Find the S in Stevens Creek

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

3:59 pm - We were here in March 2003. It was one of our earlier caches and we found the hint, but not the cache. I wasn't as clued in on the rules so I logged it as a find anyway.
I always felt bad about that so while I waited 3 hours for the "new tires in 30 minutes" place, I took a walk over to see if I could really find it.

You'd think I might have learned something about the geography of Mountain View in the last year, but I made almost all the same wrong turns that w
e made last year, but they were much more expensive mistakes on foot.

Of course once I made it to the cache, I found it right away and signed the fresh log book. I'm happy this cache is still around so my conscience is clear. :-)

Round 'n' about the Roundabout

By: smellythestupidslave Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

8:20 pm - Nice neighborhood. This one had me driving in circles. I didn't even have to get out of the car for the first 3 stages. I wasn't sure what to do with only 2 digits for C, so I tried one option first which was wrong. The second option was right on. TNLNSL.
And it's called a 'Rotary', not a 'Roundabout'. You west coast people... :-)

Day on the Gravel

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

8:47 pm - It was dark out and my car's low fuel warning light was on, which meant this was the last cache of the day. I found it quickly with the hint. Thanks, MotorBug.

Plug Ugly? 3

By: Mr. Ranger Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

7:17 pm - Nice spot for a cache. It took a bit of searching, but I finally found it in a well-hidden place. That spot seemed to make the camo mostly unnecessary, but it was impressive anyway. I took a globe ball and left $1.
Why do you need to go around calling these plugs ugly? Plugs have feelings too, you know. :-)
Thanks.

That Cache by the Duck Pond

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

7:25 pm - So given this area's history, what are our bets on how long this one will last? :-)
I've seen this container a few times before so I spotted it quickly. TNLNSL. Thanks.

Tyler's Mural

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

7:38 pm - Hey, nice job Tyler! I checked the right spot first but didn't see it, so I had to do another round to find it. I wouldn't recommend this one as a night cache; the neighborhood is bit scary. Thanks.

Vintage Oaks

By: datrio Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

8:35 pm - I probably shouldn't have updated my GPSr firmware with the beta version. While trying to get to this one it locked up while calculating a route, I had to remove the batteries, and I missed several turns. That was the hardest part of finding t his cache I think.
I thought the warnings on the top of the container were funny. TNLNSL. Thanks.

Jackson Park

By: darrenk13 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

7:06 pm - My god, a park in Mountain View was nearly cacheless! Thanks for fixing that! Found it quickly with the hint and TNLNSL.

What A Crock!

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

6:32 pm - There was a person here when I arrived, but luckily she had chosen the other spot. I had to get high to find this one. I just finished putting it back when a bus rolled up.
TNLNSL. Thanks.

Rengstorff Park # 4

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

7:28 pm - Because I usually like to do things the wrong way, this was the first Rengstorff cache I found in the series. I watched a sk8r dude while I signed the log and replaced the cache. Thanks.

Rengstorff Park # 3

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

7:35 pm - The last time I was here was for the Mountain View city-wide yard sale. Mostly junk. Today it was nearly as crowded with people participating in a ton of different activities. Found the cache lickety-split and I was off for .5 lesser cache. Thanks.

Rengstorff Park # 1

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

8:18 pm - I usually become completely incompetent when people watch me try to find a cache, but today I was lucky and found it in the second place I looked while mjp303 watched. Thanks for your first and my last in the series!

San Veron Park

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

6:56 pm - I wasn't sure if I should walk or drive over from Middlefield Field. Sometimes you just end up walking the same distance once you find parking. Parking wouldn't have been a problem, but it was a nice walk anyway.
I liked moo13's log: "GPS is stupid."

I looked around for a tortoise on the loose, but didn't see one. Maybe the crock ate him.

TNLNSL. Thanks.

Whisman Park

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

6:40 pm - This was a quick one once a woman with two dogs passed. Thanks for the cache.

Rengstorff Park # 2.5

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

8:13 pm - I was walking over to this one with my GPSr flat in my hand like it usually is when I thought to myself that it would be really obvious to anyone that knew what GPS was what I was doing. Then exactly that happened. A guy in a car stopped next to me and asked if I had found this one yet. I said no, but I was on my way to try. mjp303 reparked his car and we went over.
We searched for quite a few minutes and I had to run to the airport soon so I called MotorBug for a lifeline. He didn't answer. A few minutes later I found it in a very tricky spot. I needed mjp's help in getting it out. Nicely done. Thanks.

Castro Park

By: sammydee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

7:16 pm - Thanks not putting the cache in the playgound equipment. It was quite busy over there today. This was a new container to me and a little wet inside so I tried to close it tightly without making it too tight. Thanks.

Middlefield Field

By: MotorBug Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

6:49 pm - Interesting placement. Shouldn't the cache be in the middle of the Middlefield Field? :-)

Along the De Anza Trail 5 - Mountain View

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

7:24 pm - These markers just keep popping up. Any idea how many there are? There's a sign but no plaque when getting on 237 from El Camino Real that I know of.
Found the cache and TNLNSL. Thanks.

Blue Light Special

By: beck1980 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

5:05 pm - 5 pm is a bad time to try this one. At quitting time employees came streaming out the front door. I checked a few spots where I expected the cache to be, but then I read the logs and realized it couldn't be there. While waiting for more employees to clear I spotted the real hiding spot and made the quick grab. I'll have to come back for the blue lights and some more whiffs of that sweet smell from across the street.

Almost Home

By: The Owl and The Pussycat Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

4:13 pm - This was a busy trail this afternoon, but an easy find once the coast was clear. TNLNSL. I'm loking forward to finishing this series and figuring out what these clues mean.

Mission Hospice

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

3:06 pm - I failed on this one a few weeks ago. In the meantime I got a hint. Of course this time I saw it right away even before I thought about the hint. I was surprised you could even sign the log in there.
What's with the gas station turned retirement home around the corner?

