.

Can You Do the Cam Can?

By: TBD & D Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Barnstormer Cache

By: enfuego Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

There was a sign at the trailhead that police training was in progress. While I was at the cache site, they opened up at the firing range: blam-blam ping, blam ping, then the brrrrrrp of automatic fire. When I first got to the cache site, my GPSr was pointing about 20 feet into the poison oak an berry vines, but I poked around until I had the right angle, and found it in a much nicer spot. Thanks for a nice bike ride and cache.

Queche Sera Serra - Northbound

By: PisoMojado Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

All the parking places were full at this vista point at 10:15 am on a Friday morning. This seems to be an informal guys-only type of meeting place.

Cross Country

By: MikieP Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Virtual

I didn't spot the trailhead the first time by, but when I came back, there were SUVs and minivans disgorging young people in athletic uniforms. I joined the procession to the cache site, and evidently a meet was about to start. Fortunately, I didn't have to skulk around and find anything, just take notes about the sign. This looks like a great place to run. I participated in this sport myself for four years in high school.

Circular beach reasoning

By: Skunkerkids Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This was a great day to cache along the beach. I left the cache inverted so that rain would not come through the holes in the lid. The contents were a bit damp, but the log was still serviceable. Thanks for the cache.

Patience

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

The Twin Gates

I like a cache with a good theme. I was amazed by the woodpecker holes with acorns near the cache site and took a picture.

Chicken Roost

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

We spotted three coyotes a ways back down the trail from here. First we saw one dark shape in the grass up ahead, then saw him move like a coyote, then suddenly saw two others start moving out in the grass.

Canada de Pala cache

Wilder Buckeye Cache

I made this one harder than it needed to be, but it was a nice day for hiking. I didn't know that you had to wander by the farm buildings to find the Highway 1 underpass. I headed on down the road past the buildings to another Highway 1 crossing, took a cow path over the hill, then bushwacked down the other side, where I met up with the main trails. TNLNSL.

Garden of Eden

By: Kealia Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This is an amazing little spot. I was surprised to see it labeled on the park map the same as the cache name. I didn't see Adam or Eve, though. It may have been too early in the day. My GPSr quit being of any use about a half mile from the cache. I found the beach with no problem and eventually found the hint landmark. Then I spent a lot of time thrashing about on the hillside, watched a train go by, then finally found the cache closer to the beach.

Bridge Mind Bender

By: Kealia Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I wasted some time looking for a magnetic micro, then sat down with my Palm and read the cache page and hint, then found it quickly. This was my first visit to Henry Cowell, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Higher Ground

By: Team Egerton Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Finally! A cache in this park with great GPS coverage. I zeroed in quickly with good coordinates and lots of satellites. Great place for a cache, but I was surprised that the trail I took was the equivalent of hiking up a sand dune.

Nosey Neighbor

By: zenone Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This would probably be a great park for letterboxing, since I have been operating mostly operating on hints for the last two caches. I came up from below with no GPS coverage, got a fix at the top, then headed back down (a couple times). It took quite a while to locate the landmark in the hint.

I did in fact see deer on this trek, even in the middle of a hot afternoon. This one went fairly smoothly. I followed my GPSr up the trail and over the hill. I found the cache quickly using WOW's coordinates. My round trip time was about 40 minutes, which I thought was good for an over-50 geezer.

I made this one a little more difficult by assuming where it must be before checking out other possibilities.

Wind in the Cattails

By: bullit & mickeychopchop Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

There was quite a clear view up the bay at lunchtime today. Thanks for the incentive to get out and about.

San Jos Public Library - Alviso Branch

By: Beckerbuns & Ricky Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Grabbed it quickly on my lunch hour.

Plant Grapes Everywhere

By: Right Turn Only Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I had trouble with the third waypoint calculation until it was clarified by the cache owner. I was running an errand after work tonight, and Mrs. Bytemobile helped me zip through the last waypoints to the cache. This area seems to be a popular area to walk and play in the evening.

A gathering of hands

By: PhilippeGPS (maintained by The Rat) Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I solved this months ago, but failed to find the cache. I stopped by again yesterday with similar results. Last night I started to compose an e-mail to Philippe for confirmation of my coordinates, and in the process, I rechecked my work. Aaargh! I dropped a term in computing the coordinates and was about 75 feet off. Stopped by on the way to work this morning for a quick find.

Great America Station

By: Stacy & Jerry; Adopted by cachbefound Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I came by at lunchtime and found the cache with no problem. The nearby trailmap sign was interesting.

Ulistac

By: Mhop (adopted by bullit) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Before heading out, I tried Ulistac on an anagram solver (with no luck), then all was clear when I got to the cache site.

Creekside Park Walkway

By: garyhenry Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Quick find after I got there. Had to circle around a bit after my GPSr auto-route feature took me to a dead end street.

Park it in the Park

By: garyhenry Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

There was a soccer game going on, but no problem picking this one up.

Los Altos Hills Pathways: Mary Stutz Path

By: atc Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Interesting area for a little hike. I sat down at "S" to log, and the odor was a bit unpleasant. I picked up the Sockmonkey TB.

Los Altos Hills Pathways 2: 280 Exercise

By: budd-rdc Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I hiked on over from the Mary Stutz Path, then over the hill and down the other side, and found it quickly.

Great Reception

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The recent front cleared the air, and the view was great today. The San Francisco and Oakland skylines were visible as well as San Jose.

goal line

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

After not finding Arc of Art, I headed on the wrong side of a long fence for this one. When I finally got on the right side, I found it after a few minutes of pondering the possibilities.

Spider Monkey Fiasco

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I made a fiasco of this one, just like "goal line" by guessing the wrong side of the fence. I should have just walked across the field from "Wildcat Crossing".

Along the De Anza Trail 3 - Campbell

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I zeroed in on the right place to search fairly quickly, but it still took some time to work through the possibilities.

Assume Nothing #1

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Nice craftsmanship. An easy find with the hint.

Wildcat Crossing

By: Rosy3 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I zeroed out about 20 feet away, but it was a good direction from which to spot the cache, and there weren't that many possibilities in the area.

Pick the Bucket...Don't Kick it!

By: Woffie Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Seems like I've been here before. The excellent coordinates zeroed me in quickly to the cache.

