10 am - I drove past this one in Supply, NC today. It doesn't say it's retired, but they have 3 shiny new trucks inside and this one has boards behind its tires, so I think it's been relegated to parade duty.

I found this old cemetary in Southport, NC while doing a another cache here. I thought it would be easy to find a confederate soldier in one of these places, but it took me quite a while.
This is the grave of William R. Ferguson of Company A, 37th Virgina Infantry. It's complete with a confederate flag and a VFW stake. The Civil War was a foreign war??

I found this moose in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota Intl. Airport. It was outside (and inside) a gift shop there.

12:44 pm - Finally got one of these! I don't know how many times I've taken the requisite pictures but found that the spot had already been taken. This one's only been here since September, so I guess I got lucky.
This huge baseball marks Bobby Bonds Memorial Field at JFK Elementary School in Daly City, CA. Check out the plaque for more info.

I found a bunch of Penny Smashers on the Santa Cruz pier. One of these was not the one that Yar?Yar! logged. I think this is the right one.

This is the East Brother Lighthouse in Richmond, CA, just north of the Richmond - San Rafael Bridge.
The light was built in 1874. There's a lot of history behind the lighthouse, so much there's a whole book about it: http://www.ebls.org/book/book.htm
The lighthouse is currently also a bed and breakfast in a pretty cool spot.

Unbelievable. My second attempt at finding a swinging bridge and I find a bridge that is logged the same day. Nuts to me for not logging my caches promptly.
We were driving down US 90 on Sunday when I saw this one. I got a decent shot of it which was amazing since we were going 65 (there was no place to stop on the bridge). I forgot to get the GPSr in the picture though so I guess it woudn't count anyway. But this is a better shot of short circuit 2's
bridge and you can see a boat going through it.

4:30 pm - I'm amazed this LC wasn't taken, since there's a cache right under it! I almost didn't bother taking a picture. This tiny old Jail is in San Juan Bautista, California and is near the San Juan Bautista Mission. It was used to house mostly drunkards on Saturday nights. Today it's part of a state park, right next to the restrooms. SMILIE

8:50 am - This spot is right near my favorite place to park outside of San Jose airport. Since you can't sit and idle anywhere inside, I usually park right around here because it's close. It's sure better than doing laps around the terminals.
Anyway, it was a parking lot behind some corporate buildings right next to CA State Highway 87. It took me a while to get the coordinates and the picture, but they eventually came out OK.

10:30 am - Last weekend I drove by here and noticed a sign that said "Carillon School". Hmm, might there be a Carillon near the school? Sure enough, some quick research found a Carillon at the Christ Church in Portola Valley, California. Here's their website: http://www.ccpvw.org/ . Cool bells. Thanks!

3:23 pm - MotorBug and I were on our way to another cache when I saw this beat of a tractor along the road. I did a uey and grabbed a shot or two. It's about time I spotted one of these!

4:40 pm - St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Los Gatos, California has some seriously Alamo-style architecture going on. It's got the "hump" and two bells. Here's their website. http://www.stlukeslg.org/

8:20 am - I happened to spot this building in downtown Mountain View, California while waiting on a traffic light the other day. I saw it from a distance so I wasn't quite sure what it was. I marked the waypoint to come back later.
Today I came back to check it out and it was as I expected. It's a boring blank wall of an office building painted over with an image of a building with huge glass windows overlooking green hills, with palm trees swaying. The mural is by San Francisco-based artist John Wullbrandt http://www.wullbr
I got a picture of the mural and the "plaque".

11 am - We found this mermaid sculpture in Sebastapol, CA on the way to Bodega bay. She's part of a collection of metal sculptures on this funky street.

11:24 am - I concur - I like L.A. a lot more since I moved away. [:D]
I found this "Hollywood Tans" place in a strip mall in Manchester, New Hampshire. I was thankful for an excuse to get out of christmas eve shopping traffic.
There was also a Hollywood video in the same parking lot, but that was too easy. SMILIE Thanks.

12:30 pm - This is Point Lobos State Reserve in Carmel, California. It was a popular set for movie locations until the 1960's. Classics such as "Rebecca" and "A Summer Place" were shot here. A sign in the museum lists them all. It's quite a beautiful place!

4:40 pm - I was walking into the Dublin, CA library when I noticed a plaque on the ground. A time capsule - cool! I didn't think I had my camera with me, but I fished around in my bag and found it. Looks like this one will be dug up in 2052.