Thanks!

And the rest

By: bthomas Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

2:52 pm - Well that was interesting. I even got some sea spray (sprinklers we on). Easy find and interesting place. TNLNSL. Thanks.

Not-So-Secret Trailhead #1

By: Woof! Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

3:36 pm - Well, this one was a secret to me. I misinterpreted the hint and it took me a while to find it. It sure was busy in the middle of the afternoon today.
Very cool place. I'm looking forward to coming back for the other caches in this park. I could never figure out how to get in there.

Thanks.

Minor Inconvenience

By: Woof! Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

4:07 pm - This was an interesting puzzle. Some of the clues threw me completely off, but I eventually figured it out with some of Woof!'s help.
I spotted the cache quickly, but I was delayed in replacing it while two people spontaneously started a long conversation about a dog. Thanks!

Secret Trailhead #2 - Burlingame

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

3:56 pm - I looked in the right place for this one, but didn't see it and then I read the hint and saw it on a second glace. Interesting little park. I took a map for my collection. Thanks.

BART - Millbrae

By: normanb Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

4:39 pm - I parked for free across the tracks at the city lot and walked over. Fancy new station. I walked up and then down so I had to walk up again. Quick find and a nice view. Thanks.

CalTrain - Millbrae

By: normanb Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

4:26 pm - I spotted a likely area for the cache from a distance and found it right there. Another one bites the dust. Thanks.

Es Effo Bug Hotel

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

5:28 pm - I just landed here from Hawaii 11 hours ago, but after a good nap, I was here again to grab the cache.
I looked for parking at the hotel, but turned around at the gate. I was about to look elsewhere when I saw the parking for the park. Very nice.

I didn't expect the cache to be where it was and was a little worried about people freaking out with me fooling around there, but I think I made it in an
d out ok. I spent a while looking for a travel bug that I could help, but they all seemed to want to go west. Very frustrating. TNLNSL.

Oh well, cool view from here. My paranoia increased when I left when I saw a police officer and a dog sniffing around the park. But it's been found since then so I
guess we're good. Thanks.

Honeymooner's Cache

By: scarredknee Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

6:22 pm - On my first trip here I didn't find it. I was focusing too much on where I thought it would be. I came back later in the day after seeing the photo and found it after a few minutes. It's quite visible once you're in the right spot. Very cool log book.
TNLNSL. Thanks.

NIC'S NIGHTMARE

By: K-NIC Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Micro

9:49 am - This was one of the closest caches to where we were staying in Lahaina, but it wasn't until our last day here that we went for it because we were trying to find a time when it wouldn't be crazy hot out. Since it gets dark relatively early here, morning seemed to be the best time.
The trek was tough, but didn't take too long. Once I got there, I spent a long time trying to find the cache, checking each nook and cranny, even going around the front of the overhang. Nothing.

As a last resort, I called TeamAlamo back in California who had found it a few months ago and he confi
rmed that I was looking in the right place. I wasn't going to accept defeat after hiking up all this way, so I scrounged through my backpack and found two empty film canisters, but with no caps.

Being the MacGyver I am, I discovered that I could squeeze one of them and insert it into the other, mak
ing a pretty good seal. I found a reciept in my wallet, wrote "geocaching.com" and "NIC'S NIGHTMARE" on it, signed it, and replaced the cache.

It now a few feet back from the edge of the outcropping, in a crevice covered with rocks. I hope that's OK.

Thanks for the great view and the workout!

Manawaipueo Gulch

By: Lazyboy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

10:21 am - Oh, it was hot out here today. I stumbled around a few minutes before I found it. The top was broken, but it seemed to be holding up OK anyway. TNLNSL. Thanks.

A Picture Says a Thousand Words

By: Patudles Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Virtual

11:31 am - I ran across this petroglyph on the Lahaina Pali trail in West Maui, Hawaii. The sign at the start of the trail says there are petroglphys along the trail, so I was excited to actually find one.
This ancient trail used to be the only way to get between West Maui from Central Maui before the road was built.

Iao Valley

By: WhipLash511 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

2:26 pm - Geez, I feel like I just got here and here's the cache. I was expecting a hike! Oh well, TNLNSL. Thanks.

Iao Needle

By: fireproof94 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

2:55 pm - I walked way past this one as I had trouble getting a signal. With the hint I spotted it without a problem.
I left an "outdoor cooking" student film CD and a nasa sticker. Took a central oregon caching pen and ball with a tongue. Also grabbed the Rascal the Snow Dog TB to bring back home. Thanks.

Rope Bridges of the World

By: Robert & Judit Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Virtual

3:37 pm - These rope (cable) bridges are in the Waihee Valley of Maui, Hawaii. The trail lead up to a dam and some neat places to swim.

Stone Bridges of the World

By: THE RATS Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

3:04 pm - I found a bunch of stone bridges in Waihe'e Valley on Maui, Hawaii. There's a trail that climbs up the valley to a dam. The bridges cross an aqueduct used to feed the sugar cane fields below.

Ancient Aqueducts

By: MAntunes Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

5:18 pm - This aqueduct in Waihee Valley, (Maui, Hawaii) was built in the late 1800's to provide fresh water for the booming sugar cane fields of Central Maui. Chinese workers blasted holes through the mountain to feed the water though and constructed roads and bridges up the valley.

Mission Madness

By: MartyFouts, Adopted by bullit Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

2:08 pm - We were driving along this crazy road in Maui a few days ago when I saw this mission, but decided not to make the family stop for the picture.
Today we were in Kaanapali and were going to Waihee, but I was tired of taking the same long drive around West Maui, so I took the wheel and drove around the cliffy route, picking this one up along the way.

Just before we reached here, I came over a hill with a sharp turn on the edge of a cliff a
nd found a van coming at me. It was then that I discovered that our rental car had ABS breaks. After that incident I needed a break too.

This is St. Francis Xavier mission, founded in 1846. We went up to the mission itself and it was just this tiny thing, but it had a nice view.