Hey, Larry!

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I didn't see Larry, but a soccer game was going on nearby. What type of vine is on this fence? The blossoms are incredible.

Goose Meadow

By: jabberwocky and the little momeraths Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my second attempt. The last time I was by, there was a guy camped here with his guitar. No one here this morning except the joggers and bikers.

Edith's Other Trunk

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The hint apparently doesn't apply any more, but the cache is in a perfectly logical place.

Anna Graham

By: The Rat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I headed out on vacation about the time this one appeared, and didn't spot it until last night. I stopped by on my way to work this morning, found the cache, and got some wet shoes from the dewy grass. This was a great idea for a cache, and certainly drew my interest, athough I was below the cut, with 10 finds from the list.

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I have no shame in using hints that are total spoilers. Thanks for a nice cache.

Northern Exposure, Old Tree

By: rootroof Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Once I found the right tree, found it on the first circle around. The original craftsmanship may be a little degraded.

Lyle Park Cache Lives!

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Erected 1910

By: bthomas (Maintained by kindredlaugh) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I have passed by here a number of times, but never turned my head to see the tower. Thanks for a cache at an interesting spot.

High Five & Clueless

By: DrHugAlot Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The coordinates are excellent, and the view of the sky superb, which makes this a great place for this type of cache.

Vintage Oaks

By: datrio Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I had some trouble with this one, then followed the procedure outlined in hint #2, and spotted it immediately.

Quackie Quack

By: DKAK Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This was a quick find. I was amazed at the size of the cache and all the goodies it contained.

I had heard of Little House before, but never knew where it was located.

Flood Cache

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I was last here for a wedding reception. It is a great out-of-the-way park.

Day at the Dump

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Although WalruZ re-hid it better, it was again visible from 20 feet away and the top of the container was loose. The towels were still laid out on a branch. I heaped a few pine needles on top to conceal it somewhat.

Historic Palo Alto

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

This was my first visit to El Palo Alto. Thanks for the tour.

Junior Cache

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze (adopted by CaliSeaSta Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I guess there were big doings today at the museum since the parking lot and adjacent streets were full of cars.

Sun Microsystems Geek Cache

By: DeadReckoner Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I read Wacka's log, and decided to take his route. No one seemed to mind my parking at Sun on a Sunday morning.

CalTrain - Atherton

By: normanb Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I'm not a big fan of ivy, but decided to give this one a try, and got lucky on my second pass.

Sep 9, 2004

Medicine Buddha

By: Coyos Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I rounded up brother-in-law Wirebndr, and we headed out in the cool of the morning. The grounds and buildings were interesting and colorful. We had no trouble with counting words since an off-by-one error would only mean a few feet of error. Finding the cache was easy with the hint.

Sep 8, 2004

Zooropa

By: O_Chemist & Turtledove Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This was a tough one, with poor GPS reception and lots of potential hiding places. For what it's worth, my location for the cache, with six satellites, and 30 foot accuracy was: N 36 59.575 W 122 00.172.

Duck Island Travel Bug Shelter

By: ynots4 Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Thing were fairly quiet early this afternoon, and I had little trouble grabbing and replacing the cache.

Marine Center

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I've been out here for dinner before. This was my last cache of the day before heading back to our trailer at Sea Cliff Beach. I replaced it as tourists on the other side were shooting a photo.

La Vega De Echo

By: Team Crush Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I think I followed the trail blazed down the hillside by digitalfish, except that I came from the "Santa Cruz Degree Confluence Point", and was hoping for a fairly direct trail.

Fetch! #2

By: ynots4 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I gave it my best shot, short of pruning tools, but couldn't spot it.

Mountain Charley I

By: O_Chemist & Turtledove Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I am camped this week at Sea Cliff, and came up this morning to do a few Santa Cruz caches. I think I was here years ago for a dog show, but I don't remember the stage coach or the locomotive.

S.C. Stairway View Cache

By: jtkcacher and grumpybear Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was parked at Harvey West for a couple other caches, so I just hiked around for this one. Nice view this morning.

Good Luck Charm Cache

By: grumpybear Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I didn't notice this place when I drove by to park. It has evidently been here quite a while.

Sep 6, 2004

Alley Catz

By: Team Mossimo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was a combined effort with brother-in-law Wirebndr. He said try looking there -- and I found it.

Arana Bananas

By: Team Mossimo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I was out today with Wirebndr. We probably would have found this faster by hiking from Alley Catz, but we wandered around by car, then on foot, and finally came in from the Yacht Harbor. The hike was a bit warm, but it wasn't that long.

The World's Largest Artichoke

By: ynots4 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

I stopped here once many years ago when my brother and family was in town, but didn't really remember the Giant Artichoke. Thanks for the cache and an opportunity to stop for a lemonade at Giant Artichoke Produce.

Elkhorn

By: Touchstone Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Virtual

This is what geocaching is all about. I had been by here before, but never ventured in. I would never have explored this place to this extent without the cache incentive. One note of caution -- take care when approaching the barn. A swarm of termites jumped on me. Thanks for the tour.

Bottom Blue

By: Ford Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Other

We are camped at Sunset Beach this weekend, and I am out getting my caching fix. Thanks for the cache.

Charlie Moss

By: Signorelli Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I managed to find the closest parking, and found it fairly quickly, although the previous finder did an excellent re-hide and camo job.

Little Big Bird

By: TammieTheDog Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We were camped at Sunset Beach, and this was my first stop of the morning. The pens looked empty from my view at the gate.

Pelican Brief

By: Team Mossimo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I have been to this park one before to launch kayaks for a trip down the slough and back. I hadn't ventured down this walkway, though. The slough was teeming with activity this morning.

Little Foot Prints

By: Ford's Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I spotted some turkey vultures on the way to the cache, but no snowy plovers. The color of the cache provides great camo, but I found it quickly.

Travel Bugs Rock

By: homermayor Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This was a great afternoon for a bike ride on campus. Thanks for the cache incentive.

Plan For a Miracle

By: DrHugAlot Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My feet found the words, but not the cache, so I got down and let my hands do the dirty work.

