Pu'u'ula'ula (Red Hill) Haleakala Volcano SummitBy: Cary Owl Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Not chosen
2:23pm The Moop Along and ~Eleanor were visiting Maui and I played tour guide up to the summit of Haleakala. I had gotten the rest of the Haleakala caches in the past but still needed to get this Earthcache. On our way up to the summit, we stopped at Hosmer's Grove and did the short nature trail, observing the native birds, and also stopped at one of the overlooks before reaching t he top. The top was very cold today as the winds were very strong. But no rain, like below, and no fog/clouds over the crater. Took the requisite photos and checked out the information signs. Mahalo for the EC!

11:14am When I read the description, I had a feeling about what we'd be looking for. We were disappointed and found the cool cache. I had to make the grab though! TNLNSL.
Keka'a Landing PierBy: HawaiianHairball Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
9:33am Dropped my dad off at the ferry to Lana`i and then we headed to the beach to do some snorkeling. There was a slight northeast swell so we skipped snorkeling and went to look for this cache instead. Easy find, thanks for the history I never knew about, even though I've been to the area many times before. TNLNSL.
Wahine O ManuaBy: HawaiianHairball Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small
10:39am Another spot on Maui we wouldn't have known about if not for geocaching. It took a few minutes to find but I eventually spotted it. Also, please don't trample the landscaping/plants when you look for the cache. You don't have to in order to find the cache! TN, left the Sea Shepherd geocoin, SL.
Jacob's Super Penguin CacheBy: delija+ma Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
10:23am When we were younger, this was our favorite hotel to visit. We used to eat Sunday brunch at Swan Court or have lunch at one of the other restaurants on property. And of course, we always visited the penguins. We haven't been back to the Hyatt for a while so we noticed a few changes, one of them being a taller stone wall around the penguin habitat. We watched the penguins for a bit, got the numbers we needed, then took a quick walk around the property to see the sights. We eventually got to the cache site and it took a while, as our GPSr guided us here and there. I eventually found the cache and took the Sea Shepherd geocoin, LNSL. Mahalo!

3:25pm I've been to Wainapapa State Park before but never down to the beach. There were a few muggles taking photos on the beach and we got our pic as well. Mahalo for the EC!
Palm SundayBy: B-4 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
5:14pm Our last cache of the day on our drive all the way around the East Side of Maui. We drove past the turnout, then turned around and spotted the green posts. Made the walk down to the cache site. I first went searching for the cache, as the geotrail is bordered by thorny lantana plants. But after a while, I still hadn't found it, so Jenn made h er way through the path. After a few minutes, Jenn found the cache, a spot I had overlooked a few times going back and forth. TNLNSL, then back on the road to get home.
Entrance to Punalau FallsBy: RocksPharmer Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
1:40pm #2200!!! Our first cache while driving around the East Side of the island. We actually went past the entrance to the trail but turned around and got the only parking space. It had rained so it was a little slippery and damp but we made a quick find, thanks to the previous finders' photos. TNLNSL.
As The Waves Pound The Lava RockBy: RocksPharmer Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Small
1:58pm I'd been to Camp Keanae many year ago but never all the way to the end of the peninsula. There were a few locals finishing up their fishing day but nowhere near the cache. Made a quick find, then took a few photos with the waves crashing in the background. TNLNSL.
Brad and Myrna's Honeymoon CacheBy: Brad & Myrna Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen
3:41pm We parked at the parking lot, then took a wrong trail and eventually ended up back at the parking lot. We had taken the loop trail! But we figured out we needed to get down to the black sand beach first, then take the trail along the coast. A nice walk, passing a few muggles along the way. When we got to the cache site, I sort of remembered the photos we were supposed to look at but I guess I didn't remember enough about it, as Jenn made the find as I was searching a spot that wasn't even close. Awesome views on the way back, mahalo! TNLNSL.
Good To Go!!By: Northern Gecko Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro
Once again, we couldn't find this sneaky cache. We searched many spots, even double-checking and triple-checking. I think we'll try again when the businesses nearby are closed.
Maui GeOhana - January 2010By: Tracer Bullet Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Other
When we moved back from California, we were thinking there wouldn't be too many geocaching events on Maui but we're glad there's a monthly event here on Maui. We arrived late but had fun talking to the other local cachers, as well as visiting cachers. Thanks TracerBullet for holding this event. Mahalo!

4:24pm No events going on today at the community center so no muggles around. Quick easy find, even got spooked by a gecko jumping out! TNLNSL.
Down The Side!By: northern gecko Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular
4:01pm We'd been past this park before but it's always been full of muggles. Today, nothing but birds. We made the walk over to the cache site and after searching a wrong spot first, we looked around and spotted another spot. And there was the cache. TN, left a TB, SL.

4:11pm We parking nearby and at first, started walking in the wrong direction. But we corrected ourselves and found our way to the correct spot. TNLNSL. We're thinking that one day, this spot will be bulldozed and houses will sprout up. They sure will have a nice view!
The Sugar Beach CaseBy: Tracer Bullet Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
4:30pm We took a nice stroll down along the boardwalk to the cache. When we got there, there was a muggle exercising so we looked for just a little before realizing we didn't have a pen or pencil. So we walked back to the car, grabbed a pen, and when we got back to cache site, the muggle was gone. We took a few minutes to find the cache and when I opened it up, there was nothing in it, not even a log. But I had a Walmart receipt so we were able to TNLNSL.
St James Rest AreaBy: maui & mountainlife Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
3:25pm Another STF on this cache. Almost didn't find it as we couldn't figure out what the hint referred to until we found the actual hiding spot of the cache. Took a geopin, left a geopin, SL.
View of the IslandsBy: maui & mountainlife Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
3:15pm Our first cache of 2010 and we were hoping for a FTF but were STF. I had been watching this cache wondering when delija+ma were going to find it. We were actually going for St. James Rest Area but had pulled off to let a truck pass when Jenn said there was a cache right here. So we parked and out we went to look for it. Easy find, nice view but hazy today because of the vog. TNLNSL.