Baldwin Forest Stroll

By: Minnesota Dave Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

4:28 pm - All the signs in the parking lot warning about theft freaked me out a bit, so it was a quick stroll for us. There was some nice oblique thinking in the hide there. Took the poppers and left a small box of toothpaste (unopened). Thanks.

Whiplash511's Scholorship Cache

By: FireProof94 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

2:08 pm - Nice idea for a cache. What's the total so far? There's $2 in there now so he better come collect it before the next semester starts! Quick find, TNLNSL. Thanks.

Paia Final Stop

By: Minnesota Dave Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

3:28 pm - I saw this place on our drive to Hana a few days before, so it was nice to have an excuse to stop here and check it out.
We had trouble figuring out how to get here at first though and parked in a couple of wrong places before we finally parked east of the cache and walked along the road a bit.

Pretty spot. TNLNSL. We found a scary rusty knife near the cache. Thanks.

Paia Bunker View

By: Minnesota Dave Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

3:42 pm - I thought all the nice beaches were in West Maui, but I really liked this one with all the soft white sand. We found the cache OK and left a ball, taking a fingerboard. Thanks.

Baldwin Safari

By: Minnesota Dave Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

4:41 pm - This was a nice walk down the beach and we appreciated the shade at the end of this hot day.
I found it pretty quickly considering and we were headed back home. Thanks for the cache.

Kahului Tennis Courts

By: WhipLash511 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

1:56 pm - We had some trouble finding this one, so I decided to see if I could load the picture on my Treo. I downloaded it, but it was too bright out to see it, so I put my backpack down and stuck my Treo and my head in there to give it a look. Just as I was showing it to Mike, he announced that he found it. What? How could he find it with his head in my backpack? Turns I had put my backpack down right above the cache! Mystery solved. TNLNSL. Thanks.

see water?if so you are lucky

By: dmathi-1 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

12:54 pm - This one caused us some trouble. The first thing we saw was a golf ball in a tree. That's odd, we thought, and began searching for the cache. We forged through the grass and crawled under trees but found nothing. There were some monster spiders here!
When I came out of the bushes I was full of burrs. Ug. After checking the logs again, I went over to where the golf ball was and found the cache directly underneath. Took the golf ball. :-)

As I was walking around afterwards I felt a sharp pain in the bottom of my foot. I took my shoe off, but d
idn't see any rocks or anything. The next day when I went to put my shoes back on I found a surprise - thorns, up to an in ch long were protruding through my soles. Ouch. Watch out for those.

Thanks
for the cache.

Kahului Harbor Vista

By: Centennial Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

By: SYamato Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

1:10 pm - Well, the thermometer was broken, so couldn't tell you what the temperature was, but I can say for sure that it was HOT!
Found the cache pretty easily, took a raquietball and left a tennis ball. Thanks.

Busted Bunny Cache

By: czechcachers Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

11:10 am - Hoo-wee, it was hot out here today. Great view though and cool petroglyphs. We parked kinda where we were supposed to and did the climb up to the top. I found the cache without much trouble and TNLNSL. We decided to take the more adventurous route straight down the cliff on the way back. We nearly killed ourselves, but hey, that's what vacation is for. Thanks.

On the Run, In the Wind (Maui)

By: phillipm Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

2:38 pm - My GPSr was acting funny and pointing me in all kinds of directions here, but we eventually found it. There were no purple flowers around, which made them difficult to follow. I took a Capt. Jack signature magnet and left a witch koosh.
There was some sort of windsurfing competition going on today, so we stopped for a few minutes to watch them race around. Cool. Thanks for bringing us here.

R2H Series: PUAA KAA

By: Team Quiksilver Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Beer, Ice-cream or Candy

By: happymaui Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

6:56 pm - It was getting dark and we had a lot of the road back to Lanaina left to drive, but as we passed by my GPSr said that this cache was 50 feet away, so I had to stop. The store was closed at this time. I didn't spot the cache at first, but then saw it pretty much in plain view. I didn't notice the guy sitting in the truck a few feet away either, but he didn't seem to be paying attention.
Took the Airborne T-10 Parachute TB. Thanks for the cache. This road was lots of fun!

About that Garden (Botanical that is)

By: Vacman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

1:47 pm - We ran across Hakanu National Tropical Botanical Garden in Hana, Hawaii during our vacation on Maui. They apparently charge, so we didn't take the tour, but I made the family stop so I could take a picture. :-)

Speleo

By: Melak Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

2:14 pm - I found this cave in Wai'anapanapa Park in Hana, Maui, Hawaii. It's close to, but not the same cave as the Slain Queen Cave that TeamAlamo found. Unlike the other one, this one is not spring-fed and the water is pretty yucky.

Brad and Myrna's Honeymoon Cache

By: Brad & Myrna Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

2:55 pm - This was a really nice spot up on the cliff. I found it pretty quickly without the picture. The mosquitos made sure I didn't stick around too long though. TNLNSL. Thanks.

Natural Arches All Around

By: georgeandmary Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Not chosen

2:08 pm - I noticed this arch in Wai'anapanapa Park in Hana, Maui, Hawaii. It seems that Team RCTZ found it too on September 5, 2003 and their coordinates were only 24 feet away from mine which is amazing considering that this is a large area. Some people were diving off the lava pillars nearby. Cool place.

AV8R

By: jeff35080 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

1:58 pm - This is Hana airport on the island of Maui, Hawaii. It's a little thing, but it sure beats driving the crazy one-lane roads that get you to lovely Hana otherwise!

Beauty of Waterfalls

By: GeoTrout & AngelEyes76 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Virtual

1:23 pm - This is the blue pool, one of Maui's most magnificent waterfalls. The falls drop a couple hundred feet into a fresh water pool, just on the edge of the ocean shore. It's a popular place to swim.

Beyond Venus

By: Olomana Guy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

3:57 pm - Since there's no sign or indication that the pools are here, we missed the turn and had to to come back. Purrty pools. I was tempted to touch the electric fence we had to hop on the way in.
I found the cache easily, left nothing and took out what appeared to be a very melted candy. Thanks.