MAYA'S TIME

By: Rain734 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

The Stanford Palo Altos can be seen from my wife's office in Jordan Hall. She says this area is called the "Biology Ear" (Palm Loop is the head) and that the area is frequented by a hawk and a raccoon. I enjoyed doing this cache on my bike on a warm Sunday afternoon.

Secret Garden

By: Spider Woman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Some of the specimens in this garden are giant old monsters. Thanks for a nice cache.

Leland's Curios

By: markens Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

This was a nice Sunday afternoon for wandering around campus and doing some caching. Thanks for the tour.

Dr. Mahoney Baloney

By: DrHugAlot Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This one took me a while. The cache is very well done and should last for some time.

Stanford Hospital Parking Lot

By: kablooey Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I would call this a low tech art installation, but fun none the less. Thanks for the cache incentive to visit.

By: DrHugAlot Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I let my GPSr autoroute me here, and call out the many turns to make it to this out-of-the-way trailhead.

Songs from the Edge

By: TeamMachak and ClarkFamily Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This was my first visit to this park, and the view was great today.

Big Canyon

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

My GPSr didn't have a very good idea of where the trailhead was, but I eventually happened upon it. No problems finding the cache.

Eaton's Other End

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I headed over here after Big Canyon. This should have been much easier than it was. Sometimes you just can't trust your eyes, and you need to reach out and poke it.

Eaton Again

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

I found this one quicker than Eaton's Other End. Sometimes it helps to have a cacher's eye.

Bay Area Multiple Hills - 1

By: Mhop Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Great view from here today. No problem finding the cache -- it is fairly visible.

Eaton's Eden

By: sfaisdg Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Both stages were fairly quick finds, although I had to do a bit of paperwork after finding the first stage.

RWC Hills Beacon - Endangered Landmark

By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Geocaching takes you to such interesting spots. I don't think I even noticed this hill before.

By: stbk Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I took a break this afternoon to do a few caches, and this was the first. Without a hint, I wandered around a little, but eventually homed in.

Wag That Tail -- Then Pick it Up

By: garyhenry Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My GPSr routed me around to the back side of the park to an entrance close to the cache, making this pretty easy.

Put one on the BBQ

By: garyhenry Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I took a break from my chores this afternoon and got a little caching fix.

The People Zone Two + A Walkway

By: garyhenry Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I did in fact find the first People Zone, and found this one right away.

Acacia's Cache

By: wallywiz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I guess we started from the wrong trailhead since we had to take a little trail through the bushes before spotting the baseball field and barn. Mrs. Bytemobile spotted it right off.

Gilroy Garlic

By: Pedalman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Mrs. Bytemobile and I were doing some shopping today in Gilroy, and I managed to get us out here for a quick cache fix. Thanks.

Nail Behind Oakland

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was by here when the cache first came out, but had no luck. I got some anagram help from batecher at the BADGES event, and my second visit was more fruitful.

St. Joseph's Hill Open Space Preserve ~ MROSD

By: MROSD (adopted from Marky & Joani, and friend Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I had been caching in this open space before, but didn't come to the top because a cache didn't take me there. Thanks for a cache in a great spot.

Are you game?

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This is a nice spot for a cache -- off the trail for privacy but not in deep brush.

ET Trek, Turn Here

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I also made less than a grand exit, slipping down on my backside, just as a jogger came around the bend.

Santa Clara Valley View

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This was a great place to stand and enjoy the view while the joggers and bikers passed by this busy Sunday morning.

Lexington Forebay

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

My coordinates were .742 and .639. I wished I had checked which side of the road this was on before setting out this morning.

Bigger, but not closer

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Large

Bigger indeed! This was my first stop at 9:20 am, and it was still cool, at least in the shade.

BADGES Dinner #4

By: BADGES Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my first BADGES dinner, and I enjoyed connecting names with faces, and sharing a few stories.

Covering Our Ends!

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

I looked for this shortly after it came out with no luck. Today, I spotted it right away, lying in the open. I left it a little better covered.

Simpson's Trivia

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The park was a little busy this afternoon, but I got the cache on the first grab. Thanks for the puzzle.

Geometry Quiz

By: Dr. Bobo Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I took the Geometry Quiz months ago when I first started geocaching, but couldn't find the cache. Today, it was a piece of cake, especially with the hint. Maybe I forgot to read the hint last time.

Parking was easy this morning, and not many folks were around. Found it quickly.

Word Police Quiz

By: The Rat Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I finally had a errand to run near downtown, and took the opportunity to find and log this cache.

Pony Loom

By: bykenut Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

Big doings at the park this morning, but the cache site was clear.

Tree Bees Tot Lot Not

By: Tammie the Dog Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Whoops, bumped the cache and it fell to the bottom. Luckily, there is another access point.

CalTrain - San Jose Diridon

By: normanb Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This lot was closed and being resurfaced this morning, but the workers were on the other side of their truck, and I found the cache quickly.

bLOb bLOb

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I pretty much agree with mjp303. Maybe the extra cardio workout was worth the trip.

Light Overlook

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

We had no problem at all with this one. We just followed the trail, then stood in the spot where the grass was flattened from previous geocachers (or a UFO landing) and grabbed the cache.

Black Mountain Burnout

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

This was probably the best hide of the day. When I finally remembered to read the hint, that zeroed us in and we found the cache fairly quickly after that.

No Time Limit!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I knew exactly where to look from the hint and logs, and got it on my first grab.

Rocky Ledge

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This was a bit of an adventure. I headed to the bottom of the ledge before reading the whole cache description, then paid for the detour with some extra huffing and puffing.

Lizard Troll

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

My GPSr had the old coordinates so it was not very close, but the hint zeroed us right in.

Monte Bello Road - West

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Spotted it fairly quickly, then poked around with my new hiking stick before making the grab.

Other Vista

By: darrenk13 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I hadn't been on this trail before and it has some nice views. This also provided a nice stopping point for a rest and a drink.

Dokey Oakey

By: 4wheeler Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

The cache was lying in the open with the top off, so it looks like an animal dug it out of its hiding place again. We put it back where we found the container top, and put more rocks on it to keep it in place.

PEZtacular View 2

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I didn't have a PEZ dispenser to trade, but it was interesting to see the collection. I came across the Black Mountain benchmark while approaching this cache, about 100' away.