Grandma's idea

By: Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Fish Bowl

By: chiba_girl Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen

1:14 pm - We thought we were following the trail out here, but soon the trail became nothing and we were scrambling over lava rocks. That was arduous. Finally we made our way to the real trail and quickly made our way to the water. The snorkeling here was great. I took a break in the action to go get the cache. It took me a while to find, but it was very visible once I looked in the right spot.
Sorry to see this one went missing. I guess I was last to find it. I put it back exactly where I found it. I left the High Adventure TB. Hopefully he'll show up somewhere.

R2H Series: Intro to Twin Falls!

By: Team Quiksilver Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Other

11:59 am - We wandered around the woods for a while before we came back to the original spot. After consulting the logs, we started looking close to the right spot.
As we were looking, a woman stopped, turned around and asked us if we were geocaching. I said I was and she said her son was a cacher and had just run back to the car to get a cache description. Later I ran into Gr3nd3l, and gave him the coordindates for this one.

Finally we found it. It was just
where I was looking, I just missed it the first time. TNLNSL. Thanks.

The Palm Of The Hand

By: 47kyle47,TrevorMagic3,and The Bean Burrito Cl Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Not chosen

12:25 pm - At first I thought the cache was near the dam, but I went to join my family at the falls, figuring that I would hit it on the way back. While I was at the falls, a guy with a GPSr on his waist barreled by and headed for a spot which matched the description. Once I saw him pull out the cache I walked over and thanked Gr3nd3l for finding it for me. :-)
Cool falls and nice walk on a hot day. TNLNSL. Thanks.

Beauty of Waterfalls

12:23 pm - It's hard to go to Maui and not find a waterfall. Here's one I ran into while on the North Shore, close to Huelo. Twin Falls is a popular hike and place to swim.

Cliffs Edge, Maui

By: Bpinc Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

6:37 pm - I had to make two trips for this one. The coordinates were putting me up above where the cache actually was. I checked the logs and saw the picture before we came back and this time it was easy. It turns out that one of us had actually checked that spot, but apparently not well enough. TNLNSL. Thanks.

12:29 pm - After arguing with the family about where to stop on the road around west maui, we decided to stop here because of the cache. This was a great find. The cache was found easily and I TNLNSL.
Afterwards I went for some great snorkeling and found a spot where I was completely surrounded by swirling schools of fish. Pretty cool. Thanks.

We stayed for quite a while watching the blowhole. Neat stuff. TNLNSL. Thanks.

Got Screams?

By: bullit & mickeychopchop Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

7:47 pm - I convinced Anne, with her ailing sprained toe, to go out for a walk. What a nice wife. We took the nice walk out to the cache and walked past it a bit while some muggles went by. We turned around and then had to stop again when a guy with two dogs appeared. We tried to walk past him, but as we did, he said to me "I'll let you do the hard part." I didn't really understand what he was talking about, so I smiled and kept walking.
After a few more steps I turned around to find the guy staring at us. When he said "I'm looking for it too" I finally got it. I guess it was the absence of a GPSr that threw me off. He introduced himself as winini. Wow, I've wondering who winini was for a long time!

I went down to grab the cache
and returned with it while Anne and winini chatted. Apparently one of winini's seekers wasn't too happy that I found it before he did and tried to pee on it! I TNLNSL. Our task done, we walked back down to the car with winini, who we had actually parked right behind. He knew what we were doing the w
hole time. Sneaky.

Thanks for the cache and the opportunity to meet another cacher!

San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail #1

7:57 pm - We went for Got Screams first because for some reason my GPSr was pointing me across the street on our first pass and there were logs of supposed muggles about. Little did we know that winini was trailing us!
On the way back I grabbed it quickly and signed the log. Thanks for introducing us to this nice trail.

Lexington View

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

12:04 pm - Well, this one might be listed as a terrain 4, but I made it at least a 5.
First, I didn't believe that the only way to get to this one was to go all they way up, then back down. The satellite maps seemed to show a road near there, so I decided to see if I could get there by another route. I took a few turns off anonymous roads off 17.

The first one took me on a very st
eep and winding road past a tavern. I got to the top and found myself at a dead end in some guy's driveway. I was trying to figure out how to turn around without falling off the cliff when he came out his side door. "Clearly, I'm not where I want to be" I said. He laughed and helped me figure out h
ow to turn around up there while a couple of deer ran through his backyard. I did the steep drive back down, tried another side road, but never got closer than a half-mile, which here means on the wrong ridge.

I made a quick attempt at the next exit on 17 near a big barrel, but that quickly ended
in private property.

The next exit was Black Rd., so I gave that a try. That turns out to be the normal road up to the cache. Oh well.

After an uneventful and quick find at Hairpin View, I started down the hill to get to this one.

I had printed out a map, but I forgot to bring it. This turned out
to be a fateful mistake. A couple miles down I ran into a fork in the road. There was a sign that pointed to the left and said "Trail". They both seemed to run parallel and while my GPSr pointed slightly right, I decided to do what I never do, which is follow directions. This was the wrong time to
change my strategy, even though lots of bikes were on the trail and they had to be coming from somewhere.

A mile later, I got concerned that I wasn't getting closer to the cache; in fact I was mostly getting further away. I concluded that I must have gone the wrong way at the fork and started back
up.

At the fork, I went the "right" way and quickly made it to the cache, finding it easily. Nice cache and nice view. TNLNSL.

Now it was time to take the hike back at exactly noon, which was not in my plan. It wasn't oppressively hot out, but hot enough that I was quickly drenched in sweat. The
trail was fairly easy except for one killer part between the fork and the top of the hill.

I survived, even though I put in an extra 2.5 miles and 800 feet of elevation change. That was a tough one. Thanks for the cache.