Sweat? Not!

We hit this before 9 am and the heat was not so bad yet.

Backpack Camp

By: PhilippeGPS (maintained by trode) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Had a nice hike up here today with DougMoi. The views were pretty nice, but were partially obscured by haze and clouds in the distance.

Mello Bello

By: Marky & Joani & Woof! Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

This one took a bit of searching, but first a lot of poking around with the hiking stick to wake up any snakes.

bLEb bLOb

By: Woof!, Marky, and Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The previous finder did a nice job of re-hiding. We took a couple circles around the area before homing in.

Aug 9, 2004

Series Finales

By: boulter Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

This one turned out to be a little troublesome. I missed the cache on Saturday when I was out and about doing Boulter puzzles because of a calculation error. I headed out early for work this morning and decided to stop by. After evading a dog walker, I found the cache with no problem, then on the way out, a branch grabbed my reading glasses out of my hand and flung them who knows where. They were only worth a five minute search. I'll stop by Target for another pair tonight.

Rocky Bench

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

This is a perfect bench in the perfect place (after a steep uphill), with a great view of the valley. Thanks for the rest stop.

Once in a Blue Moon

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

After my FRE (first rattlesnake encounter) last weekend, Mrs. Bytemobile got me a walking stick. This was my first chance to use it, so I whacked around a little bit before reaching down and grabbing the cache.

M & J Style: Mint Cage

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

I wouldn't say there was an M & J style with regard to location or type. Their caches seem to be everything and everywhere. Thanks for the break in my hike this toasty morning.

I LIKE 1KE

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

After poking around a little bit, I found this one quickly. Nice cammo.

Nicely Stacked

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

The coordinates were excellent, and I spotted this one right away.

B-G-J Ranch

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This was my first visit to this trailhead and this park. I logged the cache, said good morning to the chickens, and headed on up the hill.

Bear Tree Lot

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Well, I would certainly have missed this plaque without the help of a geocache. I agree with Boulter on the hint, but I found the cache fairly quickly, with the help of the good coordinates.

Dwimmerlaik

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

You'd think I would be able to spot an ammo box that can be photographed from a distance. I don't mind a little physical adventure, and I indulged in a little, although my hiking boots weren't the best choice for this effort. I eventually lost patience and headed off for the next cache.

Santa Teresa Spring

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This was my first visit here, and I thought it was interesting. I saw some fish swimming around in the pool.

Santa Teresa Station

Stopped by this afternoon, and found it after some through searching. The coordinates could probably be improved a little.

Rengstorff Park # 1

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I was by here a couple other times, but this morning at 8:15, nobody was hanging out here, and it was an easy find.

Rengstorff Park # 2.5

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I guess I got lucky on this one. I tried the right place right away.

Jackson Park

By: darrenk13 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Very quiet here this morning, and it was a quick find.

Braly Park

By: CTomGeo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

A couple months ago, I spent a half hour looking for something like this at another cache. Today, it stood out like a sore thumb.

Not My Fault

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I had no idea this establishment was here. No one was around this morning, so the finding was easy.

We Won!

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

My GPSr zeroed out a bit further north, but the hint got me to the right area.

500 Server Too Busy

I solved "Server Still Too Busy" first, then came back to this one. This one still took me a while.

She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

By: HitsMan and Boulter Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I hadn't projected a waypoint before, so this exercise added to my GPSr proficiency. I had looked at this puzzle before, but this time I made the connections.

Displaced New Englander

By: Boulter (adopted by AlphaRomero) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I'm a displaced Midwesterner myself. Presuming I answered the questions right, my GPSr said the cache was on the north side of the fence. I picked a likely spot, though, and came up with the cache fairly quickly. I didn't see the Bunny Hopper travel bug.

Server Still Too Busy?

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is on my lunchtime walking route, so I had to find it eventually. I stopped by yesterday with no luck. I hope this container doesn't get too popular, or I'm going to have to make a trip to the optometrist. The puzzle was quite creative.

That Cache by the Duck Pond

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I came out to see a few ducks at lunchtime. I left a Jeep travel bug.

Rhino Eels 2

By: Dale (Mengarelliott/2) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I logged a DNF on April 20th. I looked in the same place today with better results.

Little Jack Cacher

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I headed down for a little Sunday afternoon geocaching, and this nice park was my first stop.

Fontana's Watch

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I didn't realize there was a memorial to Officer Fontana already. Thanks for the visit.

Trapped by Victor

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Wow, you get my vote for consistently having the most innovative caches.

Oak Trail Kid's Cache

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

My GPSr started me out on the wrong side of the trail, but I zeroed in eventually. This was my first trip to this park, and it is definitely dry in the summertime.

San Jos Public Library - Vineland Branch

By: Beckerbuns Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was my first visit to this library. The cache was a little damp, but I managed to sign OK.

Cache-Out-In-Trash

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I stopped by late yesterday, but guests were starting to gather for a wedding close to the first stage. I came back this morning, and was able to rummage around with just a few people in the park. The second stage was easy, except for an older man doing his exercise, circling around and around, and around the cache site.

Montalvo's Back Door

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The street was busy this morning, with three differ groups of folks walking around, as I tried to find a legal place to park. Found the cache quickly.

Along the De Anza Trail #4 - Blossom Hill

By: Team LegGoes a series of Marky & Joani's Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This is the third one of these markers I have seen. Found the cache quickly, with a little luck.

In Orbit

By: boulter Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Stopped by on my way to "The End is Near".

The End is Near

By: boulter Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Not disturbing the neighbors was a little problematical with four dogs watching through the gate, but I found it quickly and was on my way.

Grape Ape, or "Louis, Stop the Presses!"

By: DR. Doolittle, the Mrs., and Zoo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Very cool park and nice hide. No one was around this Sunday afternoon, so I had no problem searching.

Guadalupe Oak View

By: Sadie's Gang Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I hiked up, took in the view, and found the cache fairly quickly. I hid it slightly better than I found it.

Blue Oak Hill

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I left my hiking boots at home, and slipped climbing around here and scraped my forearm a little. Found the cache without too much problem.

Sunnyside

By: Dante Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

This is not really my cup of tea, but when you do a zip code search for 95070, it shows up first and I got tired of seeing it unchecked. Got it on my second try.

Patheticache #1

By: Two Pathetic Guys (Adopted by Vaudesir) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

This was my first trip to this park, and my first cache in the park (I'm headed for more.)

Secret Trailhead #18 - Skyline Trail

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I was initially puzzled by the empty log since I hadn't seen such a thing before. I thought maybe some pages had fallen out. I finally realized that this was my first FTF! The camo was done very nicely and I tried to replicate it as best I could.

Secret Trailhead #17 - Skyline Gateway

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Stopped by after starting my fun down the road from here. I used the hint and found it quickly.

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Dropped California Geocoin #219 and picked up Zoo Key travel bug.

Ridge Trail View # 1

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Pretty nice views along here today. Found it for what I thought was a pretty good hide.

Foothills OSP Gateway

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Wow, my first ever FTF was this morning, and now I found another at the end of the day. Used the hint and found it quickly.

The Fun Starts Here

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

My GPSr started me on the wrong side of the road, but I closed in fairly quickly. Took the Jeep T.B.

Stones Throw From the Pond

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

This was a very nice camo job. I probably wouldn't have seen it without the hint.

Monte Bello Open Space Preserve ~ MROSD

By: MROSD (adopted from workerofwood) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

My first thought upon arriving in the vicinity of the cache was that the hint meant that it was in a patch of poison oak, but all soon became clear. I dropped the Zoo Key travel bug.

PMAX - Page Mill Animal Exchange

By: javrach Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I got a bad start by taking the first little trail I found, but soon corrected, and found the cache fairly quickly.

On the way to the Pond

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was by at 8:00 am and dropped the Army of the 12 Monkeys #3.

Bob's Bench

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Fairly breezy this afternoon. There were others picnicing at the pullout, but Bob's Bench was empty.

Foothills OSP

By: darrenk13 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The views were amazingly wide up here. Thanks for a nice little hike.

Boulter's Rule #28 of Geocaching in the Bay Area

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

8:10 am - Spotted the spot before the GPSr zeroed in.

Between Two Spaces

By: Marky & Joani & Woof! Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I almost made a bad mistake here. I zeroed out on the road, and went to the wrong side and over the fence to investigate an old stump and log. As I was rummaging around in a big rotten space under the log, I heard a noise that eventually registered somewhere down the preservation part of my brain. I haven't heard the sound in the wild before, but it was unmistakeably the sound of a rattlesnake giving its last warning. I straightened up and shot a look at my legs, and they were both clear and the sound stopped. I looked again under the log, and there was a little rattler ready to do battle. I made my apologies and excused myself to go find the cache on the other side of the road.

Secret Trailhead #3 - Sanborn Park

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I came by months ago, found the hint, but evidently the cache was missing. Today was a piece of cake with the cache actually there.

Jul 28, 2004

Along the De Anza Trail 5 - Mountain View

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I've seen one of these markers before -- in Los Altos. I was geocaching at the time, of course.

Castro Park

By: sammydee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I haven't been down this street in a while. I lived in an apartment a few blocks away about 30 years ago.

Border Patrol #1

By: DavidT21 & Fisherwoman Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I stopped by on my lunch hour a few weeks ago, and the place was packed, so I moved on. After work today, there were still plenty of folks here, but I made a good guess on the cache location, and casually grabbed it.

Jul 26, 2004

Middlefield Field

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

This was my third stop on a noontime run down Middlefield. Found it without much trouble.

San Veron Park

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

I plunked down on the grass, spotted it, and grabbed when the nearby maintenance workers weren't watching.

Whisman Park

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I hadn't been to this park before and it is surprisingly large. I plunked down where I thought the cache would be and grabbed it.

What A Crock!

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Came by for a quick noontime grab, and had a look at the sculpture.

Slobinovich

By: The Rat Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The first part is now straightforward with the partially filled-in worksheet. I thought I knew how the remainder should be solved, but it didn't work until I tried a variation this evening. I may make my own puzzle based on how I thought the last part should work.

Jul 24, 2004

Indian Rock

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I wandered around a bit and found the two ant hills before finding the cache. The ants caught up to me while I was signing, and gave some urgency to the job.

Skyline Snowman

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

My GPSr was all over the woods (and I along with it). I eventually hooked up my external antenna to get a little more signal. The fact that the cache is by a tree doesn't exactly give much away here.

Indian Rock Trailhead

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

This one took a few minutes because I zeroed in on the wrong object from the hint. I picked up the California geocoin.

Upper Sanborn Park

By: Marky Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

This cache was a nice bonus after stopping by the nearby trailhead.

Sunnyvale Mtn. Trailhead

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I had not noticed this trailhead before. It was empty this morning.

Jul 23, 2004

Sorta Secret Walkway - Laser Car Wash?

Convolute of the Square (a.k.a. ANTS!)

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I got lucky and peeked over in the exact right spot.

Rengstorff Park # 2

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Made a noontime hike through the park. It has been many years since I last visited here and there have been big changes.

Big Lady

By: nostrada (adopted by workerofwood) Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I spotted the likely location on my first visit. This time I searched more thoroughly, with a little help from my flashlight.

Agnew Park

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

A maintenance guy eats his lunch in a truck parked in front of the cache. I came back just before 7 am this morning and had the place to myself.

Jul 20, 2004

Amjitsu

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Found it after checking the reasonable places. My GPSr pointed about 50 ft way.

Interesting hide. I also spotted the old sign with a trail map.

Cry Wolfe

By: Brute-Force Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

I was in the neighborhood, shopping at Sears with Mrs. Bytemobile. We took a couple minutes to find the cache before heading on to the next store. The find turned out to be an easy one.

We Dig Cemeteries

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

Very clever hide. There is a little sticking problem that can be overcome by using a little leverage and gravity.

Well, this is efficient -- 5th find in 30 minutes.

No N.U.T.S. Here!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

I'm getting used to the cache spacing along here. As long as I don't have to spend too much time searching, I don't mind the frequent stops.

High Ridge

By: Nankoweap Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

My path up was a little circuitous, but not too bad. The return was easier.

Not Cinnabar

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

The cache title is right on.