Wet Tree Cache

By: Loobpug Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

2:01 pm - This was a fun scramble up the creek! I can see why this could be really hard in the spring or after it has rained.

TNLNSL. Thanks.

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

2:38 pm - I checked the right place first, but missed the cache, so I had to make a second pass. I just had time to replace it before some muggles came down the trail. This was a very picturesque spot in the afternoon.
TNLNSL. Thanks.

Away from the pond

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

3:27 pm - I was with a big group of 10 people when I tried this last and we DNF'd it. How sad.
Today I put my backpack down and started searching in every direction. I pretty much completed a loop when I found it about 20 feet from my pack. I TNLNSL.

The park was full of friendly people today and I had at least 4 conversations with other hikers, many of which seemed to think I knew my wa
y around here and asked me where the trail went.

At one point on the way back I noticed the side of the trail eroding at a suspicious rate, so I stopped to look and saw that there was something in the dirt on the side, pushing it out. I waited a while and finally a mole broke through. Neat.

When
I got back to my car I found out where all the people came from. When I parked I was the only one there, but now there were six other cars there!

Thanks for the pleasant walk.

Virginia Park Cache

By: Thefogheads Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

10:45 am - Nostrada and I were looking for this one when suddenly a guy on a bike appeared - one of the fogheads! We were about stumped at that point but them Marky and Joani showed up. With me, Nostrada, M
&
J and the owner, I figured I was guaranteed a find at this point.
There was a good reason we couldn't find this 1/1 - it was missing. We evaluated containers and placements until we found a good one and then we immediately removed it to sign the fresh log.

It was fun to run into everybody. Thanks!

Twin Troll House Bug Rest Stop

11:24 am - I assumed it would be in one spot first and didn't find it. Nostrada read the hint and then I found it quickly, then brought it to Nostrada in his car.
I took a travel first aid kit and left a stress buster kit which I guess is another form of first aid. Thanks.

Going Postal

By: zenone Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

5:35 pm - There was some kind of convergence of wrinkled folk here today and felt like we were the only ones under 65.
Nostrada referred to a path we had to walk with seniors all over the place as "the gauntlet" and I nearly busted up laughing.

A guy was standing "right there" on our first attempt, so after waiting for a while, we went to find the Big ARS cache. On our return, the man was there. Instead some tee
nagers were inside the phone booth, apparently trying to memorize the phone book. We were just about to give up when they decided that the phone book wasn't fun anymore and left. Nostrada found it immediately, we signed, and headed home. Thanks!

As soon as I saw it, I recognized it. Thanks for the fun.

Plug Ugly? 2

11:06 am - We were searching when a couple on a bike passed and asked us if we were geocaching. They said the GPSr was a giveaway, though they were looking at Nostrada and he didn't even have his!
The coords seemed a bit off, but the subject helped us find it quickly. Thanks.

Server Still Too Busy?

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

8:28 pm - PLEASE DON'T TRY TO FIND THIS CACHE. Hasn't my server taken enough of a beating? All you people just take and take and take. Bandwidth isn't free, you know.
I can't believe WeBeDnD would do something like this. Now my tool will never work with all the extra load this 'tool' is putting on it. Where's Hemlock when you need him?

Luckily I was able to analyze my server logs and get the coordinates without doing any more damage.

Though I felt like I had
been here before, it took me a whil
e to find the cache. I've never seen so many people in this park before. I thought I might not find the cache as the park was just Too Busy.
Anyway, I got this one off my first page. Thanks ALOT, WeBeDnD!!!

The Ultimate Multipuzzlecache

By: PhilippeGPS and The Rat Difficulty: 4.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

7:37 pm - When this puzzle showed up, I started exploring it and started coming up with all kinds of interesting directions. I started to run into dead ends and the puzzle seemed to get deeper and deeper. That's when I decided that we needed a larger hammer and called in a slew of local puzzle solving masters.
One hider was cornered and questioned for hints, then we gathered to collect the evidence and come to some conclusions. A large string of emails followed.

We had some of the right ideas, but finally found one critical piece that got us to stage 2.

At stage 2, some of the puzzlers went ahead and
solved the rest quickly, which was a bit dissapointing - not because they were able to finish it - but more because I was expecting this to be an epic puzzle that would take weeks. At that point, I put it on the back burner for a while.

I finally got around to tackling the rest of the puzzle this
week and solicted some help for some of the details and to clean up my sloppy mistakes. The final answer was very satisfying and well-integrated into the theme.

I had a nice hike out to the cache site and found it easily though the mosquitos didn't make me feel welcome. I took the high adventure TB
and something else.

Thanks for the excellent puzzle, guys!

Big ARS Cache

By: friendly four from felton Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Other

5:25 pm - Size: Other is right. This guy is HUUUUUUUGGGEEE.
We actually had some trouble finding our way to the cache. Our first attempt going through a mobile home park was unsuccessful. But then we decided to try for Going Postal and saw that we were only .16 miles away, so we walked over while the coast was clearing there.

Nostrada the Dad was paranoid
about me falling down the cliff. I was more worried a
bout keeping the cache from doing the same.
A fully-inflated volleyball in a cache? Wow. Nostrada was in stitches all the way back to the car at the sheer size of the thing.

Thanks for the cache!

Thanks.

Creekside Picnic

By: Kealia Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

2:38 pm - We arrived at what seemed to be the closest access point and tried to find a way in, but it really seemed like we were walking through someone's backyard, so we turned around.
We ended up parking near Seagate ("Disc Dr." how witty!) and walking down the creek to the cache. There was poison oak along the way and I wasn't able to avoid it all, so I applied some TechNu when I got back.

It took us a while to find the cache because we didn't know how to identify the object
in the hint. TNLNSL.

Then we had the adventure of hiking back along the creek. Everything was going well until the end when I found myself on the wrong side of th e creek, with a lot of thorns and water between me and where I had to be. I survived the thorns, did a little scrambling, then made a
big leap across the water. I'm a regular Indiana Jones, I tell you. Thanks for the fun.

The hike was short, but steep. I trusted my calibrated map a little too much and followed the wrong trail, but eventually caught that error and found myself at the point. Great view!

I waited until two cyclists left and then I scurried down the hill, trying to avoid tumbling down into poison oak.
I found the cache easily and TNLNSL.

I went back up to the top and just as I arrived, no less than 19 cyclists came up the hill. I just made it. Thanks for the nice after-work hike and great view.

5:28 pm - Without Nostrada to encumber my search, I found this one within a minute. :-)
After my last failure to find it, I tried to convince workerofwood that "someone" had said the cache was "broken" and I'd volunteer to "fix" it for him while he was away. Free of charge of course. Of course he'd have to tell me exactly where it was so I could perform the "service."

He didn't bite
, but he did tell me where to focus when I asked him about a particular spot.

The log is apparently getting wet as many of the signatures were smudged. Sounds like
it's "broken", huh workerofwood??

*missing* That's Just Not Natural

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

4:41 pm - I just got stung by several hornets at Sanborn Cache and I was tired and sweating. I hadn't eaten anything all day. Hey, I know, let's find another cache! I'm a geocaching fool!
Once I got there I figured you could actually drive there, but I'm not sure what roads you'd take.

I arrived and shortly after I started searching in all kinds of hidden places, some muggles wandered over and started taking pictures. I sat down to wait them out and read the logs. Just as I did t
hat, I looked over and saw it. Pretty funny.

I grabbed it when they left and was signing the log when I heard some others coming down the trail. I had to quickly put it back together and set it upright before they got there. I took a camo film can and left a US quarter and a Fiji 5 cent piece.

Sp
eaking of not natural, that pond was really weird green. Thanks for the fun cache.

Bigger Than Yours

By: Nurse Dave Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Large

12:39 pm - Thanks to this cache, I've added a new tool to my geocaching essentials pack - pruning shears. They came in very useful and I was able to clear out most of the way to the cache and around it. Unfortunately I still wasn't able to avoid touching the nasty stuff while trying to clean it out. Then again, that's why God made TechNu. Is it a bad sign when you start to like the smell of TechNu?
The cache was pretty big, but I think I have seen bigger; Sci-fi and Fantasy Book Exchange for one.

I took the min pocket knife for my gardening services. :-)

Sanborn Cache

By: thegreers Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

4:12 pm - This was a nice place in the shade to take a walk on a warm day. On the way in a bought an annual pass to the parks which I should have bought 5 days ago before they increased the prices.
I wasn't sure about the hint and I kept searching in the wrong places. My GPSr was pretty useless. It was very clear when I saw the real object described in the hint.

I began my search and while stomping around, I apparently stepped on a hornet nest. Suddenly pain was searing through my legs. My
rational reaction to this of course was to run up the hill, yelling and flailing my arms. Good thing no one else was there, but then again I guess it doesn't matter now. Fortunately I'm not allergic, but I wasn't sure how I'd do getting stung several times at once.

After I recovered from that I s
tarted searching again and found it after checking a bunch of places. Geez, not an easy one! TNLNSL. Thanks.

12:17 pm - I had good karma in Fremont today, so I thought I'd give this one a 3rd try. Even with a hint from another cacher and a lifeline from MotorBug, I couldn't find this one. Either I'm regressing in my caching stills or this one is missing.

The MSJ Code

By: archaeor Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

9:46 am - I found the stages in short order. The first place I looked for the cache ended up being a hole with some sort of dead animal in it. I found the actual cache shortly after, but not before I smashed I smashed my finger with a rock. Ouch. Thanks for the cache.

1870 Art Center

By: Billspursuit Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

7:07 pm - With some help and the cache being right where it's supposed to be, this was a quick one. Thanks.

It's Elementary, Watson

By: Neslake Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

10:14 am - I did something wrong on my first attempt to solve this one and all my possible solutions were more than a mile off. I gave it another try last night and got better numbers with only one that looked right.
It took me a while to find the cache. Tough hide, but eventually I prevailed. Thanks.

is it in you?

By: dragonarmyhero Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

8:57 am - Ha, I made this a driveup! Quick find, TNLNSL. Thanks.

Mission Hospice

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small

6:43 pm - I made far too many u-turns to get here and then couldn't find the cache. I couldn't get a good signal here and I was all over the place.

Spaz Attack!

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

10:52 am - Cemetaries are not my favoite place to find caches, but I was in the neighborhood. It only took me a few minutes to find the cache, but then again I didn't read the description. I might still be there! Nice hide. Thanks.

Palm Overcross

By: CALHUNTER Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

9:54 am - The coords were right on for this one and I found it quickly. Thanks!

The Explosive Neopet Cache

By: Caylie Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

7:27 pm - Last cache of the day and I was ready to be done. I had a nice walk up to find the nice big cache. TNLNSL. Thanks.

LeChuck's Cursed Treasure

By: LeChuck Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

2:16 pm - It was a hot day and I spent a while scrabling around before I found the well-hidden cache.
Heh, I had a good laugh when I saw the pearls. I took one of course. Thanks.

Mea Cupola

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Virtual

5:53 pm - I could have parked right next to this one, but that wasn't obvious to me. I guess I have good eyesight because I could read the cartoon from the ground. Thanks.

Webvan Rocked!!

By: idlecpu, thislittletown Difficulty: 4.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

4:51 pm - I've been skipping over this one after reading the description and hearing stories. With a little logic, I was able to find it in about 10 minutes, so it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Thanks!

X's and O's

By: thislittletown and idlecpu Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

5:15 pm - Doh, I was really close last time! I found the capless cache in just a few minutes. Thanks.

De Anza Camping Favorites

By: Sierra Hikers Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

6:21 pm - Huh, well I never would have thought to camp here! Found the cache pretty much lying in plain sight. I TNLNSL and trashed out some french fries, a beer can and soda bottle. Thanks.