Snowman in July

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I say he's wearing a fireman's hat, which is out of character for a snowman.

It's a Gas

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

There were 8 or 10 cyclists congregated here, but I just sideled up to it, had a look, and made the grab.

Shady Vista

By: Leeloo & Nasir Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The path to this cache is pretty well worn.

Jul 16, 2004

Adobe Slough Bridge

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

The cache was basically empty, so I dropped a travel bug.

Ammo Box Cache

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I wasn't looking forward to heading up this trail again, but I was out here for a couple other caches, so I slogged on up the trail.

Cache with a View!

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

This one was placed shortly after my last Rancho San Antonio hike so it has been on my list for a while.

Pass Over Art

By: PhilippeGPS (Adopted by MotorBug) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Lots of traffic by here for the Art and Wine Festival. I commend Kablooey on a fine job of re-hiding. He must have long arms.

Redwood Preserve

By: PhilippeGPS (Maintained by MotorBug) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Lots of bikers and hikers by here today.

Border Patrol #3

By: DavidT21 & Fisherwoman Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Santa Cruz Art Tour

By: Chickasaw Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Kyra's Cache

By: HoundGrrls Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Did a little bit of unnessary clomping on the ice plant, but spotted it eventually.

Yacka Splash Cache

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

The ocean was fairly quiet this morning, but the joggers and dog walkers were out in force. Had to wait for a break in traffic to retrieve the cache and put it back.

Cliffhanger Jog & Log Micro

By: 2LuknF8 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The jogger traffic was heavy this Saturday morning, but found it and signed the log without too much problem. I'm not sure the cache is in its original location since there seems to be some velcro on the outside.

S.C. Birdwalk Cache

By: grumpybear and jtkcacher Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

Magnificent Mill

By: Seacliff Troll Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Cliff or Beach

By: ~del Mar~ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We're camped at Seacliff Beach for the holiday weekend, and this is a new one since we were here on Memorial Day. Found it after a little wandering around.

Secret Trailhead #11 - Nisene Marks

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

It took me nearly three hours of pedaling up the road through Nissene Marks. I would have turned around at "Between Overlooks", but I wanted to find out (what the hint for this cache says).

Sand Point Overlook

By: Pedaler Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Other

I spent nearly a hour and a half of pedaling and pushing my bike up from the mill site. The cache is well hidden behind the vegetation.

Between Overlooks

By: Pedalman Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

This cache serves as an incentive to keep pedaling instead of turning around at Sand Point Overlook. Found it fairly quickly, and it is in good shape.

Cobalt Blue Vier

By: Iron Chef Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I hiked down the beach, and came back via the tracks. The finding took me up and down the bluff a couple times.

Rollin Down the Highway One Blues

By: Just a Short Walk & Along for the Ride! Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

After reading the logs, I had crossed this one off my list, but it was still in my GPSr, and I ended up stopping. If you take the indirect route to the cache via the well beaten path, watch out for the poison oak and stinging nettles.

Den 8 No #1

By: Pack 566, Den 8 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

As I was making a B-line from where I parked to the cache location, I went near the camp host site. The camp host came out and asked if he could help me, then spotted my GPSr, and said "Oh, you're one of those GPS guys. There was one by here yesterday".

Soquel Convergence

By: sk8guru Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

After "Blue Ball Park", I should have just hiked up the hill, but I let my GPSr autoroute me around for a while first. The plaques in the grass around the edge of the ball field are worth a look.

wbp

By: Ashelin (adopted by DarkZen) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

As I was signing the log, someone came over the footbridge, and said hello and said he knew what I was up to and knew the cache owner.

TreeTop Flying

By: G A-DayTrippers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

My first plan was to start from the small trailhead purported to be at N 37 00.339 W 121 58.949. I let my GPSr autoroute me there and ended up on Paul Sweet Rd, and the trailhead location is about 150 feet off the road, well after it becomes a private road. Finally, I drove around the the "old neighborhood", hiked in and found it fairly quickly.

Blue Ball Park

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

It took a little poking around and staring, but I finally spotted it.

The title says it all. I had been up to Walden West before, but hadn't seen the youth hostel.

Secret Stairway #2- Downtown Saratoga

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I tend to avoid caches that might take a while to find, but this one turned out to be fairly straightforward.

Sanborn Cache

By: thegreers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

The electronic compass on my GPSr wasn't working (I have since learned to power down and re-calibrate.) so I wandered before I found the right trail and the right direction. The cache was a fairly quick find when I got to the right area.

Jen and Charlie's Flies cache

By: Jen and Charlie Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This is an easy find -- you just follow the cacher trail off the main trail. I didn't see any yellow jackets. This was a nice Sunday morning hike -- just over an hour round trip from the Summit Rock parking area -- except for the guns blasting away at the gun club.

Secret Trailhead #9 - Vasona

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I don't know why I spent more than my usual 10-minute time limit trying to find this, but I did. The coordinates were good, and there didn't seem to be that many possibilities to check out, and finally I fumbled on to it.

Mystery Cache

By: WildFlowerWoman & BerkyOlBoy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Not chosen

The cache weathered the winter beautifully in its little burrow. This was our last stop before heading home from a two day backpack trip around the Dinkey Lakes loop. We found the best fishing to be at First Dinkey Lake. We also caught a very tasty 12" rainbow trout at Swede Lake. Thanks for the cache.

Granny Goose Sunset

By: Caddis, RC Glider Guy and friends Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

There is a hard way and an easy way to do this cache. The easy way would have been to head off trail as we were coming down from South Lake, and hike up a gentle slope to the cache. The hard way is to go all the way down to Swede Lake, then hike/climb straight up to the cache. I passed a couple rock climbers on my way up this route. The cache is in excellent shape.

How Swede It Is

By: Dave Wallace and Ellen Chilton Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

According to the cache log, I am about the third finder of the season. A couple of them were accidental finders. I was off finding Granny Goose Sunset, while my sons went ahead and found a camp and started fishing. After I caught up, I pulled out my GPSr, and found that they had thrown their packs right the rock that hides this cache, so you could call it an easy find. The cache is in great shape.

tommycache, dinkey lakes chapter

By: Tom Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

I found one cache on this summit, and it was a green ammo box, so it must be this cache. At the time, I was sure I found the cache by Alley, but re-reading the web pages, that one is a tupperware container. Anyway, the views up here are first-rate, and I was glad for the cache incentive to hike up here. The cache and its contents were in great shape.