Los Cerittos Community Center

By: TeamSpaz Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

11:23 am - A parade or something was getting ready to start, so there were a lot of people around trying to find a place to park.
As for the cache, I brought my x-ray goggles and a hint and found it pretty quickly, unlike last time. TNLNSL. Thanks.

CalTrain - Burlingame

By: normanb Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

5:46 pm - I saw this one from about 50 feet away. The outside was rusty, but the log was OK. The last people to find were a couple of United pilots on a layover. Cool! Thanks. Only a few stations left for me now.

United 615

By: The TEMS Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

2:57 pm - Boy this was a tough one on this hot day. By the time I reached the top I was drenched in sweat and my legs were all jittery. The views were great though. I took the monkeybutt video and left a hand-carved keychain from India. Thanks.

Schooner Or Later

By: SBUX Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

Ran across this one after a hike up the hill in Union City, California. The tent seems to have been repurposed as an ad for a local apartment complex (yeah, that really makes me want to live there), but the base appears to be quite old.

Totally Toys

By: Ron Streeter Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

1:23 pm - This is a terrain 1? There must have been some other entrance closer than the onoe half a mile a way that I used. Then again, it was a hot day.
I startled a deer resting near the cache. This 3 year-old cache still has lots of great toys in it. I TNLNSL. The log book is full though. Thanks.

High Ridge

By: Nankoweap Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

11:48 am - Here's a question for you - given an 'enourmous' group of cachers, who do you think would follow me up a ridiculous route to the cache? I took the hard way partially because it looked fun and direct and partially to see who would follow me.
Well besides the answer to that question, my reward was the FTF even though I checked that spot before I read the hint. I left the FTF prize. I think I've tormented my cats enough with those things. Thanks.

Miner's Junk

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

10:02 am - I was too slow to this one and it was long found by the time I arrived at the cache. Actually, I'm not sure I ever saw the cache, but they tell me that they signed me in. You're not checking these, are you? :-)

Black Manzanita

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

1:01 pm - The flies were driving me nuts here, so I started hiking up to here while MotorBug, Nostrada and WeBeDnD sorted out something. It was a quick find for me. I guess I got lucky. WeBeD tried to scare me by shouting "Hey, what are you doing!". Nice guy. Thanks.

Bald Mountain 2

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

1:18 pm - MotorBug and I went up to admire the awesome view from here while WeBeD did the paperwork. He assured us that everything 'was under control.' I hope that means that he signed it for us too. Thanks for showing us this very cool spot.

Cemetery Trees

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

10:20 am - Most of the day we barely started hiking before we were upon yet another cache. This one required a little more effort. Once again it was found before I arrived and saw the spooky cache. I think I'm going to have to trust you that there' s a cemetary here. Thanks.

We Dig Cemeteries

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Micro

10:36 am - Sick. Very sick. I wasn't the one found it, but at least my pen helped extract the cache. Team Nazgul's first attempt at banging it on the ground only got it full of dirt and grass. Thanks for bringing us this far, now it was time for mostly cacheless walk back.
Did I mention that you're sick?

Treasure Rock

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

9:54 am - Most of us were looking in the wrong place for this one. With 10 people looking, someone is bound to find it and here Team Nagzul pulled through. TNLNSL. Thanks.

Tick House

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

9:46 am - I don't like to get hot, so I usually wear shorts. Not only do I keep cool, I have a nice excuse to wait on the trail while my panted friends search for these type of hides.
I had no ticks all day until suddenly one appeared hours later at the Sierra Azul parking lot. Marky played the Dad and plucked the bugger off my leg and then Joani played the Mom and gave me some neosporin. Aw, shucks. Thanks for the cache and the tick rescue!

BTC

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

9:27 am - Another quick on along the San Jose power cacher trail. I think Kablooey signed me in. Thanks again.

No N.U.T.S. Here!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

9:24 am - Yeah, luckily I was not engaged in idle chit-chat or we might have walked right past this one. Found it easily. We giggled at the combination fan AND mixer whose main selling point was "Useful!". Kablooey had to have it. TNLNSL. Thanks.

500,000 Words

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

9:06 am - Quote of the cache: "What's taking them so long?" - Nostrada, relaxing on the trail, asking why MotorBug, kablooey and others have not produced the cache yet.
Eventually MotorBug found this one and I dealt out a few random pictures to people. We were really impressed with a picture of a cougar until the next picture clearly showed him being in a zoo.

I took a picture of some snowy mountains and a lake. Thanks!

You Can Cache!

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

8:58 am - WeBeDnD found this one first as well, but it was kablooey who thought to use a travel bug tag to open it! I announced the meaning of the title and a round of 'ahh's went all aroudn. TNLNSL. Thanks.

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Thanks! I think my name is quite clever as well. Did you know it's an anagram for 'trouble'? :-)

Agnew Park

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

7:59 pm - People were all about today, staking out their spot in the grass to watch the fireworks above Great America.
I had to wait out a ranger nearby and then I had to do a few laps before I found the well-hidden cache.

By this time I had been caching continuously for exactly 12 hours, finding 33 caches. I decided it was now time to go home, shower, eat somthing and go to bed so I could get ready for another
12 hours tomorrow. :-) Thanks.

Encouragement

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

8:51 am - I thought Marky's 11 caches were encouragement enough, but this certainly helps. A nice easy find. Thanks.

"We Live Here"

By: Jim and Jeanette Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

7:06 pm - Yup, it was right where it should be and I found it on the return. Thanks.

Water Park (not) Stairway to nowhere

By: TammieTheDog Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

6:55 pm - This place could be nice - whatever it is. The cache stuck out a bit, so I found it quickly. Thanks.

Buena!

By: Team Nazgul Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Small

3:01 pm - Boy it was hot out there today. I kept trying to convince myself that it would only get cooler as the day went on, but that didn't help much on the up and down and up again that was this cache. MotorBug grabbed it as we panted and rehydrated. The way back was a bit easier though we were pretty tired.
On the way home, I showed MotorBug what a Brain Freeze is and he I think he really enjoyed it!