Welcome to the Rock

By: Chickermunker Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

We checked into the Best Western, which is geocache central for Clovis. This one is a few hundred feet out the front door, and there is another a few hundred out the side door. Found this one about 10 pm, my first night cache. My flashlight wasn't working but I grabbed where I thought it would be and came up with it.

The family was camped at Seacliff for the weekend and WireBender and I decided to do this one as a long hike up the beach. It was a great day for a hike. Thanks for a great cache.

Shake Your Bootie

By: Coralgeo (initially placed by Raygun_88) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I messed up right at the start of this trail. The trail disappeared at the creek. I didn't notice that it picked up on the other side -- headed downstream -- apparently the opposite direction that I wanted to go. I ended up scrambling up the creek until the trail came back across about 1/3 mile later. I also didn't read the web page very closely. I was looking about 150 m past the epicenter, rather than 150 m past the switchbacks. I finally headed up the trail a bit farther and found the cache fairly quickly, now that I was in the right area.

Doug Moi and I got our exercise today between this and Ohlone Sanctuary. The day started out cool and misty, but turned out fine for biking and hiking. By: TeamJiffy Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I started on this some time ago, got the square messed up and gave up. This one was the hardest for me to solve. The pattern is easy once I saw it.

Magic Squares of Odd Orders

By: TeamJiffy Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

Since the Magic Squares puzzles were all so close to home, I decided to get going and solve them. Thanks for the puzzle.

Commodore Fun

By: componenx Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Gee, it has been a while since someone logged this. I thought a little cache location hint would have been nice. Thanks for some lunchtime diversion.

This made a nice end to our "Mountain History" trek. Thanks Fogheads.

Mountain History

By: Kealia Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Spent a nice morning following the steps of the multicache with DougMoi. The history lessons were great and the sights were even better. The cache was chock full of good stuff, and we especially enjoyed reading the info sheets.

Montalvo Water Company

By: 2marbleheads Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

Saw the Fogheads a couple times this morning and had a nice chat with them. They beat me to this one. This was my last of six this morning in Montalvo.

Pay Attention

By: I_LiKe_PiE Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

I paid attention and found it fairly quickly. Thanks for the cache.

The Luuuuv Cache

By: I_LiKe_PiE Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

There are a couple of interesting structures currently on display on the lawn nearby -- a sort of wicker house and a sort of sod house. Thanks for the cache.

Montalvo Crossing

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I sure someone will get spotted sooner or later doing this one because of the number of people through here. TNLNSL.

Montalvo Lookout

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I used to take my sons up here years ago. Last weekend I saw that there were no geocaches at Montalvo, so I got an ammo box, stocked it up and was going to put it near Lookout Point this morning, but then wham! last night I saw there were six new caches at Montalvo. I personally would not have made this one such a nasty job to retrieve... but thanks for the cache.

Wildcat Creek Shell Cache

By: 2marbleheads Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Made a quick grab after the trail traffic cleared. TNTLSL.

Clip Joint

By: The Rat Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Another Rat puzzle bites the dust. This was the hardest one for me so far. The main problem was getting started. Once I had a foothold, it went fairly quickly. The cache was an easy find. Thanks a bunch.

Apr 1, 2004

Hail Caesar

By: The Rat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Another Rat puzzle crossed off my list. My GPSr had a little trouble here, but other than that it was an easy find. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.

Secret Walkway #3 - Over 85

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

My GPSr zeroed out about 20 feet south, but I managed to find it without too much trouble. I wrote a little C program to generate the solutions in a few seconds.

No problems finding it or grabbing it, but a geomuggle behind me saw me put it back.

Chamise Trail Mini-Meadow

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

My ninth find in Rancho San Antonio, and I'm still not done. I almost gave up on this one. My GPSr zeroed out withing a few feet of the cache, but my eyeballs refused to see it.

Cipher Sites

By: The Rat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

Thanks for the cryptography intro. Now, on to the other Rat puzzles.

Circular Reasoning

Mar 25, 2004

Elliptical Reasoning

By: The Rat Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I stopped by to check out the area on my way home from work. My calculations worked fine, but put me a little north because of the spherical approximation. My weapon of choice was Matlab.

This was my seventh find in Rancho San Antonio. Thanks for the hike!

Nice spot for a cache. I wouldn't have come to this part of the park without geocaching.

Undecimal

By: The Rat Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Nice puzzle (since I was able to solve it). The hike was quite warm for March.

crabbels CASE

By: PhilippeGPS (maintained by The Rat) Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I solved the first step, but had to have a hint for the second. Nice puzzle.

Great cache. Including a flashlight was a nice touch. DougMoi and I snapped pictures of each other with the cache camera.

Say Hello To The Pigs

Nice cache on a warm spring day. The wildflowers are popping up and so are new shoots of poison oak here there and everywhere.

Feb 27, 2004

York Bridge

By: perthos - Maintained by Belplasca Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Found this one fairly quickly on our way out of the Park. I think it is the smallest micro I have seen. This was my second UK cache.

Jehangir Fountain

By: perthos - Maintained by Belplasca Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

After the zoo closed at 4:30, we hiked over to the fountain. I pull out my GPSr and let it get used to the idea that it wasn't in California anymore. It first lead me about 100 feet away, then back to where I started, and I found my first UK cache.

Our Lady of the River

By: Kreebelle & Kids (maintained by WalruZ) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

The first of four caches in Rancho San Antonio today. The balance beam was a bit slippery from the rain.

Powerpuff Peak

By: The Carpetsharks Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

Saw lots of deer and quite a few hikers and runners for a rainy day. My fourth and final find in Rancho San Antonio today. With the rain picking up, I headed for the Bytemobile.

The Oaks

By: KurtS (adopted by budd-rdc) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

The "Y" in the Road

Feb 13, 2004

Foreign Exchange

By: I_LiKe_PiE Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

I just figured out that there is more than one cache named Foreign Exchange. I logged the wrong one back in February, and am logging the right one now (7/31/04).

Fake Monkey Writing

By: kablooey Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The cache needs a little maintenance. The log is full, and is soaking wet. Nice cammo, and fun puzzle.

Mellow Brick Road

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Quick find, with the hint. Nice cammo.

Moulin Jagra Architecture

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I gave up, put on my day pack, then had one last look and found it.

Priest Rock

By: Marky and Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

The wind whipping through the power lines and towers made quite an eerie sound today. Found the cache fairly quickly and took the Silver Bullet Brigade travel bug.

Feb 7, 2004

Mars' Cache

By: pbshoe Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

This is certainly off the beaten path.

Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve ~ MROSD

By: MROSD (adopted from Marky & Joani) Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Hit this fairly late in the afternoon after doing El Sombroso. I didn't see a travel bug.

Secret Trailhead #14 - Sierra Azul

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This one took a little while to find. beckerbuns did a fine job of re-hiding. Took nothing, left nothing.

Sombroso Spur

By: pedaler Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 4.5 Container: Regular

I think the trail (or NOT A TRAIL according to the ranger who signed the log) could use a little more pruning. I would suggest long pants and long sleeves.

El Sombroso

By: Pedalman Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

This was a major trek, but I was expecting it. I walked my bike up a number of hills. Picked up the Yosemite Bear travel bug.

Bald Mountain Cache

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I hid the cache a little better than I found it since it was quite visible. Dropped the Yosemite Bear travel bug, after biking over from El Sombroso with it.

Camo Micro

By: Team Weirdwonz Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Quick find, using the hint.

Feb 6, 2004

Jan 31, 2004

My Kind Of Town - Campbell

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Made a fairly quick find with the aid of the hint. Not many folks around early on a Saturday morning.

More Digits

By: PhilippeGPS (now managed by WeBeDnD) Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Found it after getting the hints sheet from the Digits cache yesterday. All in all, Digits and More Digits were a couple of pretty nice, challenging caches.

Thirsty?

By: Mallrat46 & 2 & armofreek Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Fairly quick find due to the hints, but I thought the coordinates could be improved a little.

Yes Way, Jose!

By: Aargnzarf & Kikipopo Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This cache could use a new (very) small ziploc bag. The log was damp and the old, full logs should probably be removed.

Jan 30, 2004

Digits

By: PhilippeGPS (now managed by WeBeDnD) Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Most of the parking requires a $4 fee, payable at a pay station near the north entrance. I parked at the Canyon Picnic area and also did Operation Futari and The Mt Eden Trail Cache. I took hint card #14 for More Digits.

Operation Futari

By: The Rat Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Most of the parking requires a $4 fee, payable at the Chestnut Lot pay station near the north entrance. I parked at the Canyon Picnic area (N 37 16.774, W 122 04.384) and also did The Mt Eden Trail Cache and a certain puzzle cache.

The Mt Eden Trail Cache

By: Mcgrude-n-Nif (adopted by budd-rdc) Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Not chosen

Parking at the suggested trailhead is free, but I paid $4 to park at the Canyon Picnic area (N 37 16.774, W 122 04.384), since it is a central location for also doing Operation Futari and a certain puzzle cache. You have to stop at the pay station near the north entrance to the park to get the parking sticker.

Quick noontime cache, after not seeing it a month or so ago.

By: DavidT21 & Fisherwoman Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Jan 25, 2004

billy goats cache

By: DCgeotracker Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Had to wait for a break in trail traffic before grabbing this one. I even had to wait for a ranger to pass by. I was glad I had a flashlight in my pack.

Hiked down for this one after geocaching St. Joseph's Hill. Found it after a short hunt along the top of the temple.

Saw a fairly fresh animal skull and jaw bones near the cache.

Under the High Wire

By: Loma Costanoan Indian Princesses Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

By: SuperDC Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Came from Under the High Wire and found it fairly quickly with the hints.

Jan 24, 2004

By the log, it looks like a couple other geocachers were out on this damp day.

Secret Walkway #1 - Short & Shady

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I was hoping the cache wasn't where it thought it was on this damp and muddy day, but it was.

Belgatos - HOSP

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

Got this one without too much trouble, but the one at the trailhead still eludes me.

Fairly busy park, even on a damp day. Found it fairly quickly.

The Letters (disabled-cache missing?)

By: Barefoot & Twinkle Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

The closest trail head is at N 37 14.468 W 122 06.350 and parking is free. I picked up the Lil'Jet travel bug.

Cat's Locker

Hiked in from Hollydaze in August. Found it without any trouble, and dropped off the High Adventure travel bug.

I wonder where the trail goes. Picked up High Adventure travel bug.

Hollydaze in August

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I gave up on this one, headed out to find Cat's Locker, came back and met Semi-Hex and a couple friends gathered around and signing the log, right where I had given up a couple hours before.

Peace Of Mind

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Had a peaceful and solitary hike in. Note that when you come to the first tee in the trail coming from the nearest trailhead, you want to go left. Found it without any trouble and dropped off Lil'Jet #2 travel bug.

Wet Tree Cache

By: Loobpug Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

I think the hint is mandatory. My GPSr was mostly worthless here. Great spot!

By the Lake

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Easy find with the hint. Nobody was around today except a couple trucks that came roaring through.

Away from the pond

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I didn't get the hint, but the good coordinates put me right on it.

El Sereno Open Space Preserve ~ MROSD

By: MROSD (Adopted from Rosy 3) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I was the only one out here this morning. It was foggy, however, and the views were limited.

Hairpin Micro View

The view was a little foggy this morning, but you could still see Lexington Reservoir.

By The Pond

By: Team Drunken Master Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I should have read the logs before my visit. I also found the posted coordinates to be about 50 feet off. The cache currently has some great trading items for kids, if you don't mind wandering around by the nettles and blackberry bushes.

Ava's Birthday

By: spyder woman Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

The streets here are quite a maze. The container is not quite waterproof and the log slightly damp, but usable.

Jan 3, 2004

Do you hear water running?

By: jader88 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This cache is pretty well exposed, although it doesn't necessarily look like a cache. It must be harder to find in the summer.

Le Tour de France

By: bykenut Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

I think the hint is a necessity for this cache. It is very well hidden.

Jan 2, 2004