The End Of The Line

By: sammydee Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

12:46 pm - WeBeDnD was about to turn around and go home until I informed them that there was a cache 80 feet away. That motivated them to stay. Nostrada spotted it first and we quickly had the log sheet. After that we went over the line to Bald Mountain. Thanks.

Secret Trailhead #16 - Woods Rd

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

8:24 am - I was there with the rest. I didn't find it myself, but I guess I didn't have to. Very good hide and many mroe to come today. Thanks!

Snowman in July

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

8:37 am - Somehow I moved the coordinates for this cache in my GPSr and I was way off. Luckily I had lots of help. We had to be careful around the poison oak here. There wasn't really a trail to here before, but I think there is now. :-) Thanks.

Not Cinnabar

By: Marky & Joani Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

10:10 am - Only kablooey and I had the coords for this new one so we raced up and started searching. Then it was WeBeDnD who actually found the cache and then silently pointed. Of course when I grabbed it from his hands I shouted "I found it!". Heh. Thanks.

vItu'ta' wa'DIch

By: nejwI' Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

4:39 pm - I spent a while looking for this and after finding nothing at the coordinates and only taking a cursory look elsewhere, I pulled up the cache page and saw the corrected coordinates.
I probably would have found it the first time around if I was looking for the right think. I interpreted 'wiper' as in 'wiper blades'. This was an entirely different type. TNLNSL. Thanks. The title still has me mystified though.

Assume Nothing #3

By: workerofwood Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

9:38 am - Workerofwood had foolishly given me the inside track on this a few weeks ago. Once I spotted it, I went back up to the trail and giggled and pointed with Team Nazgul at the hapless cachers. mmp looked pretty dumbfounded when we found it. It was nice to know that we wouldn't DNF this one though. As a matter of fact, we didn
't have a single DNF all day. Thanks, WoW. I shiver at the thought your next one. A 5-star camo job??

Grin and bear it!

By: Lil Devil Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

7:22 pm - I made a deal with Workerofwood for some help on this puzzle a long time ago and then failed to find it after it had gone missing.
For some reason this cache didn't show up in my pocket query after it was reenabled so I had to find it today by memory of where I searched last time. I was grinning when I found it the first place I tried. Thanks for the interesting puzzle.

DISLOCATER

By: WeBeDnD Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

6:14 pm - Dislocater is one sick guy; that's all I have to say.
I cornered WeBeDnD about this cache at dinner earlier in the week and let him mock me while I tried it work it out. At least he told me when I was heading off-track.

I went out to find it today I knew I was in the right place because my hat told me so.

There were lots of trucks parked on the str
eet for some reason, but no one appeared to be in them. I found dislocater's cache first and then after some exhaustive searching I found the real one. That damn dislocater, I hate when he moves caches. Thanks!

Up There Somewhere

By: Ruprex and his girl Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

2:37 pm - I sweettalked MotorBug into joining me for a few more caches on the other side of Quicksilver. This one was a nice warmup for the next. Quick find, TNLNSL. Thanks.

408

By: TeamAlamo Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

4:15 pm - I've skipped over this one a few times because of the description of the terrain, but today was south San Jose cleanup day and it had to go. I got the numbers, then got back in the air conditioned car on this hot day to work out the final coordinates while sipping my slurpee.
I had fun on the scramble and found the cache without much difficulty. TNLNSL. There was some pr0n at the cache site which I would have trashed-out if I had thought to bring something to handle it with. Maybe the next cacher can clean up the area a bit.
I got back to the car without incident and my slurpee was still cold. Thanks.

Flatirons Everywhere!

By: dgreno now maintained by forman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

7:43 pm - I found this new flatiron-style building in Santa Clara, CA, directly across the street from the world headquarters of Intel.
While there aren't streets directly on both sides, I guess the lot was kinda funny-shaped so the building is narrower on end than on the other. Starbucks is apparently the first occupant, but they're not open yet.

The Amazing Race

By: GeoROCKS! Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

An Abrupt Finish
We had a trip planned back to the roadblock and possibly the pit stop amongst a bunch of other caches. In preparing, I realized that I had lost my instruction sheet. I only had a spreadsheet with all the calculations and a vague idea of what we needed to count next. I had also guessed the number
and made a note of what the pit stop's coordinates. Luckily Nostrada was able to find his. We found the roadblock easily enough. My guess was correct! We headed to the closeby pit stop, despite what the instruction sheet said. We arrived and were surprised to have completed the race!

I took a globe
ball and lanyard pen; I left a train pen and matchbox car.

There are definitely some intentional deceptions in the race and other things that are just errors. We did see some interesting things along the way, especially as long as it took us to complete it!

Don't forget to start your TiVos - The
Amazing Race 5 starts July 6th on CBS!

White To Mate in Three

By: kablooey Difficulty: 4.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

6:24 pm - I think it helped that I apparently found the same program that kablooey used to create this puzzle. I had the answer in a jiffy and worked out the coords.
I went to pick it up today and was a bit confused at first, but then found it. Thanks for the creative puzzle.

Trails' End

By: Rosy3 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

4:53 pm - Ah yes, it's there now. I found it pretty quickly. I didn't see any snakes, but I'm pretty sure I heard at least one slithering though the grass. Thanks for the cache.

Golden Retriever

By: Tweety Bird and TazDevil Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

6:33 pm - I've been by here before and considered doing this cache, but it seemed like a longer hike. I arrived today and went from car to cache in less than 2 minutes. Crossing the gulley was fun. Cute log book, TNLNSL. Thanks.

Golden Oaks

By: bykenut Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

5:14 pm - Bykenut caches are always so pleasant. They bring you to interesting spots that are tucked away and they're never unnecessarily complicated. If you need a hint, there's always a good one provided.
This one was no exception. I had a nice walk to the cache and found it easily. Thanks for not putting it up that really steep hill. TNLNSL.
